HP Laserjet IIp plus printer driver

Hi Guys - need help locating a printer driver for HP Laserjet IIp Plus. Trying to get this thing attached to a blue iMac running OS 9.2. Have searched everywhere I can think of. Just hoping someone out there has something with 9.2 running same, or a good lead...
Thanks in advance

Hi, John. HP offers no Mac drivers for the IIp or IIp+, probably because they were built with only a parallel-port interface, which Macs can't use. They are not PostScript printers, so even if you could connect yours to your Mac, it couldn't use the Apple or Adobe PostScript driver that some HP printers (e.g. my LaserJet 4M) can use.
I believe the only way you'll be able to use the IIp+ with any Mac will be to locate a used Infowave PowerPrint cable-and-driver package (the cable is essential; the driver alone would be of no value). But that will only help you on a Mac that can boot into OS 8.x or 9.x and has an ADB port, which no iMac does. And when it was new, PowerPrint was expensive: it cost more than many low-end printers, so most people just replaced their printers instead of bothering with PowerPrint. Even PowerPrint won't serve your needs unless you have an old ADB-equipped Mac to run it on, so you should probably plan to use a different printer instead of the IIp+.

  • HP Laserjet 4 Plus printer driver

I need a compatible printer driver for HP Laserjet 4 Plus printer.  I have Windows 7 - 64 bit.

The Laserjet 4 Plus driver is supplied through Windows Update for Windows 7.  You can do the following:  click Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, select the correct port, Next, then select Windows Update, then select HP as the manufacturer and select the Laserjet 4 Plus.

  • HP LASERJET 1020 PLUS PRINTER PRINTING PROBLEM

    HI.
I AM RAJA PAUL FROM INDIA, I HAVE A HP LASERJET 1020 PLUS PRINTER , NOW A DAYS   I AM FACE ING A PROBLEM , WHEN I AM GOING TO PRINT FROM THIS PRINTER , EVERY TIME PRITING LETEER SHOW  Distorted characters. WHAT I DO?

    Hi @rajahp ,
I see by your post that the printer is printing distorted characters. Thanks for providing the screen shot. I can help you.
It looks like a issue with the toner or possible a hardware issue with the printer or fuser.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
    2. Check the memory chip for damage.
    3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, toner on the drum or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
    5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
I have provided a document for cleaning inside the printer and running a cleaning page, resetting the printer and checking the driver settings. Resolving Print Quality Issues.
    Try printing a document again.
    Let me know the results.
What kind of paper are you using?
Try another type of paper to see if you have the same results.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
    What is the toner level?
    Have a nice day!

  • My LaserWriter Pro 630 thinks it's a LaserJet IIP and prints dirty pages!

I recently aquired a LaserWriter Pro 630, and have been trying to get it to work. I've been using it with a WinXP Pro SP2 laptop as my PowerMac G4 doesn't have a parallel port and my print server has not arrived yet.
Basically, the only time it'll print anything is when the push button on the printer interface rail is set to 1 or 3 - which is PCL output. While the printer will print when set to PCL, it's output is... undesirable. When configured in XP as a LaserWriter Pro 630, it simply starts printing out the raw PostScript sent to the printer! interestingly enough, the printer will print on push button setting 4 - it'll print the printer spec sheet, and nothing else. Anything other than 1, 3, 04 4 will result in the printer thinking for a bit then giving an "out of paper light" or having the print job pass on in to oblivion, not giving an error on the printer or computer.
Now, the LW Pro 630 supports LaserJet IIP emulation... So I manually configured the driver to a LaserJet IIP in XP, set the push button to 3, and it prints! Only problem is, the pages look like they were sent through a bad fax machine.
I uploaded the scan of the XP Printer Test page here (http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lwpro630xp2cq7.jpg). Obviously the printer works, but I'd rather not print reports and whatnot on it when it looks like this.
For reference, here's the scan of the printer spec sheet that prints when the push button's set to 4 (http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lwpro630specsdy0.jpg).
Does anyone have an idea how I can resolve the LaserWriter's identity crisis and make it print cleanly again? Thanks!

The LaserWriter Pro 630 is a Postscript level 2 printer with LocalTalk, serial, Ethernet, and parallel interfaces.
To use it with your Mac, you may need to convert its 14-pin AAUI Ethernet port (marked with <_> Icon) to an RJ45 Ethernet port by adding a used US$5 transceiver.
It can then be used with the standard Apple LaserWriter driver when you turn on AppleTalk on your Ethernet port. No additional print server is required to use with a Mac.
The overall smudginess is caused by shipping it with the cartridge in place, with the tape seal removed. The toner has flown all over the inside of the cartridge. You need a new cartridge.
The LaserWriter test page is trying to explain the settings of the number dial in the center oval of the printout. It lists the ports in order and the settings imposed by each switch setting:
8 -- for the MiniDIN-8 port, used for LocalTalk
RS-232 -- for the RS-232 port, probably a DB-25, and shows the serial settings, like 9600, 8 data, etc.
Ethernet -- for the AAUI Ethernet port, which accepts Postscript level 2 data using "EtherTalk" -- AppleTalk-over-Ethernet
parallel -- for Centronics parallel, which will likely only provide HP PCL 4+ emulation and not Postscript.

  • HP Laserjet 4100n network printer driver fails to install

I am trying to install the printer driver for an HP 4100n laserjet on an XP machine.  I have downloaded the file "hp LaserJet 4100 Printing System (61.3 MB) from the HP web site.  First issue is that upon executing the setup exe file the InstallShield stops at 99%.  I have to end it via Windows Task manager.  Occassionally I can get to 100% but I have no idea why only occassionally.  If I boot into Safe Mode I get to 100% everytime.
Once in Safe Mode the wizard seems to operate properly, finding the printer on the network and returning the correct TCP address.  I get to the end of the wizard and I get a Sever Error message and the wizard terminates.
I have two laptops and one other desktop connected to the 4100n via the network.  I must be doing something wrong and could use some suggestions.
    Thanks

  • LaserJet 4 plus printer/windows 10

My laserjet4 plus printer was working fine with windows 8.1.   Just updated to windows 10 and it doesn't print or see it anymore. Using a Solectek Laser Access parallel to connect with a parallel to usb connection.  I added printer from control panel but still no luck. Any solutions other than buying new printer?

rfk15n is brilliant!!!!!  Like rfk15n, I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and have a LaserJet 4.  I just didn't understand the part of his/her instruction about the "virtual usb port."  Eventually, the Microsoft people helped me.  What rfk15n was saying was that, when you are manually installing the printer (LaserJet 4 or 4 Plus), you will have a choice to make about ports.  I kept blowing past that.  Don't blow past it, but click on the choices in the port area.  That's where you will find the "virtual usb."  Click on that.  Then click on the LaserJet 4 or 4 Plus in the list that Windows 10 provides, as appropriate for your printer.  When you click to print the test page, it should work like a charm.  (I kept getting error messages and couldn't get my printer to work before I got the port problem fixed.)  You do NOT need to get any kind of special parallel USB converter that is "windows 10 certified."  It is all in the port you click.

  • My hp laserjet 1020 plus printer is not working in network in window 98 Pl give me a solution

    hiiii...

    Hi Gaurav,
The printer is not compatible with Mac as you may see below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01973413&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
You may try the following workaround and check if tha may work:
Download and install the following package:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907
Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your Mac.
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Click the plus sign and select the printer.
Click the Use menu and then click on Select Software.
Select the HP Laserjet 1022 from the list and click on Add.
Now try printing using the added Print Queue.

  • HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP Printer Driver fails on install

I have tried installing this as a network printer, and as a local one.  Neither install will do anything but fail.
I don't have a previous issue of HP Universal Driver either, so that can't be it.

    Hi @KCinTX ,
I see that you are having issues with the install failing over the network. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
What is the error message that you are getting?
Remove the HP Universal driver from Devices and Printers and the Print Server Properties.
How to Locate Print Server Properties for Windows 7.
On the Driver tab, highlight and remove the printer.

  • Laserjet 4 plus prints after 6 to 8 pages

The printer initially prints a blank page working up to a pretty good print after 6 to 8 pages, and prints fine if I continue to print. If I let the printer sit then try to start printing the same problem occurs. I installed a new toner cartridge, made no difference.  I've taken the unit above the paper tray out and cleaned it. It looks fine to me. Could the heater button resting against the roller be taking time to warm up?
On a separate problem, I get a paper jam where I have to open the back flap and pull out the logged paper fairly often. I do have to use lighter grade paper for printing, or I get jams all the time. Thanks

  • Print error on HP LaserJet 4 Plus

I have a Macbook Air, Mac OS X 10.6.8 and have installed my old trusty Laserjet 4 Plus printer. It printed once, then gave me an error, "W2 INVALID PERS"
and won't print again. I am told I do not need to download another driver, the Air has what is necessary
I have tried the Generic PCL Laser printer driver as well as the HP driver and neither work. I looked on the HP site and there is nothing available for this printer, only the Laserjet 4 Plus "M"
I am using a USB to Parallel cable. In the printer queue everything seems to go to 4% then stop sending.
Even though all the sites say this will work with the Air, could it be that there is not enough Ram (or something) to make it work?
I am sooooo frustrated! It is an old printer but works fabulously for what I need AND I have lots of cartridges for it!
    Any ideas would be appreciated!
       Thank you,
PS...if there is no hope, can you recommend a printer that doesn't gobble up ink?

"W2 INVALID PERS" translates to 'Invalid Personality' - it occurs when you're trying to send a PostScript-formatted print file to an HP printer than only recognizes HP-PCL.

  • Printer driver for an HP LaserJet 1000 series for use with Windows 7

The CD ROM HP LaserJet 1000 series printer driver is not recognized by my new Windows 7 PC. So the printer does not work. I've looked on the HP web site for compatible drives and get the hint that a Vista driver would work. Can someone please confirm if this possible and how this is accomplished? Thanks.

Where did you find a hint that Vista drivers would work?  This page says:
Your LaserJet model is not supported in Windows 7.
For more information regarding upgrade programs and new product information, please visit the HP Trade-In/Trade Up website at www.hp.com/united-states/tradein/home_flash.html or directly from HP at www.hp.com .
Additionally, this page says the Laserjet 1000 is not supported in Vista.
If you are using the 32 bit version of Windows 7 it may be possible to download the XP drivers here and install them.

  • Windows 7 and HP LaserJet 4 Plus

I have a new laptop with windows 7 and an old (but very reliable) LaserJet 4 Plus printer.  I was able to download print drivers from the HP site but it still will not print.  I don't get any error messages, just nothing happens when I try to print a document or test page.  Do I need to change something else in my settings?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

There are two main areas for issues installing a Laserjet 4 in Windows 7:
Ports.  The Laserjet 4 and its derivatives had a standard parallel port but most Windows 7 machines no longer have a parallel port.  The most common solution is a USB-parallel converter cable.  This can be problematic because many of the converter cables do not support Windows 7.  [Edit - the posts flagged here have models of converter cables users in the forum has reported as working in Windows 7.] Additionally, most of the cables have no documentation (or even a brand name) making it difficult to resolve issues.  The converter may provide a simulated parallel port such as LPT3: or it may be a port like USB001:.  Another option with the Laserjet 4 would be to add a JetDirect card which would provide a network port for the Laserjet 4.  This will require the Laserjet to be connected to a router and would provide network access to multiple computers if you wish.  A typical JetDirect card for the Laserjet 4 is shown here.
Drivers.  The drivers for the Laserjet 4 (and 4M and other derivatives) are delivered through Windows Update.  If Windows Update is enabled (as described in step method 2 here under the section to "Configure Windows Update to"...) you may be able to just connect the USB cable and have the driver properly install.  If not do the following:  click on the Start Orb, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, then select the appropriate port.  When the list of printers comes up click on Windows Update.  It will take several minutes for the list to repopulate, once this is complete the Laserjet 4 series printers will be available under HP (not Hewlett-Packard).

  • No save button in printer driver download

Hi, I have a new used notebook and I'm trying to download the HP Laserjet M1120 MFP printer driver. I can locate the driver on the HP website and get as far as the "save as" page but there is no button to press to actually save the driver to my notebook. Photoshop full version is more oriented to giving you a lower level of control of everything, to maximize your creative control, while Photoshop Elements tends to package things up to make them easier/quicker to use for common tasks.
