Hp laserjet 4600 paper issue!!!!

Hi, the issue that i have with this printer is that sometimes i gives three to four extra blank pages everytime someone prints in it, i checked the paper tray 2 (where the printer feeds from) and i noticed that one of the paper holders on the tray was not holding anything causing the extra paper to come out, what i did was to place it the way it was and worked fine but here comes my question, since this printer is not supported by HP anymore is there anyway to give a permanent  solution to this because it has happened not really often but lets say every two weeks.

Sorry, I don't see any real permanent solution here short of replacing the tray.

  • HP Laserjet 4600 dn, Jetdirect 615n

    Hi everybody,
I have problem with printing pdf files (for example 2 sheet), or jpg files on HP Laserjet 4600 dn. Everytime I recive a message "82.0180 eio 2 error". I was changed jetdirect slot, and everything was working fine 2 months. Now, that problem is back.
Printer prints Word files (without any picture, only text) OK.

    Hi @Mladen
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.

  • LaserJet 4600 will not print black

My LaserJet 4600 has only 12-13,000 pages on it and will not print black ink. Magenta, cyan, and yellow print fine. The black cartridge works in my other 4600, and I've also tried the magenta in the black slot-- it will not print in that slot either...... Appears to me to be a hardware issue..... Any suggestions as to what the problem is, and is it something that I can fix? Or is it a job for a repair shop?........... Another aspect is-- is it cost prohibitive to fix?.. Thanks......................

    Good day,

  • Solved! All-in-Ones Misalignment on Costco or Heavy Photo Paper Issue

Hi, after much frustration, I finally came upon a solution to the issue of misalignment when printing heavy (Costco or HP Premium) photo papers. My printer is networked and connected via the router. This fix will probably work with other All-in-Ones as well. (I haven't tried this on business cards yet but will post back when I do). By the way, I'm using Windows 7. This is a very wordy post in order to get all the steps and make it easier to follow. Here goes.
Devices and Printers/Add Printer - this is so your original printer file does not get damaged. Also you might want to create a Restore Point.
Before adding your new printer, check under Devices and Printers/right-click current working printer/Printer Properties (not "Properties")/Ports/. Make note of the port that is current being used and working. You will use this same port on the newly added printer.
Device and Printers/Add Printer/Add Local printer/Under Use Existing Port hold down the arrow at right and select the working port you made note of in step 2.
Select HP on the left/HP OfficeJet 6500 709a on the far right (this is a generic printer driver specially made to fix printer issues like this)/Next/Do not share this printer/Next.
Do a test print on plain paper at the end of install.
    Now to print your photo:
Clean the printer rollers(I cleaned the ones on the back door where you clear a jam) with an electronic cleaning wipe (maybe alcohol and paper towel will work, too). This is because I think the printer has a hard time picking up the heavier glossy paper after some years of collecting soil and dust on the rollers so it slips - just my theory.
Select the photo/s you want to print. (I was trying to print a simple photo index/contact sheet. 8.5"x11" using Costco paper. The contact sheet in Explorer is located as you scroll down the options on the side). I was printing directly from Windows Explorer window in the folder where the image was located.)
    Print/Select the new printer you just added/paper size 8.5x11/HP Premium Photo Paper/Fit to Picture Frame/Options/Features tab/Borderless unchecked/OK/Print
Result - a beautiful print like the kind HP is known for. Now, whenever you need to print something on heavy photo paper just select this printer. When finished, go back to your default printer.
It is my sincere wishes that this helps somebody who has been as frustrated as I have been not getting this feature to work. Now onto the business cards solution...

    Thank you for  the information.
Does anyone really think that HP or Avery will print this work around in their documentation?
Does HP OfficeJet 6500 709a printer exist on all software editions from HP? And how did YOU know that "this is a generic printer driver specially made to fix printer issues like this"? No one else figured that one out- who told  you?
"Clean the printer rollers(I cleaned the ones on the back door where you clear a jam) with an electronic cleaning wipe (maybe alcohol and paper towel will work, too). This is because I think the printer has a hard time picking up the heavier glossy paper after some years of collecting soil and dust on the rollers so it slips - just my theory." Problem: people have had the HP business card printing problem with brand new printers- certaintly without years of soil or dust on the rollers.
How should a user, unfamilar with those gyrations you described above, go about using the printer?  The basic issue is that these printers DO NOT work for Avery and other business cards unless you know how to do the actions described.
"The sheet stock business card printing problem you are having is a well documented process or product defect that newer HP printers seem to have.  Others have said that older HP printers did not have this problem.  I echo that experience also.  There are multiple questions on these forums with various answers (revert to older printer drivers, change paper type chosen in printer setup, change brand of card paper) but the end all is that HP printers or all in ones cannot print Avery business card sheet stock with any type of repeatability or consistency due to the wandering margin issue. It is unknown whether this is a software or hardware issue or or paper issue or combination of these."
The best solution seems to be to consider a printer that feeds almost straight through versus up and around. If HP has this type of printer you could consider it. Otherwise there are alternative printer brands that feed straight through that may be better for printing sheet stock business cards.

  • Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • HP color laserjet 4600 parallel port is wierd need help to identify

Hi I have a laserjet 4600 and it has a wierd looking parallel port and I can't seem to find out the name for it so I can buy it online. I have tried looking for it online but the only thing that comes up is the IEEE 1284 36 pin parallel port. Can anyone help me identify this port so I can connect it to my computer?
    Thanks

I am running windows 7 64 bit trying to connect to a HP color laser jet 4600. We have tried multiple times to get a Notebook to load the driver. Everything works and asks to print a test page. When you press print test page nothing happens and nothing will print.
This is a working printer. It is presently hooked to a network and it works from it. I am trying to make it work from my notebook. I am using a ethernet cable wired directly to the Jetdirict card.
Do I need to set up a network. I know the IP of the printer and can not access it from the Notebook.
This should work for you.  I've installed several printers using a Jet Direct this way:
Install the printer manually.  Go into Devices and Printers -> Click "Add a printer" then select "add a local printer" and select the option for "Create a new port - Standard TCP/IP Port" and click next.  Type the IP address of the printer into the Hostname/IP Address field then click "next" -  Choose Hewlett Packard Jet Direct from the Standard drop down menu then click next.  You will need to select your printer model/driver from the list and then click next.

  • HP Laserjet 1010 paper jam issue

I know this is not specifically an Apple problem, but I have spent days searching for a solution elsewhere with no luck, so I was wondering if anyone here could help?
My HP LaserJet 1010 had some issues with printed pages not coming right through - they jammed right at the last minute when most of the page was out.
After carefully removing the sheet, the paper jam light is constantly flashing, despite there being no paper in sight. No amount of resetting, cleaning etc has any effect. Neither do the rollers move any more when it is switched on, as they are supposed to.
When I try to print, the driver program gives the error:
"Printer Error: The printer needs attention"
Any ideas for how to solve this would be much appreciated.

Chances are the printer has a small bit of paper that is still jammed in it. When paper jams always try to pull in the direction of the paper path! If it tears then remove the toner cartridge to see if you can see any bits of paper inside. I have the Laserjet 1012 which is a similar design, early in it's life I had a similar issue, after removing the toner cartridge and seeing all bits of paper were gone I still got an error. I then removed the top cover of the printer, located and removed the offending piece of paper, put it back together and now several thousands of pages later all is fine.
If that doesn't work then contact HP's support (they will reply to an email with 24 hours) or go the chat route. If you try to call because you are well out of warranty there will be charge.

  • HP Laserjet 2200dtn paper select issue

I have an HP Laserjet 2200dtn connected via jet direct with a direct ip. I can print to the device with one issue. All print jobs using the "Automatically Select" option for paper tray go to the manual tray and require me to tell the printer to continue. Prior to Snow Leopard the driver would go to the first available paper feed drawer (if paper was in manual it would go there, otherwise it went to either tray 2 or tray 3 on its on). Any Ideas? I would rather the printer automatically select tray 3 to print from and have me manually select tray 1 when I need it.
    Thanks.

  • LaserJet 2100 Paper Feed Issue

Our company has an HP LaserJet 2100 printer. The problem is every 10 pages or so, the paper will feed through crooked causing the print to be off center and the edge to become crinkled. I replaced the paper with a different ream and a different stock, verified there is no paper bits in the path by completely removing the Registration Assembly, etc. and cleaning the paper path.
My question is could this be due to the rollers? I would just go ahead and replace them but it is quite a process to obtain replacement parts and if this doesn't fix it, I have wasted a lot of peoples' time and money. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

I am having the exact same issue. Did u ever get this figured out?

  • HP LaserJet P1102w -- Paper Creasing

I just purchased a new HP Laserjet P1102w printer this afternoon. After setup it prints fast and nice clear pages, but I noticed something strange. It makes creases in the paper. It's not really noticable, but if I hold a printout up and tip it in the light, it is making a small indentation in the paper that goes from 3/4ths of the way in from the right side and 3/4ths of the way in from the left side and from the top to the bottom of the page.
My guess was that due to the speed of the printing, my multi-purpose paper wasn't sufficient. I'm using basic OfficeMax/Office Depot 20lb 96bright multi-purpose paper. It's rated for Laserjet & Inkjet according to the package. I tried both the Office Max & Office Depot, same thing.
I checked the paper path and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I did notice at the top of the printer where the paper comes out after printing, there was a visible gob of what looked like roller lubricant/grease. I'm not sure if that was an issue but I took a cotton swap and wiped it away.
Is this a common problem with this model or did I choose a bad type of paper? I was using a Brother laser printer which handled multi-purpose paper just fine, but did not print as fast as this one.

I have the same problem on a brand new P1102w. There are 2 creases about 3 inches apart running the length of the paper vertically. I have done an internet search and have come up with no real solutions. Several places mentioned moisture in the paper being a common cause of this sort of creasing and recommend trying paper fresh out of an unopened package. I haven't tried that yet, but will do so today and post the results.  Ryanflucas and Danoid, if you find a solution, please post it back here!  I am wondering if this creasing might go away after printing 20 or 30 pages as my impression is that paper rollers (the creases line up exactly with rollers where the paper exits the printer) are causing the problem and use might 'break them in and loosen them up". That's probably wishful thinking though.
*Update*  Tried using the fresh paper, as discussed above. Creases still occurred but were much less pronounced. Next I will try printing a 30 or 40 page document and see what effect, if any, a little heavier use has.
*Update* Feb. 17.  I have printed 30 to 40 pages from the printer and now see no creases in the paper. It does seem that there is something to the 'breaking it in" notion. Who knows. The problem has gone away with use, that's all I can say.

  • Laserjet 1018 paper feed problem - started suddenly and now wrinkles paper but does not feed it in

This HP Laserjet 1018 is 4 years old, has worked flawlessly.  But a day or two ago it fed a sheet of paper, there was a ripping sound, and the paper emerged, printed, but with a 1/4" wide, 5" long missing bit near the bottom, running the long way of the paper.  I found and removed the crinkled up torn strip of paper, and have restarted this printer numerous times.  Since that incident, it refuses to feed paper correctly, but bunches it up and wrinkles it a bit from the left to right and does not feed it in.  Thus, won't work.  I can't see any broken parts or anything stuck inside -- and taking this printer apart is v. complicated -- no easy panel to remove to see the feed mechanism.   I'm doubtful I can take it apart enough, and still get it back together.  I've cleaned the feed roller (small half-round gray rubber thing) and it does not seem to be the problem.
    Questions:
    a) anyone experienced, and solved this problem?
    b) is it worth trying to send this for repair (I got it on special for $69, and the replacement equivalent now appears to be the HP P1102w, which is selling via Amazon for $94.99
