HP Laserjet 1012 Windows 7 64-bit Driver

I cannot find a Windows 7 64-bit driver for my Laserjet 1012. Has anyone else had any luck?

Win 7 X64 works with my Trusty HP Laserjet 1012.
From Start/Devices and Printers.
Choose add a printer.
Had to use Windows update at the bottom of the install printer driver window because the HP Laserjet 1015 was not on the list of HP printers. But after the update there it was "HP Laserjet 1015".
I did the intstall and it is working on my Win7 x64 machine and Office 2010. By the way, I chose Generic IEEE 1284.4 as the printer port (See comment below)
If you look on the HP website, they show the most recent drivers only for Vista x64 but the drivers are for the HP Laserjet 1010, 1012, 1015. So 1015 drivers will work but I did the install through Windows add printer as stated earlier in this thread and seems Win7 offers support for this legacy printer.
Comment:
Oddly the HP HP Laserjet 1012 also shows in unspecified devices on the Devices and printers page and did so before I installed the printer...I could not delete it but right clicking and Running Troubleshout gave me the choice to fix it saying "The driver for Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support is not installed. Install the latest driver for the device." I believe chosing Apply this fix would have made it work. I am hoping on reboot it dissapears from unspecified. I will repost later

    Hello B-I-F,
The drivers for the HP Color Laserjet 2840 are already "built" into Windows 7. Here is a link regarding how to install them:

  • FRUSTRATED - windows 7 64 bit driver HP 6500 709e all in one won't install on 2 computers

    Hi,
My son and I both got new laptops for Christmas.  I have had nothing but problems installing our wireless printer with its full features.  My son's computer is a Dell, mine is a Toshiba.  From what I could find both needed the same driver but both have had MAJOR issues getting the install to complete and installing the device. Somehow I was able to get it installed on my Toshiba but the "fix" I used didn't work on the Dell.  PLEASE HELP! Thanks
    Carol
Sorry I realized I did add much information.  The printer is the 6500 all in one deskjet 709e.  I have tried installing the 64 bit, windows 7...i also downloaded the update. Eventually it worked for my Toshiba laptop but still can't get it to install on my son's dell.
    After numerous tries,
I downloaded the driver for windows 7, 64 bit driver and then downloaded the update.  The driver/software wouldn't install the device until I did the update (for my Toshiba) but this is not working for the Dell.  Also I did download the troubleshooter and it was useless!

Welcome to the HP Forums Zoney,
I read your post which indicates that you are getting a "MICROSOFT VISUAL C ++RUNTIME LIBRARY" error, when trying to install the printer software. I can help you with this.
Download and install this Patch> Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error.
    Uninstall the printer software.
Before installing the printer software again, setup the Admin rights on the computer.
Run Command Prompt as Administrator. Go to the start menu, type “CMD” in the search bar. Now, you should see a shortcut for CMD above. Right click on it, and click “run as administrator”. If it asks you for administrative permission, please allow permission. In your Command Prompt window (as administrator), type the following and hit Enter: net user administrator /active:yes
You should see a message saying "the command completed successfully". After troubleshooting is done, you can disable this account by typing the following command into Command Prompt (as administrator): net user administrator /active:no.
Restart the computer, and utilize the new account that is available, which should be named "Administrator".
Here are some more steps you can try if you are still getting the Runtime error.
But it is looking more like a Operating System issue.
Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, 2008 and 2005 Redistributable Packages.
You will find the download links to these packages below:
    2005 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=26347
    2008 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=5582
    2010 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632
    Try the installation again please.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Windows 7 64 bit driver for the Zen Vision M?

    - Where EXACTLY can I find the Windows 7 64-bit driver for the Zen Vision M? My new computer came with it installed in Windows Media Player 2, but the driver became corrupt. I can't seem to find that driver on the Creative or Microsoft download websites. Please Help!

The driver is nati've to Windows. Creative does not write the MTP driver. I would suggest re-install WMP2 or contact Microsoft for advice if it is corrupt. As for software to use the player on a 64 Win 7system? there is nothing for the Vision M. You may want to read this page? http://support.creative.com/KB/showarticle.aspx?sid=605&h=3

    Hi:
See if the W7 x64 drivers and software from this model work on yours.  Don't use any BIOS or firmware files from this model.
To install the graphics, you have to install the Intel chipset installation utility first and reboot.
Then install the Intel HD graphics driver and reboot.
Then install the Nvidia graphics driver and reboot.

  • LaserJet 1022 on Windows 8 64-bit driver problem

    Hello!
After I've upgraded my computer and installed Windows 8 my printer LaserJet 1022 won't work - the drivers fail to install.
    Operating system: Windows 8 64-bit
Printer: HP LaserJet 1022 connected via USB
I 'm trying to install latest drivers for 64-bit system (driver version 2012.918.1.57980 [18.09.2012]) and getting an error message that the driver cannot be installed because of a policy blocking NT4.0 drivers.
In the device manager the printer is listed in the 'Other devices'.
I have read forum topics on Windows 8 drivers installation but none of the solutions worked for me.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Pavel.

    Hi @debblong ,
I see that you are having issues installing the printer on Windows 8. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
To access the Start in Windows 8 to do the steps provided in the previous post, in desktop mode, press the Windows key and R at the same time, to show the run command line. Then you can type in %temp% to access the files to delete them.
For the printer not being detected, we can try a few things.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and turned on, and the USB cable is connected directly to one of the back USB ports on the computer if using a Desktop, if you are using a Laptop try another USB port.
The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet.
Is the cable a 2.0 or 3.0 cable? How to determine whether a USB 3.0 device is operating at SuperSpeed?
Is the USB port on the computer 2.0 or 3.0?
Follow these steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for any printer entries.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.
In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for USB printing support, (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected) right click and uninstall it. If you have any others with exclamation mark or other devices in the list, delete them also.
Let me know what it showed in the device manager.
Then click on Action, across the top of the window and scan for new hardware.
If the printer wasn't listed at all in the Device Manager, try another USB port on the computer and another USB cable.
Restart the computer and the printer also to see if the printer will be detected.
If the printer still isn't recognized, if you have another computer, connect the printer to it to see if it is recognized.
Just to rule out a USB port on the computer, USB cable or hardware issue with the USB port on the printer.
Here is the link to the driver page, if you need it. HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • I need driver for laserjet 4000n windows 7 64 bit

When I try to install my Laserjet 4000N printer on my HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC running windows 7 64 bit I am prompted to select windows update. The response is always "Windows was unabl;e to get a list of devices from Windows update. Try again later"
When I go to the HP site and try to download the driver i get a message "You do not need to download drivers for this product. Print drivers for your product are available within the Windows 7 operating system. Use Devices and Printers, formerly known as the Add Printer Wizard, to obtain the Windows 7 update. For more information,  go to Install the Printer Driver through the Windows 7 Operating System"
A perfect Catch 22. What do I do now?

  • Windows 7 64 bits driver for HP LaserJet 1200

The drivers available on HP's web sites do not work on our Windows 7 64 bits computers.
Does someone know about a workable driver?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Good news. There is a solution.
HP Laserjet 1200 or 1300, and possiblly more Laserjet models have the same problem with Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit . My desktop is XP (32 bit) with a shared HP Laserjet 1200. I have no problem to share it with my other XP and Vista 32 bit laptops through wireless network at home. But I just purchased a new HP Windows 7 64bit laptop and I could not install the shared printer even through I used the downloaded HP universal printer drivers for Windows 64 bit. I searched the HP support forums and found this link was very helpful.
    http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1301542
Now my Windows 7 64 bit is working with the shared HP Laserjet 1200. Here is the solution from the link and I added some more details.
    1. Disconnect the printer from the desktop computer on the network. Then, connect the printer directly to the new Window 7 64 bit (or Vista 64 bit) laptop using the USB cable. The laptop loads the correct driver automatically.
    2. Print a test page. (This is an important step.)
    3. Disconnect the printer from the laptop and reconnect it back to the desktop.
    4. Open the list of printers of the new Windows 7 64 bit laptop, find the LaserJet printer. Right click and open "Printer properties" (not the "Properties" at the bottom of list).
    5. Find the "ports" tab. Change from the USB port (DOT4_xxx) to the network connection. If you do not know how to change it to network connection, click "Add Port", then click "Local Port". Typed in " \\your_desktop_pc_name\your_shared_printer_name " (This is just an example.). Click OK to save it.
    6. Print another test page.
Following the above steps, you will have a shared HP Laserjet 1200 PCL5 printer. To change it to PCL6 printer driver, you will need to use the downloaded HP Universal Drivers for Windows 64 bit. I will not discuss it here.
Thanks to the first person who came out this great idea.

  • Driver Laserjet 4+ Windows 7 64 bit

The referenced printer is connected to my wife's XP machine. I shared it by way of a computer share from my Win7 machine. After changing my OS from 32 to 64 bit it appears that there is no machine specific 64 bit driver.
I beleive the LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5 driver will work with the referenced but I cannot find the 64 bit driver for it on HP's site.
Further, I'm not sure how to tell the OS, add printer, network how to use a driver different in name than that of the machine--nor where to put the driver assuming there is one?
    Mark

I also couldn't find a 64bit driver for my HP device so I tried to install a 32bit driver "as administrator" and it worked. It may also work if you will extract the 32bit driver for Win 7 to get the driver .inf file. I have installed my printer by choosing the printer manually (set the IP address), the system found the printer and through "have a disk" and .inf file installed it. The printer works and I haven't connected it to my laptop (nor used a setup cd) at all..

  • Laserjet 1505 Windows 7 64 bit problems

    Hello,
I work for a community college in the IT dept. We are currently upgrading our computers to Windows 7 64 bit OS. I have two computers which have a Laserjet 1505 with them. I have tried several combinations of drivers, including the downloadable CD equivalent software. I can get the test page to print out just fine but when i leave and the user try's to print anything it starts to go through a sequence of trying to print for at least 3 rotations. The error lights will flash in sequence and no error message pops up on the screen. If I log into a local admin account and try printing a test page the error will seem to go away, for a time at least. However printing on envelopes may slow down. It seems as though this may be a permissions issue. A power cycle will also seem to wreck havoc on the printer as well. I dont think this is a driver issue because things seem to change just by changing logged in user. However I could be wrong about that. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would first like to thank the HP tech support for all the help with this issue. Your dedication to your customers was pivotal in this 3 week long troubleshooting process.
Now for anyone out there who may have a similar problem and don't feel like being jerked around for more money by the greedy corporation HP, Ill share my fix for this issue.
Log in to an administrator account and then go to Devices and printers.  Right click on the P1505 printer icon and select Printer Properties.  Go to the security tab at the top.  Select everyone and give them all the options in the check boxes that you can.  This includes Manage this Printer, Manage Documents and Print.  This solved the issue of the printer slowing down and "Practicing printing" before actually printing.
I don't know why these privileges were causing the printer to fault but it appears that there was some change in how the default settings operate between XP and windows 7.

  • Hp laserjet 1022 windows 7 (64 bit) won't install printer, what can i do?

    1. HP LaserJet 1022 Printer

    4. The only changes made to the system are security upgrades from Windows Updater. This is a new computer and the old one was running XP.
I have tried removing the printer, downloading newer software (lj1020-HB-pnp-WIN64-en) and trying to install it, adding the printer through windows and still the printer will not work. The cd version will run until it asks you to plug in the printer and then nothing happens. I even tried leaving it running overnight to see if it would find it and install, but nothing happened. This printer is a workhorse for me and I would like to keep it running, any suggestions on getting this printer recognized and running again?
