HP Ink drying or being used too quickly

I had suspected that ink in my personal computer printer (HP 7520) was drying more quickly and not lasting as long as  I had remembered in the past. On March 23, 2015 I purchased a new cartridge and today, April 1, I am already out of ink.  I was out of town for 3 of these days and did not print more than 10-20 pages during this timeframe.
If this is what I can now expect from HP products ?   Perhaps I will look to having my used cartridges re-filled.

  • Date being used up quickly?

I have 300mb data plan from at&t, and it is being used up quickly? I don't use it much.

You may want to do a bit of detective work and determine what it is that is using the data. That may help you determine the next step.
If you open the Settings app and tap Cellular, the section titled "Use Cellular Data For" will show below the app names the amount of data each app has used since the statistics were last reset. The last item in the list is "System Services" and if you tap that it will give the details of System Service usage. If it makes it easier to track, you can reset the statistics at any time at the very bottom of the Settings > Cellular screen.

  • Space on Hard Drive being used up Quickly?

I have transferred around 860 photos into iphoto from my XP machine to my new Mac, these photos take up about 2.5GB of my Hard Drive (250GB) Itunes music takes up 4GB.
I’m concerned because I have thousands of photos that I want to transfer to my 1 month old Macbook Pro and the space on the Hard Drive is already down to 199GB. I haven’t installed anything else substantial apart from MS Office for Mac 2008 and a couple of screen savers.
At this rate there will be no space left on the hard drive soon.
    Any suggestions?
Also I have file vault activated which seems to slow things down a bit, do I need to have file vault activated ? Is there another way of protecting individual folders of personal files?
    Thanks
    Keith

Hi, Lplate Mac. Your hard drive's total capacity after formatting is 232GB, so you now have about 33GB of OS, applications and data stored on it. At least 2/3 of that is the OS, the applications that were pre-installed, and the support files for those apps. (The support files just for iDVD, GarageBand and iPhoto add up to about 3GB.) If you've installed other applications besides the ones that were included with the machine, they occupy more of your used space. Your personal data files, including your 6.5GB of photos and music, account for the rest.
If your iPhoto Library occupies 2.5 GB for 870 photos, then by rough approximation, 8700 pictures should take up about 25GB, or 25,000 pictures should take up around 75GB, and so on. A lot depends on the average size of your individual picture files, and also on how much editing you do in iPhoto. For comparison, I have nine separate iPhoto libraries on my MBP. They contain a total of about 4200 images, and they occupy 11.2GB on my hard drive. If they were all RAW files shot using a high-resolution SLR camera, they might take up ten or fifteen times more disk space.

  • My ink depletes too quickly

My ink seems to run out too quickly.  I talked to a person from HP and I was informed that you should get at least 200  pages with 15 % coverage per cartridge.  I'm not getting any where near that many pages.  Is there a setting I can change on my HP Photosmart Printer to lengthen the life of my ink cartridge?  I know I am paying less for my cartridge and thought maybe that might be a possibility.  Has anyone else experienced this situation?  Thanks in advance'
    Strawbeary.

What printer model? What operating system? Are you replacing the cartrdiges when they actually run out of ink or when the first low ink warning happens?
Printing in draft mode will use about half the ink of normal or best modes.  Printing on photo paper uses much more ink than printing on plain paper for the same print.
Depending on your printer model the low on ink indicator is probably giving you an advance warning so you can have a spare cartridge on hand for when it is needed.  On most printers you will not need to change the cartrdige until it actaully runs out as exidenced in changes in print quality.

We both use the same iPad my father and I as of today, as is letting me use it too from now on (sweet! ), I do not want to make a mistake and accidently use my father's ID & passwords (dohh ), but each time the ID & Password pops up it ask for his (???), how can I access mine, so it's my account and financials being used. Thanks to any of those gifted with this knowlegde... AMAKANGAROO

In order to reliably save the info and be able to restore at a later date, you would need to use his AppleID.
Switch to it on iTunes, back the iPad up and confirm the backup exists (Preferences / Devices), then switch to yours, wipe the iPad and start afresh. Will also wipe his apps, as they are tied to the AppleID as well.

Do you mean Office 2008 and 2011 or do you really want Office 2001? I think you mean 2011 since Office 2001 wouldn't make much sense.
The Office uninstaller should be able to identify there are two versions and allow you to delete either one or both.

  • RAM gets used up too quickly - any ideas?

I am sure this is a problem which can be solved quickly by one of the many very knowledgeable guys out there:
I have a 2007 MacPro 2.66 Dual core with 8 Gb RAM (well out of date I know) but this is the problem. After booting up with no other programmes just Lightroom and Photoshop I start working on files. The 'Free' RAM on Activity Monitor goes from about 6Gb immediately to about 1.6Gb. The TIFF size I work on is about 220Mb. The computer slows right down and the only solution is to reboot to start working on the next image. This is very time consuming. I have been waiting for the launch of a new MacPro for ages but still there is nothing on the horizon and i may have to plump for a fully loaded iMac. In the meantime is there anything I can do? Something seems to be clogging the system up quickly. It didn't used to happen like this.  The VM size is showing as 233 Gb but is this actually being used?
    Help please?

  • LR3 using too much memory??? Running very slow!

I'm running LR3 (3.2) on my desktop , which is fairly powerful (Intel Q6600 Quad core @ 2.4 GHz, 4Gb ram, Win 7 64-bit, Radeon 4850 1Gb, dual monitors) with all main drivers & patches up to date.
Using the 'Library' module LR3 runs fine with ram usage low at around 250-500Mb & CPU at 1-5%.
Trouble starts when I start using the 'Develop' module. It virtually brings the computer down on it's knees - with ram usage consistently increasing to about 2-2.5 Gb of ram, which brings total ram being used up to approx 85% when taking into consideration the other programs & services running in the background. CPU usage continues to run low though - between 1-5% when inactive in 'Develop' increasing to 25-35% when doing stuff.
I've tried the 32 bit version in case there was a memory leak, but if there is, it happens on this version too as ram usage is still around 1.5-2Gb mark.
I've noticed this mainly when working on some of the larger photos - these are generally RAW files (CR2) taken on a Canon 7D @ 18mp - approx 20-25mb in size. JPEG's tend to be much quicker and less resource hungry - trouble is I'm shooting in RAW, so not much help to me!!
Anyone else suffering or suffered from this and have any tips on how to improve performance? I regularly optimise my catalog (approx 13,500 images - 72 Gb) which doesn't really make any noticeable difference.
Would it help if I created individual catalogs for each year of photos, thereby reducing the number of photos as well as overall size of catalog?
I'm more than a little stumped!

I was having similar issues on my macbook pro using LR3.  LR3 was using 1.5gb of my 2gb of ram and my overall workflow slowed to a crawl.  Thanks to the forums here and elsewhere I've been able to speed up my workflow considerably without having to buy more ram.
    1.  I downloaded the LR3.2RC and have been using it instead of LR3.0.  This resolved the issues I was having with the adjustment brush.  (Still running slow at this point.)
    2.  Under catalog settings/file handling I changed "preview quality" from medium to high.  (this helps when resizing previews)
    3.  Under preferences/file handling I moved the raw cache from my local hard drive to a folder on my external firewire 800 drive where I keep my image files.  I also increased it to 50gb.  (Once I moved the raw cache everything changed.  LR3.2 went from using 1.5gb of ram to just 700-800mb of ram.  Also LR became much more responsive overall.  No more hangs or odd behaviors.)
Since moving the raw cache everything sped right up.
    Mark,
I'm unclear as to why preview quality would impact the resizing aspect?  I would think that selecting the preview size most closely associated to the resolution of the monitor would have a much greater effect..
    All,
I added a post to the new LR3.3 thread set up by Tom Hogarty regarding LR 3.3RC memory consumption.  I'm on a Macbook Pro (2.1) with 4GB RAM.  With both LR 2.7 and LR 3.3 processing the same file (simple load, edit, and export to JPEG) LR 3.3RC is taking an additional 1GB of combined Real and Virtual Memory to complete the task.  After the processing is done, LR 3.3 is not releasing anything back in memory.  If you have a Mac, load up the activity monitor and you can follow how much LR 3.3 is grabbing.

  • IPhone gets very hot when not being used!

Been having some trouble with my iPhone recently. For some reason the iPhone gets hot - I don't mean warm... When it's in my pocket I can feel the heat being generated, or sometimes I'll pick it up from my desk and it'll be warmer than me, even when it's not being used.
It's started doing this recently. I've already had to hard reset it due to other issues but in addition to the heat issue the battery goes down really quickly, again when it's not being used. Today from a full charge it was down to 50% in about 2 hours.
I had suspicions it was due to a recently installed app, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas? Does it sound like hardware or software to you? Is there an app I can use to see what app is being used the most (in terms of CPU/memory/battery usage)?

Thanks both. I've restored the device and I'll see how that goes. In addition I've turned off Bluetooth since it doesn't work properly (the reason for doing the first reset). I'm finding if my headset goes out of range of the iPhone, it disconnects and never reconnects to the iPhone. If the headset is out of range for too long and I try reconnecting it via the BT menu option by selecting the headset, it tries to find it but fails. I end up having to completely re-pair the headset all over again.
Any reason for this or is it a known issue with the bluetooth?

  • Target parameter is not being used

    Hello,
while activating the transformation, i get an error saying" Target parameter 0058 is not being used". I have checked all the rules, infoObjects etc. but still im not able to activate the transformation at all.
Eventhough the source field-target field mapping is correct, the system is throwing such errors. What could be the possible cause of it. Any idea?
    Regards Sucheta

    Hello Sarvanan,
What do you mean by "the respective field not having the Unit/Curr Objects"..?..some of them are of the type "number" whereas others are CHARS.
Everytime when i add some field i cannot re-create the whole transformation. There has to be some inconsistency as my mapping of source-target field is correct. I have also raised this to OSS but as usual they are taking thier own sweet time to reply.
Surprisingly the transformation got activated yesterday and the dataload too was successful. Today again the same ols problem of "parameter is not being used"..!!
still could you pls throw some light on Unit/Currency objects that u mentioned..??
    Thanks in adv.

  • IPod Mini battery dying too quickly

I got an iPod Mini very recently, on September 14, 2005. I read in the User's Manual that it would take about a month for the battery to go from completely charged to completely drained if I didn't use it at all. Well, I charged my iPod fully on Tuesday or so, and by this morning it was 3/4 drained - after no more than 6 days of not being used!
Also, the battery seems to die very quickly when I'm playing music on my iPod. It's supposed to have 18 hours of playback, but after about four hours total, it was very close to being drained. I know the battery metre is approximate, but I doubt it's 14 hours off.
I'm really hoping this isn't normal, because I don't use my iPod that much and I don't want to have to recharge it every week even when it's not being used, or every day when it IS being used.
So my question is...is this normal? Or should I take the iPod back to where I bought it and get it exchanged? Any other advice?

This is ridiclous. A lot of people seem to be having the same problems. I mean as it states 18hrs of playback it should be. I have the same problem and dont even use it much. When fully charged I only get about 4-5 hrs playback. I went back to where I got it and they told me to contact Apple as they dont have any more dealings with you as its between aple and the consumer. I have contacted them now. It also has stopped working for me since yesterday. I knew there was half of the battery left so when I went to turn it on, theres no response from it. The screen stays blank. I also plugged it into PC and its not being recognised on my iTunes. Its powerless and Ive tried all their recommendations but to no avail.

The latest intel drivers only support UXA, so any AccelMethod option is ignored, as you can't set anything else than UXA.

  • Webcam being used by another program/Other Person ...

Okay, here's the problem. I just bought a new windows 7 PC and it came preinstaled with Skype. I tested the webcam and everything seemed fine. Then we got a video call from someone that uses an ipod and the video wouldn't work. I looked and it said that my webcam could not be used because another program must be using it. Only thing is, NO OTHER PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING. Not even Explorer or Firefox.
So I decided to do some testing. First I tried downloading it on my Android phone to make sure it wasn't related to an iphone/ipod problem, still doesn't work. Then I double checked to make sure my drivers and software were all updated. Everything is up to date. Then I disabled auto-sign-in on startup in case skype was loading before my webcam driver was, still nothing. Then I tried running in compatability mode for windows xp, Skype freezes and wont even start. Now I'm officially out of ideas
So to sum it up. When I start skype, and go to video, my webcam will work, but as soon as someone tries calling, they can't see any video. I'll list all my stats below. This is very frustrating because this is the same webcam that I was using on an older computer that recently gave me problems, so I bought an entirely new computer and it works great, but now skype won't work. Why can't this stuff ever be simple?
    Windows 7 64bit.
    AMD DUAL CORE 1.3ghz processor
    4 GB of RAM
    Skype 5.9
    Webcam Logitech c110
Webcam is designed to work with windows 7
Webcam software and drivers are all up-to-date
Webcam worked with Skype on windows XP just a week ago
Webcam works with other programs NONE OF WHICH are ever running in the background. Double, no Tripled checked. No messenger, Oovoo, Explorer, Firefox, Yahoo, or anything.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? This is really important to me. We recently moved out of state and this is the only way we can see my family. Thank you in advance for any help.

I am also having the same subject problem.  When I go to Tools->Options->Video settings the video stream is OK.  So what interfering software is running during a video call that is not running when I check the video settings?  I have included some thoughts and observations below.
My webcam device name in Windows is:  USB Video Device.  The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3.  SKYPE version is 5.9.0.115.  Webcam is Logitech C210 and I am using the Microsoft USB video device driver, not the Logitech drivers. I have uninstalled the other Logitech software a long time ago.
When I open My Computer in Windows and click on “USB Video Device” the  USB Video Device window opens with webcam preview video displayed as long as no other programs are using the webcam.  If SKYPE is running and producing video (Tools->Options->Video settings), instead of good video displayed on the USB Video Device window I get the Windows video error message shown below.
    Windows video error message:
    window title: Video Preview Failure.
“Creation of the video preview failed.
Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or user.”
Similarly, If I start SKYPE (Tools->Options->Video settings)with no other programs running that use the webcam I get good video.   However, if I start the Windows USB Video Device preview video before I start the SKYPE video, I get the SKYPE video error  message shown below that indicates that SKYPE can’t start the video.
    SKYPE video error  message:
Black window with white exclamation point in red circle.
“Can’t start video.  Try closing other programs that might be using your webcam.”
While this little experiment is completely expected, I have been getting the SKYPE video error  message when I try to make video calls.  Just before the call, Tools->Options->Video settings results in a good, solid video stream.  During the call I can see and hear my contact but my contact can only hear me.  The SKYPE video error  message appears.  The webcam icon shows a red diagonal line through it.  My contact can very briefly see me when I click on the webcam icon temporarily removing the red diagonal line.  But then SKYPE returns to the error state.
As far as I could tell no other applications were running that could conflict with SKYPE and result in this error condition!  Does anyone have any additional suggestions for identifying the interfering  software or application?  Or is there some other reason this particular SKYPE video error message occurs?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
P.S.:  It’s too bad the SKYPE program can’t provide some diagnostic clue to help the user identify the offending application software.

  • Error occurs during reseed - the EDB file is being used by another process

    Greetings,
We were notified today that one of our databases in an Exchange 2013 cluster is currently in a failed state. We have three servers - two at the primary site and one in the DR site. The database has a mounted and healthy copy on its preferred server, but
the secondary copy is now failed with a pretty high CopyQueueLength.
I've done plenty of reseeds with Exchange 2010, and I understand that Exchange 2013 will do an automatic reseed in the event of a failure. However the auto-reseed is generating the following message:
Automatic Reseed Manager failed to execute repair workflow 'FailedSuspendedCopyAutoReseed' for database 'DB05'. Error: The Automatic Reseed Manager encountered an error: The automatic repair operation for database copy 'DB05\mb02' will not be run because
one of the prerequisite checks failed. Error: There are no Exchange volumes mounted under root path 'C:\ExchangeVolumes', which are required for the Automatic Reseed component.
WorkflowLaunchReason: The seeding operation failed. Error: An error occurred while performing the seed operation. Error: The process cannot access the file 'M:\DB05\DB05.EDB' because it is being used by another process.
During the course of my investigation, I tried to rename the .edb file to .old and was told that the file is in use by Microsoft.exchange.store.worker.exe. There doesn't seem to be a way to kill this process, as every time I've tried I've been told that
access is denied. I'm not even sure it's wise to kill the process anyway (I'm only trying to kill the one with the PID that matches the database).
Attempting to manually reseed the database generates a similar error to the one above. I've failed all the databases over to the other server and restarted the Information Store service as well as the Host Controller service, but so far I can't seem to get
this file unlocked. One article I found did mention making sure that Exchange Servers is listed and given Read access to the folder. I did manually set this but I still see no change. I also verified that Symantec Endpoint Protection is set to exclude .edb
files, and the automatic Exchange exclusions are preventing it from scanning the Exchange install locations.
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions that I might have missed so far. This is confusing the daylights out of me and I'd like to be able to get this reseeded. I suspect that even a full server restart won't clear this up, so any help would be great.
We're just starting to transition users over from Exchange 2007 to 2013, and I'd prefer to have a method of avoiding this in the future before we're in full production.

Thanks for your response, Ed! I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
The ultimate fix for this was a reboot of the server and I was finally able to kick off a reseed. For the sake of thoroughness, here's the last two things we tried before rebooting.
I did try stopping the Symantec Endpoint Protection service on the server, but the job still failed in the same way. I'd also been given the recommendation to try stopping the Information Store service and try a reseed like that. Still no love. I've been
using ProcessExplorer, too, to try and isolate the lock, but didn't have much luck there, beyond what I already knew regarding the store.worker.exe locking the file.
I don't much care for the notion that I needed to reboot the server to remove that lock, I was really hoping for something less intrusive. But at least we've got it working and can move on with our day!
Again, thanks for your response, Ed!

  • TS1382 I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it back up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that

I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still showing 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it backed up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that memory or to get it the music back, there is approximately over 1400 songs on it?

What is the memory being used by, is it Other? If it is, that means the iPod can no longer read the music, so it has put it all in "Other".
The usual fix for this is to allow the iPod to Sync with its iTunes Library. If that doesn't work, the next option is to Restore the iPod using the Restore command in iTunes, on the Device/Summary pane.
Unless you are very (very) lucky, I suspect that you are going to have to Restore your iPod. Restoring will remove everything form the iPod and put back onto it only what it finds in your iTunes Library, which you say is currently empty.
    If you have to rebuild your Library after this issue, by adding all the music back again, this is going to be hard to hear, but for the future, you may want to consider always having a backup of your library. The easiset way to back the Library up is;
if the Library is small enough, burn it to a DVD, as digital files, not a "music CD".
If your Library is too large for a DVD, buy yourself an external hard drive and copy the Library onto the drive. Remember to update the backup every so often.
