HP LaserJet P1102w can't establish wireless connection

I am trying to establish a wireless connection between my Mac (OS X 10.7.5) and printer. I have followed the instructions on the hp website, up to the point where I open "Open Printer Utility" and click on "HTMLConfig". However, every time I click on "HTMLConfig", the window closes and takes me back to the printer set-up window.
Is there another way I can connect wirelessly? Are there settings somewhere else I need to change?
Thanks

Hi @jaudrey,
Sorry to hear you are having issues setting up the printer on the wireless network. I can help you out with that today.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Issues with the HTML config not opening, please do the following steps:
Close any applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, computer, MAC harddrive, Library, Printers, HP, LaserJet, click on folder for your printer, click on EWS browser or HTML config, it should open up the Embedded Web Server for the printer to configure the wireless, then click the Networking tab, click wireless on the left and fill out your information. (make sure infrastructure is selected and alpha or numeric is chosen) Apply settings.
You should get a solid blue light on the printer in about 1 minute.
Then delete the USB driver and add the network printer:
Click on the Apple.
Click system preferences.
Click the print and scan icon.
Highlight the printer and click on the - sign to delete the printer. (USB driver)
Disconnect the USB cable.
Then click the + sign and select the printer from the list and click add. (P1102w bonjour)
Test the printer.
If you are having issues getting a IP address, check your network Encrytion type.
Go go to the Apple/system preferences/network/click the advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)
To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select applications, utilities, keychain access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password, type in your Mac password to view it.
(some networks have a shortcut password setup)
Let me know how you make out.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • Can't establish wireless connection between the printer and computer.

I recently upgraded my wireless to an Apple AirPort Time Capsule. I'm able to set up the printer via USB cable. And I'm able to set up the printer on the network via the Airport WPA utility. However I cannot establish a wireless connection between the computer and the printer. When I go to the printers window  in my system prefereces, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. Only the USB version printer is listed and of course when I disconnect the USB cable it shows as offline.I've tried all the fixes on HP's support pages. I've tried reinstalling the printer on both the router and the computer numerous times. The only thing I haven't done is reinstall the printer using the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download). And when I reset the printer to factory settings, then connect it to the computer via the USB, there is no installation software that pops up. Cant even find the **bleep** thing in "Finder". (I'm assuming that it should show up as some sort of external device.) I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network. (sometimes my computer will grab a connection with the next nearest network.) I've checked all the settings for the printer via the HTML configuration utility. I've even updated my Macbook software and restarted it multiple times. Note: the printer actually worked for a bit when I first switched routers, but the printer's wireless function went offline several times and then quit  altogether. Really frustrated that I bought another HP product thinking this time things would be different. HP is no help unless you want to pay $$ for a phone call. I'm about ready to take this thing out in the desert to use for target practice and never buy another HP product ever again.

Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with your LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer not showing on your Macintosh computer. I may have found some resources for you.
I have a few questions for you, so I can offer some additional assistance:Before you upgraded to the Apple AirPort Time Capsule, was the printer working wirelessly without any issues?
When you say; 'I reset the printer to factory settings', how where you trying to do this?
I found some instructions from this post: How do I reset my Laserjet p1102w to its defaults, copied here for you:
To restore the printer back to factory settings, turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and the cancel button (x button) then turn the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise. (When they say turn the printer off, I think they mean unplug the power cable.)
"I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network."  Do you know if you are able to access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)?To access the EWS - Make sure that the Ready light () is on and that the printer is idle and silent.Press and hold the Cancel button (), and release it when the Ready light () begins blinking. The configuration page prints.Type the IP address or host name of the product in the address field of a supported Web browser, and then press Enter on your keyboardLet me know if this page loads
To answer a few more items you have listed:... When I go to the printers window in my system preferences, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. This could be an issue with your print system, I recommend resetting the printing system and then Repair Disk Permissions - after that try to add the printer again.
... the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download)HP provides their software/drivers to Apple to be released through your Apple software updates. You can review this document on how to Install a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update. Which leads into your next point...
... there is no installation software that pops upWhen you connect the USB cable your mac may still recognize the printer software as being already installed - check for apple updatesOn the Mac, click the Apple menu (), and then click Software Update, or click About this Mac, and then click Software Update. A list of available updates displays.
... Not seeing the printer in "Finder" From what I understand most printers will not show in Finder unless you install a memory card into a supported port on certain printer models, only then will it read it like an external device. A few more things you can check are that the new settings in the Apple AirPort Time Capsule are setup to allow the printer to communicate. There are several of these settings listed in this document; Tips and Workarounds for Common Wireless Network Printer Issues.  HP regularly releases firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. • Laserjet p1102w does not maintain wireless connection with macbook pro

Above product was set up and working.  If it sits idle for awhile it does not print.  I have to click on WiFi signal, select hpsetup, then after that is complete reselect my network and then it prints.  Printed self test page - device is 'connected'.  Running OS 10.7.3

Yes.  I had troubles getting it to work originally and I had to talk to someone at HP who helped me with it.  We ended up setting it up manually and it worked fine; but if I don't use it for awhile it will not print.  Actually that is not entirely true.  Once in awhile it will - about 10% - but most of the time it will not unless I do the above.

  • Laserjet p1102w can't connect to the network

I am trying to connect my laserjet p1102w printer to the wireless network, numerous times, and it still won't work! I have chatted with hp for three times already, uninstalled and installed software, and looked at the manual from cover to cover. Can anyone please help me connect my computer to the network, anything I have tried does not work.

Well now we know what the issue is.  You are not connection to your wireless router via SSID and password.
    Go here.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?product=4110396&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
and download the Getting Started and User guide.  Page 7 of the User guide is where you want to start.  You may have already done all this... but you have not detailed anything yet so I don't know.  Keep the USB cable disconnected and start the CD.  It should prompt you to plug in the USB cable.  If not, plug the USB cable in and start the CD again.  Now detail each step and let us know where it fails at please.

ARD only works with Windows computers if the Windows computer is running VNC server software.  Even then it can only control and observe.  Do you have this installed?

  • Windows performed an automatic update. I am now unable to use Firefox. I receive an error message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server". Windows IE works, Outlook works. What did Microsoft do to me this time?!!!

Windows performed an automatic update on my PC this morning. Now, Firefox does not work other than in SAFE mode. I get "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server..." I downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of Firefox and get the same error message. IE works. MS Outlook works. What did Windows do to me this time?

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies using either of these. Save any pending work first.
While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
