HP LaserJet P1102w Wireless setup

So I'm currently living on camus, and I had finishing building my own desktop, without CD reader. And my printer is in no position of reaching my USB ports for my desktop. I'm trying to setup my printer for wireless printing, but my campus uses, Myresnet. Basically in order to setup / allow things to use wifi here I need to put in their MAC address. Anyone know how to find the MAC Address AND set up my wireless printing WITHOUT the CD? Also I do not have my manual / recipe. It's been several months, and previously I was using my laptop to print via wired cable, but it seems tedious to plug in my laptop and print things on that. If it can't be done. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet.

Hi @VertTeaCal ,
I understand that you would like to setup the printer over the wireless network, but you need the Mac Address for the printer. I would be happy to help you out today.
You can get that information by Printing a Configuration Page.
I have provided a document for Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless Network for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
that you may take a look at.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • Hp Laserjet P1102W Wireless issue

I have an HP Laserjet P1102W.  My issue is that I just upgraded my router and I have three computers all tied on. No problem with the network.  I tried to print wirelessly with the printer and all I get is error messages.  So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.  When it comes to the wireless install I connect the usb cable and it connects to the wireless network but when getting the ip address stage it keeps saying printer is connnected to the wireless network but printer cannot communicate with the computer.  I tried a straight usb conncection and no problems whatsoever.  Can someone tell me what could cause this.  Also the operating system is Windows XP.  Thanks for any help.

Is the computer it was installed on connected to the wireless network?
The computer being connected by Ethernet to the network is the most likely cause of the issue you are experiencing.
What brand and model is the router?

  • HP Laserjet P1102w wireless connection/print issues. Unreliable connection

I have this printer in a business public wifi network with bonjour enabled. I installed this printer wirelessly, but any time I print to it, it takes minutes before the printer will actually receive and print the job.
I have found that power cycling the printer starts the print job faster, however I would like to be able to avoid having to do this every time. I cannot see this printer from other computers, or at the IP address it has registered, either. Only in the small window of printing the job does it actually appear on the wireless network, then it seems to disappear again. If I try pinging the printer I get a response saying it was not found. Unless I ping during a print job in which case it replies with all packets sent/received correctly.
I am using Windows 7 32bit, have installed the latest printer firmware, etc.
The blue WiFi light on the printer is usually off or flickering, but not really ever solid for more than a few seconds.

Sounds like the printer is having trouble stabilizing on the network.  Try following the steps in this document to stabalize the printer's wireless connection.  You can also try updating the firmware to improve the connectivity.  Let me know what happens.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w Wireless Printing - Frozen at Password

I've got the firmware and I can get to the page that lets me choose my wireless network and input my password. However, when I put in the password, the entire page just freezes - I never get to a confirmation page, and if I reload, it hasn't updated my wireless password.
    Thoughts?

    Hi @stralins.
I understand that after putting in your Encryption information the printer's Embedded Web Server is locking up. I can help you with this, but I will need some more information so I can provide you the proper steps.
What operating system are you using?
How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Print a configuration page to  see if the  printer has a IP address or SSID.
If the wireless is still flashing on the printer, then restore the printer defaults.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.
(hold down the x button and when the printer makes a noise let go)
After the reset, disconnect the routers power cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable.
    Wait till it's ready.
Try entering the Encryption information again. (if you are on a Mac, set Safari as the default browser)

  • Installing wireless HP LaserJet P1102W on a MACbook Pro 10.9

This is a new printer and install. I cannot figure out how to get it to print wireless. Prints fine with USB cable. Do I need a different driver or ???

    Hi @SueFox56431 ,
I can help you with setting up the printer over the wireless network with Maverick.
I have provided the steps to also check the Encryption and Password for the network:
    Check your network Encryption type:
Go go to the Apple/system preferences/network/click the advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)
To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select applications, utilities, keychain access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password, type in your Mac password to view it.
(some networks have a shortcut password setup)
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Delete the printer from Printers and Scanners. Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Mac and add the printer again. Make sure it shows just the printer name, you might have to click on the dropdown to select the printer from the list. (Laserjet P1102w) You might have to run the Apple Updates.
Here is a Youtube video of the Laserjet P1102w wireless installation on Maverick.
    Laserjet P1102w.
You may follow the steps instead of watching the video if you like.
Then go to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners.
Highlight the Laserjet on the left side of the window.
Then click on Open Print Queue, click on Settings, click on Utility, click on Open Printer Utility, then click on the HTML Config button.
The Embedded Web Server for the printer will open.
Click on the Networking tab, select Wireless on the left side.
Fill out the information for your network. Make sure infrastructure is selected. Status: make sure you select Enabled.
    Apply the settings.
Then go back to Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners and click the + sign to add the Laserjet bonjour printer. (might take a couple of minutes to appear)
Delete the USB printer from the list from the Printers and Scanners window.
Disconnect the USB cable and try and print.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • Hp LaserJet P1102w 'Printer may be out of toner' message

My printer was working (almost) fine with a regular USB wired setup from my MacBook Pro, when I upgraded my OS to Yosemite it began to claim 'Printer may be out of toner' so I installed a new cartridge (needed one anyway) and the same issue arises. I've tried reinstalling it, reseting to factory defaults etc. but to no avail. I'm now trying to connect it to the Wireless Network in the hope it might print from there but not as yet. Any help much appreciated...

    Hi @bpnwainwright ,
I understand that you are getting a error that the "Printer may be out of toner", since upgrading to Yosemite. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Since the printer was working properly before upgrading to Yosemite, most likely it is just a driver issue.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer just to rule out a hardware issue.
    Printing a Configuration Page.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side delete the driver,  then click the + sign to add a new driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Try printing by the USB connection.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
I have also provided the steps for setting up the printer over the wireless network.

  • HP Laserjet P1102w issues with Mac Os x Maverix

I recently brought a Macbook Pro and managed to connect it to my HP Laserjet P1102w wireless printer however, It doesn't seem to print any type of documents (wirelessly or wired) other than the printers status information such as pages printed and toner levels etc ...
My printer is connected to my network as it says so on the status pages which and I also have a PC which seems to print out documents and images fine wired and wireless. I've also tried reinstalling the printer driver and resetting the printer to default factory settings but nothing seems to work.
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Thanks !

    Hi Anil_94,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to print on the Maverick.
I will be happy to help you.
If the printer is still setup on the wireless network with a valid IP address
then make sure the Mac is on the same network as the Pc.
Check to see what driver you are using.
Click on the Apple, click system and preferences, click the print & scan icon,
highlight the printer, on the right side it should say what driver is installed.
(if the Airprint driver is being used it is the Apple preinstalled driver, delete it and add the printer's name)
    Try printing now.
Please let me know if you are still having issues.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w prints EXTREMELY slow over Wi-Fi

I've been struggling with this problem for a long time, but today this totally freaked me out. I was ready to throw away this piece of ..printer! Problem is simple. When I'm trying to print wirelessly something with graphics (jpeg pictures or photos) from my iPhone, iPad iOS 8.4 or MacBook OS X 10.10 Yosemite, it takes forever! Word document, PDF, from Preview or other programs - same result! I just couldn't pring 9 page document today, after 20 minutes I gave up. What's happening. Let's say I'm using mac. Print task goes to printer queue, as usual. After that, this task shows in queue as "connecting to printer", green light starts blinking on printer, as usual. This is taking a minute or two, that's what unusual. After that, "starting printing page 1". It can take 1, 2, 3 minutes... forever! Next, either ONE page actually prints (for 5-7 minute mark at this point) and it takes same time to print page two and so on, or (likely) it will spit out unfinished page (only couple of inches printed and the rest of the page is blank) and show an error, orange light blinking. UGH!!! I gave up on iPhone/iPad long time ago, since they can't show print queue and therefore it's unpredictable result. You can wait 10 minutes for your document, then leave, and later on just find the document printed when you no longer need it (or half of the document). I do not have this problem when printing just text, emails, simple confirmation pages from safari and so on. Only when printing document with graphics or heavy pdf. I do not have this problem when connecting printer via USB (discovered this today). Now what really bugs me, it's the fact that I was actually able to print heavy PDF from Windows machine with no problem, wirelessly (I did have problem printing exact same document from my mac). WHAT IS GOING ON?! I've googled this problem and found that I'm not alone. I've updated all software and firmware, I've tried to reset everything - NO DICE! This is really very frustrating. I was thinking this is because of small memory of the printer, but why it works perfectly via USB then? Anyway, this is a cry from the heart. Please help. The printer is good, but unusabe in some situations.

Hello ! Welcome to the HP Community.I hope you have a pleasant experience here! I'd like to help you with the slow printing that you are experiencing when printing images to your HP LaserJet P1102w wirelessly from your Apple devices. Thank you so much for the detailed description. Since the printer is able to print fine wirelessly from the windows machine, we know that the issue is not with the printer or the communication. The fact that none of the Apple devices are able to print images wirelessly without it being really slow, leads me to beleive it may be an Issue with the AirPrint driver or Bonjour protocol that your Apple devices use to communicate the information. Picture files are much larger, and a lot more data needs to be transmitted, so it is normal for them to take longer to print than a regular text document. However, if there is a marked difference in speed between the Windows computer and the Apple devices, then the issue is likely not just that the files are larger. I'd like to get you to make sure the printer is installed with the correct driver on your Mac. (Because there is no full feature HP software available for Mac 10.10 the operating system will often default to the AirPrint driver) Click the Apple icon on your Menu Bar.Select System Preferences.Select Printers and Scanners.Select your printer and then press the (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove it.Select the (+) and click Add Printers and Scanners. (NOTE: Do not select the printer from the list of Nearby printers as this will often automatically use the AirPrint driver)Select your printer (the one that shows Bonjour Multifunction under "Kind").At the bottom of the window under Use: does it say AirPrint? If so, click the drop down and you should see a specific driver for the printer. Click Add.Try printing an image again, and let me know the result. If this works to resolve the issue, then I would suggest downloading the HP ePrint app on your iPhone and iPad to print. It may be an incompatibilty issue between the AirPrint on your Apple devices and your router. I look forward to hearing back from you, and working towards a resolution for this issue.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w will only print wirelessly if I turn the printer off and on again

I have 2 Laserjet P1102w that work fine printing through USB.  However, I was hoping this printer could become the standard wireless printer for individual users in the office.  I have setup 2 different printers wirelessly with their own static, reserved IP addresses and they are connected to our wireless access point (WPA).  We have  all laptops that are connected to the network via the same access point as well as through hard wired ethernet.  In all cases, they are on the same subnet.
Once I connect any laptop to one of these printers wirelessly through either the "smart install" client or the latest regular installation exe off of HP's site, it will print fine initially.  However, whenever I undock the laptop or even just wait a few hours, the connection will be lost and I cannot print.  The queue just says "Error - Printing" when I print sometihng.  No errors in the logs.  The connection will come back if I turn off the printer and turn it back on.  This is very annoying and will probably not be acceptable to the users.
So I wanted to do more testing and connected both printers to my laptop wirelessly and made sure they could print successfully.  I opened 2 command windows and ran a ping -t on each IP address to see at what point the connection dies.  The ping will reply until I undock and go from hard wired / wireless to just wireless.. then it will say "Destination unreachable" and I can't even access the web interface. Even if I redock to hard wired / wireless, I still can't print unless I restart the printer.
This happens on 2 different laptops with 2 different p1102w printers.  Any clue as to what's going on here and how I can fix it?
    Edit:
If I have both wireless and nic enabled, once I undock the laptop, the ping -t changes from replying to the ip of the printer, to replying to the address of the wireless adapter with "Destination host unreachable".
    For example:
    IP of printer: 192.168.2.95
IP of wireless adapter on laptop: 192.168.2.25
    ping 192.168.5.95
    Reply from 192.168.2.95
    Reply from 192.168.2.95
    *undock"
Reply from 192.168.2.25 Destination Host Unreachable
Reply from 192.168.2.25 Destination Host Unreachable
This does not happen if I disabled the nic and run only off the wireless card.  So the workarounds are to either turn the printer off and back on if I undock every time, or disabled the nic.
At this point, I just want to understand why it is like this?

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.
    Hope that helps.

  • HP Laserjet P1102W not connecting to wireless network

    Hi,
yesterday I tried to install my new Laserjet P1102W with wireless capabilities. The first setup went fine and I was able to print wireless from my pc. But when the printer went in sleep mode I had to redo the wireless setup to get it connected.
So I searched for a possible firmware update on the Ducth HP site, found the lastest firmware (20110826) and followed the instruction to upgrade it. But the upgrade took more than 20 minutes, and th lights on the printer didn't blink. So I pressed the power button again to wake it up, printed a selftest page and did see that the firmware was updated.
But then the problems started, the printer only gets a 169. ip address while I've setup the wireless correctly (tried manual and automatic setup) while I expect it to get a 192. address. And ofcourse I cannot print anymore via the wireless connection.
So I tried to find an older firmware to put back on the printer, but with no luck. Also tried to re-apply the latest firmware, but then I get the message that the printer is already up to date.
Is there a possiblility to force the firmware update to run again? Or can I get an older firmware from HP?
    Best regards
    Rob

I had the same problem, I was able to connect into my wireless network when I installed the printer (using the CD that came with it) and was able to print but when I turned off the printer and turned it back on  it won't connect to my computer
and my wireless network.  I did the same thing you did reinstall but get that 169 IP address.  Believe me I was on the phone with the Geek Squad tech for almost 2 hours and the problem was not solved so he told me to just keep the printer on so I don't lose connection.  Same thing with the 1st HP tech support who tried to help me.  He even changed something in my internet security but did not solve the problem at all.  The second HP tech support worked on it too and finally told me that it could be my router.  I have an old Linksys wireless G router so I decided to buy a new router and bought the Netgear N600 WNDR34000v2 and reinstall the printer and everything worked fine.  Also before you install the printer driver be sure to uninstall the printer program (go to Control Panel-Programs and Features) and also disable your firewall because it could also cause problems in the installation.  Now all my 5 computers in my network are using the printer and I can turn it on and off with no problems at all in printing.

  • Trouble with getting the wireless to work with HP Laserjet P1102w printer

    Hi really struggling
I just bought the HP Laserjet P1102w as it was advised that it would run my apple products (Mac OS 10.6  Snow Leopard laptop and ipad).
I have mangaed to set up printer to work using the USB cable to the laptop. Success.
BUT i am finding it impossible to get it to work with wireless on any devices.
I get as far as network selection in set up and nothing is in the list (unlike USB which has the printer named) - so i click the 'create' button and input my network/SSID  code , which is a BTHub. I assume this is correct?  Or is it an address to be found elsewhere ?   I have downloaded driver and software (update HP Firmware utility)
which I believe to be correct from the HP.com website for the operating sytem of the mac.
I have also followed a number of videos but often the process does not follow the video sequences.
I have tried to speak to PC Word  'know how team' who sold me the printer but they had no knowledge at all to help this situation.   Any help would be much appreciated - this seems l ongoing problem for some other  users.

    Hi @bgriffiths60 ,
I understand that you are having issues setting up the printer over the wireless network. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
To check your network Encryption type, go to the Apple, System Preferences, Network, click the Advanced button/double click the network name.
Sometimes the Embedded Web Server won't open in other browsers.
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Restore the printer defaults: Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IPv4 address are cleared.
HP LaserJet Pro P1102 and P1106/P1108 Printer Series - Printing a Configuration Page.
Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Print and Fax.
    Double click on the P1102w.
    Open the Utility.
    Click Printer Setup.
    Click HTML config.
This should open the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
    Click the Networking tab.
Click Wireless from the list on the left.
Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure.
Select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list and then click the << button so the network name moves over to other box.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP, WPA/WPA2 or open . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Make sure you select either hexadecimal or alpha depending on your password. (very important)
