Hp laserjet 200. Random blank pages. Jibberish. USB not recognized.

I am posting this for a friend.
The printer is one year old. They ended up buying a new computer and the same problems happen on Windows Vista AND Windows 8.1.
Please advise!
We were away for a week. It printed strange gibberish each day we were gone. Sometimes I can turn it off and on and make it print a desired document, but other times I just have to give up. I tried to take the ipad off again to see if that would help, but I probably didn’t do that correctly. Today it is just printing blank pages. There is an error message on the computer screen asking for a certain kind of paper. That makes no sense. It printed with this paper before. Usually there is an error message on the computer screen that it does not recognize the last USB inserted. That makes no sense either. I haven’t inserted anything into a USB port. Now I just had to turn the printer off to keep it from printing blank pages.

I see that you are getting blank and gibberish print when trying to print by a USB connection. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Printing a Configuration Report. Did it print properly?
I have provided this document with some steps to try, to see if it will resolve the issue.
Resolving Strange, Garbled or Illogical Text, Incomplete Printouts, or Missing Text or Graphics.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor if you are still having issues. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools
If the printer is also networked, download and install the Microsoft hotfix in Step 3 of the document.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print, any error messages)

    In the Notes app of my iPad (8.1.3) using AirPrint it sometimes prints nothing but blank pages. Some Notes files will print, however, but others will not. Also, If I copy text from a Notes file that prints only blank paper to a file that was able ti print text (as it is supposed to) the file is suddenly infected by whatever, stops printing text and prints only blank pages. How can I reliably print out all of my Notes files?

    I came here for the same problem that the one described here (Preview won't display some pdf documents). But, as it was mentionned, Acrobat is able to show them. Tried the anti-aliased option, no luck there either. However, I noticed that the document not handled by Preview are reproductions, copies, pictures of documents. For example, I work with scholar articles. The problematic documents are not pdf saved directly, let's say, from Distiller or Word. They seem to be scanned documents, and each page of the pdf is actually a big picture. Could it be that Preview is not strong enough to handled this kind of doc?
    By the way, a Preview discussion folder would be nice...

    yeah tried all that. the only thing that i havent tried is to delete itunes completely and restart. its the same with the ipad. i havent done a master reset. i just think it has to be something rather simple as it acknowledges that i have plugged in the ipad as it makes the noise it just come up usb not recognized. it shows up as an unknown device that doestn have  any drivers
    its driving me round the bend at the minute

    My iPhone 5s is not appearing in iTunes 12.
    Windows 8.1 says "USB Not Recognized".
    iPhone not appearing in iTunes 12 on iMac and MacBook Pro as well
    iPhone can charge with no problem.
    Try different cables and same problem nothing changed.
    I had tried;
    Reset and Restart iPhone.
    Cleaned the charging input.
    Tried in 3 different computers.
    I can't perform the method like uninstall/reinstall the USB driver on my Windows because in my Windows the USB showed unrecognized instead of "Apple USB/iPhone USB" on Device Manager.

    Hi Since ios 7 almost everything can be dropped over your WiFi When you charge your phone if Automatically backs up to iCloud If you have problems backup to iCloud over your WiFi Then Restore iPhone back to Factory Settings Use same Apple ID Then you will get all your apps & data back.     New Shuffle- 1st time it says USB not recognized- Apple sends me info to uninstall and re-install I-Tunes- I-Phone is still seen- try Shuffle- first message says USB port recognized- next one says something about hardware not being installed properly. Try again and am back to the original problem- USB not recognized. Of course Apple Support is now closed- any ideas?

    DId you uninstall iTunes and all it's components? Or just the iTunes program?  Apple Mobile Device would be the main cause more than likely. So it is important whether you uninstalled all the programs or just iTunes. If so what I would try next is putting the device into recovery mode and seeing if it detects it like that.

    You need to provide more information about your network. What frequency does it use (2.4ghz or 5.0ghz), which wireless protocol (a, b, g, b/g compatibility, n), and what security are you using (WEP, WPA2, etc.)?
    Please also provide more information about your iPod Touch. Which model is it, and which version of the iOS are you running on it?

    I really need help!! Okay so this is the case I connected my iPod touch to the laptop Sony Vaio, and this is the first time it ever happened it says USB not recognized, doesnt open itunes or anything, yes I searched and searched did everything nothing worked please if you know how to fix this..     ok, Im sorry to update this thread again but I fixed one issue and made another...
    So on another thread I read that sometimes the issue is fixed from shutting down the computer and actually unplugging it from the wall. I did that and at restart it worked! It prompted me to restore my settings and it went through and works fine now. HOWEVER... my apps are gone! I did a backup on itunes today that it loaded, but the apps are not there.... what happened?? Please tell me they are not lost.....

    I plug my 2gen iPod Touch into my comptuer and almost immediatly it says USB Not Recognized. But, when I plug it in with the newest cords it shows up just fine. Is my cord out of date? Is the one with the button release. I don't see how a cord would affect it showing up on the computer.. But it does. HELP!
