Hp laserjet 3800n problem printing envelopes

My laserjet which I've had for years always has a hard time printing envelopes, but usually if I try several times they will print, but today it isn't working.  What it does is hum for about 30-60 seconds without feeding envelopes, then stops and says fuser error (50.2?).  I did update the firmware about 1 year ago, hoping it would help this problem.  I am printing envelopes from Microsoft works on a XP machine. Thanks

Hey tswelsh,
Are you using the envelope template built into Microsoft Word to print the #10 envelopes?  If so, then I would make sure all settings are set correctly to print the envelopes.
Check to make sure the Feed option is set to the correct feed path for the Photosmart 7525.  It is possible that the Word software is expecting the envelope to come through the unit in a different location and is 'printing' your information in empty space.
Also, make sure the print driver settings are correct.  When selecting to print make sure to set the Printer Properties to the correct paper type.  Select the Paper/Quality tab to make sure that the option is set for #10 envelopes in the driver. The printer functions best when the software and driver have matching settings.
Let me know if this helps,
Jason

  • Problems printing envelope from pdf file with logo & return address.

I have the 6310 All-In-One Printer. I am experiencing major problems printing envelopes (standard size, #10) from a pdf file that is setup with a business logo, name , and address. First of all, the User Guide on page 63 directs you to load the envelope with the flaps up and on the left. This prints out return address in the lower right corner of the envelope front. I have insert the envelope opposite to the User Guide to get the information printed in the correct location, the upper left corner.
Bigger problem - The logo, which is placed to the left of the business name and address will NOT print out. My preview printer window shows the logo, but it will not print. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
    Suggestions???

  • C4780 problem printing envelopes

My HP Photosmaret C4780 is having a problem printing envelopes correctly.
What happens is that the print is shifted left about half an inch, cutting off the first part of the return address.
To test things, I've cut plain paper to the same size as the envelope (in this case #10 4.1 x 9.5 inches) and that prints fine so I'm thinking it has something to do with envelope thickness and the printer not taking up the paper correctely.
Is there an envelope setting I'm missing in the driver? A paper thickness setting?
    thanks,
    rod

Thanks for the reply. I'm still having problems with these particular envelopes, but I have made some interesting discoveries.
first, the envelopes I'm using have a peel and seal strip, which makes that part under the flap a little thicker. So I tried a regular lick 'em stick 'em envelope of the same size and it printed fine.
I tried tucking the flap as you suggested and the problem still persisted. The real strange thing is that if I load the envelope upside down, so that it will print on the flap side, the envelope prints correctly.
If I load the envelope so that it will print on the correct side (the non-flap side) but I revererse the envelope so that the flap is facing right rather than left, I have the same printing problems.
So it seems that having the flap up (with these peel and seal envelopes) is where the problem comes from whether the flap is out or tucked it.
So I guess I'll just switch to regular envelopes rather than the peel and seal kind.
    thanks again

  • Problems printing envelopes on an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless

I have had this printer for over a year and have lived in frustration with the primitive and really disfunctional way it tries to print envelopes.  The left or right side placement of a flap up number 10 envelope gets misaligned as it is pulled through for printing and on many occasions jams and tears.  The center position is the only position that will work, but not flawlessly as the envelope also misaligns as it is pulled through.  It often takes two or three tries before i can get an evenly or straight printed envelope.  I am puzzled as to how HP would engineer a product for small business use that has such a dysfunctional envelope printing system. I am otherwise not displeased with the product for almost all other uses.  It has lots of other very good features that work.  But not envelope printing.
I thought I would try to inquire as to whether a download update of software might have tried to correct this problem.  Am I alone in this?
    This question was solved.

Have you moved the paper guides to properly align the envelopes?  I do not see how envelopes can be loaded in any position but the center with the paper guides set snugly.  See page 42 (46) of the manual here.  Also, if you have the optional second paper tray note that envelopes are not supported in it, you need to use the top tray.

  • Problems printing envelopes from Address Book since Lion upgrade

I've been printing envelopes to my HP PhotoSmart 2575 All-In-One printer from Address Book without any problems for years. I upgraded to Lion and now the first envelope is blank. Second one is okay but after that their print position slips little by little up the page until they become usless. I see on the forum that there are other people with different printers but the same problem. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Hi David and Everyone Who it Might Help
I was having this problem too!  *Many* thanks to you!
I was having it with both a new brother and Epson printer.
I followed your advice and created a custom envelope and just to clarify for any future reader.  The "rotate 90 degrees" is changed under the "orientation" tab by simply selecting the layout with the picture sideways inside of straight up and down.
Second, the size change you mentioned is for the "Height," naturally, not the Width.
    Many thanks!!!  Great find.

  • Problems printing envelopes with HP 4480 all in one

I purchased the HP 4480 all in one because I was told it would  do the job(we hold a reunion each year and write to over 110 people. However I have had nothing but trouble (30 envelopes wasted already) it jams-jams-jams) sometimes at the back and sometimes at the front lots of messy hands!! Have now started to write the envelopes which defeats the whole idea of speed. Can any one help or shall I bin the printer not a year old yet.

I've had the very same issues with printing envelopes. I'm using standard #10 envelopes, so it should not be an issue. I have a new 4480 printer coming today to replace the one I have, but I am not encouraged about what will happen since I see at least another person has had the same issue.....we"ll see what happens...

  • Problem printing envelopes

I have a HP Photosmart C6280 All in one Printer.  I am trying to print envelopes - it takes the envelope throught the feed, but there is nothing on the envelope - I get an error message saying that its the wrong size or set up.  I was using an envelope template - I put the size of the envelope into the custom size area - still nothing on the envelope.
Would appreciate  step by step  info on this if possible,  I have looked in the manual and followed the unstrux.
    Thank you

I need to save the envelope data b4 printing with Word 2007. (using Vista)
Also I created a shortcut in the Printer preferences with the envelope size. (source=main, paper=plain)

  • I'm having a problem printing envelopes using OS 10.10.1 Yosemite.  Can I download an earlier version that HP thinks will work?

I'm having trouble printing envelopes using OS 10.10.1 Yosemite.  Can I download an earlier version as HP support  (my printer) advises?

Open System Preferences, choose Printers and Scanners, and you can change the default paper size, which includes different Envelope sizes. My HP printer has the image for the direction of the envelope. I have the OfficeJet 4630, and am currently using the Yosemite defaulted drivers after updating.
    an after note here:
I had issues with my printer at first as well after installing Yosemite but deleted my old HP utilities, then allowed Apple default HP driver in, then re-downloaded HP drivers, and this worked for me in all formats, including printing envelopes.

  • Problem printing envelopes with HP Deskjet 6540

Printer is about 6 years old, and to print addresses on envelopes, I always had to push the blinking yellow-arrow button to restart the print job after getting a message that the paper was the wrong size.  This worked until recently, and now the printer won't print the envelope at all.
I checked the print set-up in PrintMaster (where the print job originated), and the correct envelope size was entered in inches.  The size of the envelope that is entered in the print job queue in the HP folder, however, is given in kb's.  Is this the problem?  Any ideas of how to fix this "wrong size" issue?

I too encounter the problem requiring pushing the yellow arrow button and having my #10 envelope jam.  I read in the HP support document to try tucking in the flap of the envelope.  After doing this I still find that I have to hit the yellow arrow, but this time the envelope actually printed.  g

  • Problems printing envelopes

I have a canon iSensys LBP 6000.   Works great - still prints fine, but won't do envelopes from Address book now, although I haven't changed anything.  1st address OK, subsequent ones move across the envelope and off the edge.
Today, as well as the above problem, the 'print my address' which appears on the top left corner, only prints the last 2 lines, everything seems to have shunted up the envelope.   I use this a lot and hate having to resort to address labels, which print out fine!
Anyone else with this been able to fix it?

I would go here, input your operating system, then look at the update section:

  • J4580 problem printing envelopes

My J4580 printed #10 envelopes with no problems until recently.  It now will start printing before it has the envelope in place (before printing I push the envelope as far as it allows) resulting in only printing half of the return address or the envelope gets stuck causing a paper jam.  I've cleaned the rollers but have the same problem.  I have no trouble printing on paper.

The envelope now prints in portait mode ... as I would have expected, but different than the original experience I had.
The problem is that the envelope does not fit into the printer in that mode, and it prints as if the media were 8.5inx11in which places the text on the bottom of the page.
Since the envelope is only 8.75inx5.5in, the text misses the envelope entirely
This likely sounds very confusing. Please ask more questions if I'm not clear.

  • Laserjet 400 can't print envelopes ...

    All-
We purchesed a LaserJet 400 Color (M451) nw printer last year, and printing regular documents works fine. However, we have a lot of problems printing "non-letter" documents such envelopes, 3x5 cards, and other items. We are not trying to load different trays with different paper products -- we just want to manally feed single items using Tray 1 and have them print as directed.
The main issue is that the printer gives up before it even starts. If we create an envelope in something like Microsoft Word, and then press print, the printer automatially comes back with a "Jam in Tray 2" message before it even attempts to feed paper of any kind. Once we clear the message, it tries again, and usually prints a blank page from the normal letter-paper tray, completely ignoring our envelope sitting in the manually feed tray. The only way we have found to print these items, is to (1) open all paper trays and remove their contents, (2) re-insert all empty paper trays, and (3) manually feed the desired paper iteam (e.g. envelope) through Tray 1, and then it will work.
I miss our old HP printers that used to just work out of the box. (Sigh)
    Welcome comments.

Have same issue. HP salesman said put several envelopes in to raise the paper pile up higher so when it trys to grab the envelope it is easier to access. Also, don't forget to set the selection on your PC to the same size envelope that you are using. It won't print a #9 envelope if your selection is set on #10.
Alternative: Fool the printer! Open Windows WORD to a blank document page. Go to 'mailings' (envelopes) - click on ADD TO DOCUMENT - -- it will give you an envelope on the screen above the blank page.  Type your address onto the envelope -
be sure to place your paper envelope into the printer tray and lay a blank piece of paper on top.
When you click PRINT  -  The printer will grab the paper and pull it through as if you were printing a letter and the envelope will follow automatically.  Tah Tah!!!!   You have a printed envelope.

  • Color Laserjet 2605dn printer with printing envelopes correctly

I am having problems with my HP Color Laserjet computer which is not printing envelopes from the computer which has Windows 8.1 installed on it. It will print out letters just fine now, but had problems with that previously, using WordPerfect Suite. The printer is a Color Laserjet 2605dn, which is connected to my home network. The same problem seem to be happening on my mini laptop which is running Windows XP.  I just fixed the printing problem on my windows 7 computer and had to print my envelopes using it. The HP Mini Laptop use to print out my envelopes just fine previously, but have the same problem. On the Pavillion Sleekbook, which is the newest I have the special print software from HP which lets me print paperwork where the others are not using it. I would appreciate any help with this problem. The setup isn't correct and the envelopes don't print out correctly like they did previously.

    Hi semco72057,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
