HP LaserJet 2420 windows 7 install

Hi,
I have been attempting to setup a HP LaserJet 2420 that is connected to a Windows Server 2003 domain controller on a couple new Windows 7 64bit machines.
This printer connects to XP and Vista machines without issue, but it will not install a Windows 7 driver. When I find the printer in the directory (add a network printer) I cannot install a driver through windows updates, as well I download all the available drivers from the HP website (when I navigate to the download folder it says no compatible driver found). I have tried the 32/64bit drivers.
I opened a service ticket with hp, 4683371, on friday but received no reply. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

  • HP LaserJet 2420 'Print on both sides (manually)' is missing from the current Windows 7 PCL6

    Dear Support,
I have a HP LaserJet 2420 printer connected to my home network and I would like to use it from my desktop PC (connected with cable to the network) and from my notebook (connected with wifi to the network). I use Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (EN) on both of them and I installed the current Win7 PCL6 (v5.7.0) driver downloaded from the official HP site.
I would like to print on both sides, but the 'print on both sides (manually)' option is missing from the 'Finishing' tab of the Printing preferences option.
If I turn to 'Installed' the 'Duplex Unit (for 2-Sided Printing)' under the 'Device Settings' tab of the Printer properties it doesn't work because this printer doesn't support the automatic print on both sides.
I don't want it work automatic only manual, but it is still missing. I have never experience it with much simple printer.
Please help to solve the problem! Thank you!
And what is the difference between the PCL5 and PCL6 and PostScript drivers?

  • Can't install driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit

    Hi,
I can not install the driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I download the driver installation program from the HP website. When I run it, it says reinstalling the driver files, then copying files to the hard drive and then it crashes. I also tried using the driver CD that came with the printer to no avail.
The printer works fine on my other laptop with Vista on it. Help!

    Hi peshi77,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to install your HP Laserjet P1006 to your computer running Windows 8.1, but everytime you attempt to extract the files it crashes. After some research I see there were no updated drivers made available for the Windows 8.1 OS, you must install the Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver, to get the basic printing functions. Please click on the link below to download and install:
HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver
Once downloaded, please follow the on screen instructions. I hope this helps!

  • How to create HP LaserJet 2420 printer queue on Solaris 10

    Hi Solaris Gurus,
I am having difficulty creating a printer queue for HP LaserJet 2420 on Solaris 10 (11/9) Sparc (Sun Fire T5220) server. A popular method used is with hppi (HP Jet Direct) tool but it does not have the exact printer driver and alternative printer drivers (e.g. HP LaserJet 4 / 4M, HP LaserJet 2000 series) resulted in only part of the text occupying the wrong side of an A5 page.
An alternative approach that has worked in the past for simple default paper tray 2 (single paper tray), with tray 1 reserved for manual feed. This method involves creating a working printer queue on a Windows workstation (XP) / server (2000) with the correct driver and having configured to support Unix printing to receive LPR request from Unix systems in general. A remote printer queue would then be defined on Solaris 10 system which points to the Windows system. However, the printing jobs kept going to tray 1 (top manual feed) even though the Windows printer queue was configured to go to tray 3 (bottom tray).
The earlier method would be simplest but needs the right driver (PDD) but I don’t know where to find it. The latter approach is also not working despite having got the right driver on Windows. A test page on the target Windows printer queue would print to tray 3 (bottom tray) of the printer correctly.
Printmgr does not work well with HP printers from experience. It is good for serial and local printers.
Your advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Crystal

Hi Giogio, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I am sorry to be the bearer of this news, but do the age of the printer, it is not supported by Mac OS X 10.9. I am including a list below of the supported printers from Apple:
OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download.

  • Laserjet p1102w fails to install

At first this printer(HP Laserjet 1102W)  was great, installed and everything was fine. Then we moved and Centurylink changed my router.  First my IPAD wouldn't hook up but we fixed that by changing the router "channel' to 11.  Well now, I can't even get the printer to install on my computer (I know the router doesn't have anything to do with the computer intallation failure).
So, anyway, running Windows 7, 64 bit, have started and restarted, booted and rebooted computer and printer, reset network endpoints on printer, uninstalled the previous versions of the printer.  used the CD, not used the CD, gone to the website and got the software directly off the web- nope- still won't install.  Goes through the whole process and then I get a pop up that says Printer intallation failed.  No printer was installed.
Usually I just have issues with getting it connected wireless but TODAY I can't even get it installed!  This has never been an issue before.  I have also even turned my Firewall off in case it was blocking something (like it was before during the wireless installation) but Nope, not the answer!
I really need to get some stuff printed.  Even if I have to use the midevil USB cord!
    Any help is appreciated!

I see you are having an installation issue with your Laserjet P1102w.  I am guessing that this printer was installed previously on this computer, but now you need to reinstall to connect the printer back to your new network.  Is this correct?
If so, have you gone through the process of uninstalling the previously installed software already?  If so, then I would advise checking the Print Server Properties of the PC to ensure the driver has been removed for the printer.  This can hang up many printer installations.
Click on the Start menu of the Windows 7 PC
Select the Devices and Printers folder
Click on any of the available printers in the list
Click on the option for Print Server Properties at the top of the window
    Select the Drivers tab
Delete any drivers remaining for the P1102w in the list
Once the printer has been completely removed and software uninstalled, then I would download the latest drivers from the HP website and re-install.  Click the link below to access the downloads page for Windows 7 and the P1102w.

  • 'Laserjet 1022n Windows Update' causing printing problems: print jobs don't stop printing

    Hello,
a few days ago, I installed the Laserjet 1022n Windows Update on my Windows 7 64 bits and since then, I can't print a page normally: the page doesn't stop printing. I am using a network port with TCP/IP.
I made several trials to solve this problem:
    - uninstall the printer driver and installing it again (I tried the last version on the HP site and an older one that worked perfectly before)
    - update the firmware of the printer to the last version on the HP site.
When I pause the printer and start the print job, you see it arriving in the list. Resuming the printer, the print starts on the printer but you see that the job stays in the list, flashing again and again. The printer keeps printing the same page.
I don't know what I can do to solve this problem. There is no mean of uninstalling the HP Laserjet 1022n software update because it doesn't appear in the list of installed programs (well on the list of the done updates by the way op windows updates).
I have the same problem printing on the same printer from another Windows  7 PC (with the same windows update done)
But I have no problem printing with my laptop on another network printers.
Is there someone having the same problem and how to solve it ?
    Thanks for answering
    This question was solved.

I found the solution on this site : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/59912-29-1022n-printer-stop-printing
You just have to uncheck the chekbox "Enable two-way communication" on the "Ports" tab of the printer properties and it works normally again !!!!

  • Windows Vista install disk for my Mac?

I have just installed Windows vista onto my Mac but when using boot camp it only gives me the option of creating a Windows 7 install disk.  Does anybody know where I can get a Windows Vista install disk?  Thanks

No doubt if you Google for it you will find vendors. Check with amazon.com, too.

  • Customise your Windows XP install CD

If you currently only own a legit Windows XP Home or Pro CD, which is either original or SP1a integrated, when it comes to doing a new install or a repair install, having to reinstall SP2 again can be a bit of a pain, not to mention another lengthy procedure
So why not make yourself an updated XP SP2 disc, so at least if you have to reinstall Windows, you can reinstall to the latest version without any further messing.
The "slipstreaming" procedure, also allows you to integrate additional drivers and hotfixes, so they are all present when you do a new install.
Here are some links that allow you to customise and create your own XP install CD. Note that you will still need a valid Product Key to install any version of Windows XP, and you will also require a genuine Windows XP install CD.

I personally have built a DVD with the MSFN how to guide. The actual XP build was very easy when using the Microsot tool "setupmgr.exe" (MS Setup Manager for XP). The product nLite worked well also.
But before I go on I should tell everyone that wants to try this to go get a copy of VMware Workstation http://www.vmware.com. It will cost you a good amout but it will save so much time and energy. Before you install it though yo best have a pc strong enough for the task. I found a Pentium 4 w/HT and a Pentium D to wrk just fine when you also tack on 3 or more GB's of RAM.
I should warn all that the next parts may burn a hole in your head.
My WinXP Pro SP2 was also complimented with a complete unattended install of every program I wanted installed on my PC. Usng Batch coding and RunOnceX commands was very hard and very time consuming. It took me almost 4 months to learn how to use those and it never really paid off. I then found a program called "Windows-Post Installer". You cn find it at http://www.wpiw.net/. That program made it so much easier and I could tell myself what programs do, before I install them, via descriptions. When you look at the site you will see what I mean.
OK, let's get real down and dirty. "SWITCHES", my own personal demons. I found it so frustrating that a switch would work on one version of software and one version of WPI but not work on mine. I had to learn what one meant, set it up, and then test. I then found some switches to not work correctly in a vurtual enviroment. Lord save me from myself, PLEASE .
All of this is explained in much detail at the MSFN how-to http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/1/. They have updated alot of there information since I pull my hair out. So read on peoples for the only one that can help you is reading this right now, that does not in anyway shape or form mean ME, lol!

  • How do I use existing sync key after Windows clean install?

    Hi,
I had setup Firefox Sync on my old Windows 7 install and I have the Sync Key given during the set up. I had to clean install (format C drive) my Windows.
Is there any way I can use the old Sync Key to get all my bookmarks and stuff back?

    The problem has resolved itself...
...despite spending several pointless hours trying to delete the existing BootCamp drivers without success, I finally restarted Windows yet again - and this time I was easily able to delete the existing drivers.
I then restarted my Mac, installed the latest drivers without issue and it all works just fine.
    Windows, eh?!

  • Windows xp install -- black screen with no cursor

I've seen a number of posts about Boot Camp installation problems involving a black screen with a blinking cursor, but my problem is simply with a black screen. On my MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo (graphics card: ATY,RadeonX1600) I'm able to partition the HD, but then after I'm prompted in Boot Camp to insert the Windows XP install disk, the computer attempts to restart and install, but after a flash of grey screen, the screen goes totally black, and eventually the optical drive powers down (after whirring for a while) -- no cursor, no nothing. I've tried a number of suggestions I've seen elsewhere: my firmware seems up-to-date (at least that's what I'm told when I try to run both EFI and SMC firmware updates); the Windows XP is a brand-new, single-disk, SP2 install disk; I've tried holding down the option key upon reboot and selecting windows start-up. I've used Parallels with no problem under 10.4.X, but recently upgraded to 10.5.2, and thought I'd try a Boot Camp installation for better access to peripherals. Any suggestions?

Hello to all and it wanted to request aid to them on this subject, days ago I acquired a Imac 24"2.4GHZ Aluminum (generation previous to the last ones sent for a month),then it is that I have years with my macbook pro and always I have used bootcamp since was beta in Tiger, so installation experience I believe that I have a little.
The problem is that in it is new machine I have partition my disc with the assistant without no problem, but when it is going to install Windows XP or Vista (the 2 I have them original) and boot the machine, it remains in gray screen and no nothing happens, reason why boot with option pressed and they leave systems both to me, followed this I select Windows and it is hoisted in the screen that nor the leader of the mouse moves.
I have made the procedure as 10 times and proven with different sizes from partition (with its respective disc repair with the DVD of Leopard and the disc assistant) and nothing.
Finally uses WinClone in my macbook pro and clone my partition of Vista Windows, recovers it in the Imac without no problem and it appears to me in startup but the same, I select Windows and there it remains. Fiirmware of the updated machine this and I am in OSX 10.5.3. I have proven everything until changes to the memories and nothing. Them request if somebody has had east problem and to most erudite of the forum I request aid to them to see if they can give me.

  • I am having a problem with Windows Fusion installed on a MacBook.

I am having a problem with Windows Fusion installed on a MacBook OS 10.  When attempting to use a Browser, (either IE, or Chrome), under Windows Fusion, I cannot browse to ANY page except Gmail.com.
I checked all security settings, and found no problem. Neither browser will allow me to do ANYTHING other than go to Gmail.com!!!
I am not sure if I have some virus on my Windows side, because Google and Safari both work perfectly on my Apple side, just not when running Windows Fusion.
Is there some setting I am missing, or do you think I have malware/virus issues?? My Internet connection is DEFINITELY working fine - I can send, receive, open, and close all my email on Gmail only, and can navigate freely on Gmail, but cannot get to any other site even hyperlinked to Gmail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

If you've already tried my previous suggestions, it may be that something has tampered with the DNS settings in your Windows VM, which might bypass the settings your Mac uses. Assuming you're using Windows 8, these instructions explain how to check and change the DNS settings. There's also a link in those instructions listing a variety of suggested DNS settings. If you do try changing the settings, record what the settings currently are in case you want to return to them.

  • How do I get past the drivers not found problem during Windows 7 install?

I have a brand new (March 2012) MBP running Mac OS 10.7.3 (Lion) with a SuperDrive.  I'm trying to use Boot Disk Assistant to install Windows 7 with a valid Windows 7 DVD burned from an .iso.  I've partitioned the 750 GB HDD with 500 GB for Mac OS and 250 GB for Windows.  The system reboots and starts to install Windows 7.  Then it pops up an error:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.  If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
Of course, I can't eject the Windows setup DVD because the eject button doesn't work so I can insert the Windows Support Software that I downloaded from Apple.  So, I copied the Windows Support Software to a USB drive.
Once I get to this point, I can browse to the USB drive and I get the following file tree:
    Drivers

The only directory that the installer recognizes as having valid drivers is the Intel > Chipset > WIN7.  When I select all of the drivers listed, the installer acts like it's installing something but then it stops saying that new devices were not found.  I can't get past this point.  The Windows 7 installer will not continue.  If I select any of the other directories, I get the message "No device drivers were found.  Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."
Any thoughts?  Admittedly, this is the my first experience dealing with Mac OS and I'm completely out of my league.  However, this is a Windows installation issue and I'm getting hung up on device drivers.  Usually in the PC world, I can easily go to the manufacturer's website and just download the drivers I need directly.

valid Windows 7 DVD burned from an .iso.
Usually burned ISO to DVD only works when burn speed is set to slowest.
Otherwise there are a number of problems with the install failing to do proper install, sometimes not even booting to start the install. Trouble is from using Apple Disk Utility. Burned in Windows, the ISO will be fine. Using Disk Utility at slowest has become "try reburn again at reduced speed."
You can use mouse on startup to eject DVDs but what you want is your drivers later after Windows is installed, and have them on USB flash or something.
you don't need any drivers except in a few cases (MacBook Air that lacks DVD and uses USB-DVDs)

  • How can i remove a hybrid mbr from my system drive so that Efi booted windows will install.

    Hi,
i have just clean installed OSX lion on a freshly wiped drive in my macbook pro, using a bootable lion installer usb i used disk utility to partition my drive into a mac and a windows partition under the GPT/GUID partition scheme, i then proceeded to install lion onto the mac partition, and completed the set up, All Good...
so i plug in my Windows 8 EFI Boot USB stick (Notice, EFI boot here, NOT BIOS EMULATION BOOT), shutdown and power on the mac and proceed to the boot picker by holding option, So far so good, the usb key is recognised and the system boots into the Windows Setup in EFI mode, Enter product key, accept terms and so on, Now i select my Windows partition and windows Says That it cant install to Partition 4 (EFI Partiton, OSX Lion, Lion recovery, Windows), It says that it can only install to a GPT / GUID based disk as expected...
Why is there a protective MBR on my drive when i didnt add one, and i have not even touched bootcamp assistant...
How can i remove this Protective MBR from my drive so that my disk is PURE GPT so windows can install?
hours of googling has turned up nothing...

Alexander, I would like to apologize for the TERRIBLE answers you have been given so far.  I too had this question, and so here is what my thoughts are, as maybe they might provide insight in leading you towards the answer.
I am a *nix user in general, and thus own a mac and a thinkpad.  In fact I just got my thinkpad not too long ago.  As such, I transfered my faster hard drive to my faster computer, which made logcal sense to me.  Ergo, I moved my Mac drive to my lenovo.  On this drive I have a hybrid mbr which is no longer needed.  So my thoughts are this:
From what I gather, the UEFI standard indicates that there is to be a protective MBR on all GPT systems.  This is so that when you use programs that are not GPT aware, they will see a presumably "full" drive and not think that they have the right to destroy your existing data in what it thinks is free space.  For instance, fdisk or other MBR only partitioning systems.  Thus, if your system has only a MBR with a single EE partition, it would be my guess that it was in fact not put there by installing Windows, but rather for the protection of your system.
If you are in my situation, where you do indeed have a hybrid MBR with written out partitions, it would be my guess that the only way to rid yourself of it is to do it manually.  The way I would recommend, is using gdisk (gpt fdisk).  It is command line only, but the syntax is pretty easy:
    $ sudo gdisk /dev/disk0
Assuming you are using your mac partition and your primary hdd is disk0.  That will put you into an interactive session of gdisk.  Enter "?" for command options.  What you need is the "recovery and transformation" section which is the "r" I think.  From there I would say you probably want to create a new hybrid mbr (you will be using this to delete it).  When it asks you for the partitions you would like to include, just hit enter.  It should then ask you if you would like to create a protective entry for the remainder of the empty space.  This is what you want so tell it to do that.  After you are done, "w" will write and exit.  You may want to first use the "p" to print and ensure that you have what you want.  You can proabably check your work by using fdisk as so:
    $ sudo fdisk -l /dev/disk0
I hope this helps you, and if you find that there is a better way, I hope you might enlighten this thread.
    Cheers!
PS The command examples, the $ is to indicate it is a bash/shell command as a non-root user, do not include it in the command.

Vista requires AA8.1 at a minimum. I think that a few have gotten AA7 to work, but it is not supported by Adobe on VISTA. I know that is not good news, but it may be that you will be unsuccessful. At the very least, expect to have to print to file and open distiller to complete the conversion. I think that AcroTray is one of the major problems with the use on VISTA.
Hopefully someone might stop by that has successfully gotten over the registration problem you are having, and possibly gotten AA7 to work in some sense on VISTA, but do not be surprised if there are no takers. Good luck.

In every tutorial to setup bootcamp has had that option. Is my bootcamp messed up or did i do something wron? Specs: 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 6GB 1066Mhz OS X 10.8.2 Thanks

Your Mac Pro must be newer than a Mac Pro 5,1, and must have a minimum ROM version in order to use the USB installer you are looking for.  If your machine is older, or doesn't have the correct ROM versions, then you need to use the "old fashioned" disc install method....
