HP Laserjet Pro - stuck initializing

Seems to be a known issue - has anyone resolved their initializing issue?  I am having the same and have tried all suggestions.  What are these Special Instrucitons that can only be sent via private message?

Hi @tmbluhm ,
I see that you are experiencing issues with the printer getting stuck intializing. I can help you.
What happened prior to this error message? (paper jam, changed a toner)
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
I wasn't sure what steps you have already tried, so I am including these steps to try if you haven't already.
Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.
Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.
Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.
Update the printer's firmware.
I can send a private message with some another step to try, once I know which model you have.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
Please let me know.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • HP Laserjet Pro 100 Color MFP M175nw installation issue

    Hello,
I have a problem installing my HP Laserjet Pro 100 Color MFP M175nw wirelessly. Back in time when I first installed it, it took me a few installations, but suddenly it was installed. Now after a lot of tries, I still get stuck at the part where the USB cable have to be used to pass the network details to the printer. It get stuck at 15% and after a while it gives the error that I have to connect my printer, although it is plugged and the installation initially continued.
When I put my cable, Win7 is also itself installing the printer, can that be the issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Laserjet pro 100 color mfp m175

We have a number of HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175's in our school.  They are connected to the network via ethernet cable rather than wirelessly. A number of users print to them either from a Windows XP (running service pack 2) desktop or from a Windows 7 (newly built) laptop.  They were working fine for a few days and then all of a sudden they may have any of the following problems:
unsupported personality error printed at the top of a lot of pages (ie you may try and print one page but hundreds of pages come out with this error).
there may be an invalid driver error on the control panel on the printer
there may be weird alien-looking characters at the top of hundreds of blank pages
initially all of the printers had the driver installed that came with the printers, when we started getting the error, we then tried running the diagnostics doctor on the hp web site, which said all the drivers were valid.  We have also tried using the universal print driver from the HP support website, but still get the problem after a few days.  We can make all of the errors go away by re-installing any of the above drivers, but then the problem starts happening again after a few days. The server is Windows 2003R2 running service pack 2, we have tried installing the drivers on the server too, but they won't install. Another printer was set up this week in the school office which only has people printing from Windows 7 machines and doesn't have the error - this could be because it's too soon to happen yet, or maybe because there are no Windows XP machines printing to it? (It does print through the same server as the others)  Help would be greatly appreciated, we are a school and so can't afford to be wasting lots of paper, plus this is taking up all of our time rather than fixing other issues!  thanks in advance

Tammy, sounds like there could be a couple things that might cause this issue. The first of which is that the RJ45 cable you are using to connect the printer might have become corrupted. I would replace that cord and see if the issue remains.
Second, I want you to see about updating the firmware from this website :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5076465
If that still presents issues, you can use that same website to download the more recent drivers. I would uninstall the old version you have on the computer and then open that link and install the full feature software.
Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!
I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope that the weather where you are located is as beautiful there as it is here!

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

    Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
    Wireless On Pass
    Wirelss Working Pass
    Network Name SSID Found Fail
    Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!
    Any help would be great

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.
Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5076465
The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.

  • Can't install Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw

I'm having trouble installing the drivers for my new Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw AIO printer.  I'm using a Sony Vaio VPCX118LG running Windows 7. I initially successfully installed the software from the disk provided some weeks ago, and had the printer running satisfactorily.  About 3 weeks ago, I attempted unsuccessfully to install Office 2013 on the 32 system, and finally gave up trying and went back to Office 2010.  Since about that time, I've been unable to use either of my M177s (I have two printers in my two offices in different cities; the one in Sydnay is working fine with my HP Pavilion desktop up there, but now won't work with my laptop, as won't the other identical printer in Canberra). I've tried uninstalling the software (using the Uninstall utility on the disk provided with the printer) and reinstalling.  The install process seems to be proceeding normally but at about 99% complete stops with a message about a "Fatal Error".  When monitoring the process using the Windows dialogue, the failure appears to coincide withthe installation of the last driver (after the Scan, Fax, USB Printer, etc...the one called, "HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP m177fw"). I've tried downloading the installation files and drivers from the HP website and installing from the disk provided, but neither method works. Can someone there offer any help, please? Claude

Hi ,  I think it's time to take the proverbial gloves off.  I suggest you try a selective start up on your PC working directly with MSCONFIG to try and determine what, if any Windows service or program is interfering with your ability to install the drivers.  Here's how:   Click on the Start menuIn the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens click 'Selective Startup' and uncheck Load Startup ItemsClick the Services tab. Check the box at the bottom for Hide All Microsoft ServicesSelect Disable AllSelect Apply and OKRestart your computer when promptedAfter you reboot, try the install again.  If you're able to finish the setup we can safely assume there is a background program or service on your computer blocking the install. You will need to enable one service at a time on your computer to locate the program that's blocking your printer from printing.   Here's how to undo the above-noted MSCONFIG steps:  Click the Start icon.In the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens click 'Normal Startup'Click Apply and OKRestart your computer as prompted.  If this approach falls short I recommend you reach out to our tech support team. You can click on the following link to initiate a case: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Once you fill out the online form to create your case you can choose from different direct contact methods. Best of luck,

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 color M251n unresponsive in Sleep Mode

Printer: HP Laserjet Pro 200 color M251n
    Firmware: 2014-06-04 , Version 20140521
    Problem:
Since the latest Firmware update the printer is unresponsive in Sleep/Standby Mode no Events (all configured to wake up the printer) will wake the printer up. Even to connect via Webinterfac the printer is not responding. Ping also Fails.
Tried to connect the printer to another Printer Switch Port/ wall plug changed network cables nothing worked.
The only solution is to hard reset the printer (power off/on) to get the printer working again.
Played around with the EcoSmart configuration but doesn't matter what is selected there its always the same that the printer stuck in Sleep/standby mode and won't responde.
Is there somewhere the old FIrmware to be downloaded to try a downgrade if this would help?
I really don't think there is anythink else I could try.
    This question was solved.

we are on a comany network and I guess our network won't be the problem (cisco switches for our printer lan)
in the meantime we replaced the HP Printer with a small xerox printer as we still have warranty we might give it back to vendor.
I don't think there is any issue related with network settings if none of the wake up events are working.
Bad Firmware I would call it.

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 ColorMFP m276nw stopped printing

I installed my HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP m276nw printer a couple of months ago and set it up for network printing. It has been working perfectly for everyone in my house until now. Everytime I try to print, nothing happens. Others in my household who are on the network can print. When I go to the Print Queue dialogue box, I get the message: "Printing--the printer is not responding." If I go into the Printers and Faxes application in System Preferences, it shows this printer as Idle. I have tried restarting my laptop (Macbook Air), turned the printer off and on, turned Wi-fi off and on, turned Bluetooth off and on, even tried connecting to the printer via cable. What else can I do?

  • Hp Laserjet Pro M1530 MFP Mac OS 10.6.8

I just bought this Laserjet and have installed it correctly as far as I can see. For the Scan function according to Manual I open the HP Director and click Scan. However there is no Scan function to be found in the HP director.
Pls HELP!!!! I need the scan working asap

    Hi Mirre,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having issues scanning on the 10.6. You have no scan function in the HP Director software.
I will be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for how to scan with Apple software to see if you have the same results.
How to Scan: OS X v10.7.
    Disregard the title.
Select Scan without HP software. Select Method three.
If you didn't run through the fax software during the initial install it won't allow you to scan. (even if you aren't using the fax you have to run it)
If your not sure go ahead and run the fax setup assistant.
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar click Go, applications, Hewlett Packard, device utility, open the HP setup assistant and run it.
You should also have one listed as HP Scan to try and run it.
On the Apple menu bar click Go, applications, Hewlett Packard, open the HP Scan and try to scan.
    Now try and scan again.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
Were you able to scan from Apple's software?
Did you run the setup assistant and were you able to scan?
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is this the Laserjet Pro M1536?

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn Color Multifunction Printer unable to connect to webapps, webforms

    Hello,
I'm able to print to my printer - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer - over my local network and the printer is connected to the router via wireless connection.  No connectivity issues as far as the local network goes..
The problem I'm having is that for the past week (perhaps longer but I only noticed it a week ago) I'm unable to download the web forms or web apps from the printer's screen menu.  I keep getting the message: Unable to connect to the network, please check your network connection etc etc etc.
I successfully printed to my hpeprint email address, so at least the printer is connected to the eprint network, but still can't access/download any of the web forms or web apps.
Has anyone experiencd this?  I'm really stuck, can't figure out what the issue could be seeing as how the printer seems to be working over the local network and am able to print documents that I send to me hp e-print email address.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance... Robert

You're lucky to have SOME ePrint functionality left! I got a new m177fw from HP and the printer simply won't enable ePrint. I get a constant connecting screen or connection error screen. There aren't any problems with my network and I spoke with a HP customer service representative over the phone and it seems they are clueless that ePrint is currently broken on HP's end.

  • Doesn't feed paper. color laserjet pro mfp m177fw

I just bought the Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw. I removed all the packing as instructed in the installation guide.
While initializing the printer makes a strange noise. When I try to print it gives me a message to load paper. No matter how much paper I load in tray 1 it gives me the same message.  I removed the paper and tray 1. Then using a torch I looked in the bin and I don't even see the white metallic rod  moving when I give a print command. I suspect that there is something stopping the metalic rod from rotating. I see two black clips on both ends of the rod. Manual didn't mention it but was I suppose to take them out? Or there is another problem?
    Need help.
    Thanks

    Hi @fkk ,
I read your post and see that the new printer is initializing and the printer makes a strange noise. You are also getting the message to "load paper". I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
It sounds like there might be some more packing material inside the printer.  Please check and remove any packaging material inside the printer. Here is a document for Setting Up the Printer Hardware for HP Color LaserJet Pro M177fw MFP Printers.
Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.

  • New color laserjet pro mfp m177 will not scan or copy

Product is new. The problem is that this unit will not scan or copy.  I downloaded the latest drivers, but they would not install completely.  I also ran thru some trouble shooting guides on the HP website, but still it doesn't work.  It tries to make a copy, but it acts like it starts and then stops without completing the function.  It's almost like the scanner mechanism is stuck.  Anyone ever have this problem with a brand new printer?

Hello , Thanks for posting in the HP Forums, and welcome! I understand you are unable to make a copy or scan on your new HP Color LaserJet Pro M177fw MFP. I'd like to help you with this. Firstly, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers. If the issue persists, I would suggest download and installing the most recent firmware for your unit. You can download the firmware update utility here:HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw Firmware UpdateNote: You will need to connect the printer via USB to update the firmware, as any interruption during the firmware update can cause more issues. If this still does not resolve the issue, please let me know if you are getting some sort of error message on the screen or any blinking lights to indicate what the problem may be. Hope this helps!
