Hi my HP 1102 is a great printer but now has a problem printing all black on anything i print
    thanks

    Hi @chloana ,
I see that you are having issues with the pages all printing black. I would like to help you out today.
Most likely it would be caused by the toner, hardware issue with the printer or the fuser.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
    2. Check the memory chip for damage.
    3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, toner or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
    5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
I have provided a document for Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
What kind of paper are you using?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • Laserjet 400 m401n printing all black

We have a lot of these black Laserjet Pro 400 m401n's.  We have a few that have been dying where they only are pingable for a few minutes and then they lose all network connectivity.  So we have been replacing those as they go.    I have a spare unit that came to me because it was printing all black.  Yes all black.  We tried different toner first but it was still all black.  Note, it prints all black from the demo page on the front panel - not even connected to the network, so this is strictly a hardware issue as no drivers are involved. I dissasembled the printer and I swapped the control board on the left hand side with a known working one.  Still prints all black.   I went through the painsteaking process of swapping out the fuser assemebly, as buried as it is in these things (note these must NOT be meant to be taken out!!!!).  Still prints all black.   I swapped the laser scanning unit at the top of the printer thinking maybe its faulty and always on full blast, causing black printouts.  Nope... its still prints all black. I swapped the small connection board on the right side of the printer where the laser assembly connects into (amongsts a few other wires), thinking maybe one (or both) of the transistors on that board could be bad.  Nope... it still prints all black. What else left is there?  The power supply board maybe?  Could that cause it?  Is there another part you would reccomend I look at?  I have this one that prints all black, and I have another "doner" one that just randomly jams all the time (even with new rollers)  So I'd just like to get one good working printer out of these.

    > so this is strictly a hardware issue as no drivers are involved. Yup. > Still prints all black.   Ok its not the controller. > Still prints all black.   Ok its not the fuser. >  its still prints all black. OK its not the laser itself > it still prints all black. Not that part either. > What else left is there?  Formatter board hasnt been mentioned.  Something is sending a command to the printer that is telling it to open up the doors and charge the entire page.  Normally the laser is responsible for charging the media.  As the media passes over the toner doors it atracts toner particles.  Then as the paper continues it rolls past the fuser where heat melts the particles into permanent place. > The power supply board maybe?   Perhaps but not likely.  If you have a spare you could try it but power supply problems usually result with the machine unable to boot or print correctly, not printing too much as you have described here. > Is there another part you would reccomend I look at?
You could try the old Halfway test just to verify that the problem is coming from teh laser/toner part of the printer.  http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/halfway-test Your paper may have somehow gotten a staic charge that opposes the charge of the toner, thus auto attracting all particles in range as it passes over the toner doors.  Might want to grab a fresh ream of paper to test and rule somethign crazy like that out. Not very many options left after that.

  • Re PDF"s printing all black.

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble printing some PDF's only. Some are fine, others print a whole page of black.
Even though it appears normal on the monitor. If I save as a postscript and open in Preview it is also all black. I'm using Adobe Acrobat on Powerbook G4 , OSX 10.4.11.
The same files print normally on my PC, Windows XP, (that hurts).
    Any help really appreciated.
    tnx jeremy

Well, I guess we should start with this... can you highlight any text in the PDF & maybe copy it? Or is it just a pic of Text?
What happens if you Save As say a JPG in Preview?
    Seems an Adobe problem..
I'm running OSX 10.5.8, installed adobe 9. Now while surfing using Safari some pages load automatically into adobe pdf, but background is totally black

Objects with spot colors in PDF's that have been created with Adobe Acrobat 6 on Macintosh OS X (10.2.6) import into FreeHand MX 11.0.1 as missing, white or black. The PDF files created with the Acrobat 6 format have also been reported as having issues with FreeHand MX and even other applications like Illustrator.
This has also been reported with CMYK-TIFF images that have drop shadows applied to them.

  • Print preview looks fine but window space on worksheets prints all black

Recently purchased new HP Deskjet 1512 .    I digitize embroidery and Chenille designs.   Since purchasing the new printer,
intermittently  the worksheets , which look fine on the print preview,  will print completely black in the window workspace
area.   The rest of the page prints ok.     I have already had the problem trouble-shooted with my software company.  I've been told that the printer driver is most likely the problem.    Windows 7 Professional is my operating system.   Has anyone encountered this problem???

    Hey,
    1. Uninstall the printer software (*click on the Windows 7 instructions) >> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02259020&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...
    2. A clean boot of the computer to get the clutter out of the way. Here is how to do that >> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    3. Restart the Computer.
    4. Disable all of your firewalls and anti-virus scanners.
    5. Reinstall the software off of hp.com.
Best of luck let me know how it goes.

  • Acrobat docs print all black

Our 'workhorse' LJ 5Si has beeen with us for YEARS - and has pretty much always been able to do everything..
This 5Si has a JetDirect Ethernet connection on our LAN and everyone prints to it routinely... it gets a lot of usage...
But now, we suddenly have a recurrent 'new issue' with ONLY ONE OF OUR EIGHT COMPUTERS (!!!).
Suddenly, it seems that every Acrobat 'pfd' document he attempts to print yields a page that is so totally black as to be unreadable.. 100% coverage (except the margin areas)....  As this user described it: "as dark as black cat in a coal mine at midnight...".
Mysteriously, this also happens when he prints to our other 'workhorse' printer, an HP LJ 8500 color laser....  so this is obviously something to do with THIS PC and the PCL drivers for these two lasers, as NONE of the other seven PCs has this problem...  They all can print without problems to both of these printers.
They can all print the same documents that THIS PC cannot...
And yet, a cantankerous old HP LJ 4 prints like a gem... every time... from this same PC.  (PCL 5 vs PCL 4...?)
We've tried 'updating' the HP PCL drivers (after first trying the 'default' Microsoft drivers, we then downloaded all new HP drivers), we've tried upgrading Acrobat, we've tried un-installing ALL of this (printer drivers as well as Acrobat), we've tried un-installing and deleting all associated folders for both - we've even tried creating a new user account...  Seems like nothing works....
I'm about to 'blow away' Windows and re-install EVERYTHING (and that's one DAUNTING task, no doubt ... as an architectural firm, there's alot of software to re-load), so before I resort to this 'last ditch scenario', I thought I'd post a "HELP!" here and see if anyone has a clue as to what the heck is going on here...
I REALLY don''t look forward to spending the next ten hours re-building Windows XP Pro and ALL the software setup on this workstation...
Even though this PC is less than a year old (Core2-Duo @ 2.66 GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM,  250GB RAID-1 hard disks, etc.), I'd rather buy an entirely NEW PC than spend my time re-building this Windows OS and all the software...  Yee-Gods!
    Help...?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

So from my understanding, only printing from the acrobat software from one PC to 2 different HP Laserjets causes the pages to come out black.
    Test pages print ok?
pages from other applications print ok?
It's likely an adobe issue, probably some kind of conflict with an update or something, have you tried slowly rolling back the windows updates to a date where the printer was working?
The only other off the wall thing I can think of is a really funky network issue or bad cable but that should theoretically effect all applications.
Good luck but I think you are looking at a complete uninstall/reinstall if the driver/app removal didn't resolve.

  • Printing CD jewel cases prints all black

Can you help me with that problem??  I am running iTunes version
10.3.2... the  album covers on the CD Jewel Case are still printing that HUGE,
SOLID  BLACK SQUARE. I too have reported it to Apple iTunes support team
several times .. no response received. I too have noticed on the  internet that
there are literally HUNDREDS of us who are encountering  very same problem. I'm
convinced there is a serious bug in the recently  released iTunes update. This
is not my own artwork, it is album covers  which should print using White Mosaic
to create a CD jewel case cover.

I  finally solved this problem after toiling with it for a couple of  days.  Solution:  Once you have  burned your CD you must go back into  iTunes to your music/playlists and select the playlist you just burned  and click file; print and you will  get the mosaics that we have been  accustomed to.  I was on hold with  Apple Support when I found this  myself.  Yes......!!! Problem solved..for me anyway.  Good luck!

  • 2800 prints all black

Color Laserjet 2840 prints a full black page when printing via the HP Print Service Plugin.
Same results when printing from LG G2 and Nexus 6 devices.  Both running the HP Print Service Plugin.

Try Print as Image. It is in the Advanced Print dialog in the lower left hand corner. So go to file/print, click on the Advanced button in the lower left and then check Print as Image. If this works then it is your printer driver not being able to interpolate the postscript information. Good Luck!

  • Deskjet 3050 does only print JPG files in color - all other docs are only printed in black and white

    Dear All,
I have a problem with my Deskjet 3050 Printer. (USB connected with my laptop).
My printer won't print colored documents in color but only in black and white (except for JPG files (photos) which are printed in color.
Word documents or PDF files (for example) are always printed in black and white - even if these are in color.
Copying colored pages with my printer is no problem.
This works perfectly well. The printer is connected to my PC via USB.
The cartridges (color and black and white) are practically new and original HP cartridges.
Could the problem be related to the printer settings which I might have changed by accident.
Thanks in advance for your advise.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • HP 6500 all in one not printing in black and cartridge is full

my printer suddenly stopped printing in black, all other colors come out fine.  The carriage moves as though it is printing, but the page is blank, where black text should be.  I have cleaned and aligned the print heads several times.  This occurred after an HP tech uninstalled and reinstalled my HP software and drivers.  Prior to this had problems on and off, but it was easy to run print and scan to repair it.  Now print and scan says they find no problem with the printer.

    Hey @Theresalbritt,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are not able to print in black ink on your HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this print quality issue. Thank you for including the troubleshooting steps you have completed prior to reaching out for support. To start troubleshooting I am going to have you print a standalone Print Quality Diagnostics Report from your printer. This report will help us determine if this issue was caused by a software or driver conflict on your computer or a hardware issue on your printer that coincidentally occured when the HP Technical Support agent was working with you. Once we determine if this issue is hardware or software and driver related I will be happy to guide you towards a solution. Please follow the steps below.
    How to Print Quality Report:
On the product control panel, press the Setup button () until Print Report displays, and then press OK.
Press the Right Arrow button () to select Print Quality Report, and then press OK. The report prints.
If this report prints perfectly: Than the issue that you're experiencing is not hardware related. Rather, there is a driver or software conflict occuring on your computer that is affecting your black print quality. Please do not proceed with troubleshooting at this time.
If this report prints with quality defects or missing black: Than the quality issue that you're experiencing is being caused by a hardware issue within your printer. This issue may be due to a defective Printhead system. In no way does the computer affect this hardware issue. To resolve this conflict can I please have you click here. Once the support document opens please run through Solution one, Solution five, and Solution six. This includes any sub-steps under the listed Solutions. However, because you note that you have already cleaned the Printhead multiple times do not run a Printhead cleaning again. You do not want to exceed three Printhead cleans if there is no difference in quality because when you clean the Printhead ink is used. If three cleans has not resolved your issue proceeding with additional cleans will just waste ink. Should the black printing issue persist please click here and run Step 7 and Step 8 to manually clean and soak the Printhead mechanism.
Please respond to this post with the result of your print quality troubleshooting. Good luck!

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • ALL PDFs created are printing in ALL Black

We are running Acrobat 8.1.2, along with the entire CS suite. We have 7 other staff that are running the same software with exactly the same preferences. All of a sudden, my software prints ALL PDFs either created or received, in ALL BLACK. Printers haven't changed, settings haven't changed. I even removed the printers and re-installed them. Most recently I installed a third party plug-in, Quite Imposing. Could this have corrupted Acrobat. It hasn't in the past. Any ideas why my PC would produce copy in all black?
