[HP IGNORANCE] 4x40s windows 8.1 AMD driver - UNSOLVED & IGNORED ISSUE (sleep = restart)

HP STOP IGRNOING US AND SUPPORT YOUR PRODUCTS!!!
WINDOWS 8.1 IS NOT A WHOLE DIFFERENT SYSTEM - IT IS AN UPDATE TO 8
As all interested guys know, there is currently no proper driver for our AMD cards in 4x40s for AN UPDATE of a system - windows 8.1.
This is seriously wrong - we all have issues: inability to put notebook to sleep due to broken AMD driver. Effect of trying putting computer to sleep is total restart on waking up.
HP jest doesn't want to support laptop which still is on shelves and resellers are still selling them.
Why you're not supporting 8.1 on this laptop??
Topics covering issue:

So HP decides not to resolve the issue, but to close the topic?
It's so ridiculous!!! Shame on you HP!
As for today the status is that since the Windows 8.1 i released: September 2013, HP is not able to provide support for their product.
I've just made up my mind and I am going to return this product to the seller I bought it from. Farewell HP.

  • Can I install Windows ON a flash drive or on flash memory?

All over the internet I see questions from people wanting to install Windows from a USB flash drive with varying results, but my question is different.  I want to install Windows ON removable flash memory.  I would like to purchase a MacBook Air, but would like to also continue making use of Boot Camp without taking up too much of my limited hard drive space.  I've found fast 3.0 USB sticks and flash cards that would be nice, but can they be treated as a partition in order to install and run Windows?

Ignoring the fact that Windows doesn't really support booting from removable media (you might be able to force it if you are willing to build a custom installer), I can think of another reason you wouldn'r want to consider this.  Windows is notorious for heavy usage of the swap file, and I believe I recall reading one report where someone had managed to install Windows to a flash drive, and within 30-60 minutes, the OS had written to the swap file so much that the flash memory was beginning to fail.  Remember that each time you write to flash memory, it cases a small amount of damage to the memory, and after a significant number of writed, it will fail.  Regretfully, the Woindows swap file will cause this threshhold to be reached very quickly, and then you start getting write errors...

  • Uninstalling AMD driver

    Hi all,
My Macbook Pro 17" (Early 2011) recently got the known issue with the AMD Radeon HD 6750M, weirds columns and lines on screen, to finally freeze for ever.
Getting a replacement is not possible because the cost of motherboard is near the price of a new macbook Pro, but above all it has the same defective AMD card built in, so one can get the problem very soon again.
Two friends of mine have had the same problem (yep, 2011 models, same graphic card), but one of them got luck with a reballing procedure, and it seems that the computer is working Ok for the moment. So I decided to do the same, and the computer is working better now, but sometimes this weird lines appear. The guy at the technical service told me that the amd processor is still working over its regular temperature, so I can expect its death.
I would like to uninstall the AMD driver so I can use the Intel HD 3000 only. At least the computer could be used for email and surfing the web...
I know that there is a little app, called gfx, that has the option to use one or the other, but if you need to reboot the mac, it loads the AMD driver again, and I'm afraid that I'll finally get the same problem, a point where the computer freezes and you are done.
I was looking on the AMD site, but they seem to have uninstall solutions for Windows only.
    Any help appreciated.

  • My AMD Driver crashes and recovers almost daily. Is there anyway to stop this?

My laptop is a HP Pavillion g7-2224nr notebook and my driver is the default one, a AMD Radeon HD 7420G Discrete-Class Graphics.
It doesn't bluescreen, but when I'm watching youtube videos, the video will randomly stop and it'll say 'the amd driver has disconnected and successfully reconnected'.
Do you guys have any suggestions to helping me?
Edit: Forgot to add, it's a windows 8.1.
    This question was solved.

It worked great. I installed it and it hasn't crashed once. I was even able to play one of my favorite games.

  • AMD Radeon HD5770 with official AMD driver

    Hi all,
I just installed Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my new 6-core Mac Pro with Boot Camp. So far no problems, except that I can't install the official Catalyst drivers from AMD/ATI's homepage - the installation goes through, however it fails with en error saying that the Video Driver couldn't be installed. I previously installed all Boot Camp drivers.
Anyone had the same problems already? I need the official AMD drivers because I have more than one display and want to group them with Eyefinity for gaming.
    Thanx in advance,
    CJ

    Hi Stefan and others!
Uninstalling all ATI drivers and reinstalling from scratch didn't help - somehow the latest ATI display driver has an issue with the Mac Pro - however what helped was intalling the shipped Apple ATI driver (from Bootcamp) AFTER installing the latest official drivers - that way only the control manager installed first and after the error message the ATI driver that Apple delivers installed fine. So now I have an Eyefinity display array working flawlessly over 2 displays!
Maybe installing only the control center after the Bootcamp drivers would have also worked.
    Cheers,
    CJ

  • Amd drives not installing on my g6-2123

    pavilion g6-2123 us
    windows 7 64 bit

    Hi,
What is the complete product name or product number for your notebook? What you have posted is only a partial one.
Are you able to boot into Windows?
There is a Recovery Manager available from within Windows that contains all of the applicable drivers for the installed operating system. Windows orb-->HP-->Recovery Manager.
Choose the AMD driver from the available list and click on install. If your notebook has an AMD discrete module and an Intel HD onboard graphics chip the driver will install both.
You can also install the drivers by using the recovery disk set or recovery media that you should have created when you first setup your notebook.
    Best regards,
    erico

    Hi @Leys
I see you are stilll unsuccessful installing the drivers as you get the blue screen.
Here is a link to Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP) that may help.
Here is a link to Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) to determine if your graphic card is defective.
If the graphic card fails, here is a link to the HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. Please note page 9 or chapter 1 page 9 for a list of recommended replacement graphic cards.
If the graphic card passes you may wish to consider doing a restore back to a known good time or a full recovery back to factory.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)

  • K8N Neo2 wierd boot / AMD driver ?

I just put this rig together and am still fiddling with things.  After playing with Corecenter and Speedfan and CnQ, and having Corecenter alarm continuously after installing Speedfan, uninstalling Corecenter, wondering if CnQ was working, etc., I ended up installing the AMD driver 1.2.2.2.  Things worked okay but when I reinstalled Corecenter it still alarmed continuously (I never could tell why or how to silence the alarm other than closing Corecenter).  I decided to uninstall the AMD driver to try to get back to my original configuration.  During the reboot after the uninstall the system acted a little funny.  Once in the Windows boot the screen went black and then back to the boot screen three times, and then went black and then back on while in the Windows screen before finally settling down.  CnQ would not work after this so I re-installed the AMD 1.2.2.2 driver.  Everything now works, but the weird boot up still happens with the screen going black several times in the process.  Also, when I go to Advanced settings in the Display Properties/Settings the computer seems to hang for several seconds, then the screen goes blank, comes back on and then displays the advanced screens.
BTW, my goal is to have a QUIET computer that will still perform okay for the games my kids play on this machine.
I have a couple of questions related to all this.
    1)  Is the weird boot up and blank screen when going to the Advanced Display Settings related?
    2) Can I uninstall the AMD driver and go back to the Windows driver (that did allow CnQ in the first place)?
    3)  Finally, I would prefer to ditch Corecenter and use Speedfan.  During all this at some point Speedfan displayed info on my video board (voltages, temps) but does not show these now.   Is there a secret to getting Speedfan to report the video info?
Thanks for any help or insight you can give.  I have spent hours looking over the forums and have learned much!

Well, I think I've sorted most of this out now.  The weird boot up (blank screens) seems to have cured itself so I will leave well enough alone.  I'm still tinkering with Speedfan, and after perusing a bunch more threads on that, I think I am reporting the graphics card temps.

  • Problem with AMD driver.

Hello i need please help with this problem so i start explain what type of problem i have. I unninstalled old AMD Catalyst driver and Intel too. Then i installed newest from Intel.com and AMD.com. After upgrade AMD newest driver my graphics card changed name from AMD Radeon HD 7650M to AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600M. Doesnt hurt i just tell you what happened. Then i start think graphics card would work better if i unninstall those newest drivers and install from HP for Intel and AMD and then upgrade them with newest Intel and AMD drivers. For AMD it works but not for Intel so i have only newest driver. But it wasnt better so i wanted come back. I used all that time for unninstall drivers DDu Display Driver unninstaller.  And i deleted folder swsetup because it has too much GB and i thought theres only drivers which i dont need if i have them installed.  I used restore point there where i had newest drivers for Intel and AMD without older drivers installed because i thought it would be better then again reinstall drivers.  Now unfornately i have several problems. When i start computer i have 3 errors igfxpers.exe application errorThe application was unable to start correctly 0xc000007b. Click ok to close the applicationhkcmd.exe application errorThe application was unable.... 0xc000007bigfxtray.exe  application error The application was unable 0xc000007b... And what about AMD and Intel drivers?Intel works but about AMD i cant tell that same. From AMD driver stayed only few folders which showing Windows i have AMD catalyst driver installed but its not working. When i unninstall him to install new driver i have Standard VGA driver something like that. I looked at him in Device manager and he needs driver because he showing he cant find alone. And thats the problem. I dont know from where i can install driver for this. And yes that errors are too problems. I thanks for any reply which can fix this problem without reinstalling windows which i dont want. THanks

Update: I unninstalled Intel and AMD driver with DDU now and i have video controller (VGA Compatible) and Radeon HD 7500/7600M.  In  device manager Radeon HD 7500/7600M i have now: System Windows cannot turn this hardware device because information about his configuration (in database Registry) are uncomplete or corrupted Code 19. I translated it from my language. What now?

  • Options in running Windows from an mSATA drive

I recently ordered an x220 and expect to receive it this week. I also ordered an mSATA drive that I would like to install. Once I have it installed, I am not sure the best method to install Windows to the new drive and would appreciate some feedback.
I don't really like the idea of cloning the HDD to the mSATA because of solid-state disk alignment issues and degredaded performance. Also, I believe Windows 7 will correctly configure itself to utilize a solid-state when it goes through the installation process, and simply cloning the HDD will not give Windows an opprotunity to perform the configurations.
I could install Windows from scratch.  I like that this option will ensure Windows will configure itself for solid-state drives. I am concerned, however, that I will not be able to reinstall all of the Lenovo drivers and applications as correctly as they should. I reviewed the User Guide for my x220 (available here) under the section of installing a new OS, and it points to registry patches to update Windows and mentions downloading various drivers from the Lenovo site. If Lenovo integrates into Windows to the degree that it requires manual registry edits, I'm not sure I want to attempt to manually place the Lenovo software on top of a plain Windows installation.
The third choice I see, although I'm not sure it will work, is burning the backup recovery media and using this to install the Lenovo configured OS onto the mSATA drive. I question if this will work because if the recovery process is only dumping flat files into the partition, it will not configure Windows properly to utilize a solid-state disk. If, however, the recovery process is a true Windows installation, it should determine that I am utilizing a solid-state and should adjust its configuration accordingly. Does anyone know how the recovery process works?
If you were in my shoes, how would you proceed with getting Windows onto the new mSATA drive? Looking forward to any replies, thanks.
    Jesse

I could do that, but I would suffer write performance loss due to the SSD partition being out of alignment. I found this helpful article that describes what alignment is, and why it is important.
I think you are probably running your SSD at less than full performance capacity. Since you cloned the original HDD to the SSD, you probably didn't even notice your SSD could be performing faster. You can check you alignment by following this.
Additionally, if you don't let WIndows detect that it is being installed on a solid state disk, it won't optimize itself for that disk. I am referring to things like disk defragmentation, indexing services, or prefetching. These tasks really only apply to traditional spinning disks, and should not be enabled on a solid state. There are other things that are enabled that could be turned off, such as hibernation. With solid states, it is just as fast or faster to completely shut down the computer rather than hibernate, so why waste the disk space?
What are other people doing when they install solid states in their lenovos?

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows cannot locate a driver.  Visiting the Canon website, I find an update module for the Windows driver.  Canon says the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their driver update can be installed.  I have tried everything, but I cannot get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Updater says that my computer is Up To Date.
