HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP printing & scanning problems

Ever since I purchased this multifunction color printer, it has been unreliable. My Mac Mini running the latest OS (currently Mavericks OX 10.9.2) will be printing and scanning fine, and then at some point it can't find the scanner, the printing slows to an amazing crawl, and then the printing stops altogether. I have repeatedly attempted to set up the printer under Preferences and have installed the latest drivers from the HP website. When that works, it's a short-term fix; eventually, the bugs come back. The darn thing won't scan or print again, and I'm pretty fed up. I paid a premium price for a premium color multifunction printer for my home, and it has been nothing but a problem. Help!

Welcome to the HP Support Forums.
I see that you have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP being operated on a Mac 10.9.2. The CM1415fnw will not maintain a continual connection to the computer displaying errors and very slow printing. Since you have done a great job already troubleshooting the issue some of the steps I suggest will have already been done by yourself.
I suggest you take these steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Reset the Printing Systems by following this Apple Document: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
2. Uninstall the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP with this HP document: Uninstall HP printer software.
3. Repair disk permissions on the Mac.
4. Check for and install any and all updates on the Mac.
5. Downlaod and Install the printer HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP software.
I hope this helps and will allow you to have more continual functionality with your Laserjet.

    PRINTER: HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer
    OS: Windows 7
    OWNED: Over 2 years with no problems
    LOCATION/SET-UP: At my personal residence. All-in-one wireless router through cable company.
    ISSUE: All of a sudden, printer cannot find any wireless networks. Nothing has recently changed in my service provider or equipment. I know that the router and internet is not the problem because our 2 smart phones and three laptops still connect. I've triend manually setting up the network using SSID and Keyphrase but still nothing.

    I would perform a hard reset by removing the power from the entire machienethrough the powercord for thirty seconds. Following that I would reconnect the printer to the wireless network and set a static IP/

    hello,
    i got a HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw printer. and i want to use the scan to mail feature.
    But when i am setting up my google account as head account where the printer should send the mails from it doesn't work. i don't get the scan's into my mail. does somebody got a user guide for me how it is done and with the settings i have to use?

    Are you trying to setup the scan to email from the printer or from the HP Software?

  • LaserJet pro 200 color MFP M276nw - Scan setup and installation on Mac Yosemite

    Hi all, 
    I just bought a new LaserJet pro 200 color MFP M276nw and I'm trying (since 4 days) to coorectly install it.
    My target would be to use it through the wifi connection and I correctly set it by the front panel.
    When I try to install the printer by wifi, I can install the print driver but I can't find the scan driver.
    I tried connecting it by ethernet and the system point out a multifunction scanner and printer driver. If use them, it works correctly.
    Whenever I pull out the lan cable to use it by wifi it lose the scan functions. 
    What am I doing wrong?

    I see that you are experiencing issues scanning over the wireless network, but you can scan by a Ethernet connection.
    I would like to help.
    What drivers did you install for the printer? (Apple Update or the 10.9 download drivers)
    I checked our Lab computer with 10.10 installed on it and I was able to scan through Printers and Scanners over the Wireless network.
    Check the driver version installed.
    Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, highlight the Laserjet, click on the Print tab on the right side of the window and select Options and Supplies.
    On the General tab it will list the driver version.
    19.9 is the one listed on the lab.
    What driver do you have showing?
    Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
    Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet Pro 200 MFP M276)
    If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
    On the Printers and Scanners window, highlight the printer on the left side, on the right side of the window you should have a Print/Scan tab, click on Scan, then Open Scanners and test the scanning. If you don't have the Scan tab, let me know.
    Did you add the printer as a Bonjour printer or through the IP Protocal? (can't scan through IP Protocal)
    Are you using the automatic IP address, or your own Static IP address?

  • Laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw Scan to Email issue

    My laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw claims email is not set-up.  I have entered in the e-mail addresses to send the scans to, but it still claims it is not setup.  How do I setup this feature? I already have the "Send an Email" feature working where it sends the scan "from" my e-mail, but I want to use the Address Book feature and just send to a specific e-mail.

    I see by your post that you what to setup the scan to email on the printer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
    I have provided a document for How to Scan: From the Control Panel. Select Scan to an email.
    If you are still having issues then go into the printer's Embedded Web Server by typing in the printer's IP address in your web browser and setup a Static IP and set the DNS address.
    Click the Network tab, then click on IP4 config on the left side.
    Click on Network Address (IP)
    Select Manual.
    Type in the printer's information and IP address.
    Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual. Under Network Information, it looks like you can change the settings there.
    Set the preferred address as 8.8.8.8
    Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4 and confirm the changes.
    Try setting it up again.

    Hi I have problem to use scan software from my PC to scan document and save to my PC. Every time a error message pop up : Scanner Unreachable.  I am using wireless and can print without any problem, even I turn off the firewall and connect with the printer cable, it still doesn't work. please help me solve the issue, I use scan function a lot. I would be happy to assist you with this. If you're able to print, but cannot scan. It sounds like the HP Software is corrupted. The Print and Scan Doctor might be able to correct the issue for us.Please download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will likely diagnose and resolve the issue you are experiencing. What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor?     Hi , Thanks for getting back to me! It's not abnormal to see some print quality issues once your toner is lower that 20%. Were you able to complete the steps in the document that I sent? Is there any cyan on the print quality printout at all? If not, it could be a defective toner cartridge. I would suggest contacting HP Support to inquire about a replacement if it is a Genuine HP toner cartridge.**Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance. If a replacement toner cartridge does not resolve the issue, then it's possible that the printer may need to be serviced. Hope this helps!Thanks again for posting, and have a great day.

    When scanning a letter size document through the paper feed, the documents always scan legal size.  I tried to change the paper size, but the only option given is "automatic".  If I place a single piece of paper on the glass, it will scan letter size.  If I have a 10 page document to scan, it takes too much time to place each sheet individually on the glass.  Can someone help with instructions on getting letter size documents scanned through the paper feed to scan to letter size documents rather than legal size?

    I see that you are experiencing issues only when scanning from the ADF. The letter size is scanning as a A4 size.
    I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
    What application are you scanning with?
    If you installed the full software drivers, the scanning software would be HP  Scan Software. Here is a screen shot of the paper options that you should be getting when scanning.
    If you are still not able to change the paper sizes through the software, I would uninstall and reinstall it.

  • LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP frequently calibrates

    HI, i've owned a laserjet pro CM1415 now for a few years and it frequently calibrates, often every few minutes. the only
    way it stops is when i turn the printer off. It is now making weird noises when it calibrates. How can i fix this issue? thankyou

    I see that you are experiencing issues with the printer frequently calibrating and it making noises. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
    Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
    Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
    Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
    CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
    Finger prints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    Look for any scratches, fingerprints, toner, or other damage on the imaging drum.
    Check for anything hanging out, such as the blade.
    Did you recently change any of the toners?
    Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
    Any defects printed on the pages?
    Do you get the noise when powering up the printer too?
    If you do have the noise, then remove all the toners and restart the printer again to see if you have the same results, to find out if it is the printer on possibly one of the toners. Then put in one toner at a time, restart the printer, to find out which toner is causing the issue.

  • Laserjet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP

    Scanning not working with software.  ATT installed a new router and of course changed most things.  I don't believe this is a firewall issue because the Toshiba notebook, the HP notebook connected and worked fine.  The Lenovo notebook prints but you get the commucations issue with the Lenovo.  I have loaded, uninstalled, and reloaded and this does not work.  The printer and scanner doctor deletes the software that you need to scan.
    It looks like this is a problem that several are having and this occured after a new router was installed.  Before then it was working fine with the old router.

    I see by your post that after setting up the new router you can't scan.
    I can help you with this issue.
    Temporarily turn off the Antivirus software just to rule out it isn't causing any conflicts.
    Try scanning again.
    You might have to configure the Antivirus software to allow a connection with the printer.
    When Attempting to Scan, a Firewall Notification Displays and the Scan Cannot Be Completed.
    Run the Microsoft Fit It Tool. Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically.
    If you are still having issues then check that the scanning ports on the router are open. You can contact the router company to check and open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.
    What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
    When you ran the Print and Scan Doctor was there any issues with the Wia or Twain?

  • LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw scan to computer file

    when we attempt to scan  we have three options on the printer
    1. Scan to usb drive
    2. Scan to Network folder
    3. Scan to e-mail
    the only way we can scan is to choose #1. If we want to  attach a scan to an e mail or place it in a file the only way that seems to work is to put it on a usb drive then transfer it to a file on the computer or an e-mail
    Choosing #2 or 3 results in:
      "this feature requires the printer be connected to network"
    we are connected to the CPU by a USB cable from a port on the back.  How do we just scan directly to the computer??

    The printer would have to be setup on the wireless or hardwired with a ethernet cable to the router for those other 2 features to work.

  • HP LaserJet Pro C1415fn color MFP - fax won't work

    I have a LaserJet Pro CM1415fn color MFP on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop. I've been using the printer for two years now.
    At the moment the fax function only works if I use it manually (i.e. if I place a sheet of paper on the scanner, select the "Fax" button on the printer touch pad and dial the number). However, if I want to send a fax via the PC interface, it won't work.
    For example, if I open a PDF, click on "Print" and select "HP LaserJet Professional CM 1410 Series Fax", nothing happens -- no window/interface will open. If I select "HP Send Fax" or "HP Fax Setup Wizard" from the program menu, nothing happens.
    I've always been sending faxes this way and I just don't know what happened... Can anyone please help?

    I see that you can't fax from the PC anymore. I can help you with this.
    If this just recently happened, I would do a System Restore back to when everything was working properly.
    System Restore for Windows 7.
    If you would prefer not to do the System Restore, uninstall and reinstall the printer software. It might become corrupted.
    Here are the steps to run the uninstall from the computer or the CD.
    To uninstall from program files:
    Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.
    Select the C drive.
    Select program files or program files x86.
    Open the HP and printer name folder.
    Select uninstall.
    Uninstall the software from the CD:
    Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window. Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
    Disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software. How to use MSCONFIG .
    Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
    Download, save and install the latest drivers.
    HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer Drivers.
    Test the printer and try sending a fax again from the PC.
    Then you will need to go back in and enable the start up programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.

  • Scanner forlaserjet pro cm1415fnw color mfp will not work

    we have laserjet pro cm1415fnw color mfp which was working just find with our network, 2 computers and windows xp. Then the printer stopped working, I removed the software from both computer and reinstalled it. It worked fine on one but the other and error message comes up. It says it does not work with the operating system? but the two computers both have windows xp? I never had a problem before what happened and how can I fix it. I was able to get the printer to work without the disk but not the scannerhelpterry

    I think what we need to do is go ahead and uninstall and reinstall the drivers, It may not have updated properly causing a communication error with the scanner and computer. First what we will do is go ahead and Unistall on Windows 8, please make sure you are removing all the HP Laserjet software.
    Once we have successfully removed all software we can go ahead and Restore Network Defaults on the front panel of your Laserjet:
    Setup Menu > Network Setup Menu >  Restore Defaults
    Now I would like you to go ahead and do a restart on your Router, LaserJet then Computer for atleast  60 seconds, then we will go ahead and turn them on in the way we turned them off so router first, Laserjet second and last the computer.
    Now you will have to get your printer connected back to your network, let's go ahead and run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the front panel:
    Setup Menu > Network Setup Menu > Wireless Menu > Wireless Setup Wizard
    Once you have successfully connected to your network, we can go ahead and install the software and drivers please click on the link below:
    HP LaserJet Pro Series Full Solution Software and Driver
    Now you can go ahead and run the installation, this should have you back up and using the full features of your LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw.

  • Hp laserjet pro cm1415fn color mfp

    I recently purchased the HP Laserjet pro CM1415fn color MFP, and had problems printing out of Autocad Architecture 2010, Autocad would crash.
    I searched the web forums to find that this is a known problem, which can be fixed by downloading the generic laserjet driver and using this, which I did.
    The file I downloaded is "upd-PCL6-x64-5.2.5.9108"
    All installed and tested and worked fine, until the next morning that is...........
    When I booted my PC up, all my printers were gone, and my local print spooler has stopped, and will not re-start, no matter what I try......
    Anyone have any sugguestions, I have un-installed all printers that I could find, but cannot "add printer" as I just get an error message that the print spooler is not running, please start the spooler or restart you computer.....
    Help............. Help..................
