Hi,
Upgrading CPU won't help. You need a good video card too and upgrading video card on laptops is not easy like walking in a park. I don't know the model/product of your laptop but looking at its CPU, all I can say: forget the plan to upgrade and saving money to buy a games laptop if you wish.

  • TS1967 I got a new Windows 8 laptop, upgraded Itunes and all my music is missing, including album names. Help!

Recently had to get a new laptop, everything was showing up correctly on the old one in the process of transferring music as far as playlists and albums. I recently went to sync my Classic and found it had most of my albums missing completely or the titles changed to "Unknown Album." My playlists are missing completely, and my "most played, etc" albums are blank. This is all on the new laptop, I haven't tried to plug in the ipod Classic or Iphone 4s to sync yet since the original transfer a month ago.
I'm not sure if this was due to the transfer between computers or new Itunes upgrade. Any info you can give would help. I'm running a windows 8 laptop.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Which is better 7200 RPM HDD or SSD for laptop upgrade to boost rendering times?

    This is my current setup
    RAM: 8GB
    Processor: Intel Core i7-3630QM
    GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 635M - 2GB
    OS: Windows 8.1
    Storage: 1TB 5400 RPM HDD
I am going to start editing raw footage in premiere pro. I would like to update my laptop to help with rendering times. Tommorow I will be installing 16GB of RAM. Which will be better for storage a 7200rpm HDD or and SDD drive? I am seeing conflicting views on the web. I figured that this will be the best place to ask, since I am upgrading primarily for this program. I appreciate the help.

No clue what would be conflicting between the two. Both the internal operating speed of data handling and the i/o to the system over any sustained period of time are so vastly higher for a modern and large-ish SSD compared to any HDD that it is a total no-brainer. In fact, on the tweaker's page, they point out that for a really monster system, set up RAID's of multiple SSD's. Lacking that, RAID's of four or five linked fast LARGE HDD's which will be noticeably slower than the SSD option but typically better than single HDD's, even using one for each part of the process.
For both the processing of data to present a view on the monitor during editing and during rendering, it's not the "burst" speed numbers that count ... it's the sustained long-term data transfer counts that matter. Which are different from what many think they are ...

  • G500 laptop upgraded to windows 8.1 now have a message missing a driver

My G500 laptop just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now my alert action center message tray says I am missing a driver?
I can’t find anything missing? I looked through all the devices 5 times but nothing is marked with a question mark or similar?
    Any thoughts?

    Hi deagonslair2013
What you describe has been happening since the preview, Because all devices on a network talk to each other the driver error may not be on your G500 but on another device on the network.
For instance: I own a G700 & G505, I connected a tablet to the G505 & it installed the device but could not find any drivers for that device, Since then my G700 has been showing a driver missing although all devices are working fine on the G700 in device manager.
If you have any other laptops or desktops on your network with device drivers missing disable those devices & re-run the hardware scan on your G500 & see if that is the cause.
Edit What version of Lenovo solution center do you have installed, It should be version 2.3.002.
If your version has a .18 in the string its out of date & you need to update to the above version.
    Hope that helps!
    And welcome to the forum.

I upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10 and most of my programs do not display correctly, I think I needwindows 10  driver for display.

Hi sorokateam, welcome to the forums,
you can find drivers for the L440 on the following support site.  I would suggest installing the chipset driver before the graphics driver if you haven't already installed it.

The listed drivers are for other model with Nvidia GPU. Upgrading the GPU for notebook means you need to buy a new motherboard since GPU is soldered in the motherboard. Buying new motherboard would be the almost the half of the notebook price.
The current Intel chipset would fit your daily activities.

    Hi:
See if Windows Update finds an audio driver as follows...
    Be connected to the internet.
Go to the device manager and click on the multimedia audio controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on update driver and select the automatic search.
It may take a few minutes for windows to search the windows update driver database.
If it comes back negative, try this XP driver...
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-44349-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
If that XP driver fails to work, try this XP driver...

  • Laptop upgrade - low budget disk setup

    Hi,
I have read many great posts in this forum about this topic (especially about disk setup byHarm Millaard ). However, I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the data. My laptop is quite old and weak (maybe too weak) for Premiere Pro/After Effects in terms of usability. Before I start investing in new PC, I would like to give my current one a try. I am wondering if proper disk setup (scratch disk) would make a difference.
My budget would allow me to choose one of the below options:
a)one external ~128 GB SSD drive (USB 3 or eSATA),
b)one 7200 rpm external HDD (USB 3 or eSATA), eventually TWO
c)other disk setup suggestions within such budget?
    d)other non-disk setup suggestions?
I produce 1080p videos, up to ~5 minutes duration.
    My current laptop specs:
    Dell Studio 1555
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz
    RAM: 4GB
1 HDD: 500 GB 7200 rpm 16 mb cache sata
1 external 1TB 5200 rpm HDD USB 3 (I use it for backup at the moment)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 512 MB
    eSATA
USB 3 (will use a epxress card with USB 3)
    Thanks in advance,
    Kamil

....when I first started...trying to edit HD content with PPro CS4, I had a laptop like yours. At the time, I didnt know ANYTHING and foolishly BELIEVED the "minimum requirements" listed by Adobe to use PPro. I wound up pulling my hair out as NOTHING would work...EVERYTHING froze up. Then, I started reading HERE on this forum posts by Harm Millard, Bill Gherke, and others about what REALLY was needed to run this professional level software.Temporarily, I discovered I could " transcode" the highly compressed ORIGINAL clips into another codec that the laptop could edit. This is something you can try with the free Cineform codec, available at GoPro website.
However, your machine is TERMINAL....a remnant of the past...you need to take it to a FIRING RANGE and yell PULL as you throw it into the air and witness its destruction via a loud shotgun blast !!! What you want is to edit NATIVELY the original footage in an easy manner. PPro has since improved GREATLY...now, its entirely 64 bit and has MANY improvements that have improved performance SIGNIFICANTLY.
You are going to need an i7 machine that is hyperthreaded, that runs over 3 Ghz, that has 32 GB system memory, that has a good NVidia graphics card,7xx series,or, better. Then, fast storage is a great help with performance. Using ONE quality SSD for OS, programs and pagefile is a MUST. Windows 8.1 is BEST because it does NOT have the memory limit of Windows 7 Home premium of 16GB, and HAS better support for USB 3 devices. Just get a new machine ...you can do FINE with a Haswell laptop with memory maxxed out and Crucial M550 SSDs in it,( 2 drive bays)...AND the 7xx series, ( or better), mobile NVidia GPU.
Or, build a new Haswell E based desktop machine....the mid- level CPU is affordable with great 6 core performance.

  • Laptop upgrade

I have an HP Compaq Presario C500 that I bought in 2007.  I would like to upgrade the RAM from what I have now (256 Mb).  One of my sons states that I can upgrade to only 1 Gb or I risk burning out the motherboard.  My other son states that I can put in two DDR2 RAM chips from 1 Gb to 4 Gb with no problems.
So here is the question, which one is correct?

asandwich is correct.  The computer is upgradable to 1 GB of Ram.  Also, make sure you only use DDR2 RAM like your other son said.

  • HP530 Laptop Upgrade Advice

I have an old HP530 that I want to do a few upgrades to so I can keep it useful as a spare when it is needed. I have been reading a lot of forums but I am a bit confused as to what I exactly need to get to do what I want to do.
What I have is the following:
    Processor:                        Intel® Core™ Duo CPU   T2300 @1.66GHz   1.67GHz
    Memory (RAM):               1.00 GB
    System Type:                  32-Bit Operating System
    Model Number:               HP530
    Product Number:           GU337AT#ABA
What I want to do is expand the RAM to 4GB, I have read several forums where this was possible. I want to put in a new Cooler Fan that is better than what is already in it. Put in a bigger Processor, the biggest that it can handle. And a bigger hard drive, 500GB would be plenty.
Could someone please let me know what I need to get to do all of this, and also where I need to go to get it at a decent price? I know this is an old system, but it has proven to be invaluable to us at several times and we would like to put a little bit of money into it to keep it going for a few more years.
Also, am I able to upgrade to a better operating system? Windows 7 or 8? Just a thought.

You would spend less money (and much less time) just buying a new entry-level notebook (which would be much faster).
If you wish to upgrade, I'd only recommend RAM (Max is 2GB TOTAL) and a new SSD (hard drive).

It looks like both laptops use 1.8" drives and also Windows 7 64 Professional. If the drive fits in go ahead. If you get the none genuine message on Windows, phone Microsoft and reactivate it by phone.

IMO, you are better off installing - [http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20P.E.%20Legacy/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Edition%202.0.0.20%20Repack/FirefoxPortableLegacy20_2.0.0.20_English.paf.exe/download Firefox Portable 2.0.0.20] - to your hard drive for the few web sites that are so out of date that they don't support newer versions of Firefox. That way you don't need to fool around with a separate Profile for 2.0.0.20, and there is less chance of a another version / Profile of Firefox getting "contaminated" by that old version or you losing private data if your get the Profiles switched.
