Hp laserjet 3055 won't scan in windows 8

I have a HP Laserjet 3055 All In One printer/scanner/copier/fax/cusinart and it will print on my new Lenovo desktop with Windows 8 but will not scan.  It is hooked up at the computer and the HP device by USB.  Little help for a Luddite out there?

Thank you for the tech support and response on the community forum.  Somehow, someway after receiving my response in the forum, I got my printer installed complete with wireless function operational.

My hp LaserJet CM1415fnw won't scan from my computer using the paint application on my computer.  I had no problem with previous computer.  But I purchased a new computer with Windows 8 and the can option in Paint cannot be selected.

    Hi HelenBay,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP LaserJet CM1415fnw will not scan from your Windows 8 computer, and I am happy to help you with this scanning issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please try the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • Officejet 6500 wireless printer won't scan in Windows 8.1

    My 6500 won't scan.
I read in my Windows 8.1 for dummies that it may be too old.
I purchased it in the summer of 2010.
After I plugged my printer into my new Windows 8.1,  I performed a 'test' through a wizard that claimed 'scan successful' but I have no icin on my desktop (like I did when my printer was hooked up to my old XP computer), and so have no way to access the scanner comtrols.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi eliann77,
I would recommend that you make sure all of your Windows Updates have been done first. If there is still no change after that, please try installing the printer via the in operating system driver, and see if you're able to scan that way with the Windows software. If that works I would recommend sticking with that method, because I believe your Dummies book may be right that this printer is too old for Windows 8.1.
I hope this information has been helpful and I hope you have a great weekend

  • Acrobat X Pro + HP LaserJet 3055 = low contrast scans

    Hello,
I have upgraded to Acrobat X Pro and am using it with an HP Laserjet 3055 all-in-one. My issue is that the scans of documents using grayscale are particulalry devoid of contrast, making them look faded out in the scan. Is there a way to correct this?  If I go to "PDF From scanner" then "Configure presets" there are no options to adjust contrast. I don't see any adjustements to make in "Edit" "Preferences" either.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
I initially had the same problem in Acrobat 9, but I was able to tweek something to correct it - but that was so long ago, I have forgotten what it was.
    thank you,
    Todd Last

Try using  Optimization filters which have some filters to remove background (that removes the background shadows and other unwanted artifacts) and sharpen text (that makes your text look crisper and sharper).
To access these filters, just check the option "Optimize Scanned PDF" and click on button "Options.."
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks

  • HP Laserjet M1522nf Won't Scan

Info: HP Laserjet M1522nf, Windows 8.1 Laptop, Connected through USB
    Hey guys,
I recently got a new laptop windows 8.1.  I connected and then downloaded and installed the driver and everything went smoothly.  Printing to the printer works fine however everytime I try and scan something I get the error message "A problem prevented the document from being scanned. Please try again or for troubleshooting information, see Help and Support or the information that came with the scanner".  The printer makes all the noise and I see the progress bar of the scan moving however everytime at the end I get the error message.  I've tried running the scans through different applications such as gallery, running "Windows Fax and Scan" as Admin and stopping the and restarting Windows imaging. None have worked so far.  I tried doing a preview of the scan and the printer makes all the right noises and I even see the preview of the document within the program, however get a slightly different error message, ""An error occurred while setting scanner properties.  If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again".  If I try to scan after that preview I get the previous error message about "a problem."  I tried unplugging, restarting the laptop and printer to no aval.  Please let me know of any possible solutions, thanks.

  • HP LASERJET P1005 WON'T PRINT SINCE WINDOWS UPDATED

The last 2 times that Windows has updated I have had problems printing. The first time, I uninstalled and re-installed the printer and also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Neither of those successfully fixed the problem and I ended up rolling back to before the update.
Now, with a new update, I am experiencing the same issues. The printer works fine for a couple of jobs and then I just get print error messages.
    This question was solved.

    Hi @54981  ,
I see that you are having issues printing, after the Windows Update. I would be happy to help you.
Most likely with the Windows Update is installing a new driver for the printer, which is causing this issue.
I would remove the latest Windows Updates from the computer.
Most likely these two KB2982791, KB2970228 updates are the culprits.
You may have to do another System Restore to get the printer working again.
I would suggest to turn off the Automatic Updates for Windows, then you can manually go in at any time and uncheck anything related for the printer before running the updates, so this won't keep happening.
Turn automatic updating on or off.
Install Windows updates in Windows 7 manually.
Feel free to click the Thumbs up button below if this helps.
    Have a nice weekend!

  • HP PSC 2350 won't scan in windows 8.1

Recently purchased new HP PC operating on Windows 8.1.  My printer is an HP PSC 2350, model B209a.  I can print with no problem.  Unable to scan to PC.  Tried downloading software.  Get error message that the download is blocked which means I cannot download the printer software to the PC.    Of course, the CD that came with the printer will not work with Windows 8.1.
    What else can I try?

  • HP LaserJet 6L won't work with Windows 8

    Good afternoon all,
Right I inherited this great little printer last year, it worked great with Windows 7 but now it wont work with Windows 8, it appears to be installed and the drivers are all up to date but when I use it to print a pile of random characters come out on the pages and doesn't stop. I've reinstalled it and installed it again and again every different way but it just doesn't work and HP says that it is compatible (there is a green tick beside it somewhere on your website). Could it be that I'm using a cable that is parallel at the printer end and USB at the computer end that is at fault?
    James.

I had the same problem, and fixed it.
Control Panel - Devices and Printers
    Click on "Add a Printer"
Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed"
For USB connection, choose "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings"
Pick an existing port.  I use a cable that has LPT port at one end, USB at the other end.  So my choice is USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB)
Now you see the list of manufacturers and models.  Before doing anything, click on "Windows Update" and let it run (takes a few minutes)
Once the update is complete and you're back to the list of manufacturers and models, select HP as the model, and select HP LaserJet 6L as the printer.  Without Windows Update, it will only show "HP LaserJet 6L PS Class Driver", which causes the problem.  Stick to "HP LaserJet 6L"
The rest is straight forward.  Print a test page and check if it comes out right.  Good luck!!

  • HP Laserjet P1006 won't work with Windows 8.1

I have an HP Laserjet P1006 which I installed on my new Windows 8 laptop. Everything was working fine. I did an update last night to 8.1. The printer no longer works. I went to the website and downloaded the latest driver which said it would work with 8.1. After it was installed the printer still would not work. When I go to the control panel and see the printer it still tells me no driver is found. HELP

    Hello
I understand you are no longer able to print with the P1006 on Win8.1.
Did you uninstall the P1006 first?
If not uninstall and reinstall the printer software again.
Both drivers are the same if you look at the version on the website and should still work with the Win8.1.

  • LaserJet 4200 won't collate in Windows 7 32 bit

Love my sturdy LaserJet 4200.  But now that the computer is upgraded to Windows 7 32 bit, we can't get it to collate.  Many computer savvy people have worked on it and no one can solve it, and unfortunately this is a pretty important issue to us.  It looks like other people in this forum have collating issues and no one seems to have been able to come up with a solution.
Do we need a driver update?  I don't think so, but...  I have seen the recommended steps for using Windows Update to get a driver.  There are many for 4200 but they all seem to have a date of 2006 (pre-Windows 7).  I am currently using driver HP LaserJet 4200/4300 PCL6.
Are there any other suggestions?  Or is this just a bug we have to cope with/consider getting a new printer?  Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem with a LJ 4200 installed on Windows 8.1.
I downloaded the Universal Print Driver for PCL5 from HP at: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=84030&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4132.
Download the PCL5 driver (not the PCL6) and save the file to a folder where you can find it quickly.
    Then:
    1) Turn your printer ON (make sure it is connected to the PC) and open Control Panel in Windows;
    2) Click on "Add Printer"
    3) When the Add Printer window opens - do nothing until the search completes - then DO NOT select any of the printers in the "Select a Printer" box - instead, click on the prompt at the bottom of the window that says "The printer that I wanted isn't listed" - this will open a window titled "Find a Printer by other Options" - Select the last option at the bottom of this  window titled "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and then hit NEXT.
    4) A new window opens titled "Choose a Printer Port" - select the port where you printer is connected and hit NEXT.
    5) A new window opens titled "Install the Print Driver" - DO NOT chose any of the printers  listed, instead click on the HAVE DISK button.
    6)  An "Install From Disk" window will open - at the bottom if this window where it says: "Copy Manufacturer's files from" click on BROWSE - then navigate to the folder where you save the PCL5 Driver you downloaded and click on the file name - it should highlight a file in the "File Name:" box at the bottom of the window - mine was named:  hpbuio120l.inf  (if not just open the folder and select the driver named: hpbuio120l.inf)
    7) After you select the driver file in the step above, hit OPEN - the INSTALL FROM DISK window will open - Click on OK and the driver will install the new Printer.
Once the new printer is installed - go to Control Panel, open Devices and Printers, right click on the new Printer (make sure it is Set As Default) then from the same Right Click Menu select "Printer Properties" and scroll down to "Mopier Mode" and make sure it is disabled.
You should now be able to print collated copies from the LJ 4200 without any problem whatsoever.  Good luck.

  • Laserjet 1018 won't work on windows 7

I've got an HP Laserjet 1018 that works just fine on Windows Vista 64-bit.  I just built a new PC and put Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit onto it.  The drivers on the HP support site don't work.  When I try printing something, it gets sent to the printer and just disappears.  I pause printing to see that the document actually does get sent to the printer and it shows up.  As soon as I un-pause the printer, the document disappears, but nothing prints.  Normally, when something is sent to the printer, the yellow "information" LED lights up momentarily and the document then prints.  The LED does not light up at all.  I have tried new cables, uninstalling and re-installing, etc.  Nothing works.  Just to be sure that it isn't a general printing problem, I hooked up a Laserjet 1020 onto the new machine and it works just fine.  However, that's my work printer and I can't leave it on the new computer which is a personal computer for my home.  This worked to identify that my copy of Windows 7 can indeed print, but this cannot be a long-term solution.  Help?

    Hello,
Thanks for the post.  On this one, I have a couple of ideas.  I've pasted the links below.  One is for the Win7/64 driver page and the print diagnostic utility.  I would certainly recommend the utility to help narrow down the issue.  The other is a queue related document which has some excellent information.  Good Luck!

My HP Envy 4504 won't scan.  Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit.  Has worked well in the past.  Print-scan doctor says it's all set up, but "test scan" gets an error message.  Wireless printing works.  Tried re-installing, rebooting and turning firewall off.  Printer dialogue box lists computer but says computer not responding.  Windows Photo Gallery finds the device but returns error messages "no items match your search" > "failed to initialize selected paper source"when I actually try to get a scan.  Control Panel scanner test passed.

    Hi @enjayjay
Although the Print and Scan Doctor is reliable, I suspect despite what it says, there may be a software issue.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
Uninstall the software again - Uninstalling the Printer Software Instructions
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.

  • Hp office jet pro 8600 won't scan

Wirelessly connected office jet pro 8600 won't scan in windows. I've checked to make sure proper services are running and they are. Started running diagnostics utility and the driver didn't check out but I have the correct one installed and the printer works just fine. Occasionally a message pops up and says that the computer has lost connection with the scanner. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi GradyIV,
I can help you scan from your Officejet 8600 to your Windows operating system. It sounds like you have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, is this whee you say the driver error?
I suggest using the following steps to delete the printer from device and printers, and the driver from the server properties.
    1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
    2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
    3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
    4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
    5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
    6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
If the issue persists let me know and I will do what I can to help.
