HP Laserjet M1217nfwMFP Airprint Problem

I have a HP Laserjet Pro M1217nfw MFP connected to a network and the ipad 2 will recogonize and print fine but will not stop printing until I hit the home button twice and stop the printing through the iPad printer queue. I restored the iPad to factory settings but reloaded the backup from my PC...the airprint worked fine until I updated to the most current operating system. I installed the Printer Pro app but the HP seems to have a lock on the printer dialog box and can't get the Printer Pro to pop up. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
This is a known issue and you will need to cancel the print jobs manually till a firmware update will be released.
You may find more information about this issue stated below:

  • HP Laserjet 4P Printing Problems

I am using a Mac G4 with 10.4.7 and printing on a HP Laser Jet 4P using driver HP Laser Jet 4 Series Gimp.
When I first print a page or 20 pages of the job, all works fine. Once I go to print another job, I get the msg "GIMP Printing Page 1, 15% and the printer will not print no matter how long I wait. The only solution is to turn the printer off, re boot the Mac and then it will print one job. To print another job, without a failure, I must turn off the printer again and re boot the Mac. This is really a problem, especially when printing UPS Shipping Labels. Any idea how to correct this problem ?
I do not have the problem with a Epson Printer with standard Mac Drivers. But The HP Laser is so much cheaper to do volume printing, I prefer to use the Laser Jet 4P.
    Thank You for your help
    Paul

Here is the latest update on the HP LaserJet 4P printing problem.
    1. I went to Library>Printers and dragged the Icon (HP Laserjet 4p.app) to the dock. Printer still will not print.
    2. Reloaded the driver HP Laser Jet 4Plus v2013.111
Printer will not print. Error mag on printer is (W2-Invalid Pers)
    3. Reloaded the driver HP Laser Jet 4 series Gimp Print V5.0.0 Beta.
Printer will print one Job (1 page or 20 pages). Send another job and it will not print.
    4. Downloaded the HP Driver for Laser Jet as was instructed in an earlier post
( HPlaserjet v552.dmg) I double click on the .DMG file and it brings up a Icon of a Disk Drive on the desktop HE LaserJet V5.5.2.051. Double click on that icon and a window opens with the same information. There is no place to click to install this driver.
I do not believe the HP Laser Jet 4P has a problem as I can hook it to a PC and it will print one job after the other, never a problem.
How do I get the driver mentioned in #4 to appear in the HP Print drivers list in the printer setup utility so I can select it.
The Parallel to USB converter I am using was the one recommended earlier this year as the one used by a few here on the forum to run their HP Laser Jet 4P.
I could forget the HP Laser Jet and go with my Epson printer. However with amount of business printing and UPS Labels the ink cartridges is very costly. The Laser Jet will run for almost 2 years on a Cartridge. Others have made the Laser 4P work on a Mac. Please scan through my first post and replies to get a flavor of the problem.
Thanks for your continued support. Needless to say, I am lost in this problem.

  • HP Laserjet M1217nfw Airprint and iPad2 - not printing?

HP Laserjet M1217nfw Airprint and iPad2
I have had this printer and this ipad and also an iPhone 4s for several years and they worked well together. About six months ago the HP bricked itself overnight with some kind of firmware update that was sent automatically by HP. I tried to fix it, gave up for a while since we had another printer, then last week finally reinstalled the printer software from scratch and got the printer to work again.
It works wirelessly with our three computers (as it always did) but I have not been able to get my ipad and iPhone to reconnect with it as before. When I want to print from email or a web page, it does not see the printer at all. I have tried turning the wifi off and on, and also restarting, but no joy.
Here's the weird thing: I have two coupon printing apps on the ipad and the iPhone and they resumed printing to the HP right away. The apps see the printer just fine.
If nothing worked it would make more sense. I just can't figure out why the native iOS system doesn't see the printer yet the apps do.

    Just an update
I did the firmware update still no luck.
I can not figure out how to tell the printer what the SSID address it should be looking for .  I can not ping the printers IP address since it is not on the network and the HP software does not seem to let me direct the printer to my SSID
It can not really be this hard - can it???  I am using an airport express as my wireless router.

  • AirPrint Problem

    Hello,
I use a hp photosmart 5510 with AirPrint. I was able to print with my iphone5. But then I had a problem with my router. I had to configure the whole Network new. And since then I couldn't print with AirPrint anymore.
I looked through different websites to find a solution. Some thought it might be a vodafone problem.
Yesterday I had a Specialist who configured aigain everything new - but without solving the AirPrint problem.
Therefore I tried to print out through another Network that uses Kabel Deutschland wifi.
But this was also not possible.
Now I think my iphone might be responsible for the AirPrint problem.
Can anybody help me? It was so easy to print with AirPrint...
    Thank you!!

  • Printing problems with hp laserjet cp1515n [found problem]

    Dear Arch users,
A couple of weeks ago I installed for the first time an Arch linux on my brand new Dell laptop with an UEFI MB. It took a while until I could understand how UEFI works but eventually I sort it out and got Arch installed. Unfortunatelly there are some small problems to be straiten out. One of them is the fact that printing with my laser printer (see subject line) is not working.
for the last couple of days I was searching through all post I could find around on the internet, mainly here at the Arch forum. Unfortunatelly I could not find anything nearly describing what I am living on my system. Well here is a brief description of what is happening. After installing Arch, I opted for KDE desktop environment and I made the full instalation. After installing additional software (gimp, inkskape, etc.) I needed to install my printer. At first I couldn't get permission. Than reading the Arch tutorial for CUPS, I saw that the 'lp' permission was not setup properly. Well Have done as described there. Then I tryed to install using the GUI from KDE for installing an usb printer and for my surprise there was not such an option. I intalled than de hp-toolbox, and than it was easy to install the printer. It was automatically recognized and everything was there. The problem was, when I open an archive (text, web page, doesn't matter) and send it to print, the spooler went well theoretically sent to printer and then popped up a notification saying printing finished. Opening the printing cue, I can see that the archive was still there and marked as pending. That was the point where I started to search around for potential solutions or similar solutions.
    After sudying a lot I came to a conclusions that it probably have something to do with permissions. Unfortunately I could not find out where or which permissions to change in order to get something printed. I found some "debugging" and information commands and I am posting the results here;

    OK here am I again.
as mentioned before I created an bogus printer with:
    lpadmin -p test -v file:/dev/null
    verified the presence of the printer;
    lpstat -p
    $ lpstat -p
    printer Color_LaserJet_cp1515n disabled since Fri 01 Feb 2013 02:55:59 PM BRST -
            reason unknown
printer hp930c is idle.  enabled since Thu 31 Jan 2013 11:30:21 PM BRST
printer test is idle.  enabled since Fri 01 Feb 2013 02:54:57 PM BRST
At first "test" printer was disabled for an uknown reason.
tried to use lpadmin -p test to enable the printer as described on the previusly mentioned web site, but couldn't get to enable printer "test". After reading alittle more on the internet I found the command cupsenable <printer> and indeed it changed the printer status.
    tried to print;
echo test | lp -d test
    result:
    $ echo test | lp -d test
lp: Destination "test" is not accepting jobs.
I tried to change the condition of the Color laser printer but did not made any difference with the cups command.
Conclusion: how can I modify this status to make the printer accept jobs?

I just got a deskjet 3070a and it works fine with all my laptops. When i try to use airprint on my ipad it doesn't find my printer, what can I do?
I have tried anything I could found on Internet but I couldn't solve this problem....
Actually i don't know if it can help but on the printer the IP numer is :192168 1 101 while on my ipad is 192 168 1 102 so they are differents, but they both works with the wireless.... I don't know what to do... please help!!
    Thank you

    Hi,
Firstly please check to see if your printer in the list:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If YES, you can use this to fix
      http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/airprint/
If NO you have to print using other apps (if applicable) such as

  • HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printing Problems with Airport Extreme & JetDirect

I have a HP Laserjet 3600n connected via ethernet cable to our Airport Extreme base station using the built-in JetDirect functionality of the printer. Prior to installing Snow Leopard we had no problems and every computer on the home network could see and print with full functionality on the printer.
After installing Snow Leopard, it took a while but I got the printer working again with the same setup. Then we had a power outage and the printer was no longer visible on the network or in the airport settings. Again it took a while but I once again got it to work. But now it seems like it keeps falling off the network and the printer itself either shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 or another random one. The IP address should be generated by DHCP by the airport.
I don't know if this is a problem with Snow Leopard, the airport extreme, or the printer. The way I got it to work the last couple times no longer fixes the problem. Someone please help.

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?

  • LaserJet CP1025nw Printing Problem

    Hi
I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I installed a new Laserjet CP1025nw a couple of months ago. I got everything working fine wirelessly as per the instructions. It has worked without problem since then ... until today.
Documents just sit in the print queue. They will not print.
Sending a test page wirelessly works fine.
Printing documents on an older wired Epson Inkjet printer I have attached works fine too.
I have tried connecting a USB cable again but cannot get it to print that way either. I have tried making it the default printer, and not. I have searched the support forum but been unable to find anything to help. I have used the Windows troubleshooting diagnostic but that seems to indicate everything should be okay. I have installed the HP diagnostic and that all tells me everything is okay.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I am the one with the Sony Vaio, Win 7 64bit, and have commented previouosly in this thread.
Now I have have taken the next step as per instructions from HP Support.
    1. Delete HP Folder from Program Files and Program Files (x86). The latter was impossible to delete.
    2. Do Run and run 'regedit'.
    3. Make copy of present Registry using menu File and do export (as safety precaution)
    4. Delete HP and Hewlett packard folders in the catalogues: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\, nothing else
After this I checked Control Panel , Start, and Task Manager and found some HP items still there. Did my utmost to erase them using Window delete functions, REVO and Registry Booster. hppcp1025LaserJetService (in Control Panel list) persisted along with some Services in Task Mgr.
Continuing according to HP Support instructions (but now with little hope only) I did
    5. Re-installation of CP1025nw driver package: I choose the Basic option from the HP web which is supposed to be followed installation-wise by an update dated 2011-09-20 (Swedish version).
    Results
    a)  after Basic installation, before update installation and before restart of PC: writing can be performed via the network, "Device settings" in Windows menu not available though
    b) after Basic installation and  update installation and before restart of PC: writing can NOT be performed via the network. Ping status not investigated
    c)  after Basic installation and update installation and before restart of PC: writng can not be performed via the network. Device settings via Windows and ping connection functions well though, although the printer is reported by Windows "Devices and printers" as off-line.
So now I may do a total recovery. There may be two outcomes after the recovery as I see it:
    A. Printing goes well with the CP1025 via the network, also after installation of all necessary applications now residing on the PC (and which resided on the PC before this summer´s HP date)
    B. Printing does not function with the CP1025 via the network, connections with other HP printers on the network also severely restricted (as today). Then the only conclusion would be incompatibility between HP 2011 drivers for the CP1025 and the Sony flavour of Win 7 64 bit Professional. And I would have to (again) claim the driver package as faulty.
The alternative would be to forget about the CP1025 already now.
    Any suggestions?

  • HP Laserjet 5000  connection problems

I recently bought an HP 5000N laserjet hoping to use it with my imac running OSX 10.6  I checked on other mac forums that this would be possible but I'm having real problems with it. I've followed advice so far but it's not working.
I bought a parallel to USB cable (which I realise may be the issue) and have downloaded USBTB (which allows the OS to recognise the printer as a USB printer. )
All this works fine - the printer is recognised and data is sent - the printer says it's receiving and lights are flashing but then the computer says the printer has gone offline and I cant get it back.
The first attempt at printing showed an inch or so of the image and then an error code. So something is getting through. But as I said it then went offline. IANother couple of attempts have had it printing some of what is being sent but after a period of 5 minutes or so and with an error code also on the page.
The printer does have a JetDirect ethernet card in but I have never used or networked a printer using I.P  etc and don't really have any idea how to set this up either.
I do also have a powerbook running OSX 10.4 (with Appletalk) but that doesnt even find the printer.
I also have a Sony laptop running Windows but it doesnt have the creative software I need installed (and it too doesnt seem to find the printer)!!!!
    HEEEELLLLPPPP please!

    Thanks for the reply.
I have a BT Homehub which the imac accesses wirelessly. I tried ethernet linking the cable to that but it's not recognised by the hub (checked by accessing the hub control panel via firefox - no ethernet connections are detected). I have tried to find how to sort this but cant find any info on connecting a printer b=via BT Homehub - only games consoles.
This morning I got a new parallel to USB cable - this worked when printing via Adobe Indesign but not using Photoshop. Then it decided to stop working on both. Again saying printer is offline. It seems to be recognising the cable as a printer??!!. If I turn off hte printer and restart the computer I ca print one document before it goes offline and I have to restart again!!
Anyway Ive just about given up - Ive been trying to fix it for days and the working then not working is worse than not working at all!!
The only other hope I have is trying to use my old powerbook which is running an older 10.4 OS and has Appletalk. ALthough appletalk doesnt seem to be active on the printer and I dont know how to switch it on. Ive never used appletalk.
Is it possible to use Appletalk to connect directly from the powerbook to the printer or will I have to sort out the Homehub/router situation to do this?

  • Hp laserjet 1320 - networkin problems - networking solution

    hi
i had the same problems like some of you with the hp laserjet 1320 n while using this printer in a network.
here is a solution that may work:
connect the printer directly (not via router) to the computer, reset the network settings ofthe printer (press button on the back near the rj-45 connection for 5 sec while starting the printer). wait for 5 min!!!, then print the network status (press shortly the same button onthe back of the printer). read the ip adress, which the printer had given himself. the go to safari an type in the adress. now you are getting connected to the printers settings. set the ip to dhcp an give the printer a certain number inbetween your ip range of your dhcp settings in the tc/ip (mostly 192.168.x.x). then you can disconnect an connect the printer back to the network-router.
then print center: thrwo away old 1320 printers and search again for the 1320. this time it should work, even with the hp installed printer-description from the installation cd.
    good luck
    imac g5, pb g4, etc.   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
    imac g5, pb g4, etc.   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Ever since I upgraded to Tiger, my formerly trusty HP LaserJet 1200 takes up to 10-20 minutes to print a single PDF page (even a simple one), and 2) can't keep track of documents in the queue (if I send a second document while the first is printing, the first one cuts out without finishing).
I understand HP bundled the latest driver into Tiger, so no updated driver is available from HP. Although I installed the GimpPrint drivers, there appears to be no Gimp driver for the LaserJet 1200. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    G5 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Update: I realised that my printer was attached to a USB hub. It's been that way since I bought it and has always used like that. Anyway, on the off-chance (and bearing in mind that I had actually shut down my computer for the first time in a year or so last week), I instead connected the printer directly to one of the USB ports of my iMac. It immediately appeared in the Print Utility list!
Sounds peculiar, but it seems that the problems was linked to a combination of a Tiger upgrade, the use of a USB hub, and the full shut down of the computer.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Hp laserjet p3005d connection problem with windows 7 os

my laptop has windows 7 os but the hp laserjet p3005d connection keeps droping. The message says " the device connected via usb has malfunctioned and not recognised by windows" . restarting the printer solves the problem but this is very frequent now. I have even installed the hp universal driver but still no relief. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!!!!!

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • HP LaserJet 4350n duplex problem - single page

    Hi there,
We have acquired a HP LaserJet 4350n with a duplexer, and printing 2 or more pages works fine.  It prints as expected on both sides.  The problem is if we send a 1 page document to the printer, it prints upside down on the back side first, and then spits out the page.  We use letterhead, so naturally this is a problem.  I could simply put the paper in the opposite way turned upside down, but out print jobs sometimes have 2 pages and other times 1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you require any additional information, please let me know.
    Thanks!

We were never able to fix this behavior.  We have multiple 4350s and they all behave the same way.
Our soulution (while not ideal) is to simply print at least two pages for each job.  Essentially it prints nothing on the back side, then flips it around and prints on the front side.
