HP Laserjet P1505 printing issue

I am a PC person and MACs are new to me so I'm not sure how to get this printer to work at the office.
I've installed it and it will print one or two time and then everything gets stuck in the queue. I can't resume and end up having to delete the jobs, restart and try again. I've gone to the HP site and installed their driver and software but it still does the same thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a MAC newbie? Is there a better printer out there for the MAC than this one?

Hi snirpy, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Try this 1st, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.
Which exact Mac do you have, btw?

  • Color LaserJet 3800 Printing Issues

I am in the process of upgrading our desktop computers to Windows 7 Pro (x64). In preparation for this we setup a new print server running Windows Server 2008 R2 and created new print queues for each of the printers on our old Windows 2003 server, installed curent drivers for each, and thought that all would be good.
The issue I am seeing is that our users who are printing to an HP Color LaserJet 3800 are getting letter spacing issues where some letters are crushed together and others are too widely spaced (see example above). I can print the same document to an HP Color LaserJet 3600 everything looks correct.
I have verified that the print server has the HP Color LaserJet 3800 driver that comes with Windows Server 2008 R2 and that the other printer is running the HP Color LaserJet 3600 driver. These are both probably the ones available through Windows Update. Finally, we have tested a solution where the Universal Print driver is intalled locally and that seems to work fine. However, I don't want to have drivers individually installed if I can help it.
    Any ideas here?

I have a LaserJet 5100 - purchased in 2005 - worked great until I just bought a new HP Pavilion computer.  It prints normal text fine but having issues printing 11x17 pdf drawings.  I have tried loading updated drivers from HP site, called HP and talked to 3 people who didn't help, and talked to the Geek Squad at BestBuy who suggested I buy a new printer!  Well, this printer works great so I need help getting it to communicate to the new computer!!  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • HP Laserjet 3055 printing issues

I have a HP Laserjet 3055 which used to work fine and now won't print from my iMac. It's connected through USB directly to my iMac and I've reloaded the drivers a few times. I can scan but whenever I print, it goes to the active printing screen, then just shows up as a completed job without ever printing. If I go to HP Director, all the buttons work except for the "Maintain Device" button which brings up a "Error accessing device configuration page." when pressed. Also, the printer is hooked up to my network (through router) and all other Windows machines are able to print so it's some kind of issue with the Mac. Any help appreciated.

I have the same problem. I've done everything.

  • Color LaserJet 5550 Printing Issues

    Hi All,
I am having one problem on 2 HP Color LaserJet 5550 printers. The problem seems to be sporadic in nature, but on some full page prints, a small black line is printed across the image. I have tried running a PQ Troubleshooting test through the printer's diagnostics option, but everything seems to print fine when I do this.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • HP Laserjet 1100 Print Issue

I have above printer connected to Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 laptop system.  When sending print job to printer the print queue appears to process normally (job shows up, changes status, then disappears).  However printer never responds:  lights do not blink and nothing prints.
I disconnect the printer and connect it to a Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 3 system (using same printer cable) and printer operates correctly!  So the printer cable should be OK.
I connect a different printer--a Canon--to each computer system and it works correctly.  So the print cable port on the laptop should be OK.
I downloaded the latest driver for the 1100 from HP site onto the laptop, removed the printer defn and re-added the printer...same problem.
Any thoughts as to why the printer is not responding when sending print job?  Printer is still good...hate to toss it in the trash.
Note that these 2 computer systems are stand-alone (no networking between them) as is the printer.
    Thanks.

Hi there.  This is funny, or sad really.  I have the exxact problem.  When it doesn't print it says this printer is not connected.
That just can't be.  What about firmware?  While nosing around the HP site I noticed it says firmware needs to be updated.
I'm not sure how to do this.
    Have a great day,

  • HP LaserJet P1505 / Windows 7

I have one problem with P1505 , i have install PC HP with Windows 7.
But not print , for 1 or 2 print is ok after NO.
    Solution for this problem ?

    Hi @AlessandroLeade ,
I see by your post that you can print one or two pages and then it won't continue to print. I can help you.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
For the Laserjet P1505, make sure the USB cable is connected directly to the PC and not in a hub or docking station.
Clear out the Spool folder and restart the Print Spooler.
How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.
Try printing from another application to see if you have the same results.
    Try your application again.
From the application your printing from, go to File, Print, Number of copies select 2. Uncheck Collate. You can now change the number of copies. Collate should now stay unchecked.
Try printing the multiple page document again.
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.

    Try printing again.
What application are you printing from?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

  • HP LaserJet P1505 Drivers for Win 8

I have a new computer with Win 8 and my HP LaserJet P1505 printer does not work because of missing drivers. Does anyone know where i can get drivers for this printer for Win 8 or do I have to buy a printer that is not HP?
    Thanks Paul

    Hi Paul,
I afraid the P1505 currently not yet supported on Windows 8.
According the official statement a driver should be available till the end of 2012, I would believe it will be a bit dilayed and will become available in several weeks.
Please check the following link in the near feature, as soon as the driver will become available you will be able to download it from that page.

  • HP Laserjet P1505 not printing under Windows 8 CP

I Installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my system and also installed my HP Laserjet P1505 using the latest driver software from HP support. The printer installs correctly and also shows correctly in the Device Manager. However, when i try to print - test page or from any application - Win 8 reports: "The printer couldn't print...".
Interestingly, the printer was working under Windows 8 Developer Preview.
Any idea how to make the HP Laserjet P1505 work under Windows 8 Consumer Preview?
    Thanks.

Ok I finally found a way to get it to work!

  • No options in print windows HP Laserjet P1505

Trying to print Quark 6.5 document and specify Screen Frequency on HP Laserjet P1505, but cannot access any print options. I think it is a missing PPD thing, and I can't find a PPD listed for the printer in Quark PPDs. Can anyone help please?

    LilyLC wrote:
Thanks for the info. Okay, maybe it doesn't need to be stored in a "library" but doesn't it need to first be stored somewhere?
No. All that is needed is some mechanism to write the PPD file for the printing system use. It is the file in /private/etc/cups/ppd that is used when printing. Several manufacturers do not include PPD files for at least some of their printers. Many Epson printers come to mind as other examples. In versions of OS X 10.5 and earlier, manufacturers used their old carbon based drivers and only added enough to the installer to get things to work.
Some things change in Snow Leopard as the old carbon based and/or Tioga drivers are no longer acceptable. That is one of the reasons support for many printers was dropped. Even in Snow Leopard, there is a method to write PPD files only when printers are added.
The path I provided is generally where HP installs PPDs with OS 10.4.x. I know you were trying to troubleshoot without thinking of Quark, but that is what the OP needs. Interestingly, I do have a gazillion of PPDs including a few for the HP Laserjet Pxxx series that were installed as OS 10.x packages. The names of PPDs in my /private/etc/cups/ppd are the names I set when I added them with Print & Fax system preference, which are different than the actual printer and PPD names. The Quark PPD Manger recognizes original printer or PPD names.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Quark and its requirements. However, I would think as long as you can provide a copy of the PPD, it should work. If copying the PPD from /private/etc/cups/ppd to the Desktop is not sufficient, you could place the copy in /Library/Printers/PPDs... The name of the file should not be important. The printing system matches the printer with the correct PPD by using specific keywords in the PPD if a PPD is available when adding a printer. Where the manufacturer has not provided a PPD, it is up to them to provide the mechanism to write the appropriate PPD based on the printer that is chosen in Printer Setup Utility. I would hope that Quark would use the PPD keywords to match the printer to the PPD or at least honor the user pointing out which file to use.
