  • Color Laserjet Pro M277dw making weird noises when printing

Hello Everyone, At my office we bought the Color Laserjet Pro M277dw printer last week, and since then everytime we print, the printer makes really weird noises. We checked inside but everything inside looks to be okay . Here you have the link with an audio I recorded with the sound it makes. Thank you very much and it would be great if you guys could help us to find a solution! Best, Lorena

Grinding can only mean physical damage to the printer.  You need to isolate the sound and replace the part to resolve the problem. The good news is that this is a new printer and will be covered by the warranty.  Contact HP directly and have them run you through the options.  It shouldnt cost you anything, but you do need to contact them directly.

  • Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???

Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???
I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.

I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design!  It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product.  There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad.  I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone  (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating.  I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad.  The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise  wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon.  Failsafe user experience?

  • My dvd drive makes an awful noise when inserting dvd, I have a macbook PRo

My dvd drive makes an awful noise when inserting a dvd. Does that means it needs to be replaced?

It's more like a grinding sound. I was trying to convert  the dvd with Mpeg Streamclip when it started , After that I tried with Handbrakes and got the same sound. I gave it  a rest and inserted another dvd and it was fine. Now I don't know what to do, looks like the drive is ok..

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

Click here for information; if the computer beeps three or fewer times, remove and reinsert the computer's RAM. If it beeps four or more times, it needs to be repaired. If it's a G5, it will ignore RAM modules that aren't part of a matching pair.

  • My Pixma 922 makes a scratchy sound when printing

Why does my Pixma 922 make a scratchy sound when printing?  It just started today, and I have cleaned the rollers, the bottom tray (which is the only tray I use), I have aligned the printer heads, and unclogged the cartridges.  I have troubleshooted the printer and it states all is okay?  Nothing is wrong with the printing images and no half printed testing pages.
Assistance please and any ideas will be marvelous!

    Hi 4Adonai,
There is a setting the in the printer driver that may resolve this issue, "Prevent Paper Abrasion".  To enable this, please follow these steps:
     1.  Click on Start and then Control Panel.
     2.  Click on Printers.
     3.  Right click the PIXMA MX922 and left click on Printing Preferences.
     4.  Click on the Maintenance tab.
     5.  Click on the Custom Settings button.
     6.  Place a checkmark next to Prevent Paper Abrasion.
     7.  Click OK.
     8.  Click Apply (if available) and then OK.
Attempt to print.  The noise should be gone when printing.

  • Loud noise when printing

print quality good but loud noise when printing. do printers need "oiling"?

    Hello @mikeed,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that your 7500A is being rather noisy.
    I would like to help.
Unfortunately, there is not way to 'grease up' the printers gears.
If the noise goes away when the product is on, and disconnected from the computer, there might be a connectivity problem. Use the following steps to isolate a connectivity issue with the computer.
    Shut down the computer.
    Turn off the product.
Disconnect the USB cable from the product.
    Wait 30 seconds.
    Turn on the product.
    Print a self test report
    Turn off the product.
Connect the product to a USB port on the computer.
    Turn on the computer.
After the computer finishes booting up, turn on the product.
If you still hear the sound, connect the product to a different USB port on the computer. Check the functionality of the product.
If you still hear the sound, connect the product to a new computer.
Check the functionality of the product.
If the sound continues and the product functions normally, the sound is a normal sound.
When the product prints, the rollers, gears, paper feed, and carriage makes noise.
When you print in the Fast or Draft modes, the product makes more noise than when you print in the Best or Normal modes.
    Check the following:
If the product did not print successfully, check for a paper jam.
Check that the product supports the paper you loaded.
Make sure the paper is loaded correctly, the trays are extended, and the paper guides are adjusted properly.
You can also try the following.
Remove and reinsert the cartridges to make sure that they are correctly installed in the unit.
    Perform a hard reset.
While teh printer is powered on, unplug the printers power cord.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the printer.

  • My macbook pro makes that ejecting noise when i open it but not every time usually when i ve been away for awhile then take it out of sleep it makes the noise is this normal?

Hi ive had my macbook pro for a week or so and when i open after its been in sleep mode for quite a while it will usually make that ejecting noise. It doesnt make the ejecting noise evreytime i open it just sometimes. Is this normal HELP

    Yes, it's normal.
Apple released a firmware update a couple of years ago that was supposed to stop the drive from making that noise in certain models that were available then, but even the update didn't work all the time. The noise is completely harmless and not indicative of any problem. Just ignore it.

  • IPod makes a funny noise when skipping too quick..

Anyone else getting a loud 'clicking' noise when you skip too fast thru tracks? It's like it loads a fraction of the track, then pauses while it gets the next one, but instead of pausing, just repeats the fraction of the track and makes a really really loud fast 'clicking' noise for 2 or 3 seconds and locks up while it's doing it. Never did that before the update. Makes me want to throw the phone out the window with that and the battery life!!

I had the same problem last night minus the humming noise. A movie froze on my 5th gen ipod. It remained that way the rest of the night. I couldnt turn it off or, the screen remained on. I tried plugging it into the usb and still nothing. My computer wouldnt even read it. Luckily by the time i awoke this morning it had finally turned off. My guess is to dead battery. So i plug it into my comp and wait about 5 minutes and it finally was read by my computer...
Doubt this will help you at all. Just wanted to share my similar experience.

  • My G5 doesn't make the Chiming noise  when I restart it.

My G5 doesn't make the Chiming noise anymore when I restart it. I also noticed that the light blinks in frequency of 3 flashes, so I removed one of the RAMs based on the instructions listed in the manual. Now it only flashes once periodically everytime I restart it.

You need to reinstall that module or replace it. A Power Mac G5 won't recognize RAM which isn't part of a matching pair.

  • Are the macs supposed to make a grinding noise when its starting up?

I just bought my macbook pro today! When i turn on the mac it makes a grinding noise by the pad on the right side. Is this normal?

The hard drive is located under the right palmrest and, no, it shouldn't be making any sort of grinding noise. Take it back to your Apple Store and have them hear it. Normally, if the hard drive is dying, you may hear a chirping noise, but no grinding noise!
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Why does my macbook make a funny noise when I open it?

After my macbook pro has been on the charger for some time & I open it up, it will make a funny noise & the screen will be blue with a bar on it.  Takes a little bit before I can use it,  Does anyone know what is wrong?

I quit all applications & close the lid.  I usually use the charger all time.  If I leave it unplugged from the charger, it will not do this.  It will make a whirring noise & the screen will be blue over my background, will have a bar on it like it is loading.  Then will finally let me use the curser after a few seconds.  Only had the macbook for about 4 months.  It started doing this about 2 month after I bought it.
If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.

  • Photosmart C8180 Squeaky noises when Printing

I have a Photosmart C8180 all-in-one printer.  When I hit print and the wheels or mechanics of the printer start to move, I get horrible squeaky noises.  It's not from the paper tray or photo tray but somewhere else.  It happens a lot during the process of the printing before printing actually takes place and once it's done.  The noises are getting worse.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of this noise?  I am worried my printer will break down if not taken care of soon.  I print a lot of photos but these noises also happens when printing documents.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi - Assuming you're in the US, you can call 866-234-1377 for service related options.  As for parts for the printer, you can go here to find the parts that are avaialble for the C8180.  I don't have any idea which part(s) would need to be replaced.  If you're interested in going that route, you might start a new post with that question specifically and see if another user on the forum might have some experience with parts replacement on the C8180.
    Hope that helps.
