HP LaserJet 1300 - No Finishing options for double-sided manual printing

I connected my HP Laserjet 1300 printer to my iMac and installed the drivers but I do not have the same capability I had with Windows XP. I do not have the Preferences options to select "Print On Both Sides (Manually). Actually, I do not have access to the Printer Preferences screens with the Tabs - Advanced, Paper/Quality, Finishing, Effects. Are these capabilities available on the Mac?

I plan to keep the iMac. I ordered the new software CD for my LaserJet printer. I just don't know all the option clicks that are there. I called Apple Care and found out about the small box with the triangle that pulls down more printer options.
I really would rather not use Boot Camp. I plan to migrate completely to the Mac world. I started migrating my few Publisher docs to Pages. I just found flip4mac. I just have to accept the steep learning curve for about 1 month or so.
I'm going to mark this resolved at this time.
Thank you,
Ed

  • How to show the layout option for double-sided printing on Acrobat Pro X on Mac?

Adobe Acrobat Pro X version 10.0.0 print dialog does not show the option to select Layout for two-sided (double-sided) printing. How to fix it?
System: Mac OS X 10.6.6 on Mactel
    Thanks.

    David,
Wow, it worked. Many thanks. This is what I did, following your directions to print PDF files as double-sided:
    01-Command P & Click "Printer button".
    02-Click Yes.
03-Click the Popup Arrow to display contents.
04-Select Two-sided "Long-Edge binding" or whatever needed and Click Print.
    05-Click OK to Print.
What fooled me is that from Word (.doc) files the screen on step 3 and 4 show directly selecting a popup menu on the initial print window, whereas when printing PDF files it is required to go through steps 1-2-3 above.
Again, many thanks. You made my day!!!

    Hello antuan333,
At this point ePrint does not support duplexing (double-sided) printing. ePrint is continually receiving updated features on a daily basis and hopefully this option will be available in the future but not presently.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

Since I starting using my MacMini (2011 version) I have not been able to print double sided from my HP Photosmart plus - there is no option for this in the Printer dialog box as there was in the similar dialog box on my PC. How do I set up this option?

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • I have a new macbook pro and an HP Deskjet D2500 series printer and i can not figure out how to do double sided (duplex) printing! any help?

Does anyone know how to set up print so that it comes out double sided with the macbook pro??

How you enable double-sided printing can depend on the applications from whick you wish to print. Example: if I print to my HP PhotoSmart  from Safari, I get this print dialog box:
(Edit: OOPS! Note that I forgot to switch printers when i took the scene-shots, so ignore the "Brother" reference. It's should look the same for your HP.
Note the selection labled "Safari" near the bottom. If I change that form "safari to "Layout: I get this:
Note the option for two-sided printing appears for your selection. If I print from Word, the box is different:
The "Copies & Pages" option can be changed to "Layout" when you click it, again allowing the selection of two-sided printing.
If you tell us what applciaiton is vexing you, we may be able to give better-focused information.

  • Double sided pdf printing

Is there a way to set up a pdf for double sided printing? I know how to do double sided printing directly out of InDesign, but I want to save my document in such a way so that I can have the printing done at an outside printing company. Is there a way to do this? Or must I save each page as a PDF and then try to align it? (Print one side, turn it over and then print the other PDF on the other side.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. But you are asking the wrong question.
The decision to print duplex or simplex is a decision made at the time of printing the PDF, by the program and printer driver printing the PDF (and limited by the capabilities of the output device). Instruct your outside printing company to print double-sided, and they will do so, just as they will use the paper size and weight you request.
I do not believe there is a way to embed within a PDF a directive indicating that it ought to be printed double-sided, no. Certainly InDesign has no such way. Not do you need it. Communicate the information out-of-band.

  • Acrobat print driver for double-sided option?

i pretty much feel like i am brain dead or something since moving back to mac OS when it comes to printing - and that is saying something considering i moved from windows.
in any event, despite the fact i have had a ton of help in trying to figure this out i still cannot figure out how to get an option to print double-sided on my HP officejet pro. every time i get in one of these to print to a second paper tray or to create black and white only prints or two to a page or whatever i feel like i am in some hall of mirrors created by mc escher. i /have/ gone in and set presets on the mac pro for 2 to a page through 16 to a page for black and white and for color prints and i have gone ahead and done the same for my laptop as well (sigh) - however something as simple as printing to a second tray for 11 x 17 or 12 x 18 paper on the epson (i move the trays /manually/ from to the first slot to get this to work) or printing 2 sided out of acrobat (i still can't figure this out) is mind bogglignglingling.
can anyone help me figure this out? i go rooting around around in here and then just flat out give up.
am i printing out of a mac user interface and i need to download an acrobat driver or something? someone helped me out on this earlier and i am trying to get it all finalized as best i can...
    THANKS

    hi eric. big thanks.
i am attaching the screenshot showing the two-sided HP option (in this case it is buried under "Driver").
i don't know but for the record - i am in 2014 and every email i get says "think of the environment before you print" and HP and Mac OS and Adobe can't get it together enough to let me /easily/ print to two sided paper???? am i missing something or is burying this setting in Settings > Select Your Printer > Driver a total wormhole and - well, why after checking this am i still at a loss to print to two sided paper out of Acrobat? i have an 104 page pdf document sitting here i can't print.
i mean, i think eric was kind enough to point this setting out to me before (and lord knows mother earth dearly hopes that the checkmark is the default setting...) but why with these three powerhouses am i still at a loss to get to two-sided out of acrobat?
at least Preview buries other things and leaves this one option staring me in the face each time i print...
    THANKS

  • How do I setup magazine to view pages consecutively, but print for double sided 11x17?

I have a quarterly newsletter I've begun.  I set it up as (8) 11x17 pages with (2) 8-1/2" x 11" page views per 11x17 page, so that when they print double sided, there are consecutive. The problem is that when I am trying to navigate from page to page, they are not consecutive on the screen. Is there a way to set up the pages at 8-1/2" x 11" consecutively in InDesign, but send to printer for two sided 11x17 and have the pages come out in the right place?
Not sure that I am describing properly. For instance viewing an 11x17 page (Page 1 as far as InDesign is concerned), the right half is Page 1, and the left half is page 16; or (page 2 in InDesign) is page 15 on the left side, and page 2 on the right side.  This all prints perfectly, but navigating it during layout is extremely cumbersome.  Also, printing for general public PDF viewing is impossible.
    Thanks, Rick

LOL - That for sure I knew. I just didn't know what to do about it.  I checked Acrobat...but I never really noticed that "booklet" option before, and right now the magazine isn't setup right, so I can't tell if it's working.  will it know that page 1 and page 16 go on the same side of one 11x17 sheet, and pages 2 and 15 go on the other side of that same page when printing two-sided?

  • Creating PDFs for Double Sided Printing Problem

I'm not having trouble printing, but with generating a pdf that will print double sided correctly. Currently I have a pdf with many invoices on it. Some are an odd number of pages long and some even. The problem I have is if I don't insert a blank page to the invoices with an odd number of pages (to make it even), then the next invoice's 1st page will be on the back of the previous invoice.
    Example:
    Invoice #1 has 3 pages
    Invoice #2 has 4 pages
    Invoice #3 has 2 pages
    After double-siding
    Invoice #1
    Page 1
Front: Page 1 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 2 from Invoice 1
    Page 2
Front: Page 3 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 1 from Invoice 2 <------ This is my issue

    Hi Brian
this is addressed in 5.6.2, you can force and odd or even page to end the document, if you need the extra blank page to finish on a odd page say XMLP will insert it for you. Check the docs, http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_11/current/acrobat/115xdoug.zip

  • No longer receive dialog box for double sided printing

Usually when printing double sided documents the odd numbered pages print and then I get a dialog box telling me to flip over the pages and click continue and then the even numbered pages print. That box no longer appears after the odd numbered pages print and I'm unable to print the even numbered pages.  1.  How do I get the dialog box back (perhaps someone clicked the box stating "do not show this message again"?  2. If I don't get the dialog box back, how do I print the even number pages without the dialog box?  Currently, the power light blinks and no other documents can print.  I have F380 printer and I have Windows Vista.

  • Double-Sided Booklet Printing

I am trying to print a booklet, my issue is that I can't just print some of the pages. I need to print on both sides, yet my printer doesn't print double sided.
So... how do I print just pages 1 and 20. Then load the printed page back in the printer. Then print just pages 2 and 19????
    Thanks!

If this is a laser printer which doesn't have a duplexing facility, take care - do a test first. The heat generated during printing can melt the toner on the reverse side of the paper causing it to coat the rollers in the machine and then deposit specks of toner for ever more. In extreme cases the toner on the reverse of the page can melt and stick the paper to the rollers, causing paper jams and possible physical damage.

  • Acrobat Reader 8 Will Not Default to Double Sided / Duplex Printing In Linux

Acrobat Reader for Linux 8.1.2 seems to always default to single sided printing regardless of the system default. In order to save trees, toner, the environment and money, it would be nice if it would default to the system's default.
    > The default printing command is something like:
    > lpr -P printer_name -o InputSlot=Middle -o OutputBin=PrinterDefault -o Resolution=300x300dpi -o PageSize=Letter -o Duplex=None
    > Requiring the user to select double sided printing every time they print. This changes the command to:
    > lpr ... Duplex=DuplexNoTumble
    > It would be nice if the default setting was:
    > lpr ... Duplex=PrinterDefault
    > So that users could still choose but platform administrators could set the default in /etc/cups/lpoptions Unfortunately, most people will simply not print double-sided unless its the default.

  • Firefox 3.6.9 on mac running 10.4.11 does not have option for custom headers when printing.

I am trying to print web content for a college project, it requires custom headers and footers. Firefox 3.6.9 does not have a custom option in the header/footer lists. In the help pages for Firefox is shows this option. Is this missing only on the Mac version? Thanks for any info.

    See if this works.
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit enter.
    Filter = '''print.print''' <br />
There are 6 prefs for headers / footers. <br />
    '''print.print_header...''' center, left, & right <br />
    and <br/>
    '''print.print_footer...''' center, left, & right <br />
You can add what you want in the '''''Value''''' column and then Restart Firefox to effect the change. <br />

  • I used to be able to get Colorsync options for my HP 3550n printer

    Hi,
I learned on this group how to print in black and white. Now I can't. Colorsync shows me only:
color conversion - "standard (checkmark)" or "in printer" (grayed)
    quartz filter - none (checkmark/grayed)
Don't know what the problem is. But it's always something isn't it.

I have never downloaded any app for pictures.  I don't use instagram or any of that stuff.  I was just trying to upload a pic to facebook one day and it gave me the option when I hit that little magic wand it has now.  It allowed me to shade back grounds and stuff before I uploaded it.  Not sure if it was something to do with facebook, but thought it was something on the actual phone.
