HP LaserJet 1200: Prints; creates EXTRA sheet with Offending Command: D

After every printing job is completed *an extra page is printed* with the following:
ERROR: undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND: D
STACK:
How can I stop this *unnecessary waste of paper* every time I print something?
Please help!

What does work is the following:
Set your printer to NOT use Appletalk (through your browser).
Delete your printer and install it again. If you don't see it in the list select IP printer and use the printer's IP address
Make sure you use a HP driver and not the Generic driver. I used a Gutenprint driver with success on a LaserJet 1200 with a JetDirect network adapter.

HP Laserjet 1200 printer occasionally won't collate

I'm supporting a machine (XP SP3) running Word 2007. Attached to this machine via parallel interface is a HP Laserjet 1200 printer.
The user says occasionally that it will not collate output, no matter what she tries. The problem just goes away on its own later. She has said that occurrences of this problem seem to be associated with power outtages.
Is this a driver issue, a Word 2007 issue, or something else? I could try refreshing and/or updating the driver, but I'd hate to introduce any new issues by doing this. It could be that there are some settings that are conflicting.
Has anybody else had this issue?

I think I found the problem. Leopard doesn't like my USB 2.0 PCI card. I had the same problem a while ago with an earlier version of OSX. It was resolved with an OS update. I wish I understood the value of having PCI slots on my G5, when even such a simple device as my USB card is rendered useless by a new operating system.

My Laserjet 1200 works under Lion, so it is possible. I don't recall loading any special drivers for it to work, and HP doesn't have any Lion-specific drivers available. In System Preferences, under Print and Scan, did you add the HP Laserjet 1200?

Description:
1. Installing to an existing network, that consistedof a desktop and two wireless laptops.
2. Both Laptops have Windows 7, 64 bit. Above named printer is successfully accessed from the laptops.

Problem
Unable to recreate this path with the Windows 8, 64 bit configuration.
a. When I attempt to download a current driver always wind up with a file entitled UPD-pcl6-x64-5.6.0.14430
     This appears to be a universal PCL 6 printer driver, Can successfully unzip the file and create a folder
b. During installation I can see the the desktop printer ICON (name:\\central\HPLaserj); so far, so good
c. Process fails to locate a driver and instructs to manually locate.
d. Browsing to the HP Universal Driver Folders fails because a driver cannot be found .
e. Attempting to manuall enter fails because you cannot input the above address (\\central\HPlaserj). Can only enter HPLaserj for the address, which obviously does not work.
f. When the installation did show a list of drivers, the only one I found was a universal PCL 6, which is what I thought I was trying to download originally.
This set up worked successfully with the Windows 7 64 bit. It appears I need help from a lot more expertise than I have to walk me through this set up.

HP Laserjet 1200 printing envelopes wrong

No answer over at HP's boards, so I'll try here.
No matter if I'm printing from Word or Appleworks, envelopes print incorrectly on my HP Laserjet 1200. I feed the envelope through the guides and it comes out too far down. I did a test print on a full sheet of paper and it prints according to the left margin settings. I've tried adjust the page settings to no avail. Am I missing something?

If you are selecting the correct size envelope in the Print setup dialogue, distinct from the A4 or normal sheet of paper size and selecting manual feed over automatic, if available, and this is not working, then the next best thing would be to set up a 'pro forma' example file of where the address must be located on the page for it to print out accurately if using the envelope as the paper. Save it as MyEvelopesBP.rtf or some such.
I use a similar proforma for locating the correct position of the addressee on letters as I use a windowed envelope, as the position is crucial for when folded for it to appear in the envelope's window.
So whilst this is not some specific solution for you, I intend some guidance for you to create a satisfactory work-around.

6980 always prints an extra sheet before job

I have had two HP6980 printers. the first one failed through a faulty printhead. It always used to print an extra page before printing a check (Versacheck). I replaced it with an identical model and guess what, same thing! A blank page spits out first before the check prints. I have contacted the software vendor (Versacheck) and they insist that their software could not do that. So I tested to an HP LaserJet and no extra page, only on the 6980.
All suggestions are welcome. I have tried firmware, latest drivers, USB, networked connection all to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this?

in your Form there is only One Page created?
just check if there exists any other page and in the Standard attributes of the page in "Next Page", the other page is set.
Ideally there should not be any page as the Next Page.

Printer Driver for HP Laserjet 1200 Printer

I got a Windows 7, 64 bit PC. I wanted to install HP laserjet 1200 Black and White printer to my PC, which was installed to a windows XP,32 bit OS. I got the Printer's Driver CD also with the product. But it is a 32 bit Application. I wanted to download the 64 bit Application and install the printer to my PC. But the links which are available in the HP official site does not work. can somebody tell me a solution for this or is there anyone who can send me a link to download the Printer Driver for windows 7 /64 bit OS..... I see you are wanting to install an HP Laserjet 1200 on your Windows 7 64bit PC. I also see that the downloadable drivers are not working for you. Have you tried installing the driver located in the Windows Add a Printer: Windows Update section? For information on how to perform this type of install please read the article linked below.

LaserJet 1200 printing streak

I have a LaserJet 1200 which suddenly started printing spots and streaks on a line about two inches from the left edge of every page. The artifacts appear even on a test page or a blank page. I changed toner cartridges, and the problem was not resolved. This is a printer that is no longer supported by HP, and it is very costly to take it to a repair shop, besides no one wants to work on it. It is a perfectly good and reliable printer otherwise. My thought is that it has a dirty roller, but I cannot determine how to get to the rollers. I went through the process to clean the pick-up roller, but it is not in the right position for the marks that appear on printouts. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Sounds like you need a new fuser. If you have changed the cartridge and the marks are still there. If you open the back dtop door of the printer and take a flashlight and look at the fuser roller you will probably see there is either a tear or toner marks on the roller in the fuser. That is what is causing the marks.
If the marks are repeating down the page take a ruler and measure the distance between them.Then.e-mail me back with the measurements and i can tell you for sure.

This happens at random, but quite often. We have been using this printer for years without any issues. This has been happening for about the last few weeks.

HP LaserJet 1200 printing problems

Ever since I upgraded to Tiger, my formerly trusty HP LaserJet 1200 takes up to 10-20 minutes to print a single PDF page (even a simple one), and 2) can't keep track of documents in the queue (if I send a second document while the first is printing, the first one cuts out without finishing).
I understand HP bundled the latest driver into Tiger, so no updated driver is available from HP. Although I installed the GimpPrint drivers, there appears to be no Gimp driver for the LaserJet 1200. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Update: I realised that my printer was attached to a USB hub. It's been that way since I bought it and has always used like that. Anyway, on the off-chance (and bearing in mind that I had actually shut down my computer for the first time in a year or so last week), I instead connected the printer directly to one of the USB ports of my iMac. It immediately appeared in the Print Utility list!
Sounds peculiar, but it seems that the problems was linked to a combination of a Tiger upgrade, the use of a USB hub, and the full shut down of the computer.

Printing/creating PDF problems with Mac OS 10.6.4 and word v.X

In my job at university I use Word 2003 (version 10) in my new iMac. Since I updated to MacOS 10.6.4 I have problems with the printing menu. That means that I can not print or convert to PDF or even generate a preview. When trying to print or obtain a preview, word freezes and I have to force quit. When trying to generate a pdf file it does, but the generated file is unreadable (it says is damaged) and word freezes again. I have played with the preferences, change user and it didn't help. I checked the Font Book and indeed they were many duplicated fonts. I sorted them out, but the problem persists. With very short files it works, but with longer ones word invariably crashes when trying to print or make a pdf. I took one long .doc file and I copied into my laptop (MacBook pro, 2008) that was running 10.6.3. I printed it and converted to pdf; no problems at all. Then, for the sake of knowledge, I updated the system to 10.4.6 and then I couldn't print or create a pdf with the very same file, so it seems that certainly the update is reponsible. So now I know cause but I can not print from any of my computers. To me convert to pdf is an important functionality so I would appreciate any help. I have some ideas: reinstall Office 2003? reinstall 10.6 from the disk (and not update)? use Time Machine to restore the system as it was before the update?
I didn't detect problems in Office 2004, or any other programs in my macs. Unfortunately, I need Office 2003 for compatibility with some other software. Thanks in advance!

I updated my MBP to 10.6.4 last night and today I was printing fine from Word 2008 (v12.2.5). I haven't used Office vX since Tiger so I cannot comment on its stability with the latest update. But I suggest that if you haven't done so already, try opening Disk Utility and running Repair Disk Permissions on the 10.6.4 partition. Once this has completed I also suggest that you reset the printing system, restart your Mac and then add your printer queues again.
*How to Reset the Printing System*
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
5. Restart your Mac

How can I print a contact sheet with a repeated row of images?

Hi there,
I am hoping that it is possible with my version of iPhoto to print a contact sheet on which I need to have a row of 8 pictures that then repeat down the entire page.
I understand how to set the slider for the number of "rows" across the page. But, how do I then get these 8 pictures to repeat on the same piece of paper?
I am an art teacher...need to do this for a project for my class!

A contact sheet can only put each photo once on the page. I can't think of a way to do it in iPhoto.
I was able to do what you describe in Photoshop Elements. If you have access to that program you can give it a try.
In Photoshop Elements, open all 8 photos.
Choose File->Contact Sheet II
Source Images Use: Current Open Documents
Thumbnails: Place across first, Columns: 8, Rows 1 (Use Auto Spacing)
Uncheck "Use Filename as Caption" unless you want the names.
Click OK.
You then need to move the row of photos to the top of the page with the move tool. Then while holding down the option and shift keys, use the move tool to drag copies repeatedly until you've filled the page.

My new Photosmart 5510 does not have an way to print the info sheet with it's email address.

Photosmart 5510D. When I attempt to print the info sheet the screen says "the printer is not connected to the internet" although it will print email prom my laptop. I am trying to identify the email address to set up eprint.

Press the eprint symbol and on the menu if should give you the option for printing Infosheet set up page.
