HP Install software in endless loop

I needed to install a backup printer on a Windows 7 Home premium laptop. I downloaded the drivers from the HP site, model D2560. When I got to the point of plugging in the usb to connect the printer the software stopped with a fatal error. Followed the prompts to remove the software and reboot. Since then the software tries to install everytime I switch on the laptop. The only way I can stop it 'termporarily' is killing the processes. I can see a 'HP Software Utility in the startup which has been switched off but cannot delete this as it's a MSI package. When I try to uninstall it seem to kick off the install package again. I have successfully installed this printer on another pc but want to get rid of it on the laptop. Hitting cancel during install does nothing and letting it go through the whole process ALWAYS causes it to start all over again on next boot. Thanks.....any ideas!?

Hi @bunchops
Most Fatal Errors include a numbered code, not all but most. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue; A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows.
If the issue persists, please let me know what the error code is (if you find one) so I can determine which document you were redirected to. Thanks.

  • Windows Update in Endless Loop of 'Installing updates" and "Undoing changes" on New Windows 8.1 Pro Install

I am setting new Windows 8.1 Pro computers, and am installing Windows 8.1 Pro to bare drives.  Everything goes fine until Windows Update starts installing updates, and then the computer goes for hours installing updates, and then "We
could not complete the updates Undoing changes".   It's an endless loop. It seems to be the same 38 updates.  This is a recent phenomenon.  I have not run into this until the last week or two on several new computer installs.
Again these are brand new installs, so something is clearly wrong with the Windows updates.
If anyone can please tell me how to avoid this, it would be much appreciated.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
"  This is a recent phenomenon"
Have you made any modifications to the machines ?
To resolve this issue ,running the built-in troubleshoot tool is a very good beginning .It will automatically diagnostic the windows update components and check the configurations for us .
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Fix problems with Windows Update
If there are antivirus software installed in these machines, please turn off them temporarily to have a check.
The command line included in the link as S.Sengupta posted is very useful and convenient to repair the windows corrupted files .We can have a try .
    "sfc /scannow" ,"DISM.EXE /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth "
We also can check the windowsupdate.log for more information to troubleshoot this issue .
     Run "windowsupdate.log"
If you have trouble in analyzing the log ,please upload them to the OneDrive and paste the link here .

  • LMS4.1 soft appliance: Topology Java Install Endless Loop

    Hello,
The installation of the Java Applet is in an installation endless loop. Also after closing all Browser windows many times, Im still kept in the same step as shown in the screenshot of Topology Applet installation. Never experienced the problem in this manner for Windows and Solaris versions of LMS before. Need help.
    Did before:
    1. installed the offered new version of JRE
    2. cleared the JavaCache
    thx for help, Steffen

    Hello Michael,
With creating endorsed and copying those files manual it still doesn’t work.
So it doesnt works without providing write access for endorsed. But I can’t change the permissions of endorsed without having the real local Administrator Account for my company PC. This is just a test from my PC to a LMS Linux appliance in our Lab. But the real end customer will have the same problem: staff from networking department have typical not the original “Administrator” password of the company PC’s given by the PC department.
    PowerShell:
    PS C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\lib> attrib -R endorsed
    PS C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\lib> attrib -R endorsed /S /D
Other ideas to can change permissions of “endorsed” with a user that is just in the local administrator group, but with no chance to get to the original “Administrator” user?

  • Reinstallating elements 10... Licence screen goes in endless loop - solution?

Reinstalling Elements 10 after the price went up for CC-full and I downgraded to just CC-LR and PS. But can't get past accept licence screen. Click OK to accept that and it just goes round in an endless loop where the licence screen reappears each time you click the OK button.
Have a valid licence key and tried both DVD reinstall and download reinstall (This also happened with the original installation after I'd downgraded CC, hadn't used the software while had CC-Premiere Pro, but wasn't using that enough to justify cost of full CC).
Any ideas what the solution is?

    Peak Images
Is Premiere Pro CC still installed? For now I will assume that you are trying to run Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. What is the video card/graphics card that the computer uses? If the card in not NVIDIA GeForce, then.....
Uninstall all traces of Premiere Elements 10 from your computer.
    a. Uninstall the usual Control Panel way.
    b. Do a free ccleaner run through to get rid of any leftovers from incomplete install reinstalls.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
    c. Reinstall Premiere Elements 10 with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Let us start here and then decide what next based on your reported results. If the above uninstall/ccleaner/reinstall scheme does not work, we
may yet try to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 10.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs
file exists. It is also assumed that you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 10 and that you are
running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges. Yes? Have you looked at the situation with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    Thank you.

  • Can I interrupt an endless loop in installation?

Hi, I'm new to Macs and new to Garageband, having messed around on Ataris and PCs for a few years.
Amazed how easy it is to get started.
I laid down my piano part.
Then noted that there might be an update to Garageband so clicked to install it.
OK let's put some strings to back the piano.  O dear, "You have already initiated the installation of additional content for GarageBand via Software Update. For additional information please open the 'Software Update' application." In downloads I find "Garageband6.0.5Update.dmg".
OK, lets open that.  Oh dear, "The version of GarageBand installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available."
    And there isn't.
How do I get out of the endless loop?

For some posters it helped to reinstall GarageBand -
Quit GarageBand and move the application to the trash (but don't empty it).
Log off and on again, to make sure, GarageBand really terminates after quitting.
Sign into the AppStore and now you should see "Install" besides GarageBand. Reinstall.
Make sure, you are still signed into the AppStore, and then try the "update later" method above.
If that does still not work, you may need to do the "full monty" and deinstall completely, see Dagon's post:

  • Endless loop on iMac after OS update, wont recognise wired USB mouse

I just installed an update on my 2010 iMac, running 10.7.5 and it completed successfully, but now I am stuck in an endless loop on startup. The dialog that shows up over the startup screen (user icons showing up correctly behind it) is from the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, and is titled "Bluetooth Mouse or Trackpad Setup". Its telling me there's no wireless mouse or trackpad connected, which is absolutely true. I prefer wired mice and don't use a trackpad with my iMac. There is a Logitech USB mouse attached that I've been using for a long time, it worked fine immediately before the update. It was plugged into my Apple wired keyboard, but I've also rebooted with it plugged into the Mac directly thru a USB port on the back. Same thing both ways.
Its now looping endlessly, saying "Attempting to connect with mouse #1 (hex code follows in parentheses)", then it says "No wireless mice or trackpads have been found. Make sure your wireless mouse is discoverable", then it goes back to the attempting to connect, and so on...
Anybody got a way out of this??

Wow. Would never have believed that was possible (that's why I didnt consider it...). It appears that indeed the software update itself fried the mouse. The same mouse whose last click was to click the "Restart" button on the software update dialog. A different iMac won't recognise it either, and the mouse from that Mac breaks the endless loop from the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Looks like I need to find a new mouse, I wonder if I can still find one with a wire...
Any thoughts on whether this was pure blind coincidental failure, or is there some way a restart itself could damage a mouse somehow??? Hard to imagine the software did it per se, so perhaps it was one final reboot that broke the camel's mouse's back?
    Thanks, Linc.

  • HP C1680 fails to install Software

    Can you please help
I have just reinstalled my operating system Windows 7 6- bit OS and needed to reinstall my printer HP Photosmart C6180 All in One. When I first got my new PC( Dell XPS 501L windows 7 Intel core i5. 243M  2.40GHz)  I originally install the whole package with no issues.
after the reinstall of the OS, this is issue I was I getting when I tried to reinstalled the HP application (AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe )
    Error message:-
    C:\Users\andylouey\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS4864\setup\HPzPNP.ice.
     I have done the following:
Tried to install from an old download of the software.  Result Failed to install message as above.
Tried the original install CD and also tried to use them in various compatibility modes. Result Failed.
Downloaded the critical updates from HP solved the above error message result the above error message was solved.
Downloaded the latest install software program for my HP printer from the HP website tried again to install failed
Ran the HP Scan doctor reported that the printer drivers are all working asked it to run the scan program it reported that it need the full install of the C1680 software to run this
I got the download again ran it. It extracts the file then just disappears and looking at the task manager there is not install running. So again failed
For the second time I downloaded the HP installer network printer wizard but this failed and just keeps going round in circles> It finishes the download gets to the extracting point and then goes back to the identify printer( which is listed) then goes back once again and downloads the install software.
Other steps I have taken. I used the old installation disk to do a complete uninstall of all the drivers and software  using Utilities> CCC> Uninstall_ L2.bat . This wored and uninstalled the printer and drivers and I think any remaining software.  I also deleted all the %TEMP% files that my Laptop would allow.
Then once again I I used the install wizard first without the USB cable disconnected then the wizard asked me to plug it in. I plugged it in and HP Wizard found the printer and downloaded the appropriate software completed the download and extracted it and then NOTHING.
I have also downloaded the critical update:-
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-126392-2&cc=uk&dlc=en&lc=en...
Can you suggest a solution help. In my view I need to start from scratch and remove all traces of any HP software and drivers and start over. My only issue with this I have done this and still have the same issues.  If I go to Microsoft uninstall utility there isn’t anything to uninstall.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
PS. HP wizard has finished downloading for the fourth time and looping to discovering the device again :-( HELP!!!!!!!!
Thanks in adbance for your replies Andy

    Hi
Thank you for your reply and your advice and help
If you look at my help request aboveI have described that I have done your suggetion and yet there are still traces of HP on my hard drive and I am still haveing the same issues.
Below are the steps you have referred to which I covered in my original request :-
Other steps I have taken. I used the old installation disk to do a complete uninstall of all the drivers using CCC> Utilities and Uninstall_L3 . I also deleted all the %TEMP% files  (7z) that my Laptop would allow.
Then once again I I used the install wizard first wit the USB cable disconnected then the wizard asked me to plug it in. I plugged it in and HP Wizard found the printer and downloaded the appropriate software completed the download and extracted it and then NOTHING. Except the drivers were installed and the printer was  shown in the devices and printers.
I have also downloaded the critical update:-
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-126392-2&cc=uk&dlc=en&lc=en...
Can you suggest a solution help. In my view I need to start from scratch and remove all traces of any HP software and drivers and start over. My only issue with this I have done this and still have the same issues. If I go to Microsoft uninstall utility there isn’t anything to uninstall.
I can print to the printer both wirelessly and via the USB port. But the Solution center will not install just keeps looping. ie idenifies the printer downloads the latest sofware and extracts it then just dissapears of the screen. Nothing comes up and there are no HP programs running in the applications task manager and no processes either.
Thank you in advance for your reply. Regards Andy

  • Pop up states i'm being directed to a phishing site and to call "this" number, after I click on OK it just keeps popping up again and will not let me out of an endless loop

I am in an endless loop on my other iMac computer.  I happened upon a page where it said "phishing site ahead" and then a pop up comes on screen telling me to call a certain number and then I click okay and of course do not call and it will not let me out of this endless loop.  Shut down computer, quit Safari, but when I reopen Safari it still takes me to that same page and will not let me out or use any menu items or toolbar items. Just the same little popup box telling me to call a certain number with an OK button and I can't go anywhere or do anything on Safari. What can I do?

Also I copied this from my other computer web page:
Reported Phishing website ahead.  Your network ha been monitored.  Your network has been compromised due to Browser hijacking. The browser hijacking software may redirect you towards phishing websites that try to access your Login Password details.  To fix this browser redirection issue we recommend you ask for instant help.  Help Line 1 877 899 1824.
Then another smaller popup window pops up
    http://www.pcassists.info
    Security Error
    Call Helpline 1877 899 1824
So this is what I was talking  about, and the small popup window plus the larger  Window stating "Reported Phishing website ahead" will not go away and I cannot use Safari anymore even after I shut down my computer, disconnected it, and then signed on again and reopened Safari, it still takes me to that page and I cannot get out of it.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

  • Mac 10.6.8 ical "server responded with an error" endless loop

I get an endless loop. "The Server Responded with an Error "--click OK. Next window "The Server Respnded with an Error"--whether click "go offline" or "return to server" takes me back to first window, ad infinitum. Can't change anything on calendar; cannot access ical Preferences. basically cannot do anything except Force Quit, whether logged into my account or my wife's [registered to my wife's yahoo! email].
Also cannot synch calendars now between imac, iphone, and ipad like we could in beginning. Using 10.6.8 because some of my peripherals not compatible with later.
This problem just started a couple of days ago [the server problem freezing the calendar, it hasn't been working properly for awhile and the calendar synch was lost when a friend upgraded the iphone software.]
What can I do to restore 1] the functionality of the ical? and 2] synching the imac, ipad, and iphone icals?

I read another response to a similar question posted a couple of years ago. I turned off the Wifi, restarted iCal offline, and that eliminated the message. However, as soon as I turned on the Wifi the message again appeared, the app froze requiring a Force Quit, and the game is still afoot. NO SOLUTIONS ANYONE?

I have a playlist where I would like to create an endless loop. Is there a way to accomplish this task? Software Version 1.2.
Someplace I read about going into Settings and down to "repeat" and selecting "all." The settings on my iPod Nano does not show "repeat" in the Settings.

Start your playlist and tap on the screen while the song is playing. Tap on the repeat symbol showing on the screen then select the repeat list symbol on the left hand side.

  • Premiere Elements 12 endless loop of "Sign in Required' popup

I received a license  (Volume Licensing serial number) for Adobe Photoshop and installed. Whenever I try to use the editor, I get in an endless loop of "Sign in Required' popup. I sign in with my Adobe ID, and then nothing happens.  Chatted with Adobe with no resolution.  Our IT folks thought it might be a firewall issue, but it is not.  Been struggling with this for over a month, and need to use the product.

I have a Macbook Pro 13", that was purchased in 2010-2011. So randomly yesterday, when I boot up my computer I got to the boot screen, then code popped up on my screen. ** I have attached an image of the code below.** But after the code pops up, my computer shuts down, and tries to boot up again. This is an endless loop and doesn't get passed the boot screen. The code shows up everytime.
I personally believe this might be a software issue and not a hardware. Please feel free to shoot out any ideas or a translation of what the code is referring to.

What happens if you boot holding the command S keys down?
If it stays running in single user mode
    try the command
    fsck -fy
You could try holding the option key on bootup, to see if presents you with a startup disk however
It looks as if you need to reistall the OS.
