HP Laserjet 3052 Compatibility

I'm looking for an All-In-One printer. Does anybody have any info (good or bad) on the HP Laerjet 3052 All-In-One? Will it work with the iMac (Intel) running 10.4.8?
Suggestions on alternatives are also welcome!

I can confirm what everybody else in this thread has said and add one detail. I bought an HP 3055 all-in-one yesterday and after installing the software, not only wouldn't it scan ("waiting for PC..." forever) but it also wouldn't print, AND another HP printer elsewhere on my network STOPPED working.
After an hour on the phone with HP support (10 minutes just to register my info), the guy confirmed that there is no 10.5 driver, didn't know when there would be one, and added the following amazing fact. Not only does the software on the CD that comes with the printer/scanner not work with 10.5, it actually BREAKS its printing from Leopard (and similarly the 10.4 or earlier downloadable drivers from hp.com). He claimed that printing from 10.5 works on the 3055 out of the box, but if you are so reckless as to install the software that actually came with the printer, it permanently stops working. (Plus, apparently, stops the printing of other HP devices.)
He went on to say the only fix was to re-install the Mac OS . However, I can report that after un-installing every piece of HP software on my machine (using their uninstallers, not just deleting), then restarting, the printer now works, and so does the other HP printer on the network. (Scanning still doesn't work.)
Btw, echoing other complaints on this thread, the reason I bought a new HP scanner was because my old one had stopped working ever since (I think) 10.4, and I finally gave up.

  • HP Toolbox FX Software and Driver for HP LaserJet 3052

    Dear Sir,
I have lost my software driver for HP LaserJet 3052, currently I am using the printer (HP LaserJet 3052) with driver downloded from HP website. However, many features have dissappered. I can no longer able to print both side.
Where can I download the HP LaserJet 3052 driver software with fully features?
Where can I have HP LaserJet 3052 Toolbox software?
    Thank you verry much.

    Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
The HP Toolbox FX ( as part of a Full Feature Software) is not compatible with Windows 7 but only a UPD solution, full functionality is only available uisng compatibility mode with the Windows Vista software but for a 32-bit OS only, not for a 64-bit OS:

  • Laserjet 3052 Max OS X 10.8 scanning problem

I have a new Macbook Pro with retina display that is running OSX 10.8.2.  I have connected it by USB cable to our old HP Laserjet 3052 which has been used succesfully both for printing and scanning for many years with a succession of PCs (latest one was running Windows 7).  I have no problem printing to the HP from the new Mac.  However, I can't get scanning to work.  The Mac software is up to date.  If I access the printer through Settings, Print & Scan, there is not Print|Scan button at the top -- so I can't use Preview to scan.  If I open Image Capture, the Laserject 3052 is not shown under Devices in the right had column.  I have successfully scanned to the Mac using another smaller pinter/scanner -- so the problem seems to be compatibility with the Laserject 3052, which I need for scanning larger documents.  Can anyone help me with this problem?

    Hi,
I afraid the Laserjet 3052 is no longer supported for scanning on any of the latest Mac OS versions, not by HP Software or by any Apple software, as you may find listed below:

  • Laserjet 3052 and OSX Mavericks. Scanning with HP Director does not work. Any driver download.

My iMac will not scan using OSX 10.9 Mavericks and HP Director. Prints ok. Are there any new drivers available.

    Read this thread:

My LaserJet 3052 works with Mavericks after I followed these instructions. It's not 100% stable, but it sure beats buying a new scanner/printer combo. Mine still rocks after 7 years of use!

  • HP Laserjet 3052 help

I have searched this topic and have seen where some people have managed to get their printers back fully functional.
My question is, how do you add the printer by ip address. It is clear that doing all the other steps involved disables the printer function, but allows you to scan, etc. I just need to get the printer function back and I will be all set. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't have that printer, but HP printers either have a front panel to see/set the IP address, or, they have a test/configuration page that can be printed out by pressing a button or something like that - it's usually described in the manual, but probably also online.
Just to be sure - it is connected by ethernet, isn't it? USB printers don't have IP addresses.

  • HP 3052 scanner doesn't work with Mountain Lion

So I upgraded MacBook Air to Mountain Lion and everything seems fine except I can't use scanner function on my HP 3052 AiO. The printer still prints OK but I can't see scanner anymore.
    Can anybody help me?

    Hi,
I affraid scanning is no longer supported for your product while using Mountain Lion, actually the same applies for any Mac OS X version starting from 10.6.
You may find this information stated in here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03411613 #A2
You may try using an earlier software version (The latest version intended for 10.5), however it is not assured to work and you may try it at your own risk.
In order to install the previous software you may try following the workaround below:
Enter System Preferences > Print & Scan, select the LaserJet 3052 printer and click the Minus sign to remove it.
Download the Mac OS 10.5 software below by clicking the download button:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en &cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=1140784&swItem=ma-58935-1&prodNameId=114077 9&swEnvOID=219&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0
Follow the installation by skipping the Setup Assistant till the installation will finish.
Perform the following steps in order to provide the Setup Assistant the right permissions to complete on Mountain Lion:
Open Terminal from the Utilities folder
Type “sudo “ (with space) in the Terminal.
Locate the HP Setup Assistant in folder Applications/HP LaserJet Software
Right-click (or CTRL+Left click) the HP Setup Assistant and choose “Show Package Contents”.
Open the “Contents” folder and then click “MacOS” folder. It should contain the Unix Executable File of HP Setup Assistant.
Drag the HP Setup Assistant (Unix Executable File) into the Terminal and press enter.
Terminal will ask for the password of the user.
After writing the password press Enter Button.
Now follow the Setup Assistant Steps to complete the installation.
    Good luck,
    Shlomi

  • Adding wireless capability to HP Laserjet Pro M1536DNF

I presently have an Hp Laserjet 3052 to which I do not believe I can add wireless capability.
I am considering a Laserjet  M1535DNF. The spec sheet says that wireless can be added by using a separate
accessory. Is this a reasonable purchase if I must have wireless capability?

I figured it out.  I bought this printer specifically because the Apple web site said it was compatible to print with the iPad.  Well, it is if you connect it by ethernet to a router that is connected to a wireless router.  That's the only way you'll get it to print with AirPrint.  After hours of mucking around, I finally got it to work and the ONLY way is what I've described, at least right now.  And the wireless router must be on the same network as the one accessed by your iPad.  It is great to be able to print from the iPad. Good luck.  Sudsbrew

  • HP Laserjet 3055 printer "waiting for printer to be available" after HP Printer Software Update 3.0

I have an HP Laserjet 3055 All-in-One Printer. It has been printing just fine from my iMac running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) until after the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0, that I installed on 1 Oct 2014. Although the 3055 is shown as connected/idle to my iMac via USB, after clicking "PRINT" for a document, the print queue status soon changes from "printing" to "waiting for printer to become available", and the printer never becomes available. I have tried rebooting everything (printer, computer, text software), checking USB cable connections and changing USB ports, deleting and re-adding the 3055 printer (numerous times!) even after resetting the print system, but could there be something inherently wrong with the latest HP driver (version 19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052)? Or is it possible something else is going on?  In other words, I have exhausted all the solutions I've found in these and other forums to no avail.
I have tested this printer by connecting it to my MacBook Pro (also running OX 10.9.5) but without having installed the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0. (Hadn't gotten around to this update...) The printer works fine, even though the driver has the same version number--19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052. So could the version 19.9 driver in the latest HP Printer Software Update be corrupted? Is there any way to reinstall that driver? Or copy the 19.9 driver from my MacBook Pro and install it on the iMac? HP only refers to the Apple Software Update process for Mavericks compatible drivers for this printer. Can I manually uninstall the HP driver for the Laserjet 3055 from my iMac and then have the iMac download the driver again in the process of re-setting up the 3055? Any suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks for your suggestions. After creating a bootable back-up, I tried the first suggestion--downloading and re-installing the HP printer driver update kit for which you kindly provided the link--but to no avail. Before downloading the driver update kit, I "reset the printing system", clearing all the installed printers, queues, etc. After re-installing the HP printer drivers, I went to System Preferences>Printers & Scanners to once again add the HP LaserJet 3055 only to discover it was already listed as installed! This I find baffling, to say then least. I tried printing and again got the "waiting for printer to be available" message. I subsequently tried deleting and re-adding the printer, going through the printing system reset again, but still no-go.
I also tried another approach to adding the printer which perhaps will shed some light on the problem. After clicking on the "+" button to add the printer, I select the "HP LaserJet 3055" which shows up as available via USB. Then, instead of using the "HP LaserJet 3052" driver that automatically appears in the "Use" [choose a driver] field, I chose "Auto Select" to see what happens. As the computer processes this request, the status message changes from "Gathering printer information..." to "Waiting for printer to become available..." And, of course, it never becomes available. This strikes me as odd, that the printer set-up system "sees" the printer accurately enough to list it as available to add but can't find it with the "Auto Select" approach to getting the appropriate driver. Of course, when I simply go with the "Use HP LaserJet 3052" driver option that, naturally enough, is the one automatically suggested by the printer set-up system, the printer is "successfully" added. I say "successfully" in quotes because it never becomes "available" to print something.
Before I try your second suggestion--downloading and re-installing the 10.9.5 combo update--I wonder if it's possible that the printing system reset process is "broken". It's as though the reset fails to clear the printer queue, making it appear that there is a pending printing job that the system is waiting to be finished. Also, as noted above, I reset the printing system prior to re-installing the HP printer driver update kit and then, after installation, the HP LaserJet 3055 magically had already been added. This makes me wonder if the printer wasn't properly "cleared" from whatever makes up the printer System Preference process during the reset.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Duplex printing doesn't work on HP Laserjet 3055

    Hi!
I am a new rMBP user and I need your help with setting up a printer. I want to use my old printer HP LaserJet 3055 for both side printing - using Widnows I didn't have any problem with that. The printer supports manual duplex printing - it means - print odd pages - beep - then I put sheets into the tray and click button - even pages. I use this printer via network.
I was thinking about solution for a few hours. I've tried:
installing printer with PCL, Postscript drivers,
downloaded HP drives from Apple (even app store installed some kind of upgrade but doesn't include 3055)
using HP Laserjet 3052 drivers (it's default choice by OS X)
upgrading remotely printer drives using ltr command in Terminal,
    installing printer via USB,
even installing Gutenprint and then hpijs with some sh**
The printer is printing but not on both side My first impression about  OS X Yosemite and rMBP is awsome and I know that using so old devices may cause problems but I cannot change my printer.
    Help my guys, please!!

  • Can't see HP Laserjet 3055 with Bonjour on wireless network

The printer is an HP Laserjet 3055 with Bonjour and is plugged into the LAN with an Ethernet cable. An eMac which is also connected to the network via Ethernet can see, print and scan without any issues whatsoever.
All wireless computers cannot see the HP AiO which uses Bonjour. However, by manually entering the IP address in the Print Browser and using HP jet Direct - Socket, the printer is seen from the wireless computers. Using IP printing, all wireless iMacs and the MacBook Pro can print but the HP Director doe not see the printer therefore the scanning feature of the HP Laserjet 3055 are not accessed.
iMac 20" Intels and MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   HP Laserjet 3055
      Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi Chris
This answer is rather late and you've probably sorted the problem out. At least I hope you have.
I found your post as I was looking for anyne else with an Intel Mac who had successfully printed etc with HP Laserjet 3052/3055 as I'm about to buy these for the office. After having decided on these printers after checking that they work with Tiger I realised that I coudn't confirm on the HP website that they worked with Intels.
So from your post I guess I now know that Intels do print with this printer, but did you ever sort out the scan function?

  • Embedded Printer Webpage & Java Issues

I work with many LaserJets daily and I also do a great deal of troubleshooting for them. I`ve been able to figure out or I just simply knew how to fix many of the problems our printers present. They are all very old devices. They are the following, along with the number of each that I`m responsible for:
    -HP LaserJet 4100 (12)
    -HP LaserJet 4050 (3)
    -HP LaserJet 3052 (23)
    -HP LaserJet M1522n (1)
    -HP LaserJet 1200 (1)
    -HP LaserJet 1300 (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet 4600 (4)
    -HP Color LaserJet 3700 (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet 2605dn (1)
It`s not a huge number of printers but there is high demand for printing and when I get calls for printers offline, it is almost always the same issue...the device has been assigned a new IP.
Now I`m aware that setting the cinfiguration to Manual, or static, thge IP will stick to its printer and not change. I have set most of them to have a static IP but others use an old, external Jet Direct print server. You know, the kind that have the big paralell port. I can`t seem to access those device`s embedded webpages no matter what I do and I`ve done jkust about everything. I keep getting a message that says the Java plug-in needs to be updated. I updated it and nothing. Still blocks me from accessing the webpage. I need to access the webpage to more easily make changes without having to run around campus troubleshooting.
Any idea on what could be causing the print server embedded webpage to not display? I get security warnings too, but tried alteringf those and still no luck.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello RaelS.
To reset the EWS user name and password, you can try reset network settings to default.
Setup - Network - Restore Network Defaults.

  • Laser Multi-function printer recommendation

I know I'm probably not supposed to be asking for product recommendations here, but am not sure where else to go (if there are other good forums for this kind of thing, please let me know).
Anyone have any recommendations on a good laser multi-function printer? I'm interested in specific models, but am more interested in brands that are actually friendly to Macs in terms of updating software, providing support, etc. My current model is an HP Laserjet 3052, for which there is still no software update to accommodate for Leopard (which was released months ago).
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

After long consideration and being fed up with issues with HP printers in he past (especially with limited functionalities with Mac OS), I bought me a Canon MP560 this summer.
I think it's a great value for money, to refill the ink is reasonably priced (o.k., it could always be cheaper), but my most favorite feature is that I can print and scan from anywhere in the house. So far I am very pleased with both the scanning and printing results. Installation and handling of the SW suite is a child's play.
If I had to print more I would actually look into a Laser / LED MFP... perhaps the Brother MFC-9120CN or its wireless brother MFC-9320CW, which costs actually quite a bit more.
Unfortunately, as it seems, Canon has nothing to offer in this class of printers at reasonable prices that are also rated high.
    Just my 10 cents.

  • Cannot print since upgrading to Maverick

I have just upgraded to Maverick and my printer stopped printing. I have a HP 8600 Pro Office Jet. The printer is running low on ink but will print from Windows and also from the mac when printing a test page. When I try and print an email for example it goes to the print queue but will not actually print. There is a warning the ink is low (but not an error). Could it be the ink level even though a test page works fine or are there other likely problems.
    Thanks
