  • 2101nw print server (and LaserJet M1132 MFP) – installation problems on Windows 7 (64bit)

For two years, I've been a happy user of an HP printer (LaserJet M1132 MFP), wirelessly connected to my home network thanks to a HP Wireless G Print Server HP 2101nw.
A week ago, a new machine came in and – to align operating systems - I had to install Windows 7 (64 bits) also on my laptop (previously we were running Windows XP).
Then, I went on with the reinstallation of HP software, for the print server and the printer.
    And it was a disaster.
After the failure of the first installation ("Installazione non riuscita"), I went through a series of attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling, again and again, by various methods. Uselessly. Even Revo Uninstaller did not help.
Then, looking for information over the web, I read there was a known problem of incompatibility of the print server’s driver with 64-bit environment, and that HP was not going to rewrite it .
    You can imagine my disappointment.
Now, hopefully, I write in this forum to ask for help. My request is twofold:
    1) I would like to properIy clean up my laptop and remove all that bad installed sw (both of the print server and the printer), so that at least I can successfully reinstall printer software for using it via USB cable.
For this purpose, can you please give me your suggestions ?
    2) I would like to know: It is true that there is no driver available for use this print server on Windows 7 (64 bit) ?
I’m asking because I found these pages which seems to give some hope, but I’m not so sure  ... :

  • HP Laserjet 1300 installation problem

Has anyone sucessfully used an HP laserjet 1300n with OS9? If so, how did you install it so it worked correctly. I can't get the desktop printer utility to see it in the select USB printer dialog box. I had already installed the drivers from HP's website and the printer was on and plugged into a usb port. Do I need the original CD that came with the printer? It is on a iMac g3 with OS 9.2.2. Thanks

I don't know that printer but HP's installation notes indicate it's a PostScript machine so when it doesn't work first time Desktop Printer Utility is going a stage too far…
HP recommends using Apple's own LaserWriter 8 driver, which by itself should see the printer and use its basic functions.
The HP installer adds a model-specific PostScript Printer Definition but that should be necessary only for full funtionality of all the printer's options, not for basic use or testing…
HP doesn't state - and it might be crucial - which versions of LaserWriter 8 driver is needed… some printers mind the version of LaserWriter 8 and of auxilliary files including the Extension, PrintingLib. I guess you can get that info only from HP technical and then, as here, only from a techie with specific experience.
If LaserWriter 8 can't immediately see the printer, you should shut down then physically disconnect everything but the screen and (Apple) keyboard and mouse, then restart and re-install the printer precisely according to HP's instructions which even though they seem to be uneccessary, in this case state:
Before installing the HP Printing System, HP recommends that you disable all extensions that may cause a system conflict. Some system extensions are known to cause system conflicts when installing software. Traditionally, extensions have been disabled by restarting the Macintosh while holding down the Shift key. This disables all the system extensions on the computer and allows the user to install their software without conflict. However, for most users, disabling all extensions means disabling their CD-ROM drives; which makes a CD-ROM-based installation impossible. To resolve this issue:
    • For users of Mac OS 7.5 and newer, restart your computer while holding down the space bar. This will open the Extensions Manager. From the Extensions Manager you can disable all extensions except the extensions needed to use your CD-ROM. Then run the HP installation software from the CD-ROM.
If you plan to try that, please first make sure you have a working back-up of the current 9 System Folder, evn if it's only a drag-Copy…

  • Printer driver installation problems... ARRRRGGGHHH

I can't install the printer drivers for my two printers: a Canon MX860 and a Samsung ML2950 (OS 10.8.2 on a 2010 MacBook Pro).  In both cases I have downloaded the drivers and they have been installed to /Library/Printers/...  When I try to add the Canon printer, for example, the installer says "The selected printer software is available from Apple. Click Add to downoad it and add this printer."  I click "Add" and after several seconds get the message "Can't install the software for the Canon MX860 series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."  When I select "Use: Select Printer Software..." the subsequent list is completely empty.  When I select "Use: Other.." I navigate to where the driver is - in this case "/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/PDEs/CanonIJPDE.bundle," select it, click "Open" and immediately I'm back to "The selected printer software is available..."  In other words, it ignores my selection.  EXACTLY the same thing happens with the Samsung.  This is very frustrating, to say the least.  *** is going on here?  The thing is, both printers were successfully installed before.  I removed them and am simply trying to reinstall them (don't ask why).  I've had numerous Macs over 12 years and I'm starting to hate them.

A couple of things to try. In the Print&Scan preference panel click in the window that lists the printers. Right-click (control-click) and select "Reset printing system." Then try to add the printers again.
You should not have downloaded and installed the printer drivers manually. That can screw things up. The location for drivers may have changed in Mountain Lion for all we know. All printer drivers should be installed only through the Print&Scan preference panel. All drivers are now supplied to Apple by the printer manufacturers and are customized for the OS they are being installed on. Just let the Print&Scan panel do its thing.

  • Problem with HP LaserJet M1319f MFP installation

Dear support team and community members,
I'm currently trying to install HP LaserJet M1319f MFP connected by USB on Lenovo Q190 machine /Intel Core i3 processor/ running freshly installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit with Bulgarian
language pack, all current updates, Microsoft Forefront Protection /I also tried to disable the Real-time protection/, UAC disabled, administrator account, IE 11, .NET Framework 4.5.1.
The priter was working correctly with Windows XP.
I downloaded the driver package from the official hp website.
After the installation process reach the "Copying files to the hard drive" stage the installer return error Printer Software Installer stopped working.
I tried running with Administrator privileges and/or Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode, but the same error occurs.
I tried Microsoft Fix It software for install/uninstall drivers too,but with no luck either.
I cleaned the cashe and temporary files around 10-15 times.
Windows update is not helping with the drivers too.
I tried to extract the files from the installer and manually add the printer and got error that the installation was not successful and below it says The file was not found /if I recall it correctly/
After that I tried HP Print and Scan Doctor software, but it displays that there is no driver installed and redirecting me to the driver download page.
I tried the Driver Wizard software too, but it returns that this model is no supported.
I tried to change the windows startup to "Selective startup" with "Load startup items" unchecked and all non-microsoft services disabled, but with no success.
Under Safe mode the install won't complete because of the Print Spooler service not running, which is running normally otherwise.
The "ntprint.inf" file is present in the "Windows\inf" folder, the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Enviroments\Windows NT x86 has only Drivers and Print
Processors subkeys and the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors has only Local Port, Microsoft Shared Fax monitor, Standard TCP/IP Port, USB monitor and WSD port subkeys.
The folders Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86 are empty.
I ran sfc /scannow in cmd with administrator privileges, but there was no integrity violations.
I tried to disable the IE component, but no luck either.
So now I’m out of any ideas how to connect that **bleep** thing… I hope that someone can help me with this issue.
Currently the devices without installed driver in the Device Manager are "Hewlett-PackardHP LaserJet M1319f MFP" /Hardware IDs USBPRINT\Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1 and Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1/
and HP Scan /Hardware IDs USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&REV_0100&MI_00 and USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&MI_00/
I forgot to mention that I tried all kind of variations with these solutions with and without printer plugged in.
Thank you very much in advance for any kind of guidelines.
    Best regards,
    Ivan

    Hello Rick,
Just as I mentioned above I'm using Microsoft Forefront Protection, but had no luck with disabling the Real-time protection - it is disabled,
    but that chanage nothing.
The downloaded driver is for Windows 7 64 bit.
I did write to HP but I still got no answer from them... I already checked that support page, but I didn't get any information corresponding
to my problem, not to mention that a lot of that page is just copy/paste from another product and it's not relevant to that model.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w installation problems

    Hello everyone!
Can someone please help me with this problem. I bought this HP laserjet P1102W about 4 months ago. It was working fine untill my service provider changed the settings for my Lynksis modem+router. So I reset the new settings for my modem and had it configured (wireless). The modem worked fine but it couldn't connect with my laser printer so I uninstalled it and had it reinstalled.
    Here is the problem:
During the installation using smart install imbedded in the hardware(no CD), this password box keeps popping up. Maybe I had entered a password for my printer before. Problem is I have  completely forgotten about  it. This password thing is keeping me from installing my printer properly. If I install it using USB configuration it only works by USB not wireless. But I bought it for its wireless feature in the first place thats why I wanted it to work  as a wireless printer.
Can someone please help me. How can I retrieve this password? Or better, if there is a way so that a password is not required?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Does anyone know how to fix a problem printing with HP Laserjet printer?

We've recently begun experiencing problems when trying to print to our HP Laserjet printer.  The iMac system seems to recognize the printer, but the print job gets "held up" in processing and never prints.  We can turn the printer on and off and then one print job will be executed.  However, then the system "freezes up" again and we have to repeat the whole process of turning the printer on and off.  Very strange and frustrating.  Especially, since the printer was working fine until recently.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Are you definitely running 10.6.7 as your profile says, or could you be on 10.6.8. If it's 10.6.8 quite a few people have reported printing problems.
Have a look at this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3137602?start=75&tstart=0
Worth perusing the whole thread but 'velocius' seems to have posted a solution that has worked for several people (make sure you use the correct entry - 3 from the end of page 6).
If you are on 10.6.7 you could try 'resetting the printing system'. System Preferences>Print & Fax and Control+Click on a printer listed on the left and select 'reset printing system'. All your printers will be deleted and need to be added again, but it might help fix the problem.

  • Help!  Problems printing to HP Laserjet printer

OK we've had an imac for several months and haven't had any problems.  Recently, we can no longer print multiple jobs from our HP Laserjet printer.  I believe the printer and the imac still recognize each other, but the print job seems to get "hung up" and never prints.  It shows in the print que, but the status never changes.  The only thing that seems to work is turning the printer on and off, but then it only prints 1 print job and then all other print jobs get "hung up" again.

"according to the system profile it says its an iMac 11, 2"
You have a much newer iMac than those covered in this forum, which is for iMacs made prior to Jan 2006. You'll feel more at home posting your question in the forum for current iMacs here:
    iMac (Intel)
If someone here fails to notice you have the newer model, it's possible they could give you advise for the older ones that doesn't apply to yours. Not your fault--it's due to an unfortunate choice of forum labels.

  • InDesign printing problem/laserjet printer or InDesign the issue?

I have a 30-page InDesign file with text and photos. Some pages print fine (I'm printing on 11x17 and 12x18 paper) and others cause my high-end printer (HP Laserjet 8550n) to spit out an endless stream of 8.5 x 11 pages with lines of gibberish courier text (some might be code, some words). I have to cancel the job on the printer and restart it whenever this happens. Sometimes if I delete a photo and re-Place it, or redo some type graphic the problem goes away. I can tell when a page is going to have this problem when the name of the file doesn't disappear from the list on my printer status window at the moment the printer starts to print. If I turn the layout into a pdf there's no problem printing it.
I sent one particularly stubborn problem page (after re-placing the photo and some text) to the company printing the job. They easily printed the page on their humble little laserjet printer.
I'm using InDesign CS4 on a 2008 iMac running OS 10.5.8. Does this seem like the problem is with my printer or with InDesign?
    Thanks!

This is so odd. On this particular problem page, a couple of days ago I replaced the image 3 times and it still gave me a printer error. I copied the page from the 30-page doc onto a new, single page and still had the problem. I deleted the image and still had the problem. There are three text boxes and I deleted them one at a time and each time, all the way down to one text box, I was still having the problem. Tonight I go back to the original 30-page doc., replace the image, and the page printed out fine. Frustrating!

  • 6500 multiple installation problems with existing hp printer on same computer

I just bought a 6500 wireless printer on a 14-day trial period from Staples.  The first problem I had was that the installation CD said it did not support Windows Media Center Edition on my laptop.  I chatted online with HP and downloaded a driver and ran the install.  It got error messages halfway through that the HP PSC2100 (which I have used with my laptop) does not support wireless.  I deleted the PSC2100 from Printers and Faxes and re-ran the install.  This time it worked, but I got a message that the printer could not communicate with Scanning.  I ignored this message and I am able to print from my laptop wirelessly.  Now I want to install on my HP desktop, which has an HP Photosmart printer connected.  Will I get this same kind of installation problem?  Should I delete the Photosmart before trying the install? Do I need to connect the printer to the desktop with the USB cable (I'd rather not move the printer)? Will I be able to scan wirelessly after getting the Scanning error message?  All of these could be tested, but with only 14 days I'd like to launch off other peoples' experience.
    thanks!

Hi, you should be able to install you new printer without having to uninstall the old one.

  • HP P1006 LaserJet printer and G4 Tiger computer - printing problems

Help. I bought a new HP P1006 LaserJet printer for a friend that has a G4 Computer that is running Tiger (10.4.11). I set everything up. I tried to print "one" page, to make sure all was well. Well...all was NOT well. It took nearly 4-5 minutes to print the page with just lines of text from a Word document. Does anyone know what could be wrong. I selected to print one page, then hit the print button. Then the computer started "thinking" and making all kinds of "thinking noises". Eventually it printed the page, but it too FOREVER.
I have three HP LaserJet printers. Two are working off another G4 running Tiger, and the other is working off a G5 and a Mac Mini Intel. When I print, it prints within seconds.
    Please help me.

  • LaserJet M1319f MFP Installation issue on Windows 7

Dear HP support team and community members,
I'm currently trying to install HP LaserJet M1319f MFP connected by USB on Lenovo Q190 machine /Intel Core i3 processor/ running freshly installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit with Bulgarian language pack, all current updates, Microsoft Forefront Protection /I also tried to disable the Real-time protection/, UAC disabled, administrator account, IE 11, .NET Framework 4.5.1.
The priter was working correctly with Windows XP.
I downloaded the driver package from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=bg&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3547...
The "ntprint.inf" file is present in the "Windows\inf" folder, the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Enviroments\Windows NT x86 has only Drivers and Print Processors subkeys and the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors has only Local Port, Microsoft Shared Fax monitor, Standard TCP/IP Port, USB monitor and WSD port subkeys.
Currently the devices without installed driver in the Device Manager are "Hewlett-PackardHP LaserJet M1319f MFP" /Hardware IDs USBPRINT\Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1 and Hewlett-PackardHP_La28A1/ and HP Scan /Hardware IDs USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&REV_0100&MI_00 and USB\VID_03F0&PID_5817&MI_00/
I forgot to mention that I tried all kind of variations with these solutions with and without printer plugged in.
Thank you very much in advance for any kind of guidelines.
    Best regards,
    Ivan
P.S.: At least I think that I managed to gather all known related solutions in this topic…
    This question was solved.

    Hello Gemini02,
First thank you for your assistance!
I uninstalled the IE 11 and install IE 10, but with no success related to the driver issues. I just want to mention to those who are trying to do the same that IE 11 should be removed from Add/Remove Windows components and from Installed Updates.
As for the solutions from your post:
Solution 2: The build in troubleshooting is reporting that no driver is installed (obviously...), but is not helping much with the installation. Windows updates are not much of a help too... The device manager is finding the device, but can't install the driver. More detailed information about the devices in the Device manager you can find in the end of my first post.
I'm posting some screenshots of the issue so that you can get clearer picture of the situation.
So basically I'm downloading the official drivers from the link in my first post. I'm sure that the drivers are the correct one as I downloaded them several time to clear the possibility of technical mistake.
But when I try to install them I get the following error:
The Event viewer information is as follows:
    The reports are:

Solution 3 can't be applied to the current case as I can't install the software so I don't have what to uninstall/reinstall.
I cleared the cache and disabled all optionally installed software in msconfig as suggested, but the issue with the installer is still not resolved.
Solution 4 is not relevant as the device was working fine two days ago.
Solution 5 is difficult for implementation too as the location of the device is in some kind of rural area and it is vital for the implementation of the daily duties of the employee.
So after the failure with the solutions provided in the article I tried to extract the installer to use the drivers and manually install the printer using the file HP1319fp.ini  with the "... MFP" driver selected. I set it at new local port named USB. I'm posting the screenshot of the error i get in the end of installation:
After I press the OK button in gets in a loop by returning to the previous page.
I tried the same drivers with existing port USB001, but got the same result as with the new port.
Currently I will try to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in case that this is kind of windows update cache issue, but don't think so... I begin to think that this device driver is somehow not compatible with the computer hardware...
Thank you and I apologize for taking your time with such issues!
    Best regards,
    Ivan

  • Printer Software Installer has stopped working

Product: HP Laser Jet M1005 MFP
    OS: Windows 7, 64-bit
    Notebook ACER , Aspire 5349, Intel Celeron CPU B800 @ 1.50 GHz
(new notebook, old printer - printer worked well on Windows XP)
I downloaded driver ljM1005-HB-pnp-x64-en. Driver had been extracted and setup started.
Installation started and after some initialization (~10 sec) it kept writing:
Preinstalling the driver files...  or Copying files to hard drive...  (switching approx. once per second) after a while (~ 20 sec)
Printer Software Installer has stopped working. Windows tried to find solution but did not find anything.
I TRIED ALREADY EVERYTHING. I used patch for AMD processors (of course, did not work); I have Windows installer up to date; I disabled Internet Explorer 9.0 (I cannot uninstall and iether can I step back to IE 8.0 since notebook is brand new); There is no windows driver preinstalled for this printer and there is no similar driver working.
Driver cannot be installed and printer does not work.
    Please, help.

    Dear Sir / Madam
I WANT TO USE HP1020 PLUS LASERJET PRINTER   WITH B& R PC . PC HAVING TWO FLASH CARD EACH HAVING MEMORY OF 1GB.  WINDOW XP EMBEDDED SERVICE PACK-3
How much memory will be covered during printer driver installation.

    Hello kavyasuresh,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Thank you for posting your question regarding the LaserJet 1020 Plus and what system requirement are needed to install. I was able to find some information to answer this for you. It would appear that on XP the printer needs at least 128 MB of RAM and 150 MB of free disk space.
To view the information your self, it is available here: Product Specifications.
I hope this answers your question.
