HP Mini 110-1160SA problem recording sound from sound card

I am trying to record sound from the sound card itself rather than an external or internal microphone, using a free software called Sonarca Sound Recorder. For example, I play radio from the internet using the BBC Iplayer. I have Windows 7 Starter. When I use the Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices, I get a window called Sound. I press the Recording tab, and get a choice of Internal Microphone, External Microphone, and Stereo Mix. According to my sound recorder software's documentation, I need to select that Stereo Mix, because it means "record whatever the sound card is playing". However, the Stereo Mix recording device, despite having a red tick mark next to it is "Currently Unavailable". How do I make it available?

to be honest, i am not sure about your problems, normally, you need to set stereo mix as default device, then using recording devices to record sound on windows 7. Since you cannot make it, why not insall a virtual sound device, it works like a real one, install this streaming music recorder on your system, start recording. Just test it out by yourself.

  • Problem recording audio from sampler...

    Problem recording audio from sampler (MPC 1000) to Logic using midi trigger thru Lexicon Omega box.
    When I hit the record button in Logic, it triggers my mpc to start playing. Logic then picks up the incoming audio signal on the appropriate track and starts recording the audio... PROBLEM- Logic appears to keep restarting the incoming audio, repeating the first 1/4 of the first 1Bar. So every time I hear the metronome tempo counter as it records, the incoming audio replays from the beginning and this is what gets recorded. On the contrary when I'm controlling the sampler via midi and just hit the play button in Logic, the audio signal comes threw and plays the full 4 bars of the audio that I want recorded.
    Any idea on how I can fix this? It seems like it has to do with my metronome counter or midi time code?
    Thanks to all that help!

    Thanks, good suggestion but these are music instruction dvds that aren't copyrighted.

  • Quantum TV, no sound from sound bar

    I have a harmon kardon SB16 sound bar, connected via fiber to my Sony W850B TV. I just got the new 6 show dvr, connected to the tv via hdmi. My Roku and BluRay play sound just fine, but the Verizon box gives me nothing. All cables are known working. I've swapped all cables  (known working to the Verizon box and vice versa) and nothing changes. The things that work still work, and the Verizon box does not.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

    I am having the same problem with my new Media Server DVR unit. My DR is connected to the TV with HDMI and the TV is connected to the soundbar with an Optical cable. My DVD player is also connected to the TV by HDMI.
     I get sound from the soundbar from the DVD player but not from the new Media Server DVR.  (FYI - My old verizon DVR box works with the soundbar using the same connections).
    Verizon told me to use the same suggestion as above by holding the 'D' or 'B' key on the remote to access the DVR menu. I set the HDMI output as directed and still no sound from the Samsung soundbar.
    Any other Ideas?

  • No sound from tv card

    Hi!
    I can't seem to get sound from my tv card, but the video works fine. I have a Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert (like this one). The card uses the CX23880/1/2/3 decoder, and the kernel modul loads on boot (it has to be, because I get the video). The only problem is that i can't hear sound. I connected the audio output from the card to my on-board sound card over the cd input line. The card worked on opensuse, and pclinuxos, so I know it works. I just dont know how to set it up on arch.

    BTW, I use arch for 2 days, and I like it a lot!

    I followed the directions here: http://inspirated.com/2007/04/05/alsa-l … th-mplayer and made the command:
    mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=NTSC:input=0:device=/dev/video1:chanlist=us-cable:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0:amode=2:audiorate=32000:forceaudio:immediatemode=0
    and now it works.

  • [SOLVED] No sound from sound card

    I'm going to be quite brief about this, because the details have been repeated so often in many other threads. Just recently (as in a few hours ago), my laptop (ThinkPad T31) is no longer producing any sounds, despite the card being recognized. Trying to troubleshoot this issue, I tried a variety of different solutions I had found during my research:

    EDIT: I also tried a different kernel, in this case kernel26-lts, which, again, produced no results.

    Well, first of all, use the tags to format your code.
    Second of all, your code looks pretty horrible (fair enough, you posted in New to Java).
    Lastly, the error message seems to be quite clear, you're trying to open a SourceDataLine with an unsupported format.
    Where did you get this code?

  • Urgent help:JMF capture sound from sound card?

    I am trying to capture what I was playing on my computer using Java code. It's apparently different from capturing sound input through microphones. How can I manage to do this? Actually, while I play a song or something like that on my computer(server), I wanna capture it and send them to other computers(client) in the LAN.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks in advance!Ummmmm, you'd probably need to set your recording device to be "System mixer" and then it would work just like capturing from the microphone.

  • Problem signing PDF from smart card - BouncyCastle, IAIK Wrapper, iText

    Hello!
    I need to sign and timestamp a PDF document with a smartcard. I'm using Java 1.6, iText to manage PDF, BouncyCastle to deal with cryptography and the free IAIK WRAPPER to access the smartcard.
    I've already searched the Internet to solve my problem, read the PDF specifications about the signature and followed snippets that should've worked, but after a couple of weeks I still don't have working code, not even for the signature. All the tries I made yield messages like "Signature has been corrupted" or "Invalid signature" (I can't remember the exact messages, but they're not in English anyway :D ) when I verify the signature in Adobe Reader.
    My first goal was to use an encapsulated signature, using filter Adobe.PPKLITE, subfilter adbe.pkcs7.sha1 and a DER-Encoded PKCS#7 object as content.
    Among the tries I made, I used code such as (I don't include all modifications, just the ones I deem closer to the right approach):
         // COMMON - START
         ///// selectedKey is a iaik.pkcs.pkcs11.objects.Key instance of the private key I'm taking from the SC
         RSAPrivateKey signerPrivKey=(RSAPrivateKey)selectedKey;
         CertificateFactory certificateFactory=CertificateFactory.getInstance("X.509");
         ///// correspondingCertificate is a iaik.pkcs.pkcs11.objects.X509PublicKeyCertificate instance of the certificate I'm taking from the SC
         byte[] derEncodedCertificate=correspondingCertificate.getValue().getByteArrayValue();
         X509Certificate signerCert=(X509Certificate)certificateFactory.generateCertificate(new ByteArrayInputStream(derEncodedCertificate));
         Provider provider=new BouncyCastleProvider();
         Security.addProvider(provider);
         ///// session is an instance of iaik.pkcs.pkcs11.Session
         session.signInit(Mechanism.SHA1_RSA_PKCS, signerPrivKey);
         File theFile = new File("C:\\toSign.pdf");
         FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(theFile);
         byte[] contentData = new byte[(int) theFile.length()];
         fis.read(contentData);
         fis.close();
         PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(contentData);
         ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
         PdfStamper stp = PdfStamper.createSignature(reader, baos, '\0');
         PdfSignatureAppearance sap = stp.getSignatureAppearance();
         // COMMON - END
         java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs=new java.security.cert.X509Certificate[1];
         CertificateFactory factory=CertificateFactory.getInstance("X.509");
         certs[0]=(X509Certificate)factory.generateCertificate(new ByteArrayInputStream(correspondingCertificate.getValue().getByteArrayValue()));

         dic.setName(PdfPKCS7.getSubjectFields((X509Certificate)certs[0]).getField("CN"));
         sap.setCryptoDictionary(dic);
         int csize = 4000;
         HashMap exc = new HashMap();
         exc.put(PdfName.CONTENTS, new Integer(csize * 2 + 2));
         sap.preClose(exc);
         MessageDigest md = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA1");
         InputStream s = sap.getRangeStream();
         int read = 0;
         byte[] buff = new byte[8192];
         while ((read = s.read(buff, 0, 8192)) > 0)
              md.update(buff, 0, read);
         byte[] signature=session.sign(buff);
         CMSSignedDataGenerator generator = new CMSSignedDataGenerator();
         ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
         for (int i = 0; i < certs.length; i++)
              list.add(certs);
         CertStore chainStore = CertStore.getInstance("Collection", new CollectionCertStoreParameters(list), provider);
         generator.addCertificatesAndCRLs(chainStore);
         CMSProcessable content = new CMSProcessableByteArray(md.digest());
         CMSSignedData signedData = generator.generate(CMSSignedDataGenerator.ENCRYPTION_RSA, content, true, provider);
         byte[] pk = signedData.getEncoded();
         byte[] outc = new byte[csize];
         PdfDictionary dic2 = new PdfDictionary();
         System.arraycopy(pk, 0, outc, 0, pk.length);
         dic2.put(PdfName.CONTENTS, new PdfString(outc).setHexWriting(true));
         sap.close(dic2);
         File newOne = new File("C:\\signed.pdf");
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(newOne);
         fos.write(baos.toByteArray());
         fos.close();
    I figured this is the right approach, but I need a way to generate the CMSSignedData instance, which can't be done using addSigner (the only documented way I found), since the private key is not extractable from a smart card...
    Then I decided to give up and try with a detached signature:
         // COMMON - START
         // Same as above
         // COMMON - END
         sap.setSignDate(new GregorianCalendar());
         java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs=new java.security.cert.X509Certificate[1];
         CertificateFactory factory=CertificateFactory.getInstance("X.509");
         certs[0]=(X509Certificate)factory.generateCertificate(new ByteArrayInputStream(correspondingCertificate.getValue().getByteArrayValue()));
         sap.setCrypto(null, certs, null, PdfSignatureAppearance.SELF_SIGNED);
         sap.setSignDate(java.util.Calendar.getInstance());
         sap.setExternalDigest (new byte[8192], new byte[20], "RSA");
         sap.preClose();
         MessageDigest messageDigest = MessageDigest.getInstance ("SHA1");
         byte buff[] = new byte[8192];
         int n;
         InputStream inp = sap.getRangeStream ();
         while ((n = inp.read (buff)) > 0)
              messageDigest.update (buff, 0, n);
         byte hash[] = messageDigest.digest();
         byte[] signature=session.sign(hash);
         PdfSigGenericPKCS sg = sap.getSigStandard ();
         PdfLiteral slit = (PdfLiteral)sg.get (PdfName.CONTENTS);
         byte[] outc = new byte[(slit.getPosLength () - 2) / 2];
         PdfPKCS7 sig = sg.getSigner ();
         sig.setExternalDigest (session.sign(hash), hash, "RSA");
         PdfDictionary dic = new PdfDictionary ();
         byte[] ssig = sig.getEncodedPKCS7();
         System.arraycopy (ssig, 0, outc, 0, ssig.length);
         dic.put (PdfName.CONTENTS, new PdfString (outc).setHexWriting(true));
         sap.close (dic);
         File newOne = new File("C:\\signed.pdf");
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(newOne);
         fos.write(baos.toByteArray());
         fos.close();
    I'm still stuck to the signature process, can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and help me (snippets would be deeply appreciated), maybe even changing approach in order to be able to add a digital timestamp?
    Thank you very much in advance!
    PS: I had also tried to use the SunPKCS11 provider to access the smart card, I gave up for similar problems, but if someone has suggestions using it, they're welcome! :D

         int read = 0;
         byte[] buff = new byte[8192];
         while ((read = s.read(buff, 0, 8192)) > 0)
              md.update(buff, 0, read);
         byte[] signature=session.sign(buff);
         CMSSignedDataGenerator generator = new CMSSignedDataGenerator();
         ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
         for (int i = 0; i < certs.length; i++)
              list.add(certs);
         CertStore chainStore = CertStore.getInstance("Collection", new CollectionCertStoreParameters(list), provider);
         generator.addCertificatesAndCRLs(chainStore);
         CMSProcessable content = new CMSProcessableByteArray(md.digest());
         CMSSignedData signedData = generator.generate(CMSSignedDataGenerator.ENCRYPTION_RSA, content, true, provider);
         byte[] pk = signedData.getEncoded();
         byte[] outc = new byte[csize];
         PdfDictionary dic2 = new PdfDictionary();
         System.arraycopy(pk, 0, outc, 0, pk.length);
         dic2.put(PdfName.CONTENTS, new PdfString(outc).setHexWriting(true));
         sap.close(dic2);
         File newOne = new File("C:\\signed.pdf");
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(newOne);
         fos.write(baos.toByteArray());
         fos.close();
    I figured this is the right approach, but I need a way to generate the CMSSignedData instance, which can't be done using addSigner (the only documented way I found), since the private key is not extractable from a smart card...
    Then I decided to give up and try with a detached signature:
         // COMMON - START
         // Same as above
         // COMMON - END
         sap.setSignDate(new GregorianCalendar());
         java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs=new java.security.cert.X509Certificate[1];
         CertificateFactory factory=CertificateFactory.getInstance("X.509");
         certs[0]=(X509Certificate)factory.generateCertificate(new ByteArrayInputStream(correspondingCertificate.getValue().getByteArrayValue()));
         sap.setCrypto(null, certs, null, PdfSignatureAppearance.SELF_SIGNED);
         sap.setSignDate(java.util.Calendar.getInstance());
         sap.setExternalDigest (new byte[8192], new byte[20], "RSA");
         sap.preClose();
         MessageDigest messageDigest = MessageDigest.getInstance ("SHA1");
         byte buff[] = new byte[8192];
         int n;
         InputStream inp = sap.getRangeStream ();
         while ((n = inp.read (buff)) > 0)
              messageDigest.update (buff, 0, n);
         byte hash[] = messageDigest.digest();
         byte[] signature=session.sign(hash);
         PdfSigGenericPKCS sg = sap.getSigStandard ();
         PdfLiteral slit = (PdfLiteral)sg.get (PdfName.CONTENTS);
         byte[] outc = new byte[(slit.getPosLength () - 2) / 2];
         PdfPKCS7 sig = sg.getSigner ();
         sig.setExternalDigest (session.sign(hash), hash, "RSA");
         PdfDictionary dic = new PdfDictionary ();
         byte[] ssig = sig.getEncodedPKCS7();
         System.arraycopy (ssig, 0, outc, 0, ssig.length);
         dic.put (PdfName.CONTENTS, new PdfString (outc).setHexWriting(true));
         sap.close (dic);
         File newOne = new File("C:\\signed.pdf");
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(newOne);
         fos.write(baos.toByteArray());
         fos.close();

  • Unable to select sounds from Sound Effects file

    Hi, Please help.  I am using a MacBook Pro - OS X 10.6.7 Mid 2009  (I am NOT a pro!)  I cannot seem to change my alert sounds.  I have changed my selection from "Glass" to "Basso" for example, but it will only play my previous selected sound? i.e Glass.  The same applies to my Skype ring tone, I would like to hear the Original Skype incoming ring tone, and it is on the list as "incoming call" which I select  (once selected it plays the correct sound) but then when I close the Select an alert sound  window, it reverts back to the "glass" alert sound??  What am I doing wrong?? Your help is much appreciated.  Thanks

    What happens if you log in as another user and try there?
    If they work ok, there, something is munged in your primary account.
    You can try checking drive health with Disk Utility/First Aid, but more than likely there is a software conflict I think - if you can't find it, you may consider reinstalling the OS.
    If this is beyond you, walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask the staff there for assistance.
    Good luck in any case.

  • No Sound from Sound Blaster Audig

    My HP Pavillion came installed with the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 - Model # 0240 card. I've had about 2 years wth no problems. The other day the sound just stopped working. I know the speakers are set up properly since when I try to calibrate through Creative it plays those sounds but no other sounds through the computer. The Creative diagnostic tests finds the hardward but it fails the Midi, Wave and something else that I can't remember.
    In Device Manager there is a yellow exclamation point before Sound Blaster 6 or AWE32. Under properties it says: This device cannot start. (Code 0). Under Resources it says: Resource Setting: This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem. That much I figured out....LOL.
    I am not a computer expert but I'm pretty good at troubleshooting and nothing so far has worked. I tried removing and reinserting the sound card but to no avial. Howver, the card has two wires in the front of the card...one into AUX and the other port I cannot see what it is for but that wire is not plugged into the tower at all. Should it be? Is it possible it somehow became detached and that's why it no longer works? Could the card just be blown? I also tried a different slot when I took it out, also didn't work.
    I have not installed any new hardware or software, however, my 3 year old son uses this computer and who knows what he's done.
    Can anyone help me? I miss having sound!!!!!!
    Thanks so much!!
    Lisa
    PS... I am running Windows XPMessage Edited by dknygirl on -2-2005 04:37 PM

    Hi Jason,
    I only have one sound card. Stamped on the card it says Sound Blaster Audigy 2 in one spot and in another spot it says Creative Audigy 2. Aren't they one in the same? In device manager it lists the following: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, Sound Blaster 6 and Video Codecs. That's all that's listed under sounds.
    So far I've been unable to locate the discs that came with the computer but I'm still searching.
    In the meantime, do you think that wire on the sound card that isn't connected to anything in the tower could be the culprit's Is there anyway if I can find out if it should be plugged into something. I only see one place that it can fit although it has two less prong holes on the top row.
    Any other suggestions? HP tells me to do a system recovery but on the chance the card is blown, that won't solve the problem.
    Does anyone know what Code 0 means that is shown in the device manager?
    Thanks!

  • Problems downloading photos from sd card

    new macbook air. i insert sd card (from samsung phone, 66 photos) but all i get on the iPhoto page is an indication on the left hand side that my sd card is there and the word 'loading' on the right hand side. no opportunity to click on 'import' because that stays on 0. no photos appear.
    many thanks

    i went through most of the folders and the one named DCIM came up 'camera' after i clicked on it. and yes i dragged it to iPhoto, viewed all 66 photos and they are all now divided between albums.
    thanks for your help.
    still leaves the mystery of why the casio sd card worked directly into iPhoto but the samsung sd card needed to go through finder; but thats for another day.
    thanks again

  • [SOLVED] No sound from tv card with mplayer, only arecord/aplay

    So I finally got my Hauppauge 950Q usb tv tuner working with mplayer so I can see the video with this command:
    mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=NTSC:input=0:device=/dev/video1:chanlist=us-cable
    but I can't get any sound unless I run this command simultaneously:
    arecord -D hw:1,0 -r 32000 -c 2 -f S16_LE | aplay
    I assume I need to translate the arecord arguements into mplayer arguements, but I'm not really sure how.  Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks!

    I followed the directions here: http://inspirated.com/2007/04/05/alsa-l … th-mplayer and made the command:
    mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=NTSC:input=0:device=/dev/video1:chanlist=us-cable:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0:amode=2:audiorate=32000:forceaudio:immediatemode=0
    and now it works.
