HP laserjet 1200 series not responding

I just got an hp laserjet 1200 series printer from a friend that used it on his pc. I can't seem to get my computer to recognize it. I have tried going to the hp page and downloading the driver and the software, which I thought I did, but when I open printer setup utility and look for new drivers, nothing appears. Any ideas?

Is your printer connected through a hub or directly to the computer?

    c. Process fails to locate a driver and instructs to manually locate.

    f. When the installation did show a list of drivers, the only one I found was a universal PCL 6, which is what I thought I was trying to download originally.
This set up worked successfully with the Windows 7 64 bit. It appears I need help from a lot more expertise than I have to walk me through this set up.

  • HP LaserJet 1200 Series- Spaces appearing in words of printed document

I have an HP LaserJet 1200 series printer.  All of a sudden blank spaces began appearing in the footnotes of a document.  For example, "supra" printed as "s upra" numerous times in a row, "in" printed as "i n", and "whether" printed as "whether r".  The spaces do not appear on the computer screen.  I just attached another printer and the spaces disappeared.  Is there a way to fix my HP LaserJet 1200 series printer?  Thanks for any help!

    Hello eaw,
The HP LaserJet 1200 is a commercial printer. For a better chance at finding a solution, I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support.

  • HP LaserJet 1200 series BW USB problem

I am unable to re install my HP BW LaserJet 1200 series printer. My system is WIN XP PRO, SP3.
The printer was working fine, then something happened and the printer is not listed in Device manager. The printer self check works OK,, but when I plug in the USB cable, there is no screen respons that a new USB device has been found.
Note , I have 2 flash drives attached to the USB ports that work OK.
I tried to re install the 1200 series driver, but the printer is not  listed in Device manager.
Any suggestions troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

I've often had this problem when I start a print but the 1200 is not connected, or for other reasons. I either:
    1. Turn the HP 1200 off then on; or
    2. Go to Print centre and delete the job.
One of these always fixes the problem.

  • HP LaserJet 1200 Series + Updates

I recently tried to update the driver of my printer (HP LaserJet 1200). After countless (manual) uninstalls and reinstalls, messing around in Terminal, i.a., I still cannot get Mac OS X 10.5 to recognize the new driver.
If anyone is knowledgeable in this subject, I would be greatly appreciative. — A2

My LaserJet 1200 works fine while connected over an Airport Express with OS 10.5.2. I did not have to download anything from the HP site. I just let the Bonjour configure it.

  • Laserjet 1200 will not stop running.

I have a LaserJet 1200 as a back up printer.  It gets used once or twice a month and therefore is in great condition.
This morning when I turned it on it started running and just won't stop!
    Any ideas why?
    Moly

The "Incoming Call" message is shown whenever we see a ring signal on the line, regardless of the fax receive mode.
If this message is showing up when no fax is being sent, then it means that there is noise on the phone line.  You can contact your phone company to discuss options in reducing the noise on your phone line.
If this message is showing up with no phone line plugged in, then the modem inside the printer is detecting noise.  It is possible that the internal fax parameters have become corrupt.  If that is the case, then you can perform a "Restore Defaults"  in order to reset them.  Note: doing this will erase all of your settings.  You can print out a configuration report before doing this so you can reset them.  A restore can be done at the control panel by pressing [Setup] on the main screen (the button with the wrench on it), then select "Service" and then "Restore Defaults."
This is based on my own experience with the product.

  • HT203548 seri not responding since update to 8.3 on iphone 6

since updating  to ios 8.3 on my iphone6, seri is not working. i am still able to use my mic icon on google etc. but not on my txt messages or when i  press the home button to access it, it dosen't seem to hear me!! HELP!

When you launch Siri, does she not speak out loud? And when you press the mic icon on the Apple keyboard, does the "ding" not sound to let you know when you can start/stop talking? (In my case, both were very, very quiet.) If so, here's what worked for me!
    1. Hold the home button to launch Siri.
    2. While the "What can I help you with?" screen is showing, turn the volume up!
Not sure what caused the volume to be turned all the way down, or if it will revert back, but so far, so good for me!

  • Saving Files through HP laserjet 1200 Series PCL

    Hi,
So I was recently at the state library utilizing one of their amazing online grant resources only accessible from one of their PC computers ( no idea what version of windows ).  Instead of printing out 300+ pages of information, I chose to Print > Save as a File > chose the location and all seemed fine.  I have about 70 documents saved this way ( as there was no other way to save this web infomation, make sense? ).  I emailed the files to myself, and tried to open them on a Windows XP laptop and also on a Mac ( shooting in the dark ).  I tried opening them in Word, notepad, wordpad, reader, everything and all came up gibberish wiht the expetion of the top 6 lines giving information about the printer.  When I look under the file information, they are listed as "Document" files.
I tried downloading the driver for the printer in order to open the files, no luck there either.  I opened the .exe file on the pc only to have several .DL_  / .HL_ files and no seeminly installed process.  As I do not actually own the printer, I don't know if this will even work.   Any ideas?? Or should I go back t othe Library and spend the hours printing??
    THANK YOU!
    kate

The file is formatted for the library printer only.
Can you save the data the you need in PDF format at the library?

  • HP Laserjet 1200 and HP PSC 1200 - Laserjet not printing

    Hello,
my laserjet 1200 is not printing, stating: "Generic class - waiting for the device".
The reason seems to be the installer of the HP PSC 1200, which put some files on my harddisk the laserjet doesn't like.
There is a process called "HP Communication..." viewable in the process viewer. Whenever I manually quit this process, the LaserJet prints.
But as soon as I restart the computer, the process (and the problem) reoccures. Is there a way I can "kill" this process permanently?
    mac mini G4 1.5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I have 3 users who's HP LaserJet 1200's have stopped working. This was after we got an HP Color LaserJet 2820.
I killed the HP Communications process like mentioned above and then voila the LaserJet 1200 started to print again.
It looks like you want to edit this file
    /Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist
    and remove this line
    <string>/Library/Printers/hp/HP Communications.app/HP Communications</string>
    Thanks for the help

  • Getting unknown error when printing with latest version(using HP Laserjet 1200). I can't print at all using this version. Able to print previously.

I ceased to be able to print when the latest version of FireFox was
downloaded. I can print from the same websites using I. E.
My printer is a HP Laserjet 1200 series. I only get the error(an unknown error occurred while printing) when trying to print through FireFox. I can print email fine and any other instance as long as I'm not going through FireFox.

    Hello Josh,
We are using a couple of EFI (Fiery) controllers with our Canon copiers and I have been told by Canon support that we need to be using the MacTel (Universal Binary) versions of drivers for Leopard. Luckily for us we have mostly new models of RIPs and the UB drivers exist for these models, but I know that they are not available for all models, which I believe includes your X3e.
To determine if you have a driver or RIP issue, you could save the file as either PS or PDF and then use the EFI utilities, such as Command Workstation, to import the file to the RIP (select Process and Hold) and then see if you can print your multiple copies that way. If that works then you know that the RIP is probably okay.
The next test would be to create a generic PS queue to the X3e and print using this queue. If this works then you can narrow your issue down to the driver.

  • LaserJet 1200 Econo Mode 300 dpi 600 dpi

I just got a new HP tower, and when I hooked up the Laserjet 1200 series printer, It's printing very dark. I went into the control panel, as I had done in the past, and it doesn't show the economode tab for the toner, it says 300 dpi, 600 dpi, I've tried both and they both seem the same, not like the old economode. Please, can you tell me what is the best way to save toner. I do a lot of printing, and LOVE the Laserjet, I actually have two of them,  PS, Just got the hp p6110y tower- It's awesome.
I thank you in advance for any assistance you might offer.

Hi , I see by your post that you are unable to set the Econo mode and Print Density on the printer. I would like to help you.
Did you download and install the latest HP LaserJet Pro Series Full Solution Software and Driver? Check Devices and Printers window and let me know how the printer name is listed. Can you send me a screen shot of the printer Properties please, so I can have a look at it. You could install a separate Universal driver for printing and you should have all the available options. Then the original driver can be used for scanning, just don't delete it from the Devices and Printers window. HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (32-bit). If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

  • Lab-PC-1200 not responding in Win2000

I was using a functioning system using a Lab-PC-1200 DAQ card and Win98 and LabView 5.1.1. I upgraded the computer to Win2000, and now I am having problems.
When I first run my application, everything seems fine (I read my analog inputs from the card correctly), but when I run a portion of the application that involves data collection in a While Loop, I get an "Error -10452 @ AI Single Scan. NI-DAQ LV: No inerrupt level is available for use."
After a while of trying to troubleshoot that problem unsuccessfully, I try to go into M&A Explorer and Test Resources and get "The device is not responding to the selected base address." I was not getting this error before.
So my first goal is to find out why the device is no longer re
sponding. I am running NI-DAQ 6.9.3. In the Win2000 device manager, it says everything is operating correctly. I have tried rebooting, reseating the card, deleting the device then rebooting to re-install the drivers, and nothing seems to work.
I have read through several other complaints of similar problems, but no solutions yet. Any other ideas out there?

    Hello,
I was able to find a document which is similar to your problem, although a different operating system. It sounds like for your case, you have an IRQ assigned, so that will differ from the information that I found. Regardless, I will post it for information that could assist you. I suggest checking the resources and seeing if there is anything else that is sharing your resources. If there are, either assign a different IRQ (if available) to your device, or disable the devices that are sharing. The other suggestion that I have for you is to try the device in a different computer to see if you can isolate the problem to either the board or the computer. If it is the board, then you can send the device in for a repair.
    Good luck.
    Jared A.
    ================================
The following trick was used on a Windows98 machine to assign an IRQ to a Lab-PC-1200 board (AT-interface) when no free IRQs were available. The lack of free IRQs caused an error -10452 during any buffered acquisition. In this case, we deliberately created a resource conflict with LPT1 and the DAQ Card, both using IRQ 7, to get the DAQ card working. The "trick" is to know that the user cannot simultaneously use LPT1 and the DAQ card and live with the conflict. Before trying this procedure, confirm that the DAQ card installed properly, and the only problem is the lack of an IRQ assignment to the card because none are available.
    1) In Win9x, enter start >> settings >> control panel >> system >> device manager >> select "computer" >> properties >> select "View Resources" and IRQ. Browse the list and determine if any free IRQ levels are available - also determine what resources which are currently used are not needed. (*note : do not mess with any entries that you do not understand). In this case, the user identified LPT1 as a used resource that he would not need. Press "cancel" to get back to the device manager tab.
    2) In the system control panel device manager, select the DAQ card lacking an IRQ resource under "Data Acquisition Devices". Select "properties" and go to the resources tab. Uncheck "Use Automatic Settings" and select a configuration that allows entry of an IRQ. Select IRQ and press "Change Setting", scroll through the list of IRQs until you select one used by a device that you know you can live without. In this case, we selected IRQ 7 for LPT1. (note - you can also try reserving IRQ resources under the "reserve resources" tab).
    3) Reboot the computer.
    4) Enter Device Manager again - observe that the two devices are now showing a conflict on the selected IRQ - this is normal and on-purpose.
    5) Enter Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Select the DAQ card and test resources. The device should now pass the test.
    Other Suggestion:
In the BIOS, some computers allow you to select PCI only, ISA only, or both PCI/ISA for various slots, and thus reserves resources for those slots. You may be able to enter the BIOS and select "Both PCI/ISA" to free resources for use with ISA cards if they are reserved for PCI cards.
