HP LaserJet 4000- having memory error...NOT printing.

I am using Windows XP Professional, IE8. Having issues with printing forms, printer used to print the forms perfectly.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Go to the Printers folder, right click on the 4000, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options and under Installed Memory make sure the correct memory for your printer is selected. (If you do not know the installed memory it can be found by printing a test page from the printer front panel.)

HP Laserjet 4100 on network will not print

Since I’ve installed Snow Leopard, I have not been able to print with my HP Laserjet 4100.
My set-up: new 24” iMac, many hard drives and more. Two devices: HP Color Laserjet 5550 and HP Officejet J5750 are connected to the iMac through a USB Hub. Although initially scanning did not work with the J5750, I was able to make that work once additional drivers were downloaded from HP. Both work fine.
I also have an older HP Laserjet 4100 which has been my steady workhorse for years. It only has Ethernet and serial port outlets. It is connected to an AT&T 2-Wired Ethernet Hub/DSL Modem (model 2701HG-B) that is connected to the iMac.
I’ve contacted HP and Apple about this problem. None of the three people I worked with at Apple could help and the HP representative was unsure if they could help but that it would cost me $40 to find out. According to HP website, since Apple Talk no longer exists, we are required to input the IP for the device. For the 4100, the IP address is 10.0.1.100. I tried this two ways: in the “Add Printer” window under “IP,” inputted as the IPP, and inputted as the HP Jetdirect Socket (as per the HP instructions). When this is done, the printer shows up when you give a print command. However, it does not show up in the “Add Printer” window under “default” or anywhere else.
Status: If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable directly to the back of the iMac, the “Supply” level indicates the true level of toner in the 4100. However, it will not print. If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet hub, the supply level does not show nor can I print.
Any suggestions?

I am struggling with the same problem. I have two HP 4100dtn printers on ethernet. Each has a manually assigned IP address. I can set up the printer(s) just fine in the Print & Fax Preference and Snow Leopard finds the printer just fine when I enter the IP address and chooses the correct HP Driver.
When I try to print, my print job appears in the queue as expected, than an error appears that something about a "bad command". Sorry, I'm home right now and don't have direct access to the printer so I can't give you the precise language of the message, but the gist of the message is that the system tried to connect to the printer to send the print data but the printer does not know how to respond to the command that was sent.
It's as if the firmware in the 4100 just doesn't have something in it's lexicon that Snow Leopard needs. The HP web site is no help. One page I found says the printer is supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01664444&jumpid=regR1002USEN ) and another page I found says that it is not supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01879014&jumpid=regR1002USEN). The HP on line chat won't let me log in and hold a chat with HP unless I know the Serial Number of the printer, which I don't have here at home.

Please identify your HP printer. Post the p/n from the barcoded sticker on the rear/side of printer.

Script error not printed with WHENEVER OSERROR EXIT

Hi!
I run a script with SQL*Plus and noticed, that the script does not stop on an error like this:
SP2-0310: unable to open file "../../some_script.sql"
I added a line of:
WHENEVER OSERROR EXIT
And then it exits on error, but now the error message is not printed.
So it looks like the script was finished successfully.
Is there a way to get both?
The error message and a stop to the script execution?

Out of Memory Error while printing to PDF

I am using Apache FOP with OC4J on windows platform for printing to PDF. I got the following error when printing a report with about 10,500 records to PDF.
07/09/20 15:23:07.78 fop: Servlet error
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Is there a way out of this problem. Could anyone please give me some suggestions?

You can try adding a -Xmx128M (or larger) when you run the java command to start oc4j.jar

Out of Memory Error - not a RAM issue

I'm using Flash 8 and am getting an out of memory error
simply trying to copy and paste text in Flash. The error tells me
to allocate more memory to flash by getting info on the app in the
finder. This seems strange to me because I thought this was an OS9
function (I'm running OSx 10.4.9). When I get info, there is
actually a twirl down menu for Memory, but everything is grayed out
so I can't change it (it's currently set to 512kb). I don't have
Flash open at the time.
Does anyone know what might be going on?

The application is downloaded from a server Tomcat and launched by Java Web start.
The settings of the JVM are :
<j2se version="1.6.0.4+" java-vm-args="-Xms20m -Xmx256m -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=30 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=50" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se" />
So the heap can increase up to 256 Mbytes, which I think is sufficient for the application.
Sometimes the test scenario, which sends the same messages periodically without ending, doesn't cause any problem to the application : the amount of heap it uses remains stable. The application seems to be able to run indefinitely (I let it run for a week without stop).
Sometimes, with the same scenario, after a few runtime hours, the amount of heap used by the application increases suddenly (in a lapse of 2 or 3 minutes). The GC throws an OOM error and the application freezes. The only solution is to re-launch it.
The behavior of the JVM and the GC is beyond understanding to me.
Should I change the tuning parameters of the JVM ?
Would it be a solution to set the Xms and Xmx parameters to the same value, for example 246 MBytes.
Are there other parameters of the JVM that could improve the running of the application ?

Out of Memory Error when printing

I'm stumped and need help. I've been creating a "roster" of our employees in InDesign CS5.5. I've got approximately 16 photos per page, and only have 2 pages in the document so far. I have created an InDesign file that is kind of a photo frame image that has some gradients and drop shadows applied to it. When I place this InDesign file on the master page 16 times so that it appears over each image, I am unable to print the files, as I get an "error due to an out of memory condition". (I can print when the 16 instances of the photo frame image is taken out, and I can print when there is only one instance of the photo frame image in it). I'm assuming it has something to do with InDesign having to apply/redraw the effects/gradients to each and every instance of the "photo frame image." Is there something that I'm missing, like a way of placing multiple instances of a file so that it doesn't have to redraw each and every one? The graphic frame image that I haven't isn't anything too complex by any means, and I don't see why InDesign shouldn't be able to handle this.

I had the same problem a few days ago. My problem was caused by a hoard of vector images on the same page (flattening that page drove my fairly optimized PC crazy).
I solved the issue by opening the vector file in Photoshop, duplicating the layer with the image I wanted into an 8.5 x 11 spread, merging all layers when I was finished, and saving that spread as a .PSD (with maximize compatibility checked). Then I placed the .PSD into InDesign. This isn't perfect, I know, but the images look almost the same at zooms of up to 150% and printing / exporting takes a fraction of the time, not to mention my printed .PDF is 3 mb smaller.
I guess what I'm saying is:
1. You could put all 16 frames from 1 page in 1 file
2. You could save that file as a .PSD to retain a nice size/quality ratio

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw will not print anything except its own config

Just purchased a HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw. I cannot manage to get it to print using any type of connection to the printer.
I can connect to the printer from my Ubuntu PC and my Android phone, but when I attempt to print, the job just hangs, never erroring, but never completing. I have attempted printing from various applications, including a test page from the HPLIP tools, but the jobs reports "processing".
When I attempt to print an information sheet from the printer's front panel, it asks me to confirm, but then nothing happens.
I can connect to the printer's web server, but clicking on the print info button there does nothing.
I have successfully connected with HP's ePrint service using the printer's reported email address, but the service reports "problem with printer".
I don't know what else to try here.

I see that you are having issues printing from the computer and the Android phone.
I will be happy to help you.
Power cycle the computer and the router.
I would do a power reset on the printer. With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer. Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet. Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
Print a hardware self test. Find out what the IP address is.

I see by your post that you are only getting blue output.
I can help you with this issue.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, toner or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
I have provided a document to go through the steps to see if it will help resolve this issue.

HP LaserJet 400 MFP M425dn does not print 1/4" of the page when using the feeder

When using the feeder to make a copy I lose about 1/4" of my copy along one side.
We copy a lot of full page sheets with little or no margins.
Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Most (if not all) commonly available laser printers have 'unprintable margins' on each edge.
On most LaserJet printers, these margins are about 4 mm (0.167"), although on some devices I believe that smaller unprintable area margins (of about 2 mm) can be selected when printing (although possibly not when copying).
When printing with PCL5 drivers, there is also the minimum logical page margin to be taken into account - this is about 6 mm (0.24") by default, although the printing options mentioned above (on some models) can reduce this slightly.

New HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP Will Not Print Over Network

We have a new HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP. I've assigned it an IP address, static, and it pulls up on it's web interface. I loaded the printer for network printing on our Small Business Server 2003 and installed it on several PCs. No matter what we do, it will not accept a print job, even the test page. Nothing sent to it will print. I've checked print spoolers, drivers, etc. Nothing seems out of place. Any suggestions?

I have had this printer and this ipad and also an iPhone 4s for several years and they worked well together. About six months ago the HP bricked itself overnight with some kind of firmware update that was sent automatically by HP. I tried to fix it, gave up for a while since we had another printer, then last week finally reinstalled the printer software from scratch and got the printer to work again.
It works wirelessly with our three computers (as it always did) but I have not been able to get my ipad and iPhone to reconnect with it as before. When I want to print from email or a web page, it does not see the printer at all. I have tried turning the wifi off and on, and also restarting, but no joy.
Here's the weird thing: I have two coupon printing apps on the ipad and the iPhone and they resumed printing to the HP right away. The apps see the printer just fine.
If nothing worked it would make more sense. I just can't figure out why the native iOS system doesn't see the printer yet the apps do.

Just an update
I did the firmware update still no luck.
I can not figure out how to tell the printer what the SSID address it should be looking for . I can not ping the printers IP address since it is not on the network and the HP software does not seem to let me direct the printer to my SSID
It can not really be this hard - can it??? I am using an airport express as my wireless router.

Find smartform error - not printing from transaction

I have a little problem with a smartform .. that I don't know which is .. this because when I try the print from SMARTFORMS transaction, it works, for some data works correctly and for some other data, the print is not shown. I think there is an error in that case (functional guys told me it's mine problem) but I don't know ho w to get the error message that occurred. can anybody help me please?
I tried to search the forum before posting, because I think there should be a way for analyzing this kind of error, but probably I used wrong words, because I cannot find anything .. so sorry if the question has already been asked and answered (I hope)

Hi Gabriele,
It is hard to give an answer which solves your problem.
In most cases as the smartform sometimes with different forms the cause is that 1 or more fields are overfilled.
Like a too long variable in a to small field.
You must try to find out in which part of the smartform the problem occurs. One of the ways to do that is to shriinken the output part by part (with (output-)conditions) until you get a printed output. Then the problem is in the lastpart you have out-conditioned.
I know it is not an easy job but for error finding iin smartforms is hard.
