HP Laserjet 3030 no longer scans to pdf since running Windows 7

Since I've been running Windows 7, my HP Laserjet 3030 will no longer scan to pdf - just bmp, jpeg, png & tiff.  I own Adobe Acrobat.  How can I scan to pdf?
This question was solved.

Hi,
You can open Adbe Acrobat and scan from there. You will get more control of the PDF files under Adobe  Acrobat product. Please also check driver from the following link:

(Very little for Windows 7).

  • HP LaserJet 4MV no longer prints from PDF on MacBook Air

Yes, I still use my Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4MV and with my MacBook Air with which I have been printing from Preview, Safari screen, email, AND from PDF's since I downloaded a patch from online 1-1/2 years ago.  Inexplicably the HP LaserJet 4MV no longer prints from any Adobe PDF in any program.  I can print any other document except PDF still.  I can print PDF's on my other printers including a Brother.  I have uninstalled and redownloaded Adobe Reader.  It is a mystery.
Any suggestions?  Did I accidentally download some update (I try to never download Adobe updates) possibly that 'cancelled out' my ability to print on my HP Laserjet 4 MV?   Any ideas would help. Thank you so much.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

I am unable to print pdf files/documents and I am unable to scan documents into pdf format.

    Hi there @jdwigg ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I read your post, and I hope to help out! As you are able to print successfully from your Windows 7 laptop, the printer is functioning fine, and the issue is most likely software related to your Windows 8.1 computer.
Here are some links I would recommend you check out to see if they can help with the problem printing PDF files:

  • UPGRADED TO ADOBE 11.0.06 AND CAN NO LONGER PRINT PDF'S RUNNING WINDOWS 64 BIT.  SAME ON 2 LAPTOPS

When i hit print a pdf document since i upgraded , no document goes to my printer Q...nothing happens?
    Any fixes?
Same is hapening on my wifes computer.

Wow! At least it's not just me!
I've been trying to do various tests, and now my results are a bit different:
    Going off Candace's notes:
    1) Doesn't work for me. This is what I used to do and want to do again: create a PDF from any application by clicking Print (eg, the Print link on web page) or pressing command-P. No file is created now.
    2) I didn't even know this option existed. It worked for me, but I don't want to print my documents there. I want to be prompted for a name and folder of my choosing in the dialog box.
    3) Oddly, this morning after reading Candace's response, I now only get prompted with one dialog box, not two. Again, I don't want to do this. I want it to work as before where after invoking Print I would be offered a dialog box asking me what to name the file and in which folder to create it.
Thanks, Candace! I appreciate your post!

  • Printing to pdf when running Windows in Boot Camp

I have reluctantly installed Windows 7 on my Macbook Air (1.7 GHz, Core i5, 4 GB, OS 10.8.2). I run a simulation program which produces a report for printout. I would like to have the option of printing to pdf so that I can select pages for printing, change print quality and print additional copies of selected pages from the report.
The software developer advises using PrimoPDF. Is it possible to select this as the default printer in Windows so that the program prints to PrimoPDF automatically?

Our photosmart premium all in one fax, scanner printer no longer scans to PDF files.
It prints ok and we can scan to photo directly from the scanner to USB and from / to the PC.

  • My iPhone 5 is no longer visible to my PC via Windows Explorer

My iPhone 5 (running iOS 8.02) is no longer visible to my PC (running Windows 7) via Windows Explorer. In the past, I have been able to see the phone listed as a Device in Windows Explorer when connected via USB cable, and could navigate to the DCIM folder to see and copy photos just like any other hard driver.
Since installing iOS 8.02, the phone no longer appears in Windows Explorer.
If this is no longer possible, how can I transfer photos from iPhone to PC?  I have tried clicking around in iTunes, but can't find any relevant functionality there, either - am I missing something?

You're welcome.  There are many blurred lines with respect to iOS 8 photo management -- i.e. is the photo actually on the device, or only in iCloud?  If it is in iCloud only, and you put it into an album on the iPhone, does it get downloaded to the device and is it still full resolution?
Part of the problem may be that there are still some unfinished things with respect to photos.  The "iCloud Photo Library" feature seen in pre-iOS 8 release is still in beta form, so whenever that gets full release there could be some sense in all this.  There's also the pending replacement of iPhoto and Aperture on the Mac platform, slated to be replaced by a new "Photo" app, so that may play into the big picture on photo management.
But for the time being, I don't feel that the changes to photo management in iOS 8/ iCloud have been for the better.  I can only hope that we get a more elegant photo management process with these pending changes.

  • Hp laserjet 3030 would print and now won't

When I plugged in the hp laserjet 3030 all-in-one to my mac mini and added a printer it worked!
Then, I found the driver CD that came with the printer so I thought I'd install the HP Director so I could scan etc.
Now the printer won't print, I used to get an error message that said something about a postscript and the number 13. I don't recall the entire message because I no longer get it, instead ...
I see in the printer que window that it is starting the job, then it just quits without anything being printed.
I've tried to unistall and install the printer multiple times. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I go to printer/fax preferences and remove any printers from my list. I've gone to user/library/printers and deleted any printers in that folder. I'm nervous to delete items in the mac hardrive/library/printers folder.
I've repaired disk permissions multiple times.
    No luck
The strange thing is that I can use the hp director to use the scanner. The scanner works but printing won't go through.
    Please, please help.

Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
Make sure the router is broadcasting at 2.4 ghz and not 5 ghz.

  • MFP M127fn - Can't Scan to PDF

I just bought this MFP and I can't figure out how to set it up to scan to PDF.  I installed the software from the CD, then tried installing software from the web site.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe and still don't have the option to scan to PDF.  I found a post from 7-29-2014, but didn't understand the statement:   "Once the HP Scan is software, click on Save as PDF."   I've spent half of a Saturday researching and trying any solution I could find, but still no luck.

  • Windows 8.1: Scan to pdf with Epson WF 3520?

  • Adobe 9 Black on White Document Scans to PDF Invert Black to White and vice versa! Not Good!

I have the same problem as TexasLawyer (Jul 30 2009) whose question was not answered nor was there any answer to a commenter who said he has the same problem ("I have an old HP LaserJet 3330 multifunction printer, and prefer scanning documents out of Adobe Acrobat rather than the software that came with the scanner.  However, after upgrading to Acrobat 9 Professional, the scans result in negative images.  I tried using the option in Acrobat to create negative images, hoping that that would result in a positive, but it didn't work. I'm using Windows XP, also.")
Me too. Except I am running XP as a virtual machine in a MAC (Snow Leopard). I "upgraded" to Acrobat 9 from a functioning Acrobat  6 (worked fine with my setup to make correct B&W pdf's from scanned B&W documents on the HP 3330 before I installed Adobe 9--I got updates immediately and am at version 9.1.3) butthe  Acrobat 9.1.3 scans on the HP 3300 invert white to black and black to white. The printer option box to invert black and white images was unchecked.  I checked it and ran the scan again but same result--white of paper document is black in pdf and black is white in pdf. I can scan the B on W document using grayscale and get B on W but the file is too large and unacceptable due to smudges picked up with gray scale.
Can't understand how so basic a use of Adobe is this messed up.This has to be a common problem since many many users scan black on white documents to pdf. Does anyone have a solution to this? It is critical in my profession.
Thanks in advance to you problem solvers out there that can solve this for me and hte others in my boat who search these forums looking for the answer to this issue.

I have an HP6010 scanner (sheet feed) that is used to scan multiple page documents. If I use the WIA scanner option I cannot select page size and the scanner defaults to legal size. On the other hand if I use the Twain driver I get negative images on my scans. I just installed Acrobat X Pro and the same thing is happening. I was using Acrobat 9. In fact in duplex mode the scanner outputs a negative image every other page, and a standard image on the alternate pages. Either way I am frustrated. I can't remember when the problem began, but I believe I was running XP SP2 and Acrobat 7 or 8.
Ironically, if I push the scan to PDF button on the scanner, which uses an HP utility, it comes out fine. All pages are in positive mode.
I did try scanning in color even though the document is black and white. I believe that the scan was fine. No negative images, but scanning in color is like watching the sun go down.
I thought it was Vista and System 7, then I was told that it had to be a scanner issue and that I needed to talk to HP. However, if the scanner functions properly on its own, with the HP utilities, then it has to be Acrobat.

  • Scan to pdf C7280 not available after windows 8.1 upgrade

After upgrading to 8.1, my program from HP no longer worked.  Now I cannot scan to PDF on my HP C7280.  my only option now is to scan to JPG or some other useless file type for documents.  I have loaded and reloaded and reloaded the updated driver and complete solution package but it will not finish installing to show me the same HP software I had before, I have to resort to the windows version supplied with Windows 8.1.  PLEASE help!!!!

    Hello gard1104,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you no longer have an option to "Scan to PDF" using the Photosmart C7280. I will do my best to assist you! I realize you have uninstalled/reinstalled the software already. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? Let's try a couple of steps:
Please perform a "Level Three Uninstall" on your computer: (If you have this printer connected by a USB cable, then remove this cord from computer.
    a) On the keyboard, hit the Windows key and "R" together. In the Run box type in %temp% and hit enter.
    b) Locate the correct folder starting with "7z" (the correct folder contains "Util" and "CCC" folders).
    c) Open folder "Util".
    d) Open folder "CCC".
    e) Please run the L3uninstall.bat.
    f) When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Also, make sure Adobe Reader is installed on your computer. Please follow this HP document on The PDF File Type Is Not an Option When Scanning from HP Solution Center in Windows. Only perform "Solution Two" from this document.
Next, please perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. Restart the computer once this step is completed. Now, you want to install the full feature software from the HP website here. Choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Hp envy 5531 Will No Longer Scan or Copy

So far I had really enjoyed using my HP Envy 5531 Printer. However,  about a month or two ago my printer's screen showed that it had an update available. I went ahead and told it to do the update, but now my printers scan and copy functions no longer will function. It will not scan or copy from either the computer or directly from the printer. This is a frustrating issue and is going to be a big problem when it is time to change the ink cartridges since it uses the scan function to calibrate the print heads.
When trying to copy or scan directly on the printer sometimes the scan bar will move a bit then stop and screen on the printer has a circle that spins and spins; other times the scan bar does not move at all and I only get the spinning circle.  I waited once to see how long it would spin to see if it would give me some sort of error code but after 4 hours I gave up. The only way to get it off this spinning circle and back to the menu screens is to turn off the printer.  When trying to scan from a computer I get an error that says cannot establish communication.
When printer is turned on the scan bar does move slightly back and forth, and lights for a second ( I believe this is an startup check).
I am running Windows 8, However, since this is also happening on the printer itself I believe  this is a hardware issue and not a software issue.
What I have done so far to try and correct the issue, but nothing worked:
Tried to scan or copy on the printer itself (this is part of my problem, does not work)
Check if able to scan from multiple computers (and tried it on a computers that are running: Windows 8,  8.1, 7, and Vista.)
Ran HP Print and scan doctor numerous times with these results: Driver check has yellow triangle with exclamation point (I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software I do not believe this is the real problem since it will not print on the printer itself) & green circle with a wrench  on Windows (WIA) Scan.
             Uninstall and reinstall software
             factory reset the printer
             unplugged printer overnight
my question is;  is there some way I can get the update off of the printer to see if that fixes it? or is there something I can put into the printer itself to reprogram it and fix the scanner problem?
I am still under warranty, but would rather not be without a printer if it is at all possible that I can do something on my own.
Thanks so much for your time!

Hello there @kmk0573, welcome to the forums!
I have read through your post about your HP Envy 5531 no longer copying or scanning. The issue, as you mentioned is a hardware issue with the printer itself. To  answer your question, no, there is not a way to revert the update that had been done.
My best suggestion to you would be to call HP directly and inquire about a replacement printer under warranty. I understand you may be printer-less for a bit of time however, I think it's worth it! You have tried all of the steps I would have suggested.
