HP Laserjet CP1025nw keeps disconnecting from wireless network

I just purchased this printer yesterday and have had no luck getting the wireless network connection to stay connected for longer than a few minutes.  Currently it's connected to my cisco router via ethernet and works great connected that way.  I can AirPrint from all my IOS devices and from my Macbook Air and Windows 7 laptop.
I am able to get the printer to work on wireless for a short period of time - roughly 10 minutes or so.  I have sent test prints from my IOS devices as well but eventually the blue wireless light on the printer begins flashing and that means it has lost it's connection.  Restarting the router and printer will get the wireless back online for a few minutes and the problem comes back.  I read somewhere that power cycling is a "solution" but I don't agree.
Now, I suppose I could leave it plugged via ethernet cord, but I specifically bought this printer for it's wireless printing capability and would have liked the option of moving it to another location away from my router if need be.  It should work as advertised in my opinion without having to reset/power cycle anything on a regular basis.
My dad bought the same printer as it was on sale.  He has asked me to set it up but hopefully he hasn't opened his box yet.  I know he is hoping to use the wireless function due to the spreadout floorplan of his home office.
I have updated the firmware on the printer (and router) to the latest version and set a static IP address as well.  DHCP yielded the same results.  Following some advice on this forum I have even disabled SNMP though I don't think that would be the problem.
Any thoughts?  Is HP even planning on providing future support in the form of firmware updates now that the printer is a pretty much a clearance item?

Hi hp_ik
I understand the printer keeps losing the network connection.
I will be happy to assist you with this.
I have provided a document for the printer not maintaining a wireless connection.
I would setup the static IP for the printer to see if this will resolve the issue.
It may not be the printer, it may be your router's inability to wake the printer.
What router are you using?
Can you get into its settings?
If you can then look for and enable "Multicasting".
If not you will have to contact the router company.
Disconnect the routers power cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable. Wait till it's ready.
As a troubleshooting step, try connecting the printer to the router via an Ethernet cable (cat5). This is just to find out if the printer and the router are having problems communicating via wireless.
If you need more assistance just let me know.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer keeps disconnecting from my network.

My HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer keeps disconnecting from my network. I have tried disconnecting my Firewall and AVG virus software, all to no avail. Can anyone help?

This is an issue I have seen multiple times, and telling people to check their network settings, or to fix wireless settings does NOT address the root cause of the problem.   For those who are English-impared, here is a very clear explanation of what is going on:
The printer is REMOVED from devices and printers, seemingly at random.    This is NOT a problem with "The printer is not printing", where fixing the network or resetting IP addresses will fix it.   The printer is GONE, and needs to be added again.
I know networking, and at no time should a loss of connection cause the printer to just be removed from Printers and Faxes, Printers, or anything like that.    If the connection is lost, the connection is lost, but the printer SHOULD still be set up in Windows, just pointing at the wrong place(if the IP address has been changed).
I suspect that it is more likely that the HP Update software is the culprit, and will test that theory today with a customer who has this problem.    It also seems to be limited to the HP Photosmart line of printers, since the Officerjet line does not seem affected by the bug.

  • Apple TV Disconnects from Wireless Network

I've got an Apple TV that apparently likes to disconnect from my wireless network and the only way to get it to reconnect is to re-setup the network on the Apple TV. This is really getting annoying because it seems that each time I want to sync it or rent a movie I have to reenter the network key. I've performed a factory reset and always download the updates whenever they're available.
I have noticed that the Apple TV is picking up a bunch of other wireless networks in the area and mine is about 4th on the list. Though my signal is much stronger that all the others. I'm using a Airport Extreme base station as my router/access point for this Apple TV.
Any ideas? or anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Hi
I was having the same problem. It is most likely as was previously posted, signal interference.
As I don't know what router configuration you are using (I use Time Capsule) I am not completely sure this will work but if you download from Apple Support Airport Radar it will tell you what signal channels in your area are in use. You can then select one that no one else is using with your Airport Utility/ Manual Setup or with whatever configuration tool your router has and the problem will go away. In my case Channel 8 was best.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why does my macbook keep disconnecting from my network

im currently using (borrowing) someone elses wireless internet at the moment but i dont see why my macbook is having trouble with the wireless connection from downstairs when it was working fine for the past week, what should i check for to make sure nothing is wrong??? everytime i try to connect to it, the network disappears from my list of networks, could this be due to two other computers using the network?? im rubbish at computer stuff so i need some tips!
    cheers

It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has been introduced recently in the immediate area that is preventing you from getting a good clean signal to your MacBook.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like MacStumbler or iStumbler to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible.
    Other things to try:
o Switching channels - In some cases (especially when interference is at play) switching channels on the router can improve reception weakened by various causes.
o Recycle the AirPort card - You may want to try turning your internal AirPort card off then back on if you are having access issues. This can be accomplished through the AirPort menu item, or using Internet Connect (located in the Applications folder)
o Disable any third-party wireless applications (monitors/sniffers) - Some third-party applications that manipulate or otherwise interact with the wireless connection may cause problems.

  • Disconnection from cellular network

since i've bought my new 3gs this week it keeps disconnecting from the network if i keep it without usage for about some time ..approx 30 min or more....when some one calls me he finds me out of service and when i call some one the call fails and i have to restart the phone to once again get connected to the operator and can make and receive calls normally
i tried everything reset network settings, reset all setting, choose carrier manually, i restored the whole OS from i tunes (3.1.3) but nothing worked the same problem occurs..note that am using it on 2g and closing 3g as i have weak 3g in my area...
am really tired from that issue..please any help that would be great!!

If the issue is consistent and you say youve done all the steps youve listed my best advice would be to return the iphone to your nearest apple store.

  • Time capsule keeps disconnecting from the internet

My MBP was previously connected to the internet via my sky netgear router, with no issues.
I have recently purchased a 2TB time capsule and connected that to the sky netgear router via an ethernet cable.
I then set it up as its own wifi network.  Now it keeps disconnecting from the internet every 5 mins or so.  I know that the internet is fine as I can hook up with my netgear router with no issues.  I cant seem to find any settings to play with.  Earlier posts seem to suggest firmware issues, but since this is a brand new MBP and TC, I can't understand what the issue could be.

Give us the full blown picture of the network.
What modem? Is it a router?
Is the TC in router or bridge mode?
Can you test with ethernet.. does the same disconnect happen when wireless goes down?
ie is this a router issue or a wireless issue?
If wireless can you try setting all that is now auto, to manual settings.. wireless channels.. unfortunately I think wireless mode is no longer accessible. Different names for 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
There are no new drivers.. That would only be relevant to AC wireless anyway.. or the firmware of the TC.
But you are running the latest firmware.. 7.7.1 which does mention some (rare) disconnections.

  • PC keeps disconnecting from home hub.

Got a very annoying problem, for some reason my computer keeps disconnecting from my home hub. Its got much worse recently and I have no clue what is doing it. Sometimes it can stay disconnected for a couple of hours and when you finally get the connection back it says it cant connect to the Internet. Also my network adaptor cant find my hub but it will find my neighbours even though the hub is just down the stairs from my PC. Signal it good-excellent. There are 2 other computers using the same hub but the are totally unaffected by this.
    Would really appreciate some help.

from your comments I assume you are using wifi
you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.

  • Constant Disconnection from Cellular Network

Hi There, so I've gotten my iPhone 5 32GB since July 2013 and I honestly adore the phone however, there is a problem i'm facing with it quite recently.... the phone keeps disconnecting from the cellular network carrieer every 10 secs of the day... so...I'll start up the phone it connects with 5 blocks of reception.. then it drops to four...then to 1... then it completely disconnects itself from the network and the Edge sign disappers and then 5 secs after it connects back. I dont use my phone much to talk.. however.. it messes up my data plan, i can't even make a call that is more than 10secs... it drains the battery life and I have to wait every few secs to send a whatsapp mesg/fb etc. . I spoke to my carrier... they used different sims of the same network to see if its the sim card itself being the issue.. but its not.. we even used another network's sim.. but no difference.. What should I do?
Sincerely, Stefan (first time Apple user)

    Hey stef4896,
These are all the standard troubleshooting steps for the issue you're encountering:
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrierto report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

  • SOLUTION to your HP printer going offline and/or constantly disconnecting from the network

If you are having a problem printing, scanning or faxing with any HP Printer because of it going offline and constantly disconnecting from the network, here is the fix!
I figured this all out after many unsuccessful attempts with HP Support, my Internet Service Provider and various troubleshooting tasks including reinstalling HP software over and over and over.  Well, through self teaching on the internet and 6 grueling months of research, I FINALLY figured it out.  OMG!  I am a Paramedic (not IT) and somewhat computer literate but by far no expert.  I here all of you!  Nobody seems to have the answer but I am 97% sure that I do.  Either way, please reply back and let me know that this did in fact work for you!  :-)
It doesn't matter if your printer is installed wirelessly or wired.  Don’t worry about reinstalling your software, no recycling your printers’ power or your Router/Modem.  The reason your printer is unstable on the network and continues to either go offline or disconnect from the network is NOT because the software is glitched, it’s not a firewall problem per say, it’s not a router problem, there isn’t a problem with your power cord, it’s because most networks use a “range” of IP addresses and for security purposes, it sort of “cycles” the various devices’ IP addresses to decrease the chance of an attack.  A printer is no threat but the “network” doesn’t possess human intelligence so it doesn’t know this.  Below are my step by step instructions on how to basically make your printer hold its IP address (static IP) instead of changing back and forth through a cycle therefore dropping your printer off the network or disconnecting.
Funny, if you are someone who has had items in your print cue, they won’t print, and you turn your printer off and then back on and suddenly your documents print…well, join my club.  The reason this works is because when you first turn on the printer, it starts with the same IP address before it cycles.  If you are someone who sits there for a while and suddenly your documents print without you changing anything…this is because through the IP cycle change, it hits your printers IP address and the network will allow it to print.  Not very funny, I know.  It took me forever to figure out why my printer would print sometimes but not all the time.  Since I figured this out, I can SCAN, PRINT and use all of the features of my installed HP software such as HP Solution Center, Photosmart Essentials.
On your printer, go to menu/setup/network and press OK.  Inside the network menu, print a "network configuration page" so you can see the IP address and other settings for your printer.
Now, go back to main menu on your printers’ screen.  Or you can go to your web browser and type in the IP address using the decimals too and this will take you to your printers’ web page.  Choose: setup\network and press OK.  Look for IP settings and press OK. Choose "manual" instead of "automatic". Enter the IP address there manually as well as the default gateway which you can see on the network configuration page that you printed earlier.  Note: If you manually set the printer's IP, make sure that it is outside of your router's DHCP range. Otherwise you may run into an issue with duplicate IP's on your network. (If you don’t know how to do this, write back and I will explain).  Don’t forget to click “save changes”.  Now, restart your computer and print anything you want.  :-)
A trick I often use with printers in DHCP networks:
In Printers and Faxes right click on the printer and select “properties”.  Click add a new port.  Choose standard TCP/IP port configured to the printer host name. Read the hostname from the printer's network configuration sheet.
Using my method means that you always connect to the printer even if its IP changes (which may happen with dynamic configuration). This does not jeopardize your network security.  It just tells your printer to stay put and stop traveling the IP address highway.  :-)
    This question was solved.

The DHCP range is the range of IP addresses the router hands out automatically as devices join the network.  The DHCP range is determined by the router and each brand has a range set at the factory (that can be changed by you).
Your D-link's DHCP default range is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.  So, outside the DHCP range is .2 to .99 and .200 to .254.
Attached is a handy cheat sheet.
You can change this range by entering the router's settings page - type the router's IP address into a browser, enter the login info and navigate to the DHCP settings area (varies based on router, hunt around).
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Why does my computer keep disconnecting from my wifi?

Why does my computer keep disconnecting from my wifi?

Some users with various Wi-Fi problems have reported that they were given the following instructions by Apple Support, sometimes with success. After completing the procedure, you'll have to recreate all your settings in the Networkpreference pane. Make sure you know how to do that before you begin. Taking screenshots of the preference pane may be helpful.
    Step 1
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Reboot and recreate the network settings.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 2
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 3
    Reset the PRAM.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Do you actually see a weak signal shown on the Apple TV when it is connected to your network. The problem may not be a weak signal, it may be interference from other networks or electrical devices.

  • Flex 2 14 periodically disconnects from the network on Wi-Fi.

I have a Broadcom 802.11N Network Adapter device with driver version 6.30.223.201, which is the latest on the Lenovo site.  I am running Windows 8.1, as provided on the system.  I've installed Windows updates and some other software, but have not otherwise changed the OS.
I have seen other users with similar problems, but no fixes for Broadcom.
Any ideas anyone?  May be a "back to lenovo" thing.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I called Lenovo Tech Support and they had me try something that seems to be working.  Apparently there are *two* drivers available for the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter: one published by Broadcom, one published by Microsoft.  My system *was* configured to use the Broadcom driver, Lenovo Tech support had me change to use the Microsoft published driver.  I have not had a disconnect since.
    To change the selected driver:
    0. Make sure you have the latest drivers from the Lenovo support site installed.
    1. Launch "Device Manager"
    2. Expand "Network adapters"
    3. Right-click on "Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter" and select "Properties".
    4. In the properies window, select the "Driver' tab and click "Update Driver..."
    5. In the update window, select "Browse my computer for driver software"
    6. On the next page, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
    7. On the next page, you should have a choice of selecting from one of two drivers.  Select the one from *Microsoft*.
    8. Click "Next" and complete the driver install.

  • Oracle Personal Edition (disconnected from the network)

    Hello everyone,
I have oracle PE 10.1.0.2 installed on my laptop (running windows xp pro sp2). I have the laptop connected to the network most of the time. Yesterday, I was trying to access my database while I am in the coffee shop but I couldn't. I was getting a "no listener" error from the application I am using. I took a look at the running services and I found out "OracleDBConsoleorcl" and "OracleServiceORCL" did not start. I tried to start them. But I was getting a type 2 error. tried to reboot. no good
When I connected my computer to network, I was able to connect to the database from my application and from the enterprise manager.
I searched this forum and I found out that I need to configure a loopback adaptor if Oracle DB is installed on a DHCP computer. In my case, I am disconnected from the network. Would a loop back adaptor fix the issue? Would it cause any problems when I connect back to network? In another word, would the database listener and OracleServiceORCL services work if I am connected and disconnected from the network?
    Thanks for the help

I do not have Personal Edition, but if you can a check, make a copy/backup, and then change the entries in $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\config
    $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\config\emoms.properties $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\config\emd.properties
and any httpd configuration files in that directory.
