HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Valuable or Not?

I took over full management of the networking side of my companies infrastructure about a year ago and for switching we are a complete HP shop. I was reading about HP IMC a bit over the weekend and it looks interesting, but I couldn't find a lot of real world feedback.
I'd like to figure out if it is a valuable tool and worth the time to demo and seek funding for or if it is not as cool as it looks. Anyone got any thoughts to share?

  • Does Intelligent Management Center Support UPS's?

My IT department is getting Intelligent Management Center to replace some monitoring in SolarWinds. I want to know if Intelligent Management Center supports UPS's and what brands?

[email protected] wrote:Hello everyone! I am curious what everyone does in their standard client accessswitch closet, do you have UPS's in every closet or do you have nice surge suppressors to protect your client access switches?  Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App
How big is your network, and how much money do you have to spend?
I've most recently been working on data-center sized networks, and they tend to be covered by large, center-wide UPS's with generator backup - the UPS and associated rectifiers isolate the protected kit from any chance of surges, so they're not needed on a rack-by-rack basis.
That's not a viable option for a smaller network or client base, so you sometimes need to think outside the box - one place I'm working on has two racks, one large UPS in the bottom of one rack and a PDU for each rack running the essential hardware (switches, servers, not monitors or non essential stuff) running off the one UPS.
There's no one size fits all solution - if you have widely distributed network closets/racks and don't want to put a UPS in each rack, your best bet might be getting switches with redundant power supplies and ensuring each supply runs off a separate electrical phase - since a lot of power outages only affect one phase at a time, you can often survive brief otuages on the secondary supply until the primary is restored.

  • Any Alternatives To HP's ProCurve Manager / Intelligent Management Center

I've got a Windows 2008 R2 server that I'd ideally like to now decommission - as it's one of the last surviving servers that's not 2012 R2. It's sole purpose at the moment is literally just running the HP ProCurve Manager V3 which is a great program - but no longer in development or freeware.I'd like to know if there's any (preferably free) alternative now to ProCurve Manager? It's really handy to see all our switches in one place, their status, firmware version, ports in use etc.The majority of our switches are HP, so anything that can pull the majority of info into one place (like ProCurve manager) would be great.I looked at perhaps exporting the data out of ProCurve Manager and seeing if the software could be installed and the data imported on the new server, but number 1, the software version is out of date - I'd prefer something...

    Hi @KerstinHuhn ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • Host not registering with the Management Center

    Hello,
We have CSA MC v5.2. I have put a pre-defined CSA on a server (seperate from the CSA MC), which installed successfully and the MC sees the host.
However, although a pre-defined CSA is successfully installed on a host (non-server), I am unable to get the MC to see it. On the host, the CSA simply states that it's, "Not registered with the Management Center."
    Please help in resolving this.
Also, is there a Windows Vista fix? Currently, I am unable to get the CSA to install on Vista.

  • Records Management Center 'Submit a Record' webpart does not work

So I built a records management center for our HR documents and it has been working great until this morning.
Suddenly the 'Submit a Record' webpart that came default with the page no longer works, it just refreshes the page when used.  Any help in fixing the webpart would be appreciated, and failing that if I could get a link or instructions on how to make
a new one that would help too.

Hi MSGX, I'm guessing something may have been changed on the administration end. Check the following link for what to look for and possible fixes (ignore the error messages, I think your problem is similar and you're just not seeing them):

The following instructions about  the "Code Purple" error FAILED. Error is still present.

***Windows 7 code purple or Windows Vista code purple***
With the code purple error on the screen, press shift+f10 (the shift key and the F10  key (at the top of the keyboard) at the same time) to open a little screen called a  command prompt. Type the following line, just as you see it here...
    notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd

    C:\>notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd

Go to the beginning of the text. Press enter to make a space. Type this...
    goto cleanup
So, whatever comes after, the first line looks like this...
    goto cleanup
Save the file and exit notepad and restart your PC. You are good to go.

  • How to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center ?

    Hello people,
I want to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center platform.
If I'm not wrong, SunMC doesn't run for Solaris x86, server and client only as console with Java.
In speat of it, I try to install Sun Management Center 3.0 Agent for Solaris x86.
It seems to be ok, install packages, but when execute es-setup script, intents to create the following directory:
    /opt/SUNWsymon/base/bin/sparc-sun-solaris2.8
I supose that in this directory, SunMC will install sparc binary files
At this point, I can't follow the installation and abort it.
Can anybody give me ideas to install and integrate my solaris x86 server on SunMC ?

    Hi
From the Unix prompt enter oemapp console(for v9.x). If you are using earlier versions it is oemapp console (for starting the console) and oemapp dbastudio(for starting dba studio)
For starting OMS enter: oemctrl start oms.
    Hope this helps

  • Sun Management Center and Reduced Core Installs

    hey all,
I just discovered the Sun Management Center and the tool looks great for the servers I need to manage. However due to security reasons all our servers are installed as Reduced Network Core installs where we then add the minimal extra packages.
At the moment I am still testing everything but I am a bit stuck here and I believe that I might be missing some packages. I can get the server to find the agent but there I cannot load any of the modules. Sniffing the traffic does seem to show that the info is sent ( a list of names I recognise as module names) but the console does not show anything and reports an error unable to load module info.
Is there a full package list that is required to run the management center server and client? The agent runs fine on my desktop but that is a full install.
I already noticed the command ping is required, but am unsure about snmp daemons. What other packages will i need to install? The manual doesn't really give any information on that and seems to start from a full install

    Never mind,
The problem was in the firewall who was defragmenting packets. Once I disabled that feature the server worked fine.
Seems just ping is enough to get the installer working.

  • Solaris Management Center 4.0 install?

    Hi,
I've recently been testing a T5140 and have installed management center 4.0 with the solaris container manager add-on. The install whet fine, however when I go to the web console all I see is the sun management center and when I click on it nothing happens. As well as the solaris container manager does not show up even though it's installed and configured. Any ideas, on how to get the solaris container manager in the webconsole?
    Charley,

The HWDS suite was an embedded application that Sun's SunVTS application team wrote and shipped in SunMC. In the past SunVTS was a per system test suite and SunMC allowed it to have an enterprise view. A few weeks ago SunVTS 7.0 was released that now has an enterprise view. Thus they have removed the feature from SunMC.

    failed.

I've run into this a while back, BULK INSERT operations failing with no apparent reason.
Reapplying the latest SQL Server service pack and/or the latest MDAC (on the MC system) resolved the problem.
I would start with the MDAC refresh, it may be enough to fix this.

    Hi
I’m experiencing problems installing an IDS on CiscoWorks2000 Management Center for IDS Sensors. • CR068 Work center category Z006 does not exist

In Customizing transaction 'OP40', I inserted the application 'N' (Networks) for setting the task list application of a work center category Z006 to be used in PS (Project System)
Three weks ago I used transaction CR01 to create some work centers with Z006 category to be used in networks of a Project with no problem; but now I want to create another work center with transaction CR01, and I get the error message CR068 Setting:`Work center category Z006 does not exist' although the work center category has been maintained.
This work center category was not deleted in customizing, I can see the last work centers created in table CRHD.
I followed the steps described in the SAP note 15657 - (Setting the work center category is not permitted) of course using the task list application N.
I would like to get some help.
    Regards.
    Rafael Di Giovann T

    Hi,
Do you have authorization to see OP40 customization in that client, if yes, then kindly check and confirm whether configuration with respect to Z006 is still there in that client  or its deleted/ overwritten with some valuable changes. The work center that had been created in past will definitely be there in CRHD table/ system irrespective of the configuration changes to their work center category.
