HP Laptop motherboards compatibility.

Hello agin my well experienced HP friends!
I have, at this time, a question about 2 laptops. First, I have an HP DV9910-us. It had Vista, which has been upgraded to Win. 7. Now, I had posted this question before,  about the sound issue, This one works well, however, it has no sound. Everything checks out, and I have done the "uninstall, & re-install" the required drivers. Nothing worked.
The popular opinion is that the sound section of the motherboard is N/G. Now,  I have purchased an HP DV 9812, with the same components. They are both: AMD Turion X2 64 @ 2.0 processors. The parts one I just purchased, has no LCD in the top compartment section. But, the seller states it works fine on an external monitor hooked up to it. Boots up, and loads Windows.
So, I guess my question is: will the motherboards be compatibile? The do have the same configuration. I am going to only switch out the motherboards from each. Will this be o.k.? Love to hear some opinions!
Thanks for your time folks!

Should be compatible. Technically they are both part of the dv9700z model line. Worst case one is "defeatured" and the other "full featured" which might mean you have a port on the chassis that has no corresponding hardware on the board (open hole) or you have something on the board that is blocked by the case and you have to use a dremel tool to open a hole in the case. Might be a stupid question but why swap motherboards? Why not just move the display (screen housing) over from the dv9910 to the dv9812 chassis and leave the motherboard in its housing? Still not an easy job but I have disassembled a few dv9000s and would want to avoid trying to remove the motherboard. Big job. Lots of subassemblies and ribbon cable going all over the place.
By the way I would check this myself (i.e. specs of the two units) but the two model numbers both need the last 2 letters to find correct specs and you did not give it for the dv9812.

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • DV7-3110eg laptop motherboard

I have a DV7-3110eg notebook with a VGA failure. It was repaired because of a VGA failure, but the error is here again. It can't turn on, leds light on for a moment but the laptop can't turn on. I need a motherboard but I can't buy it in the HP Partstore because it's not available in Hungary. I would like to buy a new one from the HP, but I don't know, how could I order it. If it's impossible, I would like to buy a used one wich is in a good working condition. The type of the motherboard is 574680-001.  Thanks for the answers!

Here is one on eBay Germany and the seller ships worldwide:
    http://www.ebay.de/itm/HP-DV7-AMD-laptop-motherboard-574680-001-tested-/180708035338?pt=DE_Elektroni...
The cost is likely much less than HP would charge.

  • My laptop motherboard burnt and I can't find international assistance.

I bought two HP Pavilion tx1030la Notebook PC in Chile. I lived and worked there.
Then I moved back to Brazil.
1 and 1/2 year later one of them had its motherboard toasted. The second one, less used, already lost the wireless and the screen goes blank very often. It will burn soon.
From day 1, both were extremely hot at the vents, but since both were like this, I figured it should be some design flaw.
I couldn't expect to lose 2 expensive laptops, with touchscreen, voice recognition, handwriting recognition, fingerprint recognition, full multimedia package, TL50 Processor AMD Turion 64X2, 120GB hard disk Enhanced IDE 5400 RPM SATA, 1024 MB RAM 667Mhz DDR2, DVD+-RW with Lightscribe, Windows Vista, Graphics NVidia and so on.
Now I know I am not alone out there. It happened with a whole bunch of other people and it follows the same steps: too hot, screen going blank, problems turning on and then death by heat. And sometimes, in the process, losing the wireless function.
Now I know it wasn't a design flaw. It is an engineering flaw.
But what's boiling for me? Well, besides having lost 2 new laptops... I am in an HP assistance limbo. I've been tossed into oblivion, only because I live in a different country than the country of purchase.
So, because I moved from one country to another, HP is diregarding the problem, as if it did not exist. HP US does not respond. HP Chile does not respond. HP Brazil said, over the phone, that laptops bought abroad won't be serviced in Brazil, but wouldn't put this into writing.
In my frustrated contact attempts with HP assistance I had just a few simple questions:
    1) Is 1 and ½ years the expected life span of an HP Laptop?
    2) Is it a flaw in the project that they get so hot? (now I know this problem is big, with many customers around the globe suffering from the same problem.)
    3) What can I do to prevent the second one from burning too? (in a vain effort to stretch the life of the second one, I updated the bios and increased the RAM to max specs)
    4) What can HP do to help me with my burned laptop?
So, anyone out there can shed a light into this? I will be grateful.

While I hope GarenT can assist you, I did want to mention that the heat issue is not - to my knowledge - a problem with one particular notebook, but more a problem with notebooks in general.  You have all the same stuff that you put in a desktop in a much smaller amount of space, often used on laps and in warm environments for long periods of time.  To keep your other notebook from having heat-related issues, please make sure to ALWAYS use a cooling pad with it, preferably with a gap between the bottom of your notebook and the fans from the cooling pad, with the fans on.

    hello again
Will tell you the whole story and maybe we can help with
My Laptop toshiba satelite P500 initially did interupt on the screen when the lid opens and closes .
Then i open it to see what happens. Detected the error in Lcd cable, when i bend it the screen goes black and when i leave it working normally. I Pulled out the lcd flat cable from the motherboard but when i put it again situating wrong with effective to bend the terminals of the connector board and shorting which would burn a transistor in the motherbaord ( pulled fumes from motherbaord and the lcd cable)
I have remove the lcd from laptop and when i pressing the Power buton it lit for 5 sec the Power led and then turn off for 5 sec and it continues if you leave it without loading the operating system
If i put an external monitor, the laptop starts normally and loads the operating system
I looked on ebay and finally bought a motherboard with cable lcd to board
But when placing the laptop and pressed the Power buton again illuminated for 5 sec the Power led and then turn off for 5 sec and it continues if you leave it without loading the operating system
The LCD displays nothing and is black.\
I put an external monitor, the laptop starts normally and loads the operating system
The LCD does not display anything again
    What could be wrong
    is this motherboard is damaged
    damaged lcd
    damaged Inverter
    damaged graphics card
If one has this model can make the Test to remove the lcd cable from the PCB and test to see if it starts Laptop
If you do not start in his own then definitely not blame the motherboard nor the graphics card
Should then i check the inverter and lcd display

  • Sdram motherboard compatibility

I want to buy two PQI 256MB sdram cards for a machine, but I am concerned about compatibility problems. Do you think the ram will work with an Award motherboard produced in 1998, and a Pentium3 800mhz? anyone with a similar setup?

  • MacBook Pro/iMac/IBM laptop - Wireless compatibility?

I have just had a BT Business line installed at home so I can use my work laptop (IBM) at home. BT sent us a wired modem that works with the IBM but the Mac's don't like it! We are looking to upgrade to wireless and want to get an Airport Extreme but I need somone to tell me if the desktop can become wireless via a wireless card or if the only option is to connect via an ethernet cable. Is this a USB modem?
In this case you will need to upgrade to an ethernet modem.
    Check out the following website.

As most ADSL Modem Routers are setup through a web browser you should be fine with a Mac.
Personally I use plusnet and Netgear ADSL Modems. One is a DG834G combined device and the other is a DM602 Modem Router connected to an AEBS.
I would also check out ADSL Nation's X-Modem M3 http://www.adslnation.com/products/xmodem-m3.php It is also now available from the UK Apple store and retail stores.
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore?productLearnMore=TJ151
which can also be used in conjunction with an AEBS or AX.

You may want to consider an integrated Wireless ADSL Modem Router to have a single device on the phone line rather than two.

  • Solaris 8 IA SMP Motherboard compatibility

    Hi,
I've just got the solaris binaries from Sun. I am looking forward to building a dual-CPU machine for Solaris and Oracle. Most likely it's gonna be DUAL PIII (FCPGA or slot1). I have checked the HCL for popular and relatively inexpensive dual-cpu motherboards (Asus, Abit, Tyan, Gigabyte ...) and infortunately I haven't found them on the list. Is anybody currently runing a dual-CPU machine on one of these boards? If so, please tell me which board and CPUs you are using. I have heared from guys who run Abit BP6 dual-PPGA celerons just fine. But I am looking buy coppermine CPUs.
    Thank you in advance
    Max

"2.4 Intel processor" smells like a Pentium 4 type CPU. Early Solaris 8 releases don't support the Pentium 4.
Try the kadb patch, documented on the following web page:

  • BT Infinity and laptop processor compatability

I have just ordered BT Infinity to be installed in October 2012.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with an Intel Pentium Dual Core !.60 GHz processor. The laptop utilises Vista Home Edition with Service Pack 2. The RAM memory is 2 GB and have installed a 'n' type USB wireless adapter.
The BT Home Hub 3, hopefully, will be using 'n' type wireless network.
The BT Infinity installataion web page calls for the processor to have a minimium specification of 2 GHz.
Will my existing laptop with an Intel Pentium Dual Core !.60 GHz processor work with BT Infinity using 'n' type wireless network?
BT Infinity Help Desk could not confirm that it will work, so any advise would be welcome.

That only refers to all of the extra BT software, which you do not need anyway, as it will work without it.
Just enter the wireless key into your laptop, and it should be fine.

  • Powerbook G4 aluminum motherboard compatability.

    Hello,
I have a one year old powerbook g4 15" with a dead motherboard. Its processor runs at 1.67 MHz so it should have an bus speed of 333 MHz. If I replace the motherboard with one that has a 400 MHz bus speed, would it work?

Some are interrchangeable; others not. You have a 1.67GHz PB, and I presume you don't want to replace your LB with a slower one. You can't replace it with a faster one, because there isn't any. If your PB has the high-resolution 1440 x 960 display, there's only one LB that makes any sense to use. If it has the older 1280 x 854 display, and you'd like to replace it with the newer one that has more VRAM, call any of the following highly knowledgeable parts vendors to ask whether that will work (phone numbers are on their web sites):
