HP Media Smart Photo problem

I have a HP Pavilion p6310y PC, when I view a picture from my picture library then try to close the program I get the following message "HP MediaSmart photo main program is not responding". I didn't have problems with this until a few months ago. I just didn't have the time to ask for a solution to this problem. Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall HP MediaSmart Photo - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
Recovery Manager - Windows 7
Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the PC.

I would perform the same steps as outlined that worked for the other customer.
Reinstall the application with Recovery Manager
    Restart the PC
After the reboot open the application and see if the problem continues.

  • Hp media smart photo

Hi, I have hp media smart photo system.  I tried to send pictures to snapfish, who I already have an account with, but it tells me that your username or password is wrong.  I have changed password 3 times.  I go directly in to snapfish from on line and sign right in with no problems.  How can I fix this without losing my photos that are already in media smart?
    Please help.
    I have windows 7

Has MediaSmart ever connected to Snapfish before?
I would recommend backing up all of the photos that are in MediaSmart because I wouldn't want you to lose any of them inadvertently in troubleshooting efforts.
I would like to see what version of MediaSmart Photo you have.
Open MediaSmart Photo > Click Settings > Click About > Make note of the version and post it in your reply, please.
Compare that version number with the latest version number below.
HP MediaSmart Photo Software version 4.1.4319 (sp49982)
If you have an earlier version than this. Go ahead and install the latest version. Even if you have the same version number it could be helpful to uninstall it and reinstall it, in case some part of the software became corrupt.
Let me know what steps you took if you don't mind and also let me know if it had ever connected to Snapfish before, if you don't mind. Hope this helps!

  • Trouble with HP Media Smart Photos

My HP Media Smart Photos has suddenly stopped working.  When I try to open my photos, it stays on for a few seconds and then closes.  I am thinking that I need to re-install the Media Smart Photo software; however, I have to uninstall the old software before I can re-install.  Won't I lose the photos that I have previously imported into Media Smart?
Second question:  has anyone had this problem with Media Smart Photos closing after a few seconds?

    Hi,
It does sound like the existing installation of MediaSmart Photo is corrupt, however the software only indexes images that are present on your hard drive, so uninstalling then reinstalling this product will not result in the loss of any pictures.
Note that when the reinstalling has completed, launch the software and let it re-index your media files - this can take a few minutes depending on the number of images.

  • Media Smart Photo Printing

I have a new HP and it has Media Smart. I transferred all of my photos to the new PC and they all loaded into Media Smart. I can access the pictures but when I try to print them it goes to the Fax center. I can get a pop up that says local printer but it goes right back to fax. Another window says I can close the program or go online to fix. I click go online and then everything freezes

Try installing the latest HP MediaSmart Photo software from the following weblink:

  • HP Media Smart not recognizing Digital Antenna after upgrading to Windows 7

HP Pavilion dv6t-1200 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and ever since I cannot seem to have HP Mediasmart recognize the digital formats for signal input. It only shows analog cable and analog antenna.
I also seem to have lost the all-in-one navigation tools from where I can choose if I need tv or dvd, etc.
I tried upgrading the driver for the tuner as recommended by HP Assistant but it does not seem to work. I also tried upgrades from the following page recommended by HP for my system:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4063&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3945150
I used to get more channels with HP Media Smart than with Windows Media Center. Btw, Windows Media Smart works just as fine after the upgrade.
    Please help. Thanks.

Here is a copy of my reply to this problem in another post.
This may be of no help but here goes. I am not a real computer person. Anyway I had the same problem and also lost the digital part of my tuner when I downloaded the W7 mediasmart live TV. After a lot of attempts to fix stuff I uninstalled Mediasmart live TV. It worked. Next I downloaded the W7 live TV. Installed but could not find it. Desperate I restored the Vista version from the partition. Could not find that either. Next I did a search (start menu) for mediasmart live tv. One thing was found which I clicked on. It appears another install took place.
Now Live TV works and I get full screen. Also my tuner went back to analog antenna/cable and digital antenna/cable (QAM). I really have no explaination for this but I'm back with W7. Can't find a version number but it's 71 mb in size at
    c:\program files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\media\live tv"
    Dumb luck
So that's what happened. I think the uninstall had something to do with solving the problem. Why I could not find the W7 download is beyond me. I was at a point where I didn't think I could make it worse so I thought I'd try anything. No TV problems with Windows Media Center during any of this.

I have the exact same problem.  I noticed this started after some windows update just prior to upgrading to Windows 7.  And then it got worse after the upgrade.
I'm having to go into the task manager and end the smartmenu.exe application just to stop the nagging volume bar across the middle of the screen and just to use the computer, but the Volume still jumps around rapidly.
Please, HP read this and help.

  • Media smart DVD stopped playing blue rays and no longer responds

I have a DV5z-1200 cto, os win7. i watch a lot of blue rays on it. i just purchased the new tron bluray and half way thru it froze. i tried to shut the machine off but it wouldnt respond. i was able to get into set up and noticed i had a new update (4.something). so i did it and now i get nothing. the drive just keeps rereading the same spot. i have uninstalled the update and when this happened Mediasmart stopped working all together. i reinstalled all the older versions but i couldn't find my original version 3.8 or something like that. i could then get a blu ray to start but now the message about you need to contact your firmware provider on the disk keeps popping up and the disks no longer play. can some one please help.

Uninstall your present Media Smart with Revo Uninstaller, use the trial.
     http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
Restart and install CCleanr and run it's registry cleaner and repeat until it finds nothing. When it finds nothing restart the machine. It will give the option to save a back up of the registry files you are about to delete, save these all as a precaution and note where they have been saved.
Personally I have never had to reinstall the files, but I like to save them anyway, and when you are satisfied that everything is fine, then you may delete them.
     http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Here is the Media Smart DVD file.  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-87326-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...
Save this to the desk top and right click to go to properties, and in the "Generals" tab it should read Size: 55,380,920 bytes and Size on disk: 55,382,016 bytes. If this is incorrect then you must disable Webroot Internet and try again.
If it is correct down load 7-Zip and right click to "extract files" open that folder and find the  "src' file. Open that and look for "Setup" the sixth one from the bottom. Click on that to install.
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html  (the one at the top of the list, type exe for 32 bit W7)
Before following this procedure for installation, make sure that you have disconnected from the internet and that your Webroot security is totally disabled. Remember to restart your machine after installing Media Smart and when it says "Press Play to Play" do not do this, it should load by it self.
This is a slightly older version, but I have tested with Tron and Harry Potter with ATI graphics and I know it works. The most recent on your support page is having a problem with some of the ATI graphics cards.
This procedure was discovered by another member on the forum, DavidPK, and so far has been the most successful. I am also hoping that disabling WebRoot will solve the problem here.

  • Smart Playlist Problems (Since Ver 5)

I have come across a problem, which I believe started when I installed Version 5.
I have many SMART playlists set up that are really for my iPod usage. They are set to pick certain tracks that have not been heard in xxx amount of days, and usually set to a certain number of songs, or a particular amount of time.
The ones I use most often:
SLEEP MUSIC - a playlist of random songs not played in the last 5 days limited to 90 minutes. I listen to this when I go to bed.
WORK MUSIC - a playlist of 100 random songs not played in the last 5 days. I play this through my inMotion dock at work.
Previously, all the smart playlists worked fine. When the songs were played, the playlist would update on the iPod and the next time I would enter that playlist on the iPod, the tracks would be different.
It still works this way as long as I don't connect my iPod to my PC and sync with iTunes. If I do, it always resets the iPod playlists to the songs that appear in the iTunes library. I rarely use these playlists on the PC, so they almost always stay the same.
It seems like in previous versions, iPod would update the iTunes library and the smart playlists would also be updated in iTunes, so that the iPod versions of the playlists would continue to be random. But now, if the playlist is different on the iPod, it will not transfer over to iTunes. Instead, the iTunes playlist is copied back over to my iPod, and I keep getting the same playlists over and over.
This is a major annoyance, as I usually sync my iPod every day since I am constantly updating my library.
I've also noticed that when I synch my iPod, it is copying over songs that are already there, and it always seems to be copying songs I recently played in the iTunes library.
I know that if the tag info is changed, or I add album art to a track, it will be copied over to the iPod again, but I am not making any changes to these tracks, just playing them in iTunes. I don't know if this is related to the smart playlist problem or not.
I thought about unchecking LIVE UPDATE on those playlists that cause a problem, but that doesn't work, as now I'd ALWAYS have the same playlist.
So, my next thought is to use the "Only update selected playlists" option in the preferences to exclude those playlists that have this problem. If I do this, will new music I add still be copied over to my iPod?
Has anyone else encountered these problems?
FYI - I have not updated to the latest iPod update because of smart playlist problems people were having. I have version 1.1 on my 60GB photo. Would updating perhaps fix this problem?
My bottom-line thought on this is that iTunes updates the iPod, but the iPod no longer updates the iTunes library as it previously did. My reasons for thinking this are 1) The playlist problems I am having as stated above, and 2) I notice when I change the ratings on the iPod, they are not changed in iTunes. I am going to do a test and change the rating on a track on the iPod, then I will synch my iPod to see if the track is updated in iTunes, or the file is copied back to the iPod with the old rating.

Reagrding tracks being copied over again, I've seen another post in iPod Lounge where that person indicated the same thing. He stated that the play count was not being updated between the iPod and iTunes, but that the tracks were being copied over again. This sounds like a good explanation of this problem.
I have now noticed many of the tracks which I know I have played in the past show a "0" play count. Are the play counts kept in the iTunes library files (iTunes.xml and iTunes.itl)?
I always save the library files, so that when I reinstall iTunes I can just copy these 2 files back to their proper locations and I have my entire library intact - playlists and all. My music library is on a different drive.
Anyway, I KNOW I have played these tracks on the iPod, and yet they show unplayed on iTunes. This is probably another symptom of the re-copying tracks problem.

  • Since a sys recovery my hp dv6-2111tx wont recognize digital transmissions in media smart

first-the mouse stopped working. before warranty could be accessed, i had to perform a system recovery.
mouse didnt come good. and hp media smart stopped recognizing digital reception. only analogue was present.
mouse was fixed under warranty. (motherboard needed replacing). still the digi trans issue was present.
made numerous requests to hp. they say my warranty is expired. i give them my ext. number and get a different response each time. (not the issue here).
the latest response is that I'm not under warranty. they won't help. (again, not the issue).
i just want to watch TV on my laptop. it was one of the reasons i chose this model.
(i have since found out that it is an american model).
i have been struggling for close to 6 months. i have made no progress.
    can anyone help?....

    Hi Greg,
The product key on your COA label will only work for the version your notebook shipped with - ie Windows 7 Home Premium - but with the correct Image, it may be the best option considering the problem with reading the recovery media
The image file for Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit can be downloaded from the link below - the source is Digital River.
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit.
Also, you'll probably need to use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to complete activation after installing the OS.
