HP Laserjet M1132 MFP on Mac OS 10.7 - No Scanner Detected

I just installed the HP Laserjet M1132 MFP on my mac mini (mid 2011) with OS X 10.7 (Lion).
I have the printer working fine with the right driver comming from the installation disk.
I have also upgraded the firmware to the latest one available for download from there site.
One thing happen during the installation was that I couldn't finish the installation properly at the time of applying custom settings, the wizard prompted me "You must have administrative right ....", which I have, and when mac OS needs it, he asks for it anyway. The only choice was to cancel, but drivers were installed.
Then, I launched HP Scan to check the scanner, and I have ... "No scanners availables" !!
I also run apple software update, but nothing!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Trezi!

Sorry if there are errors of grammar. I'm using google translator because I am Brazilian and I do not write in English, just read.
I bought my printer M1132 After installing the Lion, and came across the same error message. I managed to solve this issue by enabling the root user and installing the drives by the super user root. When you finish the installation, it did not show the error message described above, and the scannerfunctioned normally for the program "HP Director". The image capture MAC did not work, even the Readiris program that came with the printer. But the point I'm getting now typicallyscan the "HP Director"
As the root user is disabled by default, you should follow the tutorial below to activate the super user. Log in by root in the Login screen, click "Other User". Then type in the spacereserved for root user and then type your password. Shortlyfollowing section to install the printer driver as usual.
Steps to enable root user in Lyon:
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.
Important notes
Only the owner of a computer or its designated administrator(s) should have an administrator account or the root password.
Any user with an administrator account can become the root user or reset the root password.
A root password should be difficult to guess, containing both numbers and letters within the first eight characters.
A root user has the ability to access other users' files.
The root user has the ability to relocate or remove required system files and to introduce new files in locations that are protected from other users.
I hope it helped!!

  • HP LaserJet M1132 MFP: unable to save scan to file

    Hi,
I just purchased a new HP LaserJet M1132 MFP. Everything is working fine except when using HP Director. It detects the device and scans. But when I try to save the file on my computer it doesn't succeed. Nothing is saved in the folder. What seems to be the problem?

    Hi,
Did you installed the printer using teh original CD?
If so, can you see Mac OS X v10.7 listed as supported on its label?
I assume the CD will not be compatible with 10.7...
If this is the case indeed, go to Applications > HP Laserjet MFP folder (or anything similar) and follow the HP Uninstaller..
After uninstalling the software be sure to remove the printer from Print & Scan if it still exists...
Download and install the latest software for Lion below and check if that may resolve the problem:

Hi, i've installed HP LASERJET M1132 MFP in my PC with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and it works fine. But when i connect using remote dekstop with  our Windows server 2008 r2 64 bit. its not printing. error "test page failed to print , would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?" and it doesnt solved the problem.

The situation is a bit different than the picture. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available through the WAN. LAN is plugged into the PC-1, PC-2 and Konica Minolta printer. HP LaserJet M1120n MFP is connected via USB to the PC-1. OKI ML 3320 printer is connected via LPT also to the PC-1. PC-1 has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 also has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 is also available for PC-1 HP and OKI.
It seems to me that I found the explanation for the printing problems - some of "my" printers are simply not compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2. I found on the net the following information:

  • HP LaserJet M1132 MFP does not print from a remote desktop

    Hi,
I have a HP LaserJet M1132 MFP (product number CE847A) connected to a PC (MS Windows XP Home Edition + SP3) via USB. There is no problem with the printer. However, when the connection using Remote Desktop (it's set to use local facilities and resources, or in my case, printers, and serial ports) to the server (MS Windows Server 2008 R2), I can not even print a test page from a remote desktop.
Error message: "Print a test page failed. Do you want to display a tool to solve problems with printing to get help?"
But it does not lead to nowhere, as expected is access to the internet, and I have not it from a MS Windows Server 2008 R2.
The same error is for the HP LaserJet M1120n MFP.
I have installed on my PC other printer - old OKI ML321 (needle) connected to a PC using LPT cable and network printer Konica Minolta 1690MF (in another room). In both of these printers can easily print a test page from a remote desktop.
    Please help me.

  • HP Laserjet M1132 MFP is too slow over the network!

    Hi,
My HP Laserjet M1132 MFP is too slow over the network!
I have connect the printer to a windows XP 32bit SP3 using UBS port. The printer works fine on the local computer but when sharing it over the network it works too slow, for example with print test page it takes about 45 seconds to print and for other documents it takes much longer time.
I have installed the latest driver form HP website and upgrade the firmware it the latest version.
It happens on other Windows XP machines as well.
I connected the printer to my laptop (Windows 7 64bit) and it works fine (No delays over the network) and it seems that this problem have some relations with the windows XP Driver.
I have used local port trick on remote machines (instead of regular method) like this:
    ''add a local printer;
    'new port'
    'localport'
    \\XPcomputer\HPPrinterName as port name
    but still nothing!
There is nothing wrong with the network, we use to use a Samsung printer on the same machines over the network with no problem.
    I Really appreciate your HELP!
    This question was solved.

BEHZAD_T, how is the printer connected to the network (wireless or Ethernet)? If it is slow wirelessly, I would suggest trying to connect the printer to your router with the Ethernet cord and install it to the networked computer that way.
Another question is, relatively speaking, how close to your router are the Samsung printer and the HP printer? Depending on the distance (and what stands between the devices) there can be a lag between sending a print job and it being received by the printer.
    Let me know!

  • 2101nw print server (and LaserJet M1132 MFP) – installation problems on Windows 7 (64bit)

For two years, I've been a happy user of an HP printer (LaserJet M1132 MFP), wirelessly connected to my home network thanks to a HP Wireless G Print Server HP 2101nw.
A week ago, a new machine came in and – to align operating systems - I had to install Windows 7 (64 bits) also on my laptop (previously we were running Windows XP).
Then, I went on with the reinstallation of HP software, for the print server and the printer.
    And it was a disaster.
After the failure of the first installation ("Installazione non riuscita"), I went through a series of attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling, again and again, by various methods. Uselessly. Even Revo Uninstaller did not help.
Then, looking for information over the web, I read there was a known problem of incompatibility of the print server’s driver with 64-bit environment, and that HP was not going to rewrite it .
    You can imagine my disappointment.
Now, hopefully, I write in this forum to ask for help. My request is twofold:
    1) I would like to properIy clean up my laptop and remove all that bad installed sw (both of the print server and the printer), so that at least I can successfully reinstall printer software for using it via USB cable.
For this purpose, can you please give me your suggestions ?
    2) I would like to know: It is true that there is no driver available for use this print server on Windows 7 (64 bit) ?

  • Laserjet M1132 MFP status offline

My laserjet M1132 MFP does not print.i tried some tips in the troubleshooting.all does not work.even the doctor scan after it is downloaded it closes automatically without opening.i dont know what is the problem

Hi , I see that you are experiencing issues printing. I would like to help you. Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. Make sure the printer is directly connected to the computer by the USB cable and not a USB hub. Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue. On the control panel, press and hold the Cancel button until the Ready light starts blinking, and then release the button.Did the self test print? Please go through the steps in this document to see if it will help. • Problems configuring HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP with Mac via AirPrint

    Hello,
I have a HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP printer, connected to a Dlink DSL-2730U ADSL router. I am having problems configuring the printer with my Macbook running OSX Yosemite. I can see the printers name in nearby printers but when I try to add the printer, the mac gives me an error saying, "unable to communicate with the printer at this time". The network settings on the printer are configure for iPv4 and iPv6 addresses.
Previously, I had the ADSL DSL-2750U model router, and the printer was connected fine. I did not face any issues then. I have been facing problems since I changed my router so the problem should be in the router. I have the IP for the printer reserved in the DHCP reservation list on the router settings using the mac address of the printer.
Can someone please help me out here? Is there something I am probably missing.
    Rgds
    ~n~

I talked to the DLink Support. They asked me to disable an option called "MultiAP Isolation" and Voila, the printer is working fine. I can add it to all my devices on the wireless network. I looked up google. Apparently, this isolation feature present in some routers, prevent wifi clients to interact with other devices connected to the wired network and also with each other. Thats why only my desktop which was also connected wired was only able to access the printer and not the laptops connected wirelessly.
Problem solved. Thanks for all your help on this one.
    Cheers!

  • Whenever I plugged in HP laserjet M1132 printer usb to my Macbook air,a screen pop-out "the disk inserted are not readable by this computer".I uninstalled

Hi,I'm new here and I think my problem were discussed few times before. However,I tried to follow the solutions similiar to my condition but it does not work.My problem is whenever I plugged in the HP printer (Laserjet M1132 MFP) usb to my Macbook Air,a screen will pop-out and read as 'the disk inserted is not readable by this computer'.I even bought my Mac to the Mac store but the situation remains the same.Okay with other printer but not with my HP.Sigh.The HP printer worked just fine with other computers (not Mac).I'm really sick of it.Please help me.I once plugged in an external hard drive & started Time Machine with it.The printer problem started after that. However, the hard drive plug-in works just fine.
Your attention of above matter is highly appreciated.Thank you.

Here is what worked for me:
I reset the System Management Controller on my MBA.  To do so requires shutting it down, keeping it plugged in to power (I also unplugged both USB connections), and then from a powered off state I simultaneously pressed Shift + Ctl + Option + Power (I did this once and it did not work so I tried again and did it 3 times just to be safe), then released them at once, then I pressed the power button.  Problem solved.
    http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/qt/Resetting-The-Smc-System-Management-Con troller-On-Your-Mac.htm
I also tried uninstalling the using the repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and moved the HP Printer software accessories to the trash (you can search the web for how to do that but that did not solve the problem either).  Neither of these options worked.

  • HP LaserJet M1132 toner cartridges not delivering full capacity

I have a LaserJet M1132 MFP bought last week. Connection is USB, operating system is Windows 8 - 64bit. Have upgraded to latest firmware. Driver is latest Windows 8 driver. Settings are default (fastres 600).
When using the initial toner cartridge that came with the unit, it delivered only around 250 text (note text and not graphics) pages before it ran out. I know this because I bought three reams of paper when I bought the unit and used half a pack. Coverage was around 50% per page, double sided. I took it out and shook it but this made no difference.
I purchased two new original HP CE285A cartidges at the same time as I bought the printer. I wondered if the original cartridge was a reduced capacity cartridge. So I installed a new cartridge. The toner light came on after printing 935 pages (from the status page). Again, the majority of these were text pages at 50% coverage double sided.
Each cartridge is £75 which gives a per page cost of around 8p/page (not including the cost of the printer) which is outrageous for a laser printer. The packaging estimates around 1,500 pages per cartridge but I clearly didn't get anywhere near this with the first cartridge and am not getting this with the second one either. I have another HP MFP (3500) which delivers around 5 reams before a cartridge runs out.
I am an extremely experienced user with 25 years in printing and imaging and know that estimates assume a certain coverage. I am by no means using a heavy coverage. I am extremely unhappy to say the least. Your help and advice appreciated.

The only thing you can do to try and extend the cartridge life a bit more is enable EconoMode on the print driver.  Most likely this was enabled on the devices being tested for the cartridge yield.  I'll include the instructions to enable it below.  Let me know what happens.
    Click on the Start menu.
    Click on Devices and Printer.
    Right-click on your printer.
    Select Printer Preferences.
Click on the Quality tab.  It may be labeled as the Paper/Quality tab.
Click the box next to EconoMode to enable it.
Click Apply to save the change.
Click OK to close the window.
