HP Laserjet 1320 stopped queue

I recently purchased an HP Laserjet 1320 to connect via USB to my iMac (10.4.3). The computer recognizes the printer and automatically installs it into the printer setup utility and everything. It looks as though it is ready to print, but when I send anything to print, the queue stops and will not print. Even when I try to start the print job again, it will stop every time.
I have tried reseting the printer setup utility, restarted with the install CD and run Disk Utility to repair and verify the hard drive...everything I know (which I know is limited). Does anyone have any more suggestions?
p.s. I read that the fix in the 10.4.3 upgrade offered expanded support for the 1320, but I still cannot print anything.
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2.1GHz G5

Try these other generic steps one at a time.
Delete and re-ADD the printer(s) in Printer Setup.
Repair permissions (Disk Utility).
Delete Print Prefs - search for (File>Find) files that start with com.apple.print and delete them all and reboot.
Reset Printing System (new in Tiger) - In Printer Setup, click this menu item found just above Quit Printer Setup.
If there is a downloadable Combination Updater from Apple, use it to re-Update OS X.
Try Printer Setup Repair from www.fixamac.net.
Use a Disk Utility like Disk Warrior to repair the HD.
(Final desperation step - reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer.)

  • HP LaserJet 1320 requires user intervention to print after Leopard

Ever since upgrading to Leopard, almost every single time I send a print job to my HP LaserJet 1320 (over the network, it actually connected to a PowerMac G5 in my office), it triggers an error warning (orange flashing light) on the printer. Pressing the main green print button lets the job print, but this is really annoying.
I checked and Apple recently posted a note about the HP LaserJet 1200 having a very similar problem except that an error page was printed after each job. The workaround they suggest for this doesn't work with the LaserJet 1320 problem, however.
A quick Google reveals at least one other Leopard using HP LaserJet 1320 owner is seeing a similar issue. And actually, as I composed this post, I found some 1320 owners in another Apple Discussion post about HP printer issues with Leopard. They suggested using the generic PostScript driver, but then I really like to have the ability to duplex.
Nothing in the /private/var/log/cups/error_log file of note as far as I can tell.
Any ideas? Any other people out there experiencing this problem who might have a solution (other than switching to a generic postscript driver)?

Ok, I think I've figured a way to make the laserjet 1320 stop requiring "user intervention" (e.g. pressing the green button for every printjob).
    Try the following:
Open "System Preferences" -> Choose "Print & Fax" -> Choose the Laserjet 1320 printer -> Press button "Options and Supplies..." -> Select Driver "tab" -> In the drop-down-menu "Fit to page" choose "Nearest Size and Scale" instead of "Prompt User".
The chosen driver should be "HP Laserjet 1320 series", because the generic postscript printerdriver dosen't have the duplex option amongst other shortcomings.
I find it odd that the lowest memory-option is 16-31mb of ram. The default configuration of 16mb is not IN that range, but maybe that is a little too nitty-gritty.

  • HP LaserJet 1320 no print on page

HP LaserJet 1320 stopped printing on page.  Paper comes out of printer but No ink on page.  No ink on test page.
    New toner cartridge---

There are only a few pieces that could be defective when troubleshooting print defects with laser printers.  To know for sure you should perform what is known as a half way/half page test: http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/halfway-test Run the test, find out where the defect starts and replace the component responsible for it.  If you cannot find replacement parts then its time to trash that printer and move on.

  • HP LaserJet P1505n stops printing and blocks network interface

I have been using my P1505n for over two years without any problem. But it suddenly stopped printing. The scenario is as follows:
    1. The P1505n is connected to a wired home network with reserved IP address in the DHCP server.
    2. The P1505n is used from Ubuntu 10.4, 11.4 , Windows XP and Windows 7 without any previous problems.
    3. The last partial successful print job stopped in the middle of a page leaving the rest blank: no paper jam.
    4. I have reset the printer several times: turn off + press Cancel & Go + turn on while holding the two buttons down.
    5. The first reset was successful: the toner level going from 40 to 100%. The next ones may have been successfull too.
    6. After each reset and also after each power-on, I can ping and access the embedded web server.
    7. Whenever I send a print job, the print queue on the computer (all OS behave identically) says "printing" and stops. I can cancel/remove the jobs from Ubuntu.
    8. After the printer receives the print job, it silently blocks the network interface (no ping nor web) and doesn't print anything. No movementsm no LED blinking either: just nothing happens.
What is the reason for this problem? And how do I solve it?

    Hi firedude007,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Laserjet P1102w stops printing files from your Mac but not on Windows, and I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following information:
The version number of the Mac Operating System. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
In the meantime, I would try the following:
Reset the printing system. Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
Verify and repair disk permissions. Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions.
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • Hp laserjet 1320 not working with new mac

i've recently bought a new apple computer, the mac runs with os x 10.9.2.
now i'm trying to get my old hp laserjet 1320 to work together with my new computer - but neither the mac is cooperating nor the old laserjet. i've also installed a new hp officejet pro 8600 - this printer/scanner/fax works well, but i also wanted to use my old laserjet until i run out of printing cartrigdes )
    thanks for the help!!!

    Hello nyc213,
It sounds like you are unable to use your LaserJet printer with your computer. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
OS X Mavericks: Solve printing problems
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14142
    Check the printer
Go to the printer and check the following:
It’s turned on and is displaying normal status lights.
It has paper, and the paper isn’t jammed.
It has enough ink or toner.
    Its cables are properly connected.
If your printer is attached to your computer’s USB port, open System Information, then click USB. If the printer’s name appears in the hardware list but the printer doesn’t work, review the printer’s documentation for further troubleshooting information.
    Check your device’s USB connection
If the printer is on the network, open Printers & Scanners preferences, then add the printer again to create a new printer queue. For instructions, see:
    Set up a printer
Use the best software for your printer
Make sure you have the correct version of your printer’s software (also called its printer driver).
If you’re using a printer that another user is sharing, make sure you’re both using the same version of the printer software. To find out which version you’re using, select the printer in Printers & Scanners preferences, click Options & Supplies, then click General. Note the driver version.
If you’re using a network printer or a printer attached to your Mac, make sure you have the latest version of the software for the printer. If you still have problems, try different printer software for your printer.Change or update printer software
If you still can’t print, reset the printing system.
    Reset the printing system
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • HP LaserJet 1320 through wireless print server

I'm trying to hook up an HP LaserJet 1320 through an old DP-311wireless print server. I can access the servier through IE when go to the servers IP address through Parallels, but if I go to the same address through Safari on the Mac side, I get a blank page (although I do get a popup asking for UID and passwd). I have been able to print to this printer - on this AirBook - using the same D-Link rint server - but I removed and reinstalled the printer to try to get the duplexer to work. Now I can't get the printer to work at all . . . bummer.
    Any thoughts?

Update - I have gotten the printer to work under Parallels once I assigned it to an LPR queue. Still no progress on the Mac side

  • HP Laserjet 1320

I should start by saying that I'm quite frustrated, so please forgive that.
I have tried everything. I've been a Mac user since the OS9 days and while I don't claim to be an expert, I know a thing or two about a thing or two. *I have never had such a rough time with an OS upgrade and a printer!*
I have tried removing the printer, re-adding the printer, resetting the printing system, unplugging, plugging back in, restarting, various drivers (including Gutenprint), deleting preference files, installing 10.5 drivers, reinstalling drivers from the SL dvd and the list goes on. I've followed every bit of thread advice that I've read here and nothing works.
I have been stuck in "pause purgatory" with my HP Laserjet 1320 since installing snow leopard.
I am not using IP printing. It is connected directly to the iMac via USB. I've used this printer with this Mac forever.
I keep reading here and there that "there's a driver for the 1320 in Snow Leopard. Use it or try Gutenprint". Yes, I agree that there's a driver and a Gutenprint driver in Snow Leopard but for all my trying, *they don't work*. I'm still stuck in pause purgatory.
Can anybody, puhleeeeeeze, offer a suggestion of how they did it, if they've been able to get this printer working? I am really tired of not being able to print at home and having to take everything into work to print.
Thank you for putting up with this rant. I hope someone can help.
    Thanks!

After installing snow leopard, my networked laserjet 1320 wouldn't work (unresolvable pause), and the printer control panel insisted I needed a new driver, even after I followed its advice and ran software update to download all the hp drivers.
The problem may have been appletalk, but in any case the solution was to delete the printer queue, let bonjour find the printer, and create a new queue.

  • Wireless printing from 10.4.6. to HP Laserjet 1320

I am having trouble getting my Powerbook G4 to print wirelessly to an HP Laserjet 1320. The problem -- that the print moniter reverts to "Jobs Stopped" and will not proceed even when started -- is one I've encountered before with other printers, and has been solved by using a printer driver other than the one recommended by the manufacturer. HP only provides one driver for OSX. Has anyone found the solution for this?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Try using the HPIJS drivers.
Or use the process outlined here:
HP Printers (and others) not on compatibility list and Airport Extreme Printing

    Using the HPIJS drivers.

  • LaserJet 1320, blinking sign interrupts printing

    Hello,
When printing on LaserJet 1320, the process in the PC goes well and the document is sent to the printer. But the printer doesn't do the job - the sign "!" starts blinking as well as the green button is lit. I checked the manual and it says:
    1. Manual feed - no, I don't feed manually
    2. Out of paper for the specified tray - there is enough paper
    3. General continuable error - what kind of error is that?
    4. Memory configuration error - tried to add an extra 64 MB RAM, no effect
    5. Personality/Job related error - tried to print different things, all with the same effect.
So, I tried many things and I came up with one thing - if I push the green button the "!"-sign stops blinking and the printer suddenly starts printing and there are no further problems. But, this is not an option to go press the button each and every time you print, so how do I fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

You can check to see if your printer device driver is up to date if you are running a Windows operating system through hp.com. At the home page, click on "Support and drivers", then "See support and troubleshooting" and enter your product name (laserjet 1320). Click Go. Choose the model of laserjet 1320 you have from the product list. On the right side of the resulting screen above a pink box advertising the support chat option, you'll see a link to "Automatically see if your driver needs updating". Click on it and follow the steps.
I had this problem and discovered I had to change some options in the printer driver. If you have Windows, get to the Printers and Faxes through your Start button. Right click on the laserjet 1320 and choose properties. Click on printing preferences. My software didn't like having the paper type be automatic, I had to change it to plain. You may have similar problems with the settings for paper source or paper size if they are on automatic.
Some software allows you to adjust the printer properties from the application itself. Use the file, print option and see if there is a Printer Properties button in the dialog box that come up. If so, that may be an easier way to access these settings.

  • HP LaserJet 1320 Duplex Printing Not working with Windows 7

    Hi
I've just bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have an HP LaserJet 1320 printer (Prod no. Q5927A, SN CNGW53RLRY).
I cannot find driver that works the same way as the previous driver HP LaserJet PCL5. If I use this driver and can still get duplex printing but it will only print one copy at a time.
If I upgrade to HP Universal Printing PLC (or PLC v5) I can print multiple copies but not duplex printing. I have searched high and low through the HP site but to no avail.
Any help and advice will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I've seen this same issue with my printers (other HP printers) whereby the default setting to support the Duplexing hardware was set to 'off'.
A quick method to check this is look at what the setting is for Duplex hardware in the Device Settings tab, and if it's not set, correct it.
      Printer Properties:
From the 'Start' orb -> [Devices & Printers] -> right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printer Properties' -> click on 'Device Settings' tab.
You should see a dialog similar to the mine (attached): look for the 'Duplex unit (for 2-sided printing)' and see if it's set to "Not Installed":
--> in either case, click on 'Not installed' and from the dropdown box, select 'Installed'... Click 'OK' to accept the changes and close the dialog.
    Printing Preferences:
again, right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printing Preferences' -> click on 'Advanced' tab.
-->Check to see if there is a 'Duplex Hardware' or '2-sided printing' option in here: mine doesn't show one but thougth I'd mention it nonetheless.
Click on the 'Finishing' tab and select 'Print on both sides'...or simply test print a multi-page document and set those preferences on-the-fly.
Let me know if this helps...

  • Windows 7 system cannot network print to LaserJet 1320

Recently our office got a new Windows 7, 64-bit laptop, and for the past three days I have been unable to get it to print though the network to our HP LaserJet 1320. I can connet it via the USB cable and print directly to the printer, however, I recive an "unalbe to connect" error with all attempts to connect to the printer through the network .
The LaserJet 1320 is conncected to an XP system and shared over the network. Three other XP systems and two Linux systems can connect and print to it just fine.  Also the Windows 7 laptop has been able to print to a shared HP DeskJet 6980 and an ancient Lexmark 4039 though the network.
It does not appear to be a network issue. I've tried varous versions of the HP Universal Printing driver, but so far not has been able to connect though the network. Is there  one in particualr I should try? Does the Universal printing driver not support network printing?
Thanks! Any help with this probelm will be greatly appreciated.

Never mind solved my issue using the specific vista x64 (on windows7) driver rather then using the universal print driver...
Might fix your issue with network shared printer.

  • HP Laserjet 1320 will not print ?selected pages

I have the HP Laserjet 1320 and when in a Word document and I want to print a selected page (i.e. page 2 of 4 only), under Pages on the Print Menu, I enter 2 or 2-2 and select print and it will not print!  I can scroll down to place the pointer on page and tell it to print "current page" and it will print - why will it not print when I enter the page number I want to print.
    Thanks

My printer would not print multiple copies.  It would only print one page at a time.
