HP Laserjet 1300 Networking problem

Hello.
I have recently donw a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64bit to my computer.  There is a hp laserjet 1300 connected via USB to this computer.  There are two other computers that share this printer thru a netwrok.  After the move to Win 7 neither of the other computers can print to the 1300.  One of the computers is running Vista 32-bit the other is running Win XP.  All worked fine when my computer was running Vista 64 bit.  I do remember that it was a hassle to make it work when i set this up a few years ago, but dont remember how i solved it.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on my computer, and deleted the printer from the two remote computers( in retrospect that was probably a bad move, they most likely had the correct drivers on them already).  Any help is appreciated.

  • Hp laserjet p2055dn network problem

I am experiencing a problem getting my new hp laserjet p2055dn to work as a networked printer. I can print fine via usb. My girlfriend's laptop can print using printer sharing. But when I print via the router, the command arrives in the print queue, then just sits and sits and sits, sometimes eventually disappearing, but without leaving any error message.
I tried printing via the network (bonjour) using an old laptop running OS 10.5 and it printed with no problem.
I've installed the latest drivers from hp spec'd for 10.6.
It seems to me that this must be a problem with OS 10.6.4. Anyone else had this problem and found a way to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You have this printer plugged into the router via ethernet?

  • Laserjet 5000 Network problems (wrong driver??)

    Greetings!
I have posted this on a hp forum just two days ago, but either there are about a trillion new messages each day and the search doesn't work, or hp have multiple forums. Anyways, I'd be great if someone had a solution to my problem:
I have Windows 2008 Server and XP clients running. There's a Laserjet 5000 printer connected to the network via a hp print server. The driver is installed on the server. I have tried both PCL 5 and PCL 6 drivers for the 5000 series from the HP homepage, but I have one or more of the following problems depending which driver I use:
    - grayscales print black
    - the duplexer doesn't work
    - I can't print multiple copies of a document
The printer was fine about 6 months ago when I had it on the network but had installed the drivers locally.  Obviously I want to avoid that for maintenance reasons.
Well, has anyone experienced the same problem or a solution to it? It seems (from reading here about other printer models on a network) that sometimes picking another driver helps, but I don't know which and one built-in Laserjet driver from the Server 2008 distribution didn't do the job.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot,
    Boris

Right--but there is a setting in the "EFFECTS" area of the PCL 6 driver that resets itself automatically to "print on letter," regardless of paper size. Nothing I do on the PCL 6 driver (from Windows Update) will prevent that setting from resetting itself. Here's what I want to do for now using Windows 8 : 1.  Print at 1200 dpi out of PS or PCL 6--UPD does not seem to allow for1200 DPI out of Windows 8 as far as I can tell. Windows PCL 6 driver allows for 1200 DPI but has a host of other issues. 2. Figure out how to get rid of that automatic reset to "print on letter" I described above on the PCL 6 driver. 3. Figure out whether I will be wasting money on buying a duplexer for use with these Windows 8 drivers. I can't test, since nobody I know has a duplexer I can borrow. 4. Find a method to install the PCL 6 driver so Windows 8 quits telling me "it isn't installed so you won't have all the properties available." I'd like to have the driver install, and I'd like all properties to be available.

  • HP Laserjet 1300 installation problem

Has anyone sucessfully used an HP laserjet 1300n with OS9? If so, how did you install it so it worked correctly. I can't get the desktop printer utility to see it in the select USB printer dialog box. I had already installed the drivers from HP's website and the printer was on and plugged into a usb port. Do I need the original CD that came with the printer? It is on a iMac g3 with OS 9.2.2. Thanks

I don't know that printer but HP's installation notes indicate it's a PostScript machine so when it doesn't work first time Desktop Printer Utility is going a stage too far…
HP recommends using Apple's own LaserWriter 8 driver, which by itself should see the printer and use its basic functions.
The HP installer adds a model-specific PostScript Printer Definition but that should be necessary only for full funtionality of all the printer's options, not for basic use or testing…
HP doesn't state - and it might be crucial - which versions of LaserWriter 8 driver is needed… some printers mind the version of LaserWriter 8 and of auxilliary files including the Extension, PrintingLib. I guess you can get that info only from HP technical and then, as here, only from a techie with specific experience.
If LaserWriter 8 can't immediately see the printer, you should shut down then physically disconnect everything but the screen and (Apple) keyboard and mouse, then restart and re-install the printer precisely according to HP's instructions which even though they seem to be uneccessary, in this case state:
Before installing the HP Printing System, HP recommends that you disable all extensions that may cause a system conflict. Some system extensions are known to cause system conflicts when installing software. Traditionally, extensions have been disabled by restarting the Macintosh while holding down the Shift key. This disables all the system extensions on the computer and allows the user to install their software without conflict. However, for most users, disabling all extensions means disabling their CD-ROM drives; which makes a CD-ROM-based installation impossible. To resolve this issue:
    • For users of Mac OS 7.5 and newer, restart your computer while holding down the space bar. This will open the Extensions Manager. From the Extensions Manager you can disable all extensions except the extensions needed to use your CD-ROM. Then run the HP installation software from the CD-ROM.
If you plan to try that, please first make sure you have a working back-up of the current 9 System Folder, evn if it's only a drag-Copy…

  • HP LaserJet 1300 not connected for more than 1 day

Since Apple came out with the Yosemite printing system, I cannot print wirelessly for more than one day. I have reset my modem, changed the location of my network, unplugged and repowered Airport Extreme, started in Safe Mode, and more.
No matter what I do: I either get:  a printer name with a number in parenthese or a long Bonjour number when deleting and adding a printer on my laptop.
Whatever I do, it only works from about 24 to 36 hours. Then when i go to print it says Printer is Not Connected. I can delete and add again, usually it will find the printer, add it, print, and then a day or two later, the printer is not connected again.
But I have to keep redoing this both to my laptop and my wife's, and we have not had reliable printing since Yosemite cane out about October 18, 2014.
    Equipment
    iMac:
    Operating Sysem: 10.10.1
    Printer: HP LaserJet 1300
    Network: Comcast
    Router: Airport Extreme
The only thing I have not done I can think of is reset Airport Extreme.  I can do that, but don't know if I will then have additional problems.
This all started with the YIosemite update but at this point I don't know if it is an HP-related problem or a general Yosemite-related problem.
I appreciate any help I can get. Have wasted probably 40 hours over two-plus months trying to get this fixed. When Apple could not fix it back in October, the person referred me to HP. The person at HP Business did not know my printer was supported for Yosemite although his own web site said it was. So that was not much help And after resetting printers, deleting and adding printers, etc., I don't know what else to do.
    Thanks for listening.

Did it start not syncing after the iOS 4.2 update?

  • Laserjet 1300 driver for Win7 problem

Plugged my Laserjet 1300 into my new computer (System 7) via USB- and Windows couldn't find the right driver for it.
I canceled Windows trying to install driver automatically, and put original CD driver disk (Serial #Q1334-60107 ver 2.0) into drive-
but couldn't get Windows to recognize printer, even after re-boots.
Since I bought printer a while ago, I checked for updated drivers online, that would be 64 bit.
    I installed this one:
    upd-pcl5-x64-5.4.0.11744.exe
During driver install I plugged in printer & turned it on at what i thought was right time. I see this:
"HP Universal Printing PCL 5" as printer- but it won't print.
Tried Windows 'Uninstall' feature but it doesn't show the driver, to un-install it- OR where the driver's located.
** QUESTIONS: How do I Un-Install the driver? Do I use upd-pcl5-x64-5.4.0.11744.exe OR original disk driver #Q1334-60107 ver 2.0?
What's the procedure for installing this?- I can't find anything, despite an afternoon of Googling.
    Thanks.

Did you follow this guide to install the print? Installing LaserJet 1300 on Windows 7
You should not need to navigate to the driver you download. Actually stick it in the trash can for now When you selecet "Add a Printer" you need to select "Add a local printer." Ignore the writing to the right, that only applies if everything is working properly. If you follow the guide at the top it should get installed properly.
No need to feel foolish and no problem at all for helping. Thats what I am here for

  • Problem with Lion 10.7.3 with hp laserjet 3600n network  printer

    Hi
Problem with Lion 10.7.3 with hp laserjet 3600n network  printer
Guys i am having a mad day with this new OS and some network printer none of them work with new LION,The software for this printer is currently unavaliable. Please contact the printers manufacturer for the latest software, i need the drivers for this, please give a hand with this issue
    Best Regards

Exactly the same infuriating problem we and many others get with OS X from 10.6 on when Apple dropped Apple Talk.
Having spent days fighting to get drivers that will run our older laser printers like HP5000, 5100, 2100, 2200 and 4MV, we came up with a simple solution:
We use an iMac running 10.5.8 as a print server. All the 10.6 upwards Macs on the same network will see and add the printers immediately through the shared older (Apple Talk) iMac.
Cheapest and simplest option really .... it'sannoying that a brand new Mac can no longer see existing network printers without complex investigation and trying various downloads.
Answer is simple and cheap if you happen to own a 4 or 5 year old Mac with an OS lower than 10.6 which still has Apple Talk.

  • HP Laserjet 1300 began requiring "lpadmin" password to print. Formerly, no problem.

My HP Laserjet 1300 printer formerly printed with no problems.  Suddenly, it began requiring "lpadmin password" before continuing to print.  It does this regardless of the originating application (Word, Excel, Entourage, Adobe Acrobat).  I have tried unplugging the printer and restarting my computer (MacBook Pro circa 2009 running OS 10.5.8) without success.  I am wondering if the "lpadmin password" is a remnant from a prior user?  I originally bought this printer as a surplus from a computer consultant who was upgrading a business's printers.  Does anyone know how to circumvent/eliminate the "lpadmin password"?  Thanks, Ken

Are you networked or USB cabled into from the printer into the computer?
    What OS are you using?
If you are on windows 7 and networked in, then you need to check and make sure the that the IP address of the printer is listed as the same in the port settings.
If you are on windows 7 and are using a USB cable, then you have to load the printer through the IN-OS driver. See the link below...
Install the driver included in the Windows 7 operating system (OS)
If you are using some other OS or driver, please let me know.

  • HP LaserJet 1300 "paused"

My HP LaserJet 1300 suddenly stopped working over the AirPort network.  Every file that I start to print immediately makes the printer "paused".
I reset the printer several times ...  I downloaded and installed the MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8 ...  Finally, I realized that if I connect it directly to the USB port then it works.  (And I can share it, so it's available to my wife's MacBook Air)
I'd still prefer to use it over the netwirk.  Any idea what could be the problem?

Yes, that's the update that I got and installed (MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8).  It didn't solve the problem.

  • Hp laserjet 1300 prints 1 copy even when I select or ask it to print more

HP laserJet 1300; Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit; printer only prints 1 copy of page/document even when requesting more than 1.

    Hello smarber,
I have few work-arounds which should resolve the issue ..
    #1 >
Make sure the printer is ON.
Unplug the Power Cable from back of the Printer.
Unplug the USB cable from back of the Printer incase you have the printer connected with USB cable, else ignore this step.
    Wait for 30 seconds.
Plugin the Power cord to the Printer, and wait until gets back to home screen.
plug in the USB cable to back of the Printer incase you have the printer connected with USB cable, else ignore this step
    Now Try printing multiple pages.
    #2 >
Click START > Device and Printer > Add a Printer > Add a local printer >
( if the printer is connected with USB )
Select "Use Existing Port " then Virtual USB from drop down  , Click NEXT, in the Manufacturing list , select HP / Hewlett packard, and from the right pane , select Deskjet 6980 and complete the wizard
    OR
( if printer is on Network, )
Click START > Device and Printer > Add a Printer > Add a local printer > Select "Create a New Port" > type in the Printer's IP address Click NEXT, in the Manufacturing list , select HP / Hewlett packard, and from the right pane , select Deskjet 6980 and complete the wizard
Now try printing from lotus and hopefully it should work.

  • Photoshop CS3 printing garbage characters on HP LaserJet 1300

After installing CS3, Photoshop prints garbage characters on my HP LaserJet 1300.
Yes, I have tried printing as ASCII, ASCII85, Binary and JPEG - nothing helps (plus the settings won't stick even after holding down Alt and clicking the Remember button).
The only way to print right now is to choose Save as PDF in the print dialogue, open the PDF in Adobe Reader and print from there.
    Any ideas?

tzw - I responded about this on another forum. I talked to technical support at Adobe about this exact issue about 2 months ago - can't print photoshop CS3 on any of my three HP printers. ( I have a HP1200, an HP 2550 and a HP photosmart 7660) (CS2 works fine) They worked with me for about an hour - called me back and worked some more, and then decided to send it up to the programmers (or engineers or whatever) The programmers called me and worked with me for another hour - trying different set-ups etc., but the conclusion by them was that this was a huge problem in that there were a lot of HP printers out there - that they were going to give this their top priority - and that there would be a fix for this soon. (I have yet to see a fix.)

How can I print to a Laserjet 4050 networked on an XP machine from my  iPad?  Can I use the AIO app?  does not find the printer.  Thanks.

    @Mojo-Risin
If I understand your question, you would like to use the AiO remote app on your iPad with your Laserjet 4050, correct? If this is case, unfortunately, the AiO remote app is not supported with the Laserjet 4050 and the iPad.

  • HP LaserJet 1300 no longer prints from OS 10.7.5.

My HP LaserJet 1300 has suddenly stopped printing various files, most notably PDFs from Acrobat X. I had no problems previously. Did an OS update to 10.7.5 cause this problem?

similar problem with a brother cdn
upgrade from x4.11 to x5.8 and the printer drives seem to be "wacky"
ALSO; after downloading the "newest" drivers and installing & the system updater also "found new drivers" and installed them, the problem was actually worse.
And; in Print manager, created a new printer with driver, still no help, finally in desperation =
the FIX: to find the nearly dozen duplicate driver files (in both Library / printers & PPDs) and trashed them ALL, then re-installed the brother driver package and all is good again.
