HP LaserJet 4 with envelope feeder (C2001A)

When printing a letter or document, the printer will print out 2 envelopes with the following printing on it:   %12345X@PJL COMMENT HP LaserJet 4   @PJL SET PAGEPROTECT = OFF   @PJL SET PAGEPROTECT=AUTO  @PJL SET...
A lot of times this occurs when you first turn on the printer.  Any ideas on how to stop this.  We are going through envelopes like crazy.  My employer just put together a new computer for me and installed Windows 7.  Thanks.

The HP 4 printer has a JetDirect card in the back of it. The JetDirect card has a 10BaseT ethernet which I connected with an ethernet cable to an airport express base station. The express unit communicates with the main airport unit in my home.
Many years ago I worked for a company that rebuilt macintosh computers and hardware for resale. I rebuilt this HP printer from spare parts and added the JetDirect card at that time and have not had any major problems with the unit until now. It had no problems or printing errors when I was running 10.4.11.
I neglected to mention that after the printer would not work with 10.5.8 I went back and tried to reinstall the optional printer driver package on the original 10.5.1 installation DVD. When this did not work either, I downloaded the HP print driver package available from their website. Could I have somehow screwed this up by installing the incorrect or uncompatible print drivers?
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.

  • Printing Envelopes Other Than #10 with HP LaserJet 4240 Envelope Feeder

I'm trying to use an HP LaserJet 4240 and an HP 75-sheet Envelope Feeder to print envelopes from FileMaker Pro. HP's specifications for the envelope feeder note that it accepts "various sizes of envelopes." However, we are unable to specify any size other than #10 envelopes in the print dialog box. #10 envelopes print just fine, but choosing a different envelope size (like C5) in Page Setup and attempting to print brings up an error message saying that only #10 envelopes can be printed and asking if the document should be scaled to fit that size envelope. If you agree and continue printing, the printer shows "Service Error" on its display.
The workaround I've used so far is to put text out to the very edge of the #10 margins in FileMaker and just load larger envelopes. This leaves too large a margin, however, and I'd really like to be able to print to the actual size of a C5 envelope.
I've tried specifying a letter sized sheet of paper and setting the paper feed to "Envelope Feeder" but the printer is smart enough to know that letter paper can't go through the feeder and asks to specify a different tray.
Has anyone succeeded in specifying a custom envelope size that will print via the envelope feeder? I don't want to have to manually feed envelopes into the printer as that's why we purchased the envelope feeder in the first place!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone can offer.

  • HP Laserjet w Envelope Feeder

    Hi there,
I have a power user who needs to print 50-100 envelopes a day. The HP Laserjet P4015 has a dedicated envelope feeder in tray #1, but we cannot seem to get that to work for more than a single envelope. The App is MS Word 2011, but the 2008 version had the same issue.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've already posted in the HP and Mactopia forums.
    Barn

This issue was a bug in the printer driver for 10.6.4. This has been escalated to Engineering/Development in HP, and they promise it to be resolved in the next update to the drivers. Case 4621417946.

  • HP LaserJet 600 M601 doesn't want to use envelope feeder

    1. HP LaserJet 600 M601
    2. Windows XP 32-bit
    3. Tries to print to different trays than envelope feeder when envelope jobs are sent to printer, eventually the envelope feeder shows up on the display and user can choose it to print.  Then prints OK.
    4. New printer.
    5. HP LaserJet 600 M601 doesn't want to use envelope feeder:
Driver is configured with correct trays and printer with paper types.
User send a print job with paper size as Envelope #10 to printer, printer prompts for envelopes to be loaded in different trays, after Tray 2, and after Tray 1 then asks user to use the Envelope Feeder, instead of the just immediately printing to the envelope Feeder.
    Tray configuration:
    Envelope Feeder:  Envelope #10, Envelope
    Tray 1:  Legal,  Plain
    Tray 2:  Letter, Any Type
    Tray 3:  Letter, Letterhead
    Hp LaserJet 600 M601 M603 PCL 6 driver version 61.114.1.10295
    Firmware:  2131305_192069

Just got off the phone with HP on the very same issue using a 602dn printer.  What ended up fixing my problem was downloading the HP Universal Print Driver ( www.hp.com/go/upd ).  You'll want the PS driver, not the PCL6 one.  When you exctract it, update your driver to the v5.4 driver.  I don't know why that would have fixed it, but it did.  Let me know if it works for you.

  • Windows Server 2008 driver for LaserJet 4100 with envelope printer

I have a new Windows 2008 Server 32 and a handful of HP printers.  I need a driver for the LaserJet 4100 with an envelope feeder.  The universal driver doesn't appear to recognize (or give an option to find) the envelope feeder.  The old drivers I used on the previous server won't install on the 2008 box.
I can;t be the only person with an envelope feeder on this machine. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
    Thanks
    Jeff

I'm afraid I'll have to refer you to the Business Support Forums for further help. They're more well-versed with Laserjet printers.

  • Can't select envelope feeder on HP LaserJet 4250tv

My office has an iMac running OS 10.6.4. Data and programs were transferred from an older iMac running OS 10.5.8.
The computer will no longer allow you to select the envelope feeder on our HP LaserJet 4250tn. If you try to print an envelope from Word or another program (InTouch With) and select the envelope feeder a message pops up that says "Changing the setting of Paper Source to Envelope Feeder would cause a conflict that cannot be resolved. No change will be made."
None of the other computers using this printer have this problem. There are two other iMacs using it, one running OS 10.5.8.
I'm unable to figure out what the conflict would be so that I can resolve the issue.
If you send the print job it tries to print from tray 1. If you remove the paper from tray 1 first the printer allows you to change the job to the envelope feeder.

I'm having this same issue with a P4015 and envelope feeder.
The printer is managed by MCX and has the envelope feeder checked in the driver tab. The print dialog lets us select the envelope feeder under the "paper feed" settings, but then the error pops up.
Anyone have a way to fix this?

  • LASERJET P2015-PROBLEMS WITH PAPER FEED

We have a HP LaserJet P2015 in the office.  When the paper reaches the halfway point, the printer makes a horrible sound and will not feed the paper.  Anybody have any suggestion?

So, I cranked up my old PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11) which has the older driver for the P2015dn and the problem remains.
I have made some progress: If I want to print with paper feed from Tray 1, I pull Tray 2 out a few inches, load the paper in Tray 1, start the print job, and the yellow Attention LED flashes indicating an error. Note that the Paper Out light does NOT come on. So I press the Go button, the Attention LED goes out, and the print job completes using the forms in Tray 1 as desired.
So I'm thinking now, What Error condition? and why does clearing it make it print?
Certainly seems like a hardware problem to me as this is NOT the way the printer is supposed to work as documenetd in the User Guide.

  • HP Laserjet p4015 auto select envelop feeder

Client machine will not automatically select envelope feeder when printing envelopes.   I have two windows 7 clients using the same driver and same versions of software printing to the same Lazerjet P4015 printer.   One selects automaticly selects the  envelope feeder  and the other client does not.  The envelope feeder is available for manual selection, but the print job is not automatically directed to the envelope feeder like on the other client machine.  I’ve tried reinstalling driver and software with no luck.   Any ideas?
Both machines are running windows 7 professional (64bt) and office 2013.

I initially called HP tech support on this issue, and was told that HP's printer drivers for Mac did not support this feature (even though the hardware was capable of it). Turns out that was BS (and the tech support guy I talked to clearly knew very little about it). HP's network printers have a built-in web server. You log-in by going by going to the IP address using Safari or your preferred browser. You can turn on and set up these options, and more, via the web-server. Easy as pie, once you know what to do.

  • Problems with envelopes in OfficeJet 5610

I used  WordPerfect mail merge to generate a file of over 100 envelopes. I have tried printing with several brands of envelopes that advertise as being suitable for inkjet printers. None of them feed reliably through my OfficeJet.  I set the paper size as "No. 10 envelope," set the printer feed to "right" to match the placement of envelopes in the tray, and moved the paper guide over to the edge of the paper.  I am feeding envelopes one at a time to reduce errors. The envelopes feed eratically. Often part of the return address runs off the edge of the paper. Sometimes the envelope twists as it feeds in, and everything comes out skewed, plus there is a wrinkle in the envelope. Sometimes the envelope just jams in the printer.  Is there anything else I can do?

I upgraded to an OfficeJet 8500. It feeds envelopes fairly reliably, although I lost the ability to print postcards, which the older printer could handle.
My new envelope problem is that the printer won't print the return address closer than 0.6 inch from the left margin. Supposedly, the printer will handle a much smaller margin. In practice, it simply doesn't print any content closer than 0.6 inch to the edge.

  • How do I use user_datastore with a feeder proc to add an mdata section?

    Hi,
I have text data spread across a number of different tables. I have created a user_datastore with a feeder procedure that creates an xml document which is then indexed into a dummy column on the parent table. This works fine. However I need to add an mdata section to the index, via my xml document. I haven't seen any examples of this being done in conjunction with the ctxsys.auto_section_group option of the create index statement, and am wondering if it is possible?
Could somebody furnish me an example of how I achieve this.
    Oracle 11.2.
    Thanks
    Ralph

You can't use MDATA with AUTO_SECTION_GROUP. AUTO means it automatically assigns zone sections for every tag it finds - if you want anything other than zone sections you must use BASIC_SECTION_GROUP, XML_SECTION_GROUP or HTML_SECTION_GROUP and manually define your sections.

  • Publishing swf file with xml feed

I am working in actionscript 3 trying to create a flash banner ad that will be put on multiple sites.  The ad will grab a rss feed and display a number from that feed insie the banner ad.  The Flash file works fine on my local computer when I test it.  The feed is showing up just fine in the ad.  When I publish the ad for the web and test it out on my server, the feed does not display in the ad.  I have checked to make sure network access is selected in the publish settings.  I also have a crossdomain.xml policy file on the server with the feed.  My server is listed in the policy to allow access.  I keep thinking I am overlooking something, but can't figure it out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Soap response with envelope

    Hi
My PI server is able to make a soap call to the SFDC ( webservice ) ...however the response that is received within PI

    how do i handle this

    Hi,
I think there is an option while configuration of SOAP adapter, where you can define, not to keep SOAP envelop. Please check the option Conversion Parameters\Do Not Use SOAP Envelope and set it as per your requirement. That might solve the problem. Here is the link which can be helpful

  • Problem with RSS feeds in AppleMail

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I have several RSS feeds that come in through AppleMail. Every so often, it stops receiving all of the feeds (I get an explanation point next to the the RSS header). After a day or so, it will start receiving feeds again. I have no problem getting e-mails... just my RSS feeds. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

I have just experienced the same problem with RSS feeds through AppleMail. A couple of days ago (just after I had upgraded to Aperture 3 - not sure if that's relevant) the exclamation mark appeared next to all the Mailboxes for my RSS feeds, and has not disappeared. If I click on the exclamation mark I get the message "there was an error updating the RSS feed 'Apple Hot News'. The RSS feed is temporarily unavailable because an internal error occurred".
I have tried shutting down, and deleting the RSS plist - with no effect.
Other details - the problem exists on a MacBook Pro, running Sno (v 10.6.2 - all updates applied) and Apple Mail v4.2. I can send / receive regular email. I also have an iMac (also running Sno 10.6.2 and Apple Mail v4.2) - RSS feeds work fine on this machine. Both machines use the same wireless broadband router.
    Grateful for any help. Thanks
