HP LaserJet 1012 - Wireless from Mac to PC

Hi all,
Here's my situation:
I have a desktop PC running Vista that my HP Laserjet 1012 is connected to - works fine. Wired connection to Linksys WRT54G.
I have a MBP 2.33GHZ C2D connected wirelessly to the WRT54G.
I would like to be able to print wirelessly from my MBP to my Laserjet 1012 while still keeping it connected to my PC. I did a few searches and got a bit lost I'm afraid. I tried sharing the printer (and I believe I successfully "logged into it" on the printer menu on my Mac) but I was unable to locate the printer.
Any ideas about the easiest way to do this? Thanks!

    Hi PaulEich,
    Welcome to the HP forums!!
I see from your post that you have a Photosmart B109n that you need to connect wirelessly to your Mac that is running 10.9. I will absolutely do my best to assist you with this!
I believe the reason the software is failing is because it's not intended to be used with the 10.9 operating system. At this time HP does not have full feature software released, you would have to install it via the Apple Updates. Which leads to the next issue, how to connect the printer to your wireless network. To do this, we will have to connect the Mac to the printer to get things setup properly
Please follow this post I did, that has worked for others, to get the printer connected to your wireless network. To restore the network defaults on your printer, please press the Setup option, then Network, then Restore network defaults, followed by Yes. Then to print off the Network Configuration page on your printer please follow the steps below:
On the control panel, touch the button ( ) next to Scan . The Wireless/Scan menu displays.
Touch the button next to Wireless Menu .
Touch the button next to Wireless Settings .
Touch the button next to Print Network Configuration Page .
Touch OK . The Network Configuration Page prints.
Let me know how this goes for you!!

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m prints wirelessly from Mac & Vaio, but not Dell...

We bought an HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m about a month ago. It will print from my (old) Mac Book Pro and from hubby's new Sony Vaio, via cable, via bluetooth, and via wireless. We want to add a Dell laptop, and have installed the latest printer software from the HP website.
When we go to "add a device" on the Dell, the process goes through "Checking network configuration"  and FINDS the printer (we have it set to automatic IP). We select the printer and click Next, the software says installing device and runs netowrk diagnostics without a problem.... and then we get an error at the installing device screen that says "Printer Setup has failed to complete, click Retry to Try again or Next to continue without connecting the printer."
Very  frustrated! Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help. I thought maybe it was a port issue, but we turned the firewall OFF, and no dice.

You could download and run this very handy utility.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

The wireless migrating from my old mac air to my new mac air stops after some time. It says that some ducuments cannot be copied.
What to do about it. And is that the reason for the stopping? Thanks in advance, AnneSophie

There's two things you should try first - even if they don't help, they won't hurt. Please start disk utility and repair the file system and then repair permissions on the old MBA.
Then, retry the migration. Does it still stop? Does it give you the name of the offending file? Please report back and we'll take it from there...

  • Unable to view ext HDD when connect via wireless from mac to mac

    Hi guys,
I have just recently started sharing files over wireless and until the other day I had no problems. That problem being - when I log on I cannot see any external HDD's attached to the computer Im connecting with. I have an iMac and a MacbookPro - both on Snow Leopard.
Has this happened to any of you? Its probably an easy fix, I just cant think of any settings I've changed to make this an issue...
    Any help would be appreciated!
PS. I have checked that the HDD's are "ticked" as Shared and I can access them fine from the computer they're connected to.

Thanks Eric.  I did all that previously but to no avail.  I tried going through it all again and restarting everything and i mean everything (even the microwave).  Maybe its just not meant to be!  I have a friend with the previous version of the OS and his works every time!
Thanks for your help so far mate!!!
    Cheers

  • HP Laserjet 1012 Windows 7 64-bit Driver

I cannot find a Windows 7 64-bit driver for my Laserjet 1012. Has anyone else had any luck?

Win 7 X64 works with my Trusty HP Laserjet 1012.
    From Start/Devices and Printers.
    Choose add a printer.
Had to use Windows update at the bottom of the install printer driver window because the HP Laserjet 1015 was not on the list of HP printers. But after the update there it was "HP Laserjet 1015".
I did the intstall and it is working on my Win7 x64 machine and Office 2010. By the way, I chose Generic IEEE 1284.4 as the printer port (See comment below)
If you look on the HP website, they show the most recent drivers only for Vista x64 but the drivers are for the HP Laserjet 1010, 1012, 1015. So 1015 drivers will work but I did the install through Windows add printer as stated earlier in this thread and seems Win7 offers support for this legacy printer.
    Comment:
Oddly the HP HP Laserjet 1012 also shows in unspecified devices on the Devices and printers page and did so before I installed the printer...I could not delete it but right clicking and Running Troubleshout gave me the choice to fix it saying "The driver for Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support is not installed. Install the latest driver for the device." I believe chosing Apply this fix would have made it work. I am hoping on reboot it dissapears from unspecified. I will repost later

  • Will my hp Laserjet 1012 printer work with my new Mac Mini (OS 10.7, Lion)?

I finally have to upgrade from my Mac Mini OS 10.4.11 to a Mac Mini OX 10.7, and wonder if I have to buy all new peripherals, too.
    Here's what I have:
HP Laserjet 1012 black and white printer
    Proview 17-inch display, PL913s
Epson Perfection 4490 flatbed scanner. (I scan a lot of manuscript pages and must have a scanner with an adjustable top)
    Wired keyboard with numeric keypad
    Wired mouse
Yes, I know they're old, but they work fine!
    Thank you!

    Hello Fiona6,
I use iMac (Snow Lep) and 2011 Mini (Lion) and from both systems my results are:
Wired keyboard & mouse - work ok, I don't like or use wireless types.
My LaserJet 1010 - works ok (Your 1012 should also work, same series of printer).
If your display works ok now, cannot see why it would not work. My mini works with various vga and DVI displays I have at various times attached to it.
Don't know about your scanner though, with my all in one printer/scanner I have had to use OS X Image Capture program to scan. Might be worth a look at Epson's site to check on any software updates.
    Roy.
Edit: Regarding display if you are getting a new mini you will need a new display adapter, minidisplayport to vga or dvi, assuming your display is one of these. This can be plugged into the Thunderbolt port on the new Macs.

  • HP laserjet P1100 wireless connection for mac

Hoping for a quick response.... I have a Mac with 10.8.5 and I have purchased an HP Laserjet P1100 wireless printer. I have tried installing the drivers to print wireless...ly with no success. I have taken time out to type this message because I have not been able to find someone who has had  the same issue in the internet. I need a walk thru because there are many steps where the issue may be occuring. Your written installation documentation conflicts with your User Guide PDF file. Cord or no cord during driver installation for wireless connection???  Was lost after #5 page 18 on the User Guide PDF file.
I figured it out. Your directions are misleading and not up to date. Cord is not an issue but needed for entire install process. At one point I'm in my system prefs then I'm on my web browser where I  found Bonjour which added the network to my printer choices so now I can print wirelessly... hopefully I don't have to do that again because I'm not sure of the steps I took. Fairly complex set up.

    Hey @matt4,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you have a Mac OS X 10.8.5 and a new HP Laserjet P1100 series printer and are looking for quick and easy wireless configuration steps. I just have one question for you:
    Do you have a P1100 or a P1102w?
    What's my Model Number?
I'm going to assume that you have a Laserjet P1102w. The steps for wireless configuration of a Laserjet P1102w are a bit confusing on Mac OS X 10.8 as you need to use the generic Apple Airprint driver because there is no 'Full Feature Software and Driver' installation for that Operating System. In saying that, I will try my best to give you easy steps to reference should you need to configure your printer again on the wireless network.
How to Connect the Printer to the Network:
Step 1: Install the Generic Mac Printer Driver:
    1. Turn your printer on
    2. Plug your USB cable from the printer directly into your Mac
    3. Click on the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences
    4. Click Print & Scan and make sure your printer is in the list of available devices.
    5. If your printer is not listed, click the plus () sign at the bottom left pane, click the name of your USB printer, and then click Add.
Step 2: Connect the Printer to the Wireless Network:
I've added the video above so you can view these step-by-step instructions.
Click the Apple icon (), and then click System Preferences.
    Click Print & Scan.
Click Open Print Queue, and then click Printer Setup.
Click the Utility tab, and then click Open Printer Utility.
    Click HTMLConfig.
Click the Networking tab, and then click Wireless from the list on the left.
Under Communication Mode, click Infrastructure, select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list, and then click the << button.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication, click WEP or WPA/WPA2. Your selection depends on the wireless security protocol your network uses.
Note: If your network does not have wireless security, leave the Security Mode set to Open System (No Authentication).
Type your WEP/WPA/WPA2 key in the appropriate field, and then click Apply.
In the confirmation box, click OK, and then close the HTML Config and Print Queue windows.
Step 3: Delete the USB connected printer, and then add the wireless connected printer:
In the Print & Scan window under Printers, click your printer name, and then click the Minus sign () to remove it.
NOTE: This removes the USB connection from the list so that the only entry for your printer is the wireless connection.
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and the computer.
Under Printers, click the Plus sign ().
Select your printer name with Bonjour as the Kind, and then click Add
Once your printer is configured for Bonjour, if you have other Mac OS X computers that you want to use with this network printer you do not have to run all these steps again. You simply make sure that the other Mac computers are all connected to the same network that you have set your printer up on and just open Print & Scan. Under Printers click the  () plus sign and select your  printer name with Bonjour as the Kind, and then click Add.
You can reference all of this information in: Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless Network for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
Let me know if these steps help clear up any confusion for you. Good luck!

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175nw - Problems printing from Mac laptop

    Hi
I have never managed to get my prnter to prnt wirelessley from my laptop (Mac Book Pro - (OS X Version 10.6.8). It will print when connected via the USB cable however when I try to print wirelessly, the printer dialogue indicates that the printer is offline. Both of our iphones will print wirelessly from the printer.
    Please help!

    Hi rachelwallace,
Not sure what happened there. Should have gotten a blue wireless light when connected to the printer's network.
You could restore the printer's defaults and try one more time.
    Restore the printer's network defaults.
    Touch the Setup button. (wrench)
    Select Network Setup Menu.
    Then select Restore Defaults.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is 0.0.0.0.
Try the previous steps for setting up the Adhoc to Infrastructure connection.
If you are still having issues and you have a Ethernet cable, connect it from the printer to the router.
Wait about a minute, print the configuration page to see if you get a IP address.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
    Then disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Then wait a minute to see if you get a wireless light on the printer, print the configuration page and check the IP address again. Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page. That way you will know that the printer is now networked.
Since the software is already installed, all you have to do now is add the printer on the Mac.
Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
    Click on Print and Scan.
    Click on the + sign.
Highlight the printer in the list.
    Click on the add button.
    Test the printer.
In case you don't have a Ethernet cable you may try the wireless direct setup.
On the printer, touch the setup button, (wrench) then select network setup menu, select wireless menu, select wireless direct and turn it on.
On the Mac, click on the Airport and select the printer from the list to connect to.
Then open Safari and type in the IP address for the wireless direct  (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar. (don't worry about the light on the printer)
This will load the embedded web server for the printer.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption.
    Apply settings.
Click on the Airport and connect back to your network name.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is valid. (192... or 10....)
Then add the printer on the Mac.
    Test the printer.
Please let me know the results.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
I have a new AirPort Extreme 802.11n and I´m not able to stablish wireless conextion from Macs with Leopard.
I´m following the manual´s steps to connect a Mac and it doesn´t work. Does it have to be with Leopard? Should I do something after updating to Leopard?
Does it have to be connected to the Internet to work? What could be happening? Please, help.
    Thanks.
    Regards.

I update my lap top to Leopard, and was having trouble getting a connection out from a router. I would connect to the wireless network, but never get beyond that. I never had a problem at home with the airport extreme.
It should work. Have you been connected to a different network?
Can you see the airport extreme name as an option?
