I have recently purchased a Laserjet M2727nf. I need this printer to function as a network device only, since there are no PCs with 20 meters.
How do I configure faxing from this device so that I can operate with the Scan To button? I read an article that said this was not possible?
Can I scan to email over the network?
Can I scan to a network shared over the network?
What are the disadvantages of not having USB conectivity?

The scan to device is ment to be used to scan on the Printer and send it to a particular PC buy setting up the printer to know your computer name,thats how it tells one computer from another becuase it couldn't do it with ip addresses because DHCP ip assignment always changes the address. You should have a fax setup in the start menu in the printer folder,it should have configured that when you installed the software on the pc but you can do it yet.And it must be done on every pc.I don't know about scanning to a network share.This printer was designed to be a part of the network attached by ethernet not to do that is to hamper the full use of it.

LaserJet M2727nf wireless scanning_Windows 8.1

Hi,
I have faced a problem recently with Laser Jet M2727nf.
The device is connected to the laptop with Windows 8.1 by means of wireless network (Jet is connected to the wifi router).
Printing is working smoothly, the problem is with the scanning.
First of all there is no HP toolbox which was used in Windows 7, which is very sad and
default Windows program does not want to scan saying "scanners are not found".
Do you have a solution for this?

HP Laserjet M2727nf - Firmware not loading to Printer

My printer display was not working so I ordered a new one. But as I read some postings it seems to be by formatter board. I baked the formatter board. After I baked it, the display would show: Hewitt Packard >>>>>. I did the below
but the firmware utility update is not going to the printer. The display shows ***BootDimm*** Ready 2 download.
I have left the jumper on and have taken it off to upload the firmware to the printer. Nothing has happened.   I have not even seen the display changing to erasing firmware, then programing firmware.
I baked the board and it started to work. I then Download the firmware utility update for my printer.  I Removed the printer left cover. Turned the printer on while it’s was connected by usb. Jumper or short the 2 pin connector - the display read "ready to load firmware". I heard the printer usb driver connect / initialize in windows-
Next I started the HP firmware update utility, select your printer from drop down list.   However the display did not change to erasing firmware, then programing firmware; finally it will display "firmware rom upload complete" - or something close to that. The computer did do this: the progress bar on the firmware update utility in windows completed and displayed the smiley face (about 3 min). Then I turned the printer off - unpluged it and disconnect the usb cable from the printer. It did not load. So where did I go wrong.

Apple included the Gimp-Print driver "HP Laserjet 6 Series" for that printer. Does that show up?

HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP - PCL XL Error - is this repairable?

This printer works fine offline - it copies and prints reports in duplex with no problem ... but gets an error (locks up) and no longer prints from the computer. It has worked fine for the last year, since I purchased it as a refurbished printer from HP. It seemed to deteriorate shortly before it failed completely.
Is this repairable... (I was able to get the following printout once, but can't figure out how I did that!)

implies that the incoming print job includes a tag which is not supported by the protocol.
To find out just what is wrong with the print stream would almost certainly require access to the source code (specifically module Kernel.c) of the firmware in the printer - available only to HP (or whoever was contracted to write the firmware).
In earlier generations of LaserJet printer, the format of the error message (as per the PCL XL specification) was somewhat different; for example:
PCL XL Error
Subsystem: Kernel
Error: IllegalTag
Operator: SetFont
Position: 43
which could be used to discover the underlying fault by reprinting the document using 'print to file', then analysing the resultant .prn file, and finding the data associated with the relevant PCL XL Operator tag (which, in the above example, would be the 43rd operator in the print job).
Although the new format of error message is possibly more useful to HP in determining the cause of the error (their having access to the source code of the firmware), it would have been very useful to independant consultants if the original Operator tag and Position elements of the error had also been included.
If you get exactly the same error if you reprint the same document to the same printer, using the same application and print driver on the same workstation, then the fault is likely to be a driver error, in which case the only solution may be to use a different printer driver (if one is available).
If doing a reprint as per above produces a different error (or no error at all), then the problem is intermittent, and is more likely to be caused by corruption of the print job between workstation and printer; check (perhaps by replacing one item at a time) cables, ports, switches, hubs, etc.

My hp laserjet m2727nf will not work until i shut off power and power back on.

My laserjet will not work until i power off then power on after every printing job. It first started happening over the weekend when it sat idle for 2 days. Then it was once a day and now every time i need to print. What could be the problem?

So i didn't read anything about the suggestion about the configuration report?
I would recommand turning off wireless (if it has it), unplugging usb, unplugging network cable, unplugging fax cable. Then i would reboot the printer go to the Menu and in Reports try to print a "Configuration Report".
If it still doesn't print i would unfortunately then may be try resetting it back to factory default. perhaps there is some setting that is causing this issue. Also causes printer to fully reinitialize itself. There should be a button in the menu and setup to set back to defaults.
Let me know if any of that helps and what the results of trying to print an internal report are.

But I cannot my MAC to recognize the scanner. I am attached over a network. When I go to Printer Setup, the driver shows up as version 16.1. Do I have the right driver?
It prints just fine and I can see the printer webpage. How can I get scanner to work?

How can I install a software like the old "HP Laser scanjet" that works on Windows 8.1 - 64 ?
Please, do not send only a link to hp drivers update webpage, I need an easy way to install the software I had on my cd and now it's not posttible to install with the new operative system.

OS 10.6.8 compatibility with HP Laserjet M2727 nf

I have recently updated to a new iMac with OS 10.6.8. Problem is that the scanning function of my HP Laserjet M2727nf does not seem to be available. Worked fine with 10.5. Any suggestions?

One of the links in the "More Like This" section to the right has this link to an update of the full software and mentions that after installing this update the scanning was working again.

MacBook pro crashed randomly after upgrade to 10.8.5

My MacBook pro has crashed repeatly since upgrading earlier this week.

If yours is a 15" MacBook Pro 6,2, there is a recall program in place for it. It is described in this article:

PRINT out a copy of the article as a hedge against "we never heard of this." and take it to your appointment at the genius bar. Do not leave until they have run the special VST test that ends in a remarkable PASSED or FAILED screen. [The typical "overnight bake" will not find this problem].
N.B.> Even if the problem is detected, the time for free replacement may have already passed.
If they refuse to accept it for free repair under the program, the store manager may have additional latitude to help you. You MUST be polite and professional at all times. Apple wants you to be a happy customer. Folks who shout and threaten to sue everyone will never be a happy customer, so all they get is to be shown the door.
If the time has expired and you are not willing to pay for the repair yourself, downgrading Mac OS X will make the problem far less likely to occur.

Adobe Reader 11 "choose paper source by pdf page size" does not work

I have a user that utilizes the "choose paper source by pdf page size" option when printing a PDFs. He has a PDF that has a letter sized page and a legal sized page.
I recently upgraded his Adobe Reader from 10 to 11 and now that option isn't working for him. The printer is an HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP.
Are their any bugs regarding that feature in the new Adobe Reader?

If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

M2727nf_duplex printing using Tray-2 does not work

My laserjet M2727nf has been working fine for the last 5 years. However, after I upgraded to Yosemite (Mac OSX 10.10) recently, duplex printing gives me strange problems.
a. Duplex printing from Tray 1 works fine, however,
b. With tray 2, when I choose duplex printing option, first it prints the page#2, and then it prints the page#1 on a different paper. Also while printing the page#1 on a 2nd paper, it mimicks (rotates the paper) as if it's prinitng page # 2 again. But effectively, it does not print both pages on one paper, but it prints two pages on 2 papers.
I tried several solutions usch as installing the new HP mac driver 3.0 again, and removing all the presets again creating the new ones. However, none of these measures have not solved my problem.
Any help in this regard is sincerely appreciated.
