HP Laserjet 6L paper feed

For some reason, the paper has started coming out the bottom front of the printer, rather than following the normal path to the top front bin. I've wiped down everything I can reach inside the unit with alcohol. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Hi,
The HP Laserjet 6L has a switch to the left of the slot where your paper is coming out.  The switch must be in the UP position to direct the paper output to the upper collection chute.

  • Laserjet 1018 paper feed problem - started suddenly and now wrinkles paper but does not feed it in

This HP Laserjet 1018 is 4 years old, has worked flawlessly.  But a day or two ago it fed a sheet of paper, there was a ripping sound, and the paper emerged, printed, but with a 1/4" wide, 5" long missing bit near the bottom, running the long way of the paper.  I found and removed the crinkled up torn strip of paper, and have restarted this printer numerous times.  Since that incident, it refuses to feed paper correctly, but bunches it up and wrinkles it a bit from the left to right and does not feed it in.  Thus, won't work.  I can't see any broken parts or anything stuck inside -- and taking this printer apart is v. complicated -- no easy panel to remove to see the feed mechanism.   I'm doubtful I can take it apart enough, and still get it back together.  I've cleaned the feed roller (small half-round gray rubber thing) and it does not seem to be the problem.
    Questions:
    a) anyone experienced, and solved this problem?
    b) is it worth trying to send this for repair (I got it on special for $69, and the replacement equivalent now appears to be the HP P1102w, which is selling via Amazon for $94.99
    Thanks

  • LaserJet 2100 paper feed

I am trying to get my LaserJet 2100 up and running after several years of no use.  Everything is looking "ok" except the paper feed.  After I print a page and it is discharged into the tray, a second sheet is fed about halfway and stops.  Then when I try to print another page I get a paper jam signal.  Paper size on my page set up is 8 1/2 x 11.  I have tried both of the drivers that are listed on the HP site.  I am running XP on a Dell Inspiron 6000 lap top.  It only has USB ports for printing, so am using an adapter to interface with the printer.  It is set up to run through a virtual printer port via USB.
    What to Do?

I have experienced this on some other devices, so I will share the following ideas:
First, by your description, this appears to be a hardware problem rather than anything to do with connectivity although you mentioned it. Specifically, the paper feed mechanism which relies on friction feed to pick up the paper. It is picking up more sheets at once than it should. The top sheet gets pushed off, but due to extra friction from the paper pickup roller, a second sheet also gets pushed out of the tray, but lags behind the first sheet and only partially makes it way though the paper path.
Due to the "several years of no use" as you mentioned, it is possible the rubber on the paper pickup roller has dried out over time and become a harder material. That could affect the amount of friction and how it contacts with the paper for paper pickup.
Here is a test you can run:
Try varying the amount of sheets you have in the tray. The tray is spring loaded, so it contains a spring which pushes the paper up against the pickup roller. Often the amount of paper you have in tray will affect how much that spring is enguaged, and this will affect the friction against the paper pickup roller. Try changing the amount of sheets you have in the tray.
If that test does not show any improvement, try using a different paper or replacing the paper pickup roller.
    Just some ideas...

  • LaserJet 2100 Paper Feed Issue

Our company has an HP LaserJet 2100 printer. The problem is every 10 pages or so, the paper will feed through crooked causing the print to be off center and the edge to become crinkled. I replaced the paper with a different ream and a different stock, verified there is no paper bits in the path by completely removing the Registration Assembly, etc. and cleaning the paper path.
My question is could this be due to the rollers? I would just go ahead and replace them but it is quite a process to obtain replacement parts and if this doesn't fix it, I have wasted a lot of peoples' time and money. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

I am having the exact same issue. Did u ever get this figured out?

  • LaserJet 4L paper feed jams.

As the LaserJet 4L picks up the paper from the paper tray, it jams.  It has done this before and I have been able to fix it by  opening the drawer and  turning the wheel behind the black plastic rectangular thing on the far left and "messing" with the "rubberized" thing just to the right that seems to pick up the paper.
After attempting to fix it, the printer will usually print one page and then jam on the next page.
Love the printer, don't want to put it out to pasture.

Mine was picking up the paper then jamming just as it passed the main feed wheel. Ussually the first page would print but then the second page would stop right as the paper started passing under the smoked plastic sheild on top.  Finally fixed it by taking things appart and cleaning the two solenoids that control the feed events. One solenoid controls the D wheel that pickups up the paper - you can see the little metal lever against the D wheel when the paper tray is removed - the other is hidden inside the main roller assembly. Both the solenoids used some type of bumper tape (to stop the metal to metal clicking) that has deteriorated and left a sticky adhesive behind. This sticking is what throws off the timing and causes the jam. This adhesive need to be cleaned off and the machine should run again as new. I've had my 4L for 20 years, and hated to throw it out, it otherwise still prints great and the toner can be had cheap. Just fixed mine and it once again running perfect. Now I'm interested to see just how long I can keep this workhorse going. kudos to the old HP.
I took a bunch of pictures of the disasembly process if anyone is interested. Tricky at first, but only took 5 minutes the second time. (I only found the one solenoid the first time and had to go back in for the second)

  • Hp laserjet 1536 paper feeding crooked

although the paper is flat & straight in the printer tray, as it pulls the paper into the printer, it pulls it in crooked.

    Hi @kksomerset ,
I see that you are experiencing issues with skewed printing. I would like to help you out today.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Make sure that the media is loaded correctly and the media guides are not too tight or too loose against the media stack.
The input bin might be too full.
Check the media type and quality in the print driver settings.
    Reseat the toner.
Try printing a hardware self test to see if the printing is also skewed. This way we will know if it is a hardware or software issue. Printing a Configuration Report.
I have provided a document for checking the print settings, running a cleaning and the recommended paper specifications. Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
What kind of paper are you using and what is the weight of the paper?
Try a different type and weight of paper to see if you have the same results.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • HP LaserJet P2015 Tray 1 paper feed

My HP LaserJet P2015dn printer has been my workhorse printer since new, especially for printing checks, envelopes, forms from paper Tray 1. I always print using the Auto Select for paper feed, so that if there are checks/envelopes in Tray 1, they will be selected. For the past 6 weeks or so, the printer will not feed from Tray 1 on demand, that is will not pick paper from Tray 1 if Auto Select is enabled as I have used it in the past.
Printer will pick from Tray 1 IF Tray 1 is specifically selected OR Tray 2 has no paper or is removed. I doubt I can retrain myself to do either of these things as work arounds.
Stupidly, I paid a $50 bench fee for a technician to tell me the printer is mechanically working as it should. On further investigation, I have determined that the HP print drivers is use seem to have been installed on July 10, 2008 (about the time this issue started AFAIK) from a combined installer HPLaserJetP2015andColorLaserJet2605_2700.dmg which I installed for my Color LaserJet 2605dn printer.
I still have the prior LJP2015OSXfullsol.dmg on my hard disk, but reinstalling same does not seem to replace the new driver with the old.
So, is there any way to get rid of the the newer print software OR overlay the older on the newer? Other suggestions?

So, I cranked up my old PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11) which has the older driver for the P2015dn and the problem remains.
I have made some progress: If I want to print with paper feed from Tray 1, I pull Tray 2 out a few inches, load the paper in Tray 1, start the print job, and the yellow Attention LED flashes indicating an error. Note that the Paper Out light does NOT come on. So I press the Go button, the Attention LED goes out, and the print job completes using the forms in Tray 1 as desired.
So I'm thinking now, What Error condition? and why does clearing it make it print?
Certainly seems like a hardware problem to me as this is NOT the way the printer is supposed to work as documenetd in the User Guide.

  • LASERJET P2015-PROBLEMS WITH PAPER FEED

We have a HP LaserJet P2015 in the office.  When the paper reaches the halfway point, the printer makes a horrible sound and will not feed the paper.  Anybody have any suggestion?

  • HP Laserjet 2200dtn paper select issue

I have an HP Laserjet 2200dtn connected via jet direct with a direct ip. I can print to the device with one issue. All print jobs using the "Automatically Select" option for paper tray go to the manual tray and require me to tell the printer to continue. Prior to Snow Leopard the driver would go to the first available paper feed drawer (if paper was in manual it would go there, otherwise it went to either tray 2 or tray 3 on its on). Any Ideas? I would rather the printer automatically select tray 3 to print from and have me manually select tray 1 when I need it.
    Thanks.

Chances are the printer has a small bit of paper that is still jammed in it. When paper jams always try to pull in the direction of the paper path! If it tears then remove the toner cartridge to see if you can see any bits of paper inside. I have the Laserjet 1012 which is a similar design, early in it's life I had a similar issue, after removing the toner cartridge and seeing all bits of paper were gone I still got an error. I then removed the top cover of the printer, located and removed the offending piece of paper, put it back together and now several thousands of pages later all is fine.
If that doesn't work then contact HP's support (they will reply to an email with 24 hours) or go the chat route. If you try to call because you are well out of warranty there will be charge.

  • Printing Envelopes Other Than #10 with HP LaserJet 4240 Envelope Feeder

I'm trying to use an HP LaserJet 4240 and an HP 75-sheet Envelope Feeder to print envelopes from FileMaker Pro. HP's specifications for the envelope feeder note that it accepts "various sizes of envelopes." However, we are unable to specify any size other than #10 envelopes in the print dialog box. #10 envelopes print just fine, but choosing a different envelope size (like C5) in Page Setup and attempting to print brings up an error message saying that only #10 envelopes can be printed and asking if the document should be scaled to fit that size envelope. If you agree and continue printing, the printer shows "Service Error" on its display.
The workaround I've used so far is to put text out to the very edge of the #10 margins in FileMaker and just load larger envelopes. This leaves too large a margin, however, and I'd really like to be able to print to the actual size of a C5 envelope.
I've tried specifying a letter sized sheet of paper and setting the paper feed to "Envelope Feeder" but the printer is smart enough to know that letter paper can't go through the feeder and asks to specify a different tray.
Has anyone succeeded in specifying a custom envelope size that will print via the envelope feeder? I don't want to have to manually feed envelopes into the printer as that's why we purchased the envelope feeder in the first place!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone can offer.

  • Paper feeder problem - M1536dnf MFP

Please help - I have an HP laserjet pro M1536dnf MFP.  The paper feeder is not taking in any paper.  When I press print, I hear the wheels spinning for 1/2 second and then I get an error message saying "Document Feeder Mispick. Reload".  All else works fine.  Thanks!

Make sure ADF paper guides are adjusted properly.
Please make sure that the paper is pushed inside properly. Customer should be able to see the message as “document loaded”.
Clean the ADF Roller & separator pads manually
Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with clean water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off of the rollers and the separator pad.
Make sure if the ADF cover is closed properly.
Do a power drain on the printer(Unplug the power cable and wait for 3 mins and then turn it back again)

  • LaserJet 1100 paper out indicator

My Laserjet 1100 refuses to recognize that there is paper in the paper feed slot. This means that I cannot use it to print. There used to be a kit that could be used to fix this, but HP seems to have stopped making it available. Is there another solution, or another source for the kit? Except for that problem, the LJ 1100 has been a great workhorse for me.

    Hello,
A couple of possibilities come to mind......
    1) Sometimes, restarting the product can clear a paper feed issue. Follow these steps to perform a reset.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
With the product turned on , disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button ( ) to turn it on.
Then:  On the product control panel, press and hold e Resume button ( ) for 2 to 3 seconds.
    Best of Luck!!

  • HP Envy 4500 - issues with paper feeding on intial setup

I just bought this HP Envy 4500 this afternoon and I need to use it asap.  Upon initial set up (before any wireless connections), I am stuck at the paper feed needed in order to print the test page. I loaded plain white paper but it still tells me to load the paper.  It sounds like it's preparing to print but then the paper does not feed, it never pulls the paper in.  I have used 3 varying stacks of paper to try to get it to pull and nothing.
    Please help.  TIA

    Hi @Loopster2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are setting up your HP Envy 4500, but it is not recognizing the paper, so it keeps asking you to load the paper.
Please make sure the Paper Tray is pushed all the way back, alot of the times if you are getting this error it is because the paper tray isn't installed properly.

  • Paper feed out of sync on HP PSC 1510 All-in-One Printer Scanner

Paper feed out of sync on HP PSC 1510 All-in-One(SN MY59SD224W0498). Goes to flashing orange light. With Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. USB connection to HP Pavilion GU658AA-ABU a6250.uk .
After cleaning ink drip tray including removing & refitting the small panel in the base towards the rear RHS of the  printer and also Super Glueing a small wedge of timber to close split shaft bearing for rear print feed rollers - looking from rear with clean out door removed this is at the LHS where the cogs are - paper feed is out of sync. When turned on with paper in feed tray printer draws in paper until about 2" (5cm) of paper protrudes from delivery slot & then stops. Paper jam is indicated by flashing orange light. On pressing Cancel/Resume, paper is expelled & another sheet taken in with the same results. Have turned off & restarted. Have moved cartridge cleaner tray right from front to rear & tested & then brought it right forward again & tested. Have turned off & unplugged power & USB & restarted after more than 30 minutes. Have uninstalled driver & downloaded & installed anew. Downloaded & ran the HP Print Diagnostic Utility. All to no avail. Any suggestions anyone?
