Hp laserjet M1530dnf MPF slow printing

The  technical specification for this printer is a print speed of 26 ppm.  Last night I attempted to print a 31 page PDF file. It printed nine pages in 22 minutes before I cancelled the print job.  I have an HP Deskjet 6600 for color printing.  I sent the same file, set for B&W, to that printer. It completed printing all 31 pages in less than six minutes.  Both printers use a wireless connection.  Printer drivers for both were updated on 12 Apr 15.  All Microsoft updaters have been applied.  The 6600 is about three years old.  I've had the M1530dnf Laserjet for about 45 days.  This is just the most egregious example of the Lasterjet's abominably slow printing. Even a five page Word document can take between 3-to-5 minutes. The device manager reports the printer is working properly, but that is obviously not the case.
Any thoughts on where to go next are appreciated.  The printer is still under warrenty, so I can take the problem back to HP. If thast's my option, does anyone have as good phone number to use? I used the number on the support web site and went through three people and over half-hour on hold only to get disconnected.  I'd like to streamline that process by contacting the right person on the first call.

As it turned out, the problem was traced to a needed firm ware update.  HP did a remote control section, had the problem isolated very quickly, performed the correction, and all within a half-hour the printer was back where it should be,
Everybody gets kudus for helping; everything you suggested got me closer and closer.  Completeing the steps you outlined  helped me sound a lot more intelligent.  When I spoke to HP, I had accounted for most of the possible variables.  That way, the time with them was much more productive.

  • HP Color LaserJet 3500n - Slow Printing in Snow Leopard

I've installed all of the HP Printer Updates for Snow Leopard (even manually downloaded the latest entire HP Printer Update), Reset the Printing System and reinstalled all of my printers, but I still continue to have an issues where it takes over 4 minutes for the first page of a print job to print... This is a network printer with an external HP JetDirect (Model #J7942A) box and the slow printing occurs with all Snow Leopard machines. Firmware for both the Printer and the JetDirect box are at the latest versions...
I did notice that Apple's kb article indicates that the latest print driver for this printer is 1.0.2, but my driver indicates 1.0.1... Is the kb article incorrect? Any ideas why I'm not getting the 1.0.2 driver? Suggestions?

I've got the same problem with a Color Laserjet 3550 + JetDirect en3700.
For security reasons, I disabled SNMP v1/v2 on JetDirect. Everythings works fine on Leopard.
I got this problem after upgrading to Snow Leopard (ver. 10.6.2 with HP printer driver 1.0.1).
Looking at network traffic with Wireshark, I've noticed some timeout on SNMP v2 packet directed to the printer.
I've enabled SNMP v1+v2 on JetDirect and now everithings works fine, but security problems related to unsecure SNMP version are now open.
I've upgraded HP printer driver, but I can't find driver version 1.0.2, as mentioned in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP.

  • Very slow printing on 10.6 server

    Hi,
I've got a Mac Mini Server running up to date SL server. I have two printers hooked up to it, one HP laserjet and one Canon Pixma. Both up to date drivers. The printer server is set up and both printers work perfectly when printing locally from the server. The printers are shared using IPP and are visible through Bonjour as 'printer @ server'
The problem arises when I print from my MB. Printing does work but it's painfully slow, taking up to five minutes to start printing. The job doesn't appear in the print server log until well after i've sent it. I have tried both n wifi and gigabit ethernet connections (small text docs take as long to start).
Has anyone else experienced this? Have you resolved it? If so, how?!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I find that clients, Windows, Mac, Linux and OS/2 all exhibit the same problem as you describe when they attempt to print over the network to USB connected printers located on the server while printing from the server itself presents no problems.
The Mac clients provide most information suggesting that the system seems to be searching for something critical to the print process and taking quite some time to find it. When the client finally connects, the print job executes with normal speed. The connection process can take 2-3 minutes on my network.
Attaching the printers to a print server or another client restores printing efficiency. As this essentially provides an ethernet based printing capability, it suggests that the problem relates to operation under USB.
I also learned that OSX Snow Leopard Server does not natively support sharing of USB printers and must be shared through the CUPS process at localhost"631.
Unfortunately, while this allows the printers to be shared across the network, it doesn't provided a solution to the slow printing problem.
I've checked to see that print sharing is active from the Server Admin window and also that queues had been established for the printers. Clients were set up to print directly to the IPP queues and while the print job would eventually print, printing delays still existed.
I also looked at DNS configuration and local host naming but found everything to be in order.
For practical reasons, I have been forced for the moment to service printing requirements by hosting printers on ethernet based print servers or PC/MAC print servers which operates effective but requires in my view an unnecessary additional investment in hardware.
As both of my printers are still quite serviceable, I have no intention of re-investing in ethernet capable printers to work around this problem.
What I think is required is additional coding within Snow Leopard Server to support native USB printing. From what I've seen here in this discussion group, it's current and prolific problem which Apple should be addressing.

  • I just bought an HP Laserjet 5000N to make printing plates. I don't know how to connect it.

I just bought an HP Laserjet 5000N to make printing plates.  A friend bought the HP 5000 and used a parallel to UBS cable to connect directly to her printer but she thinks her cable is interferring with running her jobs (too slow a memory).  I don't actually know what the Jetdirect 610 card does.  Can I connect through this ethernet port directly to my laptop, or do I use the serial side, or do I need to go through a router?  Any advice?

If your computer is connected to the internet, and you  connect the printer to the computer the printer is connected, if that is what you are asking.
The parellel cable is slow to transmit data.  It is an older technology.  Still works and is okay for type and  large documents where the information load is low.  Photoshop files are large and it cannot handle higher information loads well, so keep the files small.
The serial cable may have been upgraded to handle more information, as opposed to the parellel, so I would check at a computer supply store that carries cables.
To connect wirelessly we use the Jet Direct card.  It has an ethernet connection that can plug into your modem which is plugged into your computer to access the internet.  You still have to pay an internet provider. If your room has wireless internet you can get a wireless modem which will pick up the signal.  You plug an ethernet cable from the Jet Direct card to the wireless modem, then use the IP number from the printer to set up the driver in your computer which then allows you to print.  The Jet Direct card is just a chip board thing which just plugs into the computer at the back.  See installation instructions for that but it is really easy.  It is about $35 from feed roller.com for a used one, and worth it.  It runs faster then the parellel cable without stalling out ie can handle more data.
You can get the IP number by plugging in the computer and hit menu then configuration.  You don't need it to print directly from the computer using the serial or parallel cables.  The other thing to check from the configuration page is the amount of memory.  I upgraded to about 44 MBytes and the school one is 72 Mbytes.  More memory helps.  New technology uses more information.  Again, an easy upgrade if you are using Photoshop. The memory chips were $10-15 dollars from feedroller.
    Laura
We upgraded the driver to the current OS 10.8.  It was not the original driver, but once we upgraded to that operating system, the print out was screwing up, so upgrade solved that.  Follow the directions on the link.  It is  easy to do.

  • Slow Printing using AirPrint

I have a P1102w, Mac Mini with 10.9 and a Airport Extreme base station. After I set up the printer, the prints came through fast. After about 2 hours, I went to print a Noodles coupon and the print was in the queue for over 15 minutes. I cancelled the print and tried using my iPad. Same thing. I was using black and white, fast draft.
Why was the printer so slow to print? The green status light was blinking so the print was processing.
Is there anything I can do to speed up printing when this happens?
After the coupon printed, the other print requests came through fast.

    Hi @allsea,
I see by your post that you are having slow printing issues using the Airprint driver. I can help you with this.
When the printer is connected to a wireless network, low signal quality or interference might be delaying print jobs.
Make sure printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.
    Restart the router.
Since the printer is already on the network, just follow these steps to install the printer driver name instead of using the Airprint driver.
Connect the printer by a USB cable temporarily and run the Apple Updates.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name and click the - button to delete that Airprint driver.
    Then disconnect the USB cable.
Then click on the + sign and select Add Other Printer or Scanner.
Highlight your printer, under Use: make sure it shows your printer name instead of Airprint. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in)
Then click on the add button.
    Test the printer.
I would setup a static ip for the printer. Follow Step six: Assign your HP product a static IP address from the document.
The Printer is Not Found During Wireless Installation. Disregard the title.
Here is a You tube video of the Laserjet P1102w full wireless installation on Maverick, instead of using the Apple Airprint driver. Laserjet P1102w. For future use.
You may follow the steps instead of watching the video.
Have to connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer.
Install the printer as a USB device first and then configure the wireless network.
Turn the printer on, connect the USB cable and install the Apple Update that automatically loads.
Then go to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners.
Highlight the Laserjet on the left side of the window.
Then click on Open Print Queue, click on Settings, click on Utility, click on Open Printer Utility, then click on the HTML Config button.
The Embedded Web Server for the printer will open.
Click on the Networking tab, select Wireless on the left side.
Fill out this information for your network. Status make sure you select Enabled.
    Apply the settings.
Then go back to Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners and click the + sign to add the Laserjet bonjour printer.
(might take a couple of minutes to appear)
Delete the USB printer from the list from the Printers and Scanners window.
Disconnect the USB cable and try and print.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • HP Laserjet 4100 will not print in Snow Leopard

Since I’ve installed Snow Leopard, I have not been able to print with my HP Laserjet 4100.
My set-up: new 24” iMac, many hard drives and more. Two devices: HP Color Laserjet 5550 and HP Officejet J5750 are connected to the iMac through a USB Hub. Although initially scanning did not work with the J5750, I was able to make that work once additional drivers were downloaded from HP. Both work fine.
I also have an older HP Laserjet 4100 which has been my steady workhorse for years. It only has Ethernet and serial port outlets. It is connected to an AT&T 2-Wired Ethernet Hub/DSL Modem (model 2701HG-B) that is connected to the iMac.
I’ve contacted HP and Apple about this problem. None of the three people I worked with at Apple could help and the HP representative was unsure if they could help but that it would cost me $40 to find out. According to HP website, since Apple Talk no longer exists, we are required to input the IP for the device. For the 4100, the IP address is 10.0.1.100. I tried this two ways: in the “Add Printer” window under “IP,” inputted as the IPP, and inputted as the HP Jetdirect Socket (as per the HP instructions). When this is done, the printer shows up when you give a print command. However, it does not show up in the “Add Printer” window under “default” or anywhere else.
Status: If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable directly to the back of the iMac, the “Supply” level indicates the true level of toner in the 4100. However, it will not print. If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet hub, the supply level does not show nor can I print.
    Any suggestions?

Well, another week has gone by without a solution.
    Again, here is the problem:
I have a 24" iMac connected to a USB hub and an AT&T 2-Wire DSL/ethernet hub. When I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and now the update 10.6.2, the two printers on the USB hub work fine but the HP Laserjet 4100dtn does not print. This old printer has only ethernet or serial ports. I've downloaded and installed the HP driver updates from Apple and HP to no avail. According to HP, I must add the 4100 manually using its IP. I've followed the instructions while adding a printer to select IP- HP Jetdirect - Socket. The address of the printer is 10.0.1.100. When I type this in, the window says that this is a valid and complete address. It searches and then says the "Print Using:" is a Generic PostScript Printer. The driver for this printer, I believe, should be "HP LaserJet 4100 Series v.3010.107" Regardless, when I click Add the window "Determining Installable Options" shows "Status: Connecting to printer..." It never establishes a connection.
The 2-Wire DSL/Ethernet Hub/Modem, has an IP of 192.1687.1.66, Submask 255.255.255.0 and Router (DNS) 192.168.1.254.
If I plug the ethernet cable directly from the printer to the iMac, the supply level shows correctly but will not print. If I plug the ethernet cable from the printer to the 2-Wire and then to the iMac, it neither shows supply level nor prints.
Any suggestion as to how to fix this problem? (I've been on the phone with 3 different Apple respresentatives and 1 HP representative with no success.)

  • HP Laserjet 2550L Won't Print In Color

I recently upgraded to Leopard, and now my HP Laserjet 2550L will not print in color. I've tried printing for several different apps, but they always come out in b & w. It does however print in color when printing a test page from the printer itself, so it must be a driver issue.
Currently I'm running with the "HP color Laserjet 2550 series" driver available via PPDPicker. I've also tried several other drivers listed there to see if by chance one of them would work, but to no avail. I downloaded and tried installing HP Laserjet v5.5.2.051 from HP's website, but I can't get it to install. Actually this driver doesn't even show up in PPDPicker, because for some reason it saves as a text file, which seems weird since the dmg file is about 17mb.
Anyway, this has been driving me nuts all night, so if anyone has a solution or suggestion, I'm all ears.
    Thanks.

I see you are having a print quality issue, no color on page, with your M251nw Laserjet.  You changed the toner cartridges and the printer is still not printing in color.  Have you tried taking all the color toner cartridges out of the printer and reseating them to make sure they are secure in their positions?
As well, I would advise taking a look at the document linked below.  It will walk you through the process for troubleshooting a print quality issue with this printer.

  • Getting Darker Blacks from My HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer

Hi. I own an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer and am on a Windows XP system. For regular printing, it works great. However, for some graphic work I am doing, I can not get the blacks to print out dark enough. I can not find any settings on the print properties panel that would allow me to set a darker black coverage. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey,
I see you are having an issue with Air Print on your CP1525nw Color Laserjet Pro.  Have you tried a full network power cycle?
Unplug the router and printer while on
Power down the iOS device completely.  Check out the following link for how: http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/qt/turn_off_iphone.htm
    Wait 30 seconds
Power the router up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the printer up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the iOS device back up
It sounds like the network most likely lost communication with the bonjour service of the printer.
If you need to update the firmware of the CP1525nw please click the following link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=lj-86473-9&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

  • Hp laserjet p1102w won't print within cloud server

Please help! I have an HP LaserJet P1102w desktop printer connected via USB. It has worked fine until about a week ago when I had to have my computer wiped and the operating system reinstalled. I have Windows 7 64 bit OS. I reinstalled the printer, driver, and updated the firmware. It prints test pages and configuration pages just fine, as well as anything directly from my PC. This is an office computer connected directly to a private network using a cloud based server. I cannot print anything from within the cloud to my printer! I have looked through all of the forums and help sites and our IT people cannot assist me as this particular printer is on a list of hardware that they do not work with. As I mentioned, before the reinstallation it printed fine from the network, but now it doesn't seem to make the connection and I don't know what else to try, please help!

Hi , Thanks for posting in the HP Forums, and welcome!  +I not sure I understand exactly how you are trying to print, but as this printer is wireless, I think having it connected wirelessly to your network rather than USB to a single computer, might make all the difference. I'd recommend trying the steps in this document to configure your printer wirelessly:HP LaserJet Pro P1102w - Wireless Printer Setup You'll also want to make sure your web services is enabled on the printer. 1. Print a Network Configuration Page.2. Type the IP address that shows up on your configuration page into the address bar of your browser on your computer.3. Click the tab at the top that says Web Services.4. You will have either a Setup or Enable button, click this. Hope this helps!
