HP LaserJet P4015TN - Windows 7 cannot find on network

Several months ago we started to get random print jobs with garbled characters that would come out from time to time.  Over time, these events became more frequent and the number of pages printed out increased as well.  Sometimes a whole try of paper would be printed out with these garbage characters on each page.
Unplugging the network cable would stop this but it would start up again immediately after plugging the cable back in.  Initially I thought this was a network issue so I swapped cables.  No luck.  Swapped ports.  No luck.  Reset all of our switches and our router.  No luck.  Removed the print driver from our machines and reinstalled.  No luck.
I left it unplugged for several days and the random printing finally stopped.  Problem solved!  Well, not exactly.  The random printing issue is now gone but now I cannot install this printer on any Windows 7 machine.  In fact I cannot find the printer either by entering the IP directly in the setup or by browsing the network.
The odd part is I can ping the printer and I can login to the admin page via the printers IP without an issue.  The other oddity is that this is only occuring on Windows 7 machines.  XP machines can print to the printer with no issues.
I have tried this on various machines with the Windows Firewall on and off and antivirus software on and off.  Nothing seems to make a difference.
However, I did have success using the HP Print and Scan Doctor software.  It did finally see the printer and let me install the HP Universal Print Driver.   I can now print to the printer using this driver.  This is not the prefered way of doing this as we have many public users of this printer that would not be technically savvy enough to setup printing this way.
My question is, why did this printer stop connecting to Windows 7 PCs?  Nothing has changed on our network.  Is there a know issue with a Windows Update that is causing an issue?  I am symied with this.
Any ideas?
I finally came to the conclusion that this had to be a bad network board.

You can disregard that last line that states this was a bad network card.  An HP service center determined that the card is fine and found nothing wrong with the printer.

  • Receiving an error message when connecting to internet saying: windows cannot find "address" but it connects anyway???

The error message that appears when trying to access internet says that windows cannot find "address" and asks to make sure it was typed in correctly. It continues to connect but is a hassle to deal with the error message each time. Any suggestions?

What is the ip address you are getting on the Vista Computer..?
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Wireless Network Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then type ping 4.2.2.2 and press Enter, if you get request timed out, then you need to upgrade your router's firmware...If you get 4 replies then type ping yahoo.com and press Enter...If you get replies for Yahoo then you should get the Internet after adjusting the browser settings...
Adjusting Browser Settings : Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on O.k...Close the IE and re-open it...
If yahoo times out then provide static DNS on your LAN Connection...
Click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network Connections- Right click on the icon for Wireless Network Connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the Following DNS Settings' Preferred DNS 4.2.2.2 Alternate DNS - 192.168.1.1>>Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...You should be able to go online...

  • Sometimes cannot find wireless networks??

i've looked around on a couple messege boards, but they didn't seem to be exactly the same problem i was having.
essentially, after waking up from sleep or hibernate, i sometimes cannot find wireless networks.  the wireless switch will be on, Fn + F5 says my wireless is on, yet nothing can be found.  strangely, when i try to turn off wireless, whether it's through Fn +F5, or the hardware switch, the light below the monitor remains ON.  basically, i can't even turn it off.  when i do click the button to try and turn off wireless, it gives me the busy cursor and eventually the whole menu disappears.
the way to fix this is by restarting.
just today, however, i suffered this same problem, even though i wasn't coming back from sleep or hibernate - it just lost connection randomly and then couldn't find any networks.  attempts to turn off wireless failed.
is there a solution?  is this actually the same problem that was remedied by changing a power setting?
    thanks in advance.

Yeah I'm having this problem too, with my antique T41 running XP. It used to be rock solid it seemed to change when I installed XP SP3.
I have tried reinstalling the Intel drivers but that hasn't helped. It seems when it restarts after hibernate (and occasionally at other times, as with the previous poster) it somehow doesn't lock on to the signal or it gets confused in the protocol or something. It doesn't always happen though - about one in three.  Rebooting cures it...until the next time....
any assistance / ideas most welcome, thanks.
PS I'm using Windows Zero Configuration not Access Connections. That was a change some years ago that made it work better so I'm inclined to stick with that unless someone can tell me why not....

They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. • I keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get it when I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon.

I've just installed Firefox on my laptop and keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get this message whenever I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon. I've never gotten it to work and even uninstalled it and then redownloaded it and still cannot get it to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

  • "Windows cannot find the microsoft software license terms" Windows 8.1 Installation Error - Parallels

I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 via Parallels on my Macbook Pro.
I create a new VM and use the .ISO file and get the error: "Windows cannot find the microsoft software license terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation."
I found this question was answered here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/b1021d66-9774-4b5b-b50b-ad860c5ecc89/windows-8-enterprise-rtm-installation-error?forum=w8itproinstall
However, following the steps of the solution did not work for me. I created a blank VM and chose Windows 8.1. After this, it asks me to insert the installation disc. I cannot figure out how to use the .ISO as the source at this point. I tried copying and
pasting the path to the file and dragging the file to the VM, but no luck.
If there is a way I can install this without this error message or by somehow getting the path to the .ISO that'd be perfect.

    Hi,
According to your description, I would like to confirm if you have unchecked the Express installation box.
Be sure to uncheck 'Express Installation' when installing, otherwise Windows setup will fail with an error "cannot find license terms" and get stuck in a reboot cycle.
I suggest you refer to the following link to use Parallels Desktop to install Windows 8.1.

  • Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4(64bit)...'

I've just installed the CS6 upgrade on my WIndows VIsta x64 bit machine.
Just now, I opened a folder of files in Bridge CS6.
I highlighted one of the files and selected Ctrl/o to host Camera Raw in Photoshop, which is what I always do.
But, I got an error message saying that Windows cannot find Photoshop CS4.
I did uninstall CS5 after installing the upgrade, if that makes any difference.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    D.

For some users an uninstall of previous version wrecks havoc with file associations.
First try edit/preferences/file type associations.  Click on reset "reset to default associations".  If that does not work click on individual file and set default to CS6.
If the above does not work you either have to unistall CS6, run the Adobe Script Cleaner or read registry solution in this link.  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1005273?tstart=0

Open the following registry and set the work directory which does not include any spaces:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\XML Publisher\Template Builder for Word\TB_WORK_DIR
In my case the above Registry Key has the value:
    C:\Documents and Settings\p.jain\Local Settings\Application Data\Oracle\BIPublisher\TemplateBuilderforWord
    and I changed it to:
    C:\DOCUME~1\PAAAB~1.JAI\LOCALS~1\APPLIC~1\ORACLE\BIPUBL~1\TEMPLA~1
    and it worked.
I suggest you copy the path from the error which you receive.

  • Playbook cannot find WIFI networks

Hi, I have a new Playbook 16gb wifi and the wifi isn't working. Essentially what happened was after I completed the initial setup it prompted me to install an OS update after which the WIFI stopped working. I cannot connect to any network no matter the type a/b/g/n, the frequency, the channel or the mode. I have tried on two Netgear routers, 1 DLink and 1 iPhone (used as a hot spot). I have tried PBS using the actual button and the PIN but neither works. It just cannot find any networks.
I tried resetting to factory defaults but that has made the situation worse because I am now stuck at the setup screen with no networks to complete setup. I can't connect to the desktop software either because the installation hasn't completed.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    David

    Hello
Were you able to fix the wifi issue ?
I have successfully reloaded QNX OS on the Playbook using Desktop manager.
    Version 1.0.7.2942 was loaded.
I still have the same problem, it is impossible to connect to the wifi network.
I have tried wpa2, wpa and wep , nothing works. I have tried at over 10 different routers.  I tried with routers where other playbook wifi works well, but this one playbook won't connect, I always get the same error while trying to pair to the network, it doesn't event get to the acquiring IP address phase.
    Thanks

  • Windows cannot find

Windows 7 64 bit. Adobe reader was working OK until problems with AVG uninstall. We have uninstalled/reinstalled reader several times including using special programmes to make sure of successful uninstall. Reader seems to be installed OK but we get an error message that says windows cannot find c:\programme files(86)\Adobe\Reader11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe  We have tried to install different versions resulting in the same message and on the last install, we were only given the option of 11.0. Installation of the main Adobe programme as a free trial works OK.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Windows cannot find AcroTray.exe

    Hi,
I'm using adobe acrobat pro 9 and started getting an error message everytime I attempt to create a pdf file using ms office whether it be in word, excel, or even in ms project
    The error message is:
    Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat10.0\Acrobat\AcroTray.exe'
Make sure you  typed the name correctly, and try again.
This just started to happen last week after using acrobat pro for the last two years with no problems.
I am using windows 7 home edition.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated as I've had no success
    Garry

I would run Help>Repair. Then do the updates to AA9 also. That may repair the problem. As suggested, it looks like the AA X trial was installed and then removed. One of the problems of removing a version of Acrobat is that it often breaks the remaining versions. Hopefully, a repair will do the job.
However, you should be able to find AcroTray in the AA 9 folder also. Check the startup folder to be sure that is the version that is being called. AcroTray should be running in the background to enable PDF creation.
