HP is unable to provide update instructions or Windows 8.1 drivers.

Question

You may lose basic functionality and stability if you try to update your system. About this message. I have 3 HP's, one with Windows 7 upgraded to Windows 8 (which will not update to 8.1 because of the error listed above), another HP that had Vista Home Premium upgraded to Windows 8 (which also received the same errors and wouldn't update to 8.1) that Vista has now been upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro and works fine. The Vista with the Windows Pro had a sound problem from a prior Windows automatic update and none of their techs could fix it (all it took was to reload the original Monitor disk and it fixed it). I have another HP Vista that has major problems because years ago parental controls were put on it and now not even Microsoft can get them off. I had purchased the Windows 8 upgrade and they ended up refunding my money. I am going to try to do a clean install of Windows 8 Pro on it this week, I have nothing to loose because of the way the Microsoft techs have left it, it makes it almost impossible to do anything on it. As it sits right now it has Vista Home Premium and part Windows 8 (that one of their sales people had partially downloaded and left it hanging in safe mode). My question is when I get the disk for the Windows 8 Pro and install it, will it fix the parental control problems and the partial load of Windows 8? Or does the drive need to be reformatted for it so that all that junk is wiped out? This HP Vista Home Premium is a HP Pavilion A6514F PC Product #KT371AAHABA (Oh, HP no longer supports it either (purchased in 2008)). You can get to eventually for hardware upgrade information on their site the bio fixes were never allowed through Windows, but I have learned how to deal with them.

After weeding through that post, if seems the only question is "when I get the disk for the Windows 8 Pro and install it, will it fix the parental control problems and the partial load of Windows 8? Or does the drive need to be reformatted for it so that all that junk is wiped out?
In order to get rid of all of the problems a reformat and a clean install is needed.  IMHO, the previous attempts to fix this problem will continue to plague the PC until all is wiped out.
