HP Mini 1000 Netbook Lost / Forgotten Bios Password

I have inherited an HP Mini 1000. I would very much like to access it to get my lost one's files. The battery looks a bit swollen, but it doesn't look like it's has hard use. It is XP.
The Bios, not the WIndows login screen comes up and asks for the password. I have no idea, and can't possibly recover it.

Hi,
Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Hi, If your machine is producing a hexadecimal halt code, this would indicate it has a more recent AMI bios, in which case, you only have two options at the moment.
1. Contact HP and see if they can help with an unlock code - start Here.
2. It would appear that the hash is not stored in nvram and that removing the cmos cell, holding down the power button for a minute, then leaving it for a couple of hours before re-assembly will actually clear the password - the bad news if you wish to try this is that the cell is on the wrong side of the system board - see Page 127 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Forgotten Bios Password on HP Folio 13-2000

Hello, I've tried entering a BIOS password a few times but eventually it locked me out saying "System Disabled" with the code 52162908. What can I do to reset the password and get into the BIOS? Many thanks!

Please read the first post at the link below which should resolve your dilemma. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Sy... Then... You can: 1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS
2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.
3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code
4. For new password, just press ENTER key
5. Repeat the same for verify password column.

I set bios password of my HP EliteBook 8440p over a half year ago & now I have forgot that password can anyone please tell me how to recover it back. My login password is not affected only bios isn't working. when I try a wrong password to bios manu it did not return system disable message but it return press power button to restart it. Forgotten bios passwords

Hi, I have two Elitebook laptops: 8460p and 8570p and they have bios passwords applied on them by former users. Neither of the users can't remember the bios password they put on their old computers(how typical) so I need to reset or skip the passwords somehow is there a way to do this?
