Hi all,
sorry for my englisch . I have server with 4 network ports , but only 2 is connected . The scom alert me to 2 port is not connected. Can I overrite this behavior and control only 2 connected ports ?
thanx

You can override it by override rule of monitor of object.
To configure override rule, refer to below link

HP Storage Management Pack Conflicts with Network Monitoring SNMP
The HP Storage management pack that I installed requires starting the Windows SNMP services, which creates a conflict with SNMP used for SCOM network monitoring. I am spinning up a second SCOM mangement server so I can split these functions. What would
you recommend to split these functions across the two management servers? Uninstall the HP Storage Management Pack, and install on the new server? Or move the network monitoring to the second server?
Thank you for your help!Does the HP Storage pack support resource pools? What I've found with these 3rd party packs that implement connector services is they do not provide true HA via SCOM resource pools - they are standalone systems with a connector service. This is true for
the NetApp (DataONTAP) pack, and it's a huge disappointment.
Vendors do this because they have an API, and they think the only way to implement discovery and monitoring in SCOM is to create a service that accesses the API - and then the service is basically a collector in this case, and typically has a handful of
rules (sometimes just one rule) that scrape events on the management server and they are misinterpreted to be alerts coming from some instance.
I turn green when I run into this type of problem, because all this can be accomplished with native modules or managed code that are designed to work very well with SCOM.
I know this doesn't answer your question - it's more a way for me to express my distain for these type of packs.

HP Management Pack - why would a rule be used for a network card error?
Hi,
I am asking this question with regard to the HP proliant management pack but my question is about the more general "rule" v "monitor" question which generally I understand (I think).
We get alerts for HP network card failures. This is rule based and basically looks for event "2" in the event logs. The same thing happens though if a cable gets pulled or a switch fails for a few seconds for instance.
The question I am getting asked by admins is to override this as its a "false alarm". I have pointed out people shouldnt just pull a network cable (maintenance mode please!) and if switches are failing then use the SCOM alert to let the network
team know... Plus if the card genuinly does fail this is the alert. BUT they are asking why isnt this a monitor anyway? If the network card is OK I think event 4 gets logged. So why didnt HP write it as a monitor that would close when it sees the success event?
My main thinking was if they had you wouldnt get to know about intermitant faults that dont last long. For instance the card would be down for 30 seconds but the monitor would close as soon as it was back up and you wouldnt see it.
Any thoughts?
thanksMy guess is because they have tools that compete with MSFT and do not sell their MP's. So now they have to have one of their own FTE's creating a management pack for a competing product to monitor their hardware. If it worked better than HP Openview,
then maybe more people would switch to Openview and dump SCOM...
Honestly it comes down to resources, and the fact, similar to MSFT management packs, they are FREE, so how can you justify spending all the time and resources to create something and then give it away for free? You can't, so you speed through it, and
drop it to the public, let them find the issues, and stress test it, etc. (not a fact, just my honest opinion after working with this product for over 13 years). MSFT is guilty of this as well, they have had their fair share of problem management
packs...but they are FREE.

VRealize Operations Management Packs for Lenovo Compute and Lenovo Network Switches
Lenovo Systems Management Community Members:
Blue Medora is currently developing a two new and distinct VMware vRealize Operations Management Packs aimed at Lenovo datacenter technology -- a vROps MP for Lenovo Compute as well as a vROps MP for Lenovo Network Switches. Our target is to release both vROps MPs in the September timeframe. Both of the MPs will support vROps v6+. If vROps integration with Lenovo Compute and/or Lenovo Network Switches is something that is relevant to you, our product management team is very interested in talking to you about what aspects of the Lenovo-based compute and network infrastructure you like to see surfaced in vROps, models of Lenovo servers and network switches your your organization most commonly leverages, as well as any specific troubleshooting / diagnostic use cases you have around Lenovo compute and network.
Please drop us a line at [email protected] if you'd like to participate in a pre-release program for the vROps MPs for Lenovo Compute and Lenovo Network Switches.Sorry for being a bit slow in responding. Adapting the settings for my wired ethernet adapter as rdhw suggested solved the problem. (But since I am not using any wake-on features, I simply opted to turn them off instead.)
Interestingly, I had previously looked at these settings in the BIOS and turned them off there (forgot to mention this), but it appears the Device Manager settings were overriding the BIOS settings.
So, I still find Access Connections to be slow (it will take maybe half a minute or so to figure out what is happening when I switch between wireless and wired connections), and also getting the X200 to go to sleep takes more time than it used to do (it used to go to sleep momentarily when I, say, closed the lid, whereas now it will need to think for 10-15 seconds first), but at least everything works reasonably well now.
Which is nice, and I don't want to break anything that I don't have the time to fix, so I think I will leave it at this for the time being. Thanks so much for the help (and for the prompt reply)! -
HP Storage Management Pack woes
I seem to be having an issue since I imported this management pack into my test environment. I'm running SCOM 2012 R2 with v3 of the Storage pack and installed the SNMP Collector on an agent managed server. However when I installed the management
pack (3PAR) and enabled the 3PAR SNMP Trap Catcher discovery I did it against the Windows Computer Class instead of the specific server I wanted to target. Now all computers running the service SNMP TRAP are showing as discovered inventory generating alerts
of OpsMgr failed to run a WMI Query for WMI events.
I tried to stop this by creating a new override for disabling the discovery and setting it to enforce. Then using the Remove-SCOMDisabledClassInstances cmdlet but it's made no difference.
I've also tried clearing the cache on individual agents.
Any ideas?
ThanksI had exactly the same issue this week. My DB filled up with event logs. Once I realised I had targeted the whole Windows Computer Class, I removed the enable override for the SNMP Trap Catcher object discovery, but the events continued to pile in.
In the end I had to remove all of the HP Storage v3.1 MPs and start again.
Currently having new issues now with a P2000 that is reporting in via SCOM's Native Discovery, but won't appear under the HP Storage MP. Now looking to use a collection point for the traps that ISN'T one of the SCOM Management servers, as it appears there
is a known issue with this......
On page 123 of the HP Storage MP user guide:
Known Behavior
Unable to collect SNMP traps from HP Storage Management Pack for System Center. Microsoft has implemented a workaround from OpsMgr to move the SNMP trap collection server to a separate Management server which is not a part of Network Resource Pool/Discovery
Server. This will allow the SNMP Trap service to listen on port 162 and collect traps.
Sheeeesh..
And just realised that ther is now a new MP called HP StoreFront Manager 4.0 which seems to effectively be the latest version of HP Storage MP:

Hp compaq d610 d40 laptop network port doesn't wake up
I have tried looking for a fix for this and can't find one so if there is one and i've missed, it my apologies but basically...
I have a hp compaq d610 model d40 and with the basic windows xp installation and the default drivers (hp) on, when the system goes into stand and then is brought out of the standby mode everything wakes up except for the network port and the only way to get this to wake up is to go into device manage and scan for hardware changes or reboot.
I have tried different drivers, bios changes (not update) with no luck but strangelly enough the other 3 makes and models of the same laptop work fine.
Now, before I look into bios updates has anybody come across this?
CheersYou might consider sending it in for repairs

Turns on then shuts off immediatly
Turns on and beeps 3 times (1 long and 2 short)
Turns on, black screen and keeps restarting by itself
White or grey screen sometimes with horizontal lines
Press power button and nothing happens what so ever (seems dead) (mostly on DV2000 models)
Intel models boot to backlight but no screen

HP Storage Management Pack v4.0 for Operations Manager
Hi everyone,
I've installed HP StoreFront Manager MP for Microsoft 4.0 (HP Storage Management integration with MS System Center) on a Ops Mgr 2012 R2 Server
The diagram view of the two P4500 G2 StoreVirtual Appliances are shown without issue.
However I cannot get any alerts, error alerts, events, warning events showing in the HP Storage or HP StoreVirtual Storage MP folders
I've created new alert/event view/criteria "show data related to: HP Storevirtual SNMP trape catcher rule ALL
But this also shows nothing.
I've followed the HPStorageManagementPackforSystemCenterUserGuide-4.0.pdf to no avail.
Any ideas most appreciated.

Reporting Looking for Management Packs
Hello,
I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR4. I wanted to setup a scheduled report to show me a list of computers in a critical health state. But when I go to the Reporting tab, it is asking me to import management packs. Which MP's do I need for Reporting?I got this issue once. I had installed SCOM reporting components but the reports were not showing up.
If you disable the Windows Firewall on reporting server, reports will populate in the SCOM operations console. Another way is by creating a new inbound rule on the Reporting server, allowing communication for TCP port # 80 and 443. see if that helps.

Application Management Packs for OEM11g?
Anybody heard anything about the porting of management packs? PeopleSoft specifically is my concern..

Oracle Application Management Pack for Siebel 10gR4 is GA
Oracle Application Management Pack for Siebel 10gR4 is now generally available.
Go to this OTN page if you want more information about the product.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/prod_focus/app_mgmt.html
You may also download it from OTN to try it out as part of Enterprise Manager 10gR4. We will be demonstrating it at booths D8 and J7 at the Oracle Demoground at Moscone South Hall, at session S291922 at Moscone West L2-2001 on Monday, 11/12 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., and at the Siebel Pack Hands-on Lab (S294089) at Marriott Hotel Golden Gate Room B1 on Thursday, 11/15 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The Siebel Pack is designed to be a complete and integrated management tool for Siebel. Using this management pack, you may get proactive alerts on impending problems on the application, examine run-time statistics to troubleshoot and tune performance, compare configurations across different environments, keep track of configuration changes, proactively enforce configuration policies in order to avoid configuration related problems, monitor and report on service level delivered by the application and performance diagnostics of user and server performance. The pack may be used with other Oracle Enterprise Manager management packs and plug-in’s to achieve end-to-end management of the entire application environment, including both Oracle and non-Oracle databases, operating systems, storage and network devices.
The 10gR4 release of this pack adds integrated Siebel Transaction Diagnostic support using data captured via Siebel Application Response Measurement (SARM) framework. With this tool, you may:
- Analyze request processing for individual user requests
- Analyze CPU and memory consumption of processing requests for different Siebel Server Components
- Visualize SARM metric data graphically
- Compare performance profiles over time
- Create performance reports and share them with your co-worker for collaborative performance diagnostics
The 10gR4 version of this Siebel Transaction Diagnostic tool also adds support for Siebel 7.7 and 7.8 in addition to being compatible with Siebel 8.0. It is fully integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager, which eliminates the need for separate install and user maintenance, and it runs on all operating system platforms that Oracle Enterprise Manager supports.Working with the Oracle Enterprise Manager group to integrate closely with their monitoring solutions has been one of the most important advantages of joining the Oracle team. As our customers have started to use CRM more deeply as part of their business processes, CRM has quickly become Mission Critical, with 24/7 uptime requirements. Furthermore, as CRM becomes further integrated into the enterprise, knowing the status and health of the connections to multiple backend systems becomes evermore crucial.
Through our partnership with the Oracle Enterprise Manager, we aim to support true Enterprise-class CRM. We are the only solution out there with over six million live users, and we are leveraging the knowledge gained from those customers in our Enterprise Manager integration. With the real-time monitoring and diagnosis that Oracle Enterprise Manager provides, we simplify the process of managing sophisticated CRM implementations which span organizations and systems. If you have a Siebel implementation with four servers or more, or with integrations to several systems, you owe it to yourself to check out Oracle Enterprise Manager. -

Edited by: PerYcut on 01.03.2012 04:43You have a Radio Shack Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter or a Radio Shack HDMI-HDMI cable? Both, I'll assume.
You should have the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port on your MBP. Then the HDMI-HDMI cable plugs into that adapter and into an available HDMI input on the TV, and the TV should have that input source selected.
Does that sound like the way you have things set up?
HDMI cables should all have similar function. Some users have reported problems with some brands of Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter. -
HP Storage Management Pack 3.0
Hello,
Is any one successful in getting diagram view of HP storage devices using HP Storage Management Pack 3.0 for SCOM 2012. I could successfully send SNMP test traps from storage nodes to SCOM server. My configuration is Gateway server in an untrusted
domain and have trouble connecting HP Storage Management Pack User Configuration Tool.exe
application to SCOM server from GW server domain. It is not clear which port is used by this tool/application to communicate with SCOM server. Any pointer in this regard is highly appreciated.

Disable Network Port Monitoring
I have a couple network switch ports that are no longer in use. The ports had a couple of OpsMgr agents plugged into them, so they showed up as monitored ports, but those computers have now been virtualized and the physical hardware was shut
down. The network port state is now showing as Critical health in OpsMgr because nothing is plugged in. I tried to run the Disable Port Monitoring task, but it does not seem to do anything. Any ideas?By default, Operations Manager 2012 will only monitor ports that are connected to another device that is being monitored. Ports that are not connected will not be monitored."
If you don't have a device connected to any port that is already monitored by SCOM, you can manually enabling selected interface monitors, i.e. open the Diagram view of the interface, navigate to the port, open the Health Explorer of the port, select
the monitor such as Interface Status -> Operational Status, and create an override to enable that monitor.
