HP Laserjet 1022 not connect with AirPort Extreme

Previously I connected to my airport extreme with ethernet from my Apple Laserwriter Pro 630. I bought a HP Laserjet 1022 and it connects through the USB port. It does not print. I have installed the HP Laserjet through my Printer Set Up Utility with my MacOS X 10.4.9 system.
What am i doing wrong?

I've no personal experience with your particular printer but these pages may help you

  • Retina MacBook Pro is not connecting with Airport Extreme 5 GHz signal

I believe I have done my due diligence to find the answer to my question here and other places but I must be missing it. I have a Retina MacBook Pro that as far as I know should select the 5 GHz signal from my Airport Extreme (Generation 1 with 7.6.4 firmware) which is literally 3 ft. from my computer. When I click on the Airport icon in the menu bar, it is indicating a 2.4 GHz connection. I have looked at discussions which say I can give separate names to to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals. I can't seem to find that. I also read where you can reorder the order of signal preference. I can't seem to find that either. Interestingly, I have an Airport Express that is extending the network. When option clicking on its icon in airport utility, I can see both the 2.4 and 5 GHz information. I don't se that in the Airport Extreme. I am thinking about gettng the newest Airport Extreme but if I don't need to...
    Thanks for any help!

as far as I know should select the 5 GHz signal from my Airport Extreme (Generation 1 with 7.6.4 firmware) which is literally 3 ft. from my computer
A Generation 1 AirPort Extreme is not a simultaneous dual band wireless router. It can produce either a 2.4 GHz....or....a 5 GHz wireless network signal, but not both simultaneously.
If you want the Gen 1 Extreme to produce and deliver a 5 GHz wireless network, it can do so, but any 2.4 GHz devices that you have will not be able to connect to the 5 GHz signal.
A new simultaneous dual band AirPort Extreme will produce both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simultaneously. Wireless devices will automatically connect to the best signal quality based on their capabilities and location in relation to the AirPort Extreme.

Imac will not connect to Airport Extreme when configured WPA/WPA2
    Posted: Jul 5, 2007 8:22 PM Reply
I just got my Imac to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme but only by using WEP. I had my Windows XP SP2 machines connecting using WPA/WPA2 with no problem. The Imac will not connect using anything other than WEP, and 1 of the XP machines will not connect using WEP.(I have not tried the other XP machines) I had to set the Airport Extreme for an open network in order to let both computers access the shared hard drive and access the internet.
I don't know what the problem might be and would appreciate any suggestions.
MacBookPro, Imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Fujitsu tablet PC, 2 XP desktops

hehe...on the visuals. I figured it out already, and I have the old airport card. However, I did a chat with Apple support and while we were chatting I found a USB adapter with MAC drivers which will work. It is:
Hawking Technology HWUG1A Wireless-G USB Adapter with Removable Antenna for Macintosh
    Manufacturer Part# HWUG1A
That is the only adapter that actually does WPA/WPA2 that I can find that is for a Mac and not just an older USB that only does WEP. It surprises me that Apple does not have a USB product like this. Anyway, for $56 including shipping, I will have it by Monday or Tuesday. Pretty cool.
Thank you so much for your assistance. It is appreciated.

  • Lost wifi connection with Airport Extreme.

Lost wifi connection with Airport Extreme.   When I connect my modem directly to the computer I can access the internet, however as of this morning I am no longer able to access the internet via wifi on my airport extreme.  I have been using  airport extreme for 6 months or more and everything has been working fine.
When I diconnect my  airport extreme and reconnect it I get wifi for 1-2 minutes working fine, but then i lose internet connection.  According to airport Utility everything is setup and connected and working ok, but I still am not able to access any webpages over wifi.

I have the same issue, I'm getting droppeds from wireless constantly

  • I have my Time Machine on an external drive (not connected to Airport Extreme) and I have an external HD attached to airport extreme. Is it possible to have Time Machine backUp computer HD AND external HD connected to Airport Extreme. How?

I have my Time Machine on an external drive (not connected to Airport Extreme) and I have an external HD attached to airport extreme. Is it possible to have Time Machine backUp computer HD AND external HD connected to Airport Extreme. How?

Is it possible to have Time Machine backUp computer HD AND external HD connected to Airport Extreme.
    Sorry, but no.
Time Machine will backup your Mac, but not the hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme.
Time Machine will back up a hard drive only if it is attached directly to your Mac via USB or FireWire.

  • 1.5 TB Seagate drive will not work with Airport Extreme.

I have a 1.5 TB external drive connected to airport extreme.  I cannot get this drive to be recognizedby the computers connected to the Airport Extreme.  The drive show up as "-1.4 TB - Seagate FreeAgent 0138"  under disks in Airport Utility can plug it in directly to my Mac Air and a PC and the drive will work. When I plug the drive in directly to a PC or Mac Air,  it is recognized and can be used.
I can plug in a 250 GB external drive into the Airport extreme and they will work.
Also,  the 1.5 TB works when plugged locally to a PC or Mac using USB.
Anyone know how to get it to work with the Airport Extreme?

Assuming that the drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or MS-DOS FAT32, you almost always need to use a powered hub with a drive attached to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme...even if the drive has its own power supply.....because the USB port is under powered and will not supply enough current to most hard drives.

  • Devices not connecting through Airport extreme wired connection

    Hi
I just got an Airport extreme to use as an extention of my existing network, and to plug some devices in so that they can connect to the internet for updates (Sony Blu-ray player, dish network receiver, slingbox)...
my wireless is from a linksys/cisco wireless router (4-port) wrt310n, that is connected to my cable modem. The airport is set and has the green light showing. The blu-ray player and dishnetwork receiver are plugged into two of the ports. The blu-ray player says it can't connect to the internet. The dish network receiver says it is connected, giving ip address/submask, etc.
If I take my macbook pro and turn off wireless and plug into the airport it will not connect to the internet.
What have I not done to allow wired connection to the airport extreme to connect to the net?
    thanks
    David

Thanks for the clarification of your setup.
Unfortunately, the bottom line here is that this is not going to work.
The ethernet ports on the Extreme will only be active if you configure the AirPort Extreme to "extend a wireless network". But, it can only "extend" a wireless network from another Apple router. It's not compatible for this purpose with your Cisco router or any other manufacturer's router.
If you are unable to connect the AirPort Extreme to your router using an ethernet cable, you might want to take a look at a pair of ethernet powerline adapters to accomplish the same task by using the wiring in your home to transmit the ethernet signal.
I should clarify that if you connect the Cisco and AirPort Extreme using ethernet, you would not use the "extend" setting on the AirPort Extreme. This is only used if the device is connecting to another Apple router.

  • Apple TV often drops connection with AirPort Extreme and Express stations

    Here's my setup:
    - Mac Pro in basement office connected to AirPort Extreme (802.11n) station via Ethernet
    - AirPort Extreme station running WPA/WPA2 security and 802.11n (b/g compatible)
    - AirPort Express station across basement room connected to stereo expressly for AirTunes purposes
    - Apple TV and MacBook Pro on house ground floor, both connecting to the network via WiFi
(unless specified, the software and firmware in my devices is all extremely up to date. I write about Apple news for a living so I know when the updates land and install all of them almost immediately)
    Here's what's going wrong:
Since I have one of the first gen Apple TVs with a 40GB hard drive but a 100GB iTunes library, I use streaming almost 100% of the time. The Apple TV can usually connect to my iTunes library for streaming via WiFi, but if the AirPort Express (a b/g device, mind you) is active on the network, the Apple TV and even my MacBook Pro get booted off the network usually between 12-24 hours, if not 48. Sometimes WiFi seems to work itself out and I can get the MacBook Pro back online, sometimes it even needs a full restart, as Mac OS X will start giving me nothing but "there was an error trying to join this network" warnings. Just as frustrating though, the Apple TV getting booted off means I need go through the whole tedious process of connecting it to WiFi again (it doesn't remember the password for some stupid reason), and then manually surfing again through the Sources list just to get back to streaming my media.
What the heck is going on? Is it the kind of security I'm running? Should I try WEP or... none at all? I would try "downgrading" the Extreme station's network type to only b/g (excluding n entirely), but I don't see that option in the radio settings anymore; it's all just flavors 802.11n now. When I set up the AirPort Express to connect to the network just for AirTunes streaming to the stereo, I used the setup wizard that the AirPort Utility provides. Should I attach it a different way? Perhaps manually set it to "participate in a WDS network" or "extend a wireless network?"
Any thoughts or similar experiences are very, very appreciated. My wife and I love this setup, but its unreliability is really getting on my nerves. Thanks in advance.

Firstly, the easiest bit (although I don't believe you need to do this):
I would try "downgrading" the Extreme station's network type to only b/g (excluding n entirely), but I don't see that option in the radio settings anymore
You will get additional settings if you hold down the option key while browsing the radio settings drop down menu.
Moving on: Unfortunately a dropped connections seems to be a problem with umpteen causes and not only is it difficult to troubleshoot with someone in a forum it can also be made even more difficult because many problems are associated with network settings on a router that the person who is trying to help is unfamiliar with.
However you seem to be convinced your problems arise when your express is running which may narrow things down a little if correct, if not it may actually lead us away from the answer to your issue.
Is it the kind of security I'm running? Should I try WEP or... none at all?
I use WPA and have no problems (password = 8 Characters)
Should I attach it a different way? Perhaps manually set it to "participate in a WDS network" or "extend a wireless network?
I have my expresses set to participate in a WDS network, but that's because I use them for other things other than itunes, I would have thought 'join a network' would be fine.
You could check that all your devices are using independent IP addresses and all are using the same subnet. You could also check that no two devices have the same mac address, I've been told a million times this can't happen, but I've seen it. You may be wise to check these things before and after your devices have been 'kicked off the network", you may even want to write them down to see if any are changing.

  • Slow connection with Airport Extreme

Just upgraded my cable modem connection to the very high speed. 6 Mbits download, and 786 Kilobyts upload. 2 Macs connected via Airport Extreme to the cable modem. I am getting the upload speeds, but the download speeds are 2322.04, and 270.744, as an example. Troubleshooting it with the ISP (Adelphia) they say the problem is in the router. Because on a direct connection, bypassing the router I get download speeds of 5147.015, and 4129.464 as an example. They told me to update the router's software which I did to Version 5.7. That did not resolve the speed problems. I am still not doing any better on the speeds. Since the problem seems to be the Airport Extreme router, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

and it worked fine up until a few weeks ago
That would be the time that someone near you likely set up another wireless network that is interfering with your network. If it is any consolation, your network is likely interfering with his as well.
Unfortunately, the bottom line here is that other than experimenting, there is just not much that you can do. A good friend of mine recently moved into a new downtown condominium complex and found that his wireless was virtually unusable due to the number of other networks around him.
The only solution that worked for him was to take an older AirPort Extreme that was capable of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, but not both at once like the newer models, and set up the older AirPort Extreme for 5 GHz only.
ironically, the better antennas in the newer AirPorts provide better wireless coverage, but they are also more susceptible to picking up other signals that may interfere with your network. My opinion on that, based on my experience here with one of the new AirPort Extremes.
I went back to my old AirPort Extreme and while I have a bit less range, things work better.
This is the newest model, do you think the ac vs n connection would have anything to with it?
Most interference issues occur in the 2.4 GHz range, so it is very unlikely that an "ac" connection....which runs at 5 GHz....would be the cause of your issue, since there are very few 5 GHz networks....for now.

  • Powerbook will not startup with airport extreme card installed

I have a 2 year old powerbook using 10.3.9 an djust of late when my airport card is in, The computer just sends me to the open Firmware right after i turn it on.when i type mac-boot it comes up with a broken folder icon. however when i take my card out i dont have a problem. is there a wa i can ues my computer and the airport at the same time? what do you think i should do.

it is a 867 mhz g4 with 256 mb ddr ram. 40 gb hd and
a combo drive. i hope that is helpfull.
This PowerBook requires the original Airport card, you can not use the Airport Extreme card in that PowerBook, any attempt to do so could result in damage to both the card and the PowerBook.
Either change the AE card for an original Airport or use a third party 802.11g card in the cardbus slot.

  • Windows XP system not getting good connection with Airport Extreme

I just moved into a house that already has a Mac system with an apple wireless network. I have a Dell 3.2 GHz system and I just bought a D-Link wireless card 108G with Mimo technology which is supposed to increase the range of the card. The airport extreme router is in the very next room no more than 15 feet away from my PC and I am getting "very poor connection" according to XP. Is there a compatability issue with XP and the Airport router. I have tried everything including getting the latest drivers from the D-link website and I am still getting extremely bad connectivity. I didnt think wireless networking would be this problematic. Let me know if any of you have had issues with this.

3.2 GHz system and I just bought a D-Link wireless
card 108G with Mimo technology which is supposed to

This will only be true when using the D-Link Router which uses 108G Mimo technology, otherwise it will only work at 802.11g speeds.
    The airport extreme
router is in the very next room no more than 15 feet

What happens if you move either the Airport base station or the XP PC closer?
    Is there a
compatability issue with XP and the Airport router.
    No
The Airport router is a wifi certified 802.11g wireless router and any wifi certified 802.11b or 802.11g client will be able to connect regardless of who it is made by.
It should be noted that the D-Link device is not wifi certified!
I have tried everything including getting the latest

    getting extremely bad connectivity.
Can you get any connectivity, any network connection?

  • Pc will not work with Airport Extreme LAN connection

I have setup my Aiport Extreme Base Station and my Mac and phone work just fine with the setup. However, I connected a PC directly to one of the LAN ports on the back, and the PC doesn't see the network. Above the port the light is blinking green. Any thoughts?

Is the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) the only router in your current network configuration? That is, it is connected directly by Ethernet to your Broadband Internet modem? ... or to another router between the AEBS and the modem?
When connected by Ethernet to the AEBS, can the PC "see" the Mac or vice-versa?

  • Airport card does not work with Airport Extreme when security is turned on

I have an iMac running OSX 10.4.11 with an Airport card installed (firmware version 9.52).
I recently replaced my Netgear wireless router with an Apple Extreme Base station and now I am not able to connect my iMac to the wireless network when WEP security is turned on - I get an error from the Airport Setup Assistant when I attempt to connect to the wireless network.
It works fine if the wireless security on the Extreme Base station is turned off.
Please help and thanks in advance.
    Motasim

First, I highly recommend that you switch to either WPA or WPA2 as WEP is no longer considered secure. If you must use WEP, I suggest that you try the following:
o Re-create the Network Name (SSID) on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
o Try using 128-bit WEP, with a 26-Hex character key for the encryption type.

  • HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printing Problems with Airport Extreme & JetDirect

I have a HP Laserjet 3600n connected via ethernet cable to our Airport Extreme base station using the built-in JetDirect functionality of the printer. Prior to installing Snow Leopard we had no problems and every computer on the home network could see and print with full functionality on the printer.
After installing Snow Leopard, it took a while but I got the printer working again with the same setup. Then we had a power outage and the printer was no longer visible on the network or in the airport settings. Again it took a while but I once again got it to work. But now it seems like it keeps falling off the network and the printer itself either shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 or another random one. The IP address should be generated by DHCP by the airport.
I don't know if this is a problem with Snow Leopard, the airport extreme, or the printer. The way I got it to work the last couple times no longer fixes the problem. Someone please help.

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?

  • Windows XP PC not connecting to Airport Extreme

I am having trouble with my Windows PC recognizing my Airport Extreme. It was working great at one point because I could see the shared external HDD and my printer using Bonjour for Windows. Now it's like it doesn't exist. PC still connecting to the internet fine, but can't see the peripherals. I'm getting a 6753 error or something like that. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issues and it's more frustrating because it used to work, then my PC crashed and now that I have it back it doesn't work. I'm getting the error. I got it back up and running twice but it's spotty, it keeps disconnecting and not working.
