HP LaserJet P1102w USB install issue

I just purchased the printer and am having a very hard time getting the printer to connect. The USB is connected to my laptop, I can hear the noise on my laptop signaling that something new has connected to it. However in the installation process, it still says waiting for the device to connect.
The install CD doesnt automatically play even though i have followed the autoplay instructions....
I get through the cd to where it prompts you to install the software and it says plug in the USB and even though I plug it in, nothing happens.... I need this printer for work and I am getting very frustrated that something that should be so simple is just simply not working....
It also keeps turning off... or going idle im not sure.....
VERY frustrating experience, hoping someone can help me through this.

I see that you are experiencing issues installing the printer. When the printer is connected by a USB cable, it isn't being recognized. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Print a hardware self test on the printer, to rule out a hardware issue.
Printing a Configuration Page.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet. Try another USB port on the computer.You might have to try another USB cable.
Follow the steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for the printer entries.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.
In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for USB printing support, right click and update the driver. (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected) If it won't update remove the USB Printing Support and if you have USB mass storage device, right click and uninstall it. If you have any others with exclamation mark or other devices in the list, delete them also.
Let me know what it showed in the device manager.
Then click on Action across the top and scan for new hardware to try and install the software and drivers.
If you are still having issues, uninstall the software from the CD.
Check the power management on the Laptop.
Go into the Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, for each USB Root Hub, right click USB Root Hub and left click on Properties, for Power Management remove the check mark for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". It allows the computer to limit or turn off power for this device.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Then ran a clean boot in Windows and temporarily turn off any Antivirus Software, to make sure it isn't interfering with the install. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Install the newest drivers. HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Drivers.
Test the printer.

I'm using an old HP LaserJet P1102w - I installed the drivers and the software, and when I connect to my computer, nothing happens. I see by your post you are having some issues printing from the Mac. I can help you, but I will need some more information.
The driver "Generic PCL Printer", wouldn't be the correct driver using the Laserjet P1102w.
If you are using 10.8 or 10.9, the drivers are installed by the Apple Updates.
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.
If you are using 10.7 or lower the drivers can be downloaded from this link.
HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Drivers.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.

How is the printer connected? (USB/Wireless)

Hp Laserjet P1102W Wireless issue

I have an HP Laserjet P1102W. My issue is that I just upgraded my router and I have three computers all tied on. No problem with the network. I tried to print wirelessly with the printer and all I get is error messages. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. When it comes to the wireless install I connect the usb cable and it connects to the wireless network but when getting the ip address stage it keeps saying printer is connnected to the wireless network but printer cannot communicate with the computer. I tried a straight usb conncection and no problems whatsoever. Can someone tell me what could cause this. Also the operating system is Windows XP. Thanks for any help.

Is the computer it was installed on connected to the wireless network?
The computer being connected by Ethernet to the network is the most likely cause of the issue you are experiencing.
What brand and model is the router?

HP LaserJet p1102w with Mac OS X10.6.8 HTML config issue

Hello,
I have been using this printer for a few years now and have moved house a few times and successfully updated the wireless settings on the printer through HTML config. Lately, in printer utilities the HTML config button does not show up where it is meant to.
I have installed / uninstalled the latest firmware, software drivers, printers and made sure they were platform specific.
This is really annoying.
Is there old software available for download? it was working fine until the recent update - which I did so I could use the eprint features.

From the name of the printer, it looks like you have it installed through a USB connection.
Here is what I would. First go into “System Preferences” and then select either “Print & Scan” or "Print & Fax".
Right click (or control + click) on the rectangle listing your printers and then select “Reset Printing System”.
NOTE: This will delete all printers.
After you have reset the printing system, let's make sure you have the most recent HP driver package installed.

Once you have downloaded the driver package and completed the installation, go into your print settings under System Preferences > Print & Scan. To add the printer, click the plus (+) sign. You should see your printer listed here. If not, click "Add Printer or Scanner." Click the name of your printer and then click "Use:” box. Make sure that says the name of your printer and not AirPrint. Next make sure that the printer "Kind:" is set to Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction. Click "Add" down in the bottom right hand corner.
This will add your printer back using the most recent HP print driver available through Apple. Let me know if this helps resolve your issue or not. If it doesn't, let me know I will see what else I can do.

Laserjet p1102w fails to install

At first this printer(HP Laserjet 1102W) was great, installed and everything was fine. Then we moved and Centurylink changed my router. First my IPAD wouldn't hook up but we fixed that by changing the router "channel' to 11. Well now, I can't even get the printer to install on my computer (I know the router doesn't have anything to do with the computer intallation failure).
So, anyway, running Windows 7, 64 bit, have started and restarted, booted and rebooted computer and printer, reset network endpoints on printer, uninstalled the previous versions of the printer. used the CD, not used the CD, gone to the website and got the software directly off the web- nope- still won't install. Goes through the whole process and then I get a pop up that says Printer intallation failed. No printer was installed.
Usually I just have issues with getting it connected wireless but TODAY I can't even get it installed! This has never been an issue before. I have also even turned my Firewall off in case it was blocking something (like it was before during the wireless installation) but Nope, not the answer!
I really need to get some stuff printed. Even if I have to use the midevil USB cord!
Any help is appreciated!

I see you are having an installation issue with your Laserjet P1102w. I am guessing that this printer was installed previously on this computer, but now you need to reinstall to connect the printer back to your new network. Is this correct?
If so, have you gone through the process of uninstalling the previously installed software already? If so, then I would advise checking the Print Server Properties of the PC to ensure the driver has been removed for the printer. This can hang up many printer installations.
Click on the Start menu of the Windows 7 PC
Select the Devices and Printers folder
Click on any of the available printers in the list
Click on the option for Print Server Properties at the top of the window
Select the Drivers tab
Delete any drivers remaining for the P1102w in the list
Once the printer has been completely removed and software uninstalled, then I would download the latest drivers from the HP website and re-install. Click the link below to access the downloads page for Windows 7 and the P1102w.

Installing wireless HP LaserJet P1102W on a MACbook Pro 10.9

This is a new printer and install. I cannot figure out how to get it to print wireless. Prints fine with USB cable. Do I need a different driver or ???

I can help you with setting up the printer over the wireless network with Maverick.
I have provided the steps to also check the Encryption and Password for the network:
Check your network Encryption type:
Go go to the Apple/system preferences/network/click the advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)
To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select applications, utilities, keychain access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password,type in your Mac password to view it.
(some networks have a shortcut password setup)
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Delete the printer from Printers and Scanners. Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Mac and add the printer again. Make sure it shows just the printer name, you might have to click on the dropdown to select the printer from the list. (Laserjet P1102w) You might have to run the Apple Updates.

Then go to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners.
Highlight the Laserjet on the left side of the window.
Then click on Open Print Queue, click on Settings, click on Utility, click on Open Printer Utility, then click on the HTML Config button.
The Embedded Web Server for the printer will open.
Click on the Networking tab, select Wireless on the left side.
Fill out the information for your network. Make sure infrastructure is selected. Status: make sure you select Enabled.
Apply the settings.
Then go back to Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners and click the + sign to add the Laserjet bonjour printer. (might take a couple of minutes to appear)
Delete the USB printer from the list from the Printers and Scanners window.
Disconnect the USB cable and try and print.

Can't install driver for HP laserjet p1102w

I have a HP laserjet p1102w installed on my network wirelessly. It was working fine, but then I had to set up the network anew.
Now I can't get it to work on one of our macbooks. The other one works fine, they both run 10.7.5
I tried to remove the printer from the list and install the driver again from scratch. I downloaded the newest driver from HP, installed it, and upgraded the printer firmware (using the other laptop). When i click the + in the printer list, the printer shows up, and then i get the message to configure it, saying that the software is available from Apple. It seems to download, and then says the software is not available at this point, telling me to get the newest software from the printer manufacturer. Which is what I did in the first place.
I tried this several times, also tried repairing permissions, that didn't help.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would greatly appreciate help, have spent a few hours trying to figure this out to no avail.

HP Laserjet P1102w by USB "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer"

My HP Laserjet P1102w used to work fine with OS X10.10. Then it started saying "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer" whenever I switched it on, but the printer still worked. This morning it didn't. I uninstalled the printer, but can't re-install it - it isn't listed when I click "+". I have tried a different USB cable, and a different USB port - same message. The HP website does not provide a downloadable driver, as far as I can see. What do I do? (The wireless connection to the printer stopped working ages ago. The printer still works with our two PCs via USB.)

Repairing the disk permissions can be done as following:
1. Open the the Applications folder.
2. Go to the Utilities folder.
3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the process has been completed.
Next reboot your Mac and try plugging the USB again.
If the same persist, a such may also happen due to a conflict with the HP Smart Install feature which is Windows Based only and being wrongly read by the Mac, in order to resolve a such a Windows based PC will be required. any laptop should meet the purpose, the printer will be installed automatically by connecting the USB.
Next update and install the latest firmware below:

Install LaserJet P1102w on network error

I am trying to enable my HP LaserJet P1102w printer to print wirelessly from my Chromebook.
I have successfully gotten the Chromebook to print while having my other computer connected - but would like to just print straight from the Chromebook.
I am in Chrome on my MacBook Pro v. 10.6.8 and got this error message when I click "HTML Configuration":

How to install HP Laserjet P1102w without a disk?

I have a Dell Notebook running MS XP and I want to install my HP LaserJet P1102w which was previously installed on a laptop that has died.
The notebook does not have a CD drive. How can I link the printer to this computer.

HP Laserjet P1102w issues with Mac Os x Maverix

I recently brought a Macbook Pro and managed to connect it to my HP Laserjet P1102w wireless printer however, It doesn't seem to print any type of documents (wirelessly or wired) other than the printers status information such as pages printed and toner levels etc ...
My printer is connected to my network as it says so on the status pages which and I also have a PC which seems to print out documents and images fine wired and wireless. I've also tried reinstalling the printer driver and resetting the printer to default factory settings but nothing seems to work.

I understand you are unable to print on the Maverick.
I will be happy to help you.
If the printer is still setup on the wireless network with a valid IP address
then make sure the Mac is on the same network as the Pc.
Check to see what driver you are using.
Click on the Apple, click system and preferences, click the print & scan icon,
highlight the printer, on the right side it should say what driver is installed.
(if the Airprint driver is being used it is the Apple preinstalled driver, delete it and add the printer's name)
Try printing now.

HP Laserjet p1102w - after firmware upgrade / Smart Install update - down to 1MB free memory

Hello,
I have a Laserjet p1102w running off a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. Just bought the printer this month.
After updating the firmware to 20120814 version and updating the SmartInstall update utility for the 20120814 version as well, I am now down to 1 MB free memory (out of 8MB originally). [Another LJ p1102w updated prior to these updates has 3MB free memory.]
Because I have 1MB free memory, the printer is almost a brick. It can print simple text based pages - however, printing any page with a graphic or a PDF file will cause the printer to take forever to receive data - essentially preventing printing a page on my new printer (while printing the same page instantaneously on my older nonupdated p1102w).
Is there any way to fix this problem, given there is no memory upgrade option? Otherwise, this printer is a brick.

Did you tried turning the printer off and on after updating the firmware? This should clear its memory, including any memory may affected during the firmware upgrade proccess .

HP LaserJet Pro PW1102W Networking Issue

Hi,
We had some issue with our network provider recently and now back online however the wireless function on the printer does not work. I have tried following numerous steps outlined online with no luck, details below.
Actions Taken:
1) Uninstall / Reinstall Printer Driver
2) Restore to Factory Settings
3) Re configure Wirless settings through plugging in to USB and accessing localhost
4) Restoring Printer Manually
It seems the USB works fine but the IP addresses on the localhost are 192.. which suggest it cannot connect to the internet. I no longer have the installation CD but I have no idea what else I can try to resolve this issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I see that you are having issues installing the printer over the network. I would be happy to help you.
The software for the printer is installed by the Apple Updates. Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update.
Here are some settings to check on the router:
If it is set to 5 GHZ network you may need to change to 2.4 GHZ. (rename the 5ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.
If you use Mac address on the router, you will have to add the printer.
Make sure there are no spaces or special characters being used for the network name, the printer may not recognize it.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. Sometime the Embedded Web Server won't open if it isn't.
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.

Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.

Highlight the Laserjet on the left side of the window.
Then click on Open Print Queue, click on Settings, click on Utility, click on Open Printer Utility, then click on the HTML Config button. If it doesn't open, delete and add the printer back in again. Make sure when your adding the printer it shows the printer name. (Laserjet P1102w)

Just upgraded to mountain lion and my HP Laserjet p1102W won't connect

Just upgraded to mountain lion and my HP Laserjet p1102W to print (worked fine via USB with Snow Leopard; I never had set it up wirelessly, though had wanted to do so.) HP site said if printer worked with Snow Leopard nothing would need to be done; update of drivers would be automatic within Mountain Lion upgrade. No such luck. My Macbook Pro and HP Printer are not talking to each other. HELP, please!

When I tried to print, I was told to get new drivers from HP. HP site says what I wrote above, that I need do nothing if printer worked with Snow Leapord. Also read that a new HP Laserjet would need to be connected only via Airprint. So, I have deleted the printer from the print queue, thinking that might help, but I can't find how to install it via Airprint?? After deleting the printer and having no luck with connecting wirelessly, I tried plugging in USB from printer to MacBook pro, too, thinking maybe that would help, but there is no recognition at all.
What am I missing???

Connect the printer to your Wireless Network and use Bonjour to detect nd connect it.
That's wrong. AirPrint is not just for iOS devices. Since HP doesn't provide drivers for this printer, they say to use AirPrint:
