  • FCP not working with Leopard

Every time I try and launch FCP5 Studio 2 it gives me the "This application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly." Anyone have a solution to this? Anyone else experienced this?
Do I just have to wait for an update?

Having same problem with FCP v 6.0.1 and tried the FCP Rescue 6..... Also does not work with Leopard.
I am just about to try this proceedure.
    Delete the User Preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Final Cut Pro back to its original settings. This will not impact your project files, but you should verify your Scratch Disk location setting after doing this. To reset your Final Cut Pro user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences—the tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
Remove the “com.apple.finalcutpro.plist” file from the Preferences folder.
Remove the “Final Cut Pro User Data” folder from the Preferences folder.
    Will report shortly.

  • Airport does not communicate with my wireless printer

    Hello all,
I can really use some help here.  We have a Canon wireless printer and an Airport Extreme.  The printer was working wirelessly until recently and I called Canon for tech support.  I was on the phone with Canon for an hour.  We have trouble-shot the printer every which way.  They are now telling me that the airport is not communicating with my wireless printer.  Is there someone that can help me check this?

Earlier G5s had an external T antenna I believe, besides the antenna wire inside...

  • Osascript for remote login does not work with Leopard

We are testing Leopard on one computer in our labs. The only problem so far is that the osascript that we use to remote login to the computers stopped working (although it works fine on the Tiger machines):
    osascript <<EndOfMyScript
    tell application "System Events"
    keystroke "public"
    keystroke tab
    delay 0.5
    keystroke return
    keystroke tab
    delay 0.5
    keystroke return
    keystroke return
    end tell
    EndOfMyScript
This is a public account with no user password. I've read the discussion below, but have not been able to tweak the command so that it works with Leopard. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I'm having a similar problem - the script below works with my G5 iMacs running 10.4.9 but not the Intel iMacs running 10.4.8. It almost works - the username and password appear in the right boxes, so I run around the room pressing the Return key.
    # This script when used with ASR Send UNIX command will login workstations at the LoginWindow.
    # The script assumes that the cursor is focused in the Name field.
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to keystroke "username"'; \

  • Photoshop 7 DOES NOT WORK with Leopard ( OS 10.5 )

If you are not prepared to upgrade your Photoshop 7, DO NOT UPGRADE TO LEOPARD.
Photoshop 7 and OS 10.5.x (Leopard) are not compatible. When Adobe released Photoshop 7 in 2001 as a Universal Binary for OS9 and OSX they had no idea that Apple would be switching to an Intel chip in 2006. As the release of Leopard is also the end of the Classic environment, this may be the reason Photoshop 7 does not work in Leopard.
As of the release of CS4, Photoshop 7 can no longer be used as a path to upgrade Photoshop. A full version has to be bought now. But Photoshop CS or later can still be used as an upgrade to Photoshop CS4.
It is recommended that Photoshop 7 owners still looking to save money on upgrades stay away from eBay, as, unfortunately, much of the software listed is pirated or misrepresented and you will still not be able to upgrade to CS4.

  • Deskjet D4260 does not work with an ethernet printer server

I am attempting to attach a Deskjet D4260 printer to a home ethernet network using a StarTech PM1115U printer server. The printer has been connected to the network through a desktop computer, and worked perfectly.  The printer server will also work with a different printer (Canon i550).  However, it doesn't work with the D4260.  The server's port will not go online, and it does not appear to recognize the printer.
This occurs regardless of OS (Windows XP, VIsta, 7, and 8 preview all don't  work).
StarTech says there is no incompatibility issue with the server and host-based LIDL printers in general or the D4260 in particular.  Does anyone know of any issues, or how to get the D4260 to work with this printer server?

Yes, that is how the instructions with the server tell you to install it.  The server is connected to the network via ethernet cable and the printer to the server via USB.  The server's instructions (as well as those given to me from StarTech support) say to install the printer as a local printer using a TCP/IP port using the server's IP address, which must be on the same subnet as the computer you are installing the printer on.  All this I have done.  There are a number of settings for the port.  It can be raw or LPR and there are other options.  I have attached it as instructed, and I have tried both raw and LPR, and tried various other settings.  I was able to install a Canon i550 on the server with no difficulties.  I was able to print to the printer, and the server, when I accessed it using either StarTech's server management software or a browser pointed to the IP address, showed the server's port on line and identified correctly the printer attached to it.  When I attach the D4260, however, it shows the port off line and does not identify the printer.  I got this server as a replacement for one that I bought without knowing that, according to its own documentation, it does not work with LIDL orinters.   StarTech did not have any such warning, and the StarTech support people said that there should be no problem with a LIDL printer.  They told me to consult HP support (to which this forum is the closest thing I can find).  It looks to me as if either there is something about the printer that needs to be reset, or the server does not work with this printer.  So far changing the driver does something, but not enough to print.

  • HP LaserJet P1005 not working with Snow Leopard

Has anyone managed to get this printer to work with Snow Leopard 10.6? I have installed the latest drivers* from the HP website which BTW do not say they support 10.6 , see http://is.gd/2DfcE
*Not sure exactly what the version number of the drivers is. The website says they are version 1.0.7, but when installed they show version 1.0.6
I either get nothing coming out of the printer or an error "PrintJobMgr quit unexpectedly - This report will be sent to Apple automatically".

    From this web page:
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can use if there is an issue:
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, reset printing system as described below, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, contact the printer vendor and/or visit their website for printer software and support.

  • AE not working with Leopard and fed up

It happened a while ago, and set it up again, and again, again.
It all stated after upgrading to Leopard
Today I was about to listen to some music through AE, and once again it didn't work. I had the green light on, it shows as connected in my router setup page. I have change internet suppliers a couple of month ago and have brand new router, but it was happening with my previous router too. In fact in the last 5 months I have used 4 different router, all branded. Airport Utility couldn't find AE.
Today I spend more than 2h simply trying to set it up again.
It took 4 or 5 hard reset before Airport Utility finally found the AE.
When I clicked on continue, 9 time out of 10 I got
    Base Station Error
Airport Utility was unable to find Apple wireless device
while it is was obliviously showing before
    and back to hard reset.
If I connect an ethernet cable I get the self-addressed IP trouble, but strangely I have managed to set up AE only when the ethernet cable was connected, but the set-up was through WIFI, as it asked me to switch network.
I tried to switch off the firewall with no success either.
I looked at my local wireless networks using iStumber, and once again find some new network with the same channel as mine, so I changed mine to a channel not used. I did this a month ago already.
As I said some how after 2h of wasted time etc, I finally managed to get it going, and started to listen to some radio with Airfoil. After about an hour of listening, it when dead again.
Airport Utility doesn't find the device any more, like at the start of the day. iTunes doesn't make it available, my green light is on, my router shows it as connected, and of course I cannot print any more.
I am getting really fed up. It has been working ok for a couple of years with Tiger, but with Leopard it just works when either it wants.
After all these are Apple products, are not cheap, and don't work.
All are with last firmware, last upgrade etc..
Please tell me why all this is happening, why there isn't any fixes. We are 10.5.6 more than 18 month after launch of Leopard, with snow leopard about to become available. Is it because I am using a non intel machine?
    Many thanks

Reading over your message, I am a little unclear about how far along you are in sharing your LightRoom setup with the Laptop. I am going to assume that right now Lightroom and the pictures are both on the PC and on an internal Hard Drive. And except for the scary message you had at the beginning of changing to ver 1.2, everything is working ok. Yes?
What I'd do is wait until you get the external drive up and working. Once you are satisfied that the system works ok, and you have tested it with whatever diagnostic software you use, you are ready to start moving your images to the new drive.
Do a good backup of your images to your backup drive.
Move them to the hard drive from within Lightroom: Use the '+' symbol in the heading of the Folders panel to tell LR to add a new folder from the external drive to the LR folders panel, and then drag and drop the folders already in LR over to their new home.
This way the LR Catalog will always know where the files are.
Then when you are sure that all the image files are on the external drive and LR sees them all and everything is working correctly, exit from LR and copy the catalog file over there.
I used to use windows systems, although I converted to Mac a few years ago. You should be able to double-click on that catalog file that is on the external drive and it should start Lightroom and you should be good to go.
I just used the word "should" three times meaning I'm not really positive about that last step; if I'm wrong I hope someone on a PC will post a correction.
Once it is working OK on the PC with the external drive Load LR on the Laptop.
    Best Wishes!

  • Printer Drivers Not Working with Leopard

I downloaded the Oki C5150n driver for Intel Macs and they don't work properly with Leopard. I need to use the bypass feed, but the drop down menu to choose the paper source only drops partway down not allowing any choices.
This is only happening with CS and CS3. The printer works fine with MS Office.
I have the Oki driver on my Macbook Pro and it works fine, but I'm running Tiger on the Macbook Pro.
    Any Help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Homer

Same issues here...same setup. This has been an intermittent issue for some time now. My latest incident was when power was lost during one of the big snow storms. Print jobs hang when going trough Time Capsule (wired or wireless) but are fine if plugged into computers USB port. I have resolved this issue before by following similar steps outlined above, but the solution seem to be hit or miss.

  • ATI Radeon 9600 Mac & PC Edition will not work with leopard

When I installed a new ATI Radeon 9600 Mac & PC Edition, 256MB; my Dual 2 GHz G5 (June 2004) will not allow me to drive my Apple Cinema Display while running under leopard, (neither 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 with Leopard Graphics Update).
The mac starts up as usual and gets to the white screen with Apple logo -then the progress ring eventually stalls. The mouse pointer becomes visible and can be moved freely around this screen.
I can connect from other macs on the network and navigate files, but screen sharing results in an all black window.
The Radeon 9600 works fine if I start up the mac with the Tiger installation disk.
I have tried every suggestion that I could find on these boards and elsewhere: zapped the pram, reset the SMU, installed older ATI Drivers, etc...
Of course the G5 is far out of warranty. I've been running Leopard since the day it shipped - so that's out of warranty now, and there is little help to be found on the ATI/AMD website. I'm afraid I'll have to return the card before Apple releases another graphics update.
The stock graphics card that came with this mac is the nVIDIA 64MB GeForce FX 5200 - but it's having trouble keeping up with Leopard's demands - my isight barely works, most special effects in iChat and PhotoBooth are unusable, and of course I'm not given the option to use a transparent menu bar,
I am really good at swapping video cards in the G5 now - but I'm so frustrated.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
    thanks

  • Hp laserjet 1320 not working with new mac

i've recently bought a new apple computer, the mac runs with os x 10.9.2.
now i'm trying to get my old hp laserjet 1320 to work together with my new computer - but neither the mac is cooperating nor the old laserjet. i've also installed a new hp officejet pro 8600 - this printer/scanner/fax works well, but i also wanted to use my old laserjet until i run out of printing cartrigdes )
    thanks for the help!!!

    Hello nyc213,
It sounds like you are unable to use your LaserJet printer with your computer. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
OS X Mavericks: Solve printing problems
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14142
    Check the printer
Go to the printer and check the following:
It’s turned on and is displaying normal status lights.
It has paper, and the paper isn’t jammed.
It has enough ink or toner.
    Its cables are properly connected.
If your printer is attached to your computer’s USB port, open System Information, then click USB. If the printer’s name appears in the hardware list but the printer doesn’t work, review the printer’s documentation for further troubleshooting information.
    Check your device’s USB connection
If the printer is on the network, open Printers & Scanners preferences, then add the printer again to create a new printer queue. For instructions, see:
    Set up a printer
Use the best software for your printer
Make sure you have the correct version of your printer’s software (also called its printer driver).
If you’re using a printer that another user is sharing, make sure you’re both using the same version of the printer software. To find out which version you’re using, select the printer in Printers & Scanners preferences, click Options & Supplies, then click General. Note the driver version.
If you’re using a network printer or a printer attached to your Mac, make sure you have the latest version of the software for the printer. If you still have problems, try different printer software for your printer.Change or update printer software
If you still can’t print, reset the printing system.
    Reset the printing system
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • IPhone 5 still not working with 5GHz wireless frequency?

Even with the latest 6.0.2 update, for sure the iPhone 5 has some sort of bug that prevents it from streaming properly using the 5GHz frequency in dual-band routers.  I just got a brand new Netgear 600N wireless router (for home) and brand new Belkin 750 dual band (for work).  Both have 5GHz band frequency option, but on either one, the iPhone 5 hardly downloads, or at all.  It's as if a 14.4 K modem and molases had a baby.
Switching to 2.4GHz, and download speeds are normal relative to my service provider.
It's not the distance of the iPhone to the routers either, because they're literally an arm's length away when I'm testing it.
APPLE, what do you have to say about this?

Hi Tom from Jabra - One question - I got IPhone 5 do I NEED to spend the extra bucks on a HALO2 Apple version, or save the dollar for other accessories ?
In other words: Will the HALO2 (not the Apple version) work with Apple and non Apple devices?
In advance thanks for your time!

  • Auto-capitalization not working with apple wireless keyboard?

My ipad settings have auto-cap on. When using the on-screen keyboard the auto-cap works. When I switch to the wireless apple keyboard auto capitalization fails to work.
    Any suggestions?
Does anyone have the wireless apple keyboard working with auto cap on iPad?

Did you ever find a solution to your problem?  I have the same issue but mine also includes the period shortcut.
If I am hooked up to my keyboard the auto stuff doesn't work even if I manually tap the screen to type.
The fact that this does not work is the issue - not laziness in relying on shortcuts.  This needs to be fixed.

  • Airport Extreme and Express not working with Leopard

Both Exreme and Express appeared on Disk Utilty as "green" and worked with Tiger, after I installed new OS Leopard neither appears and cannot connect wirelessly.
    What's up? TOM

Although the Upgrade path is touted as the "simplest" if may be the most troublesome if your Mac had a lot of third-party applications running on it prior to upgrading. Unfortunately, it's too early to offer much advise on what may have gone wrong with your AirPort connectivity. My guess, at this time, is that you may have some corrupted AirPort configuration files in your System folder.
Do you, by chance, have a clone backup of your previous disk? If so, it might be worth the trouble to return your Mac to its previous configuration, and then, try upgrading using the "Archive and Install" method. This will ensure a "clean" copy of Leopard, and just transition your user settings as appropriate. You may also want to post in the new Leopard Discussions area as well.
