Hp mini 110-3016tu ram upgrade.

i took out the original 1GB DDR2 ram and changed it with a 2GB DDR2 ram already but i'm not sure why it still shows up as 1GB over at system properties...
why is this so?

Here is your spec. sheet again and it says that you are running a 32 bit OS, so the max that you are going to use is 2 to GB.

A 4 gig stick will probably work in there, but the BIOS may not see it and as Paul suggested, try to get one from a friend to test it out.
As for the HP compatibility listing, I think it's wrong, HP has printed the wrong information before.
Run this scanner from Crucial and it will tell you how much memory for sure it will handle.

Is that 71 £ for the 2 GB stick, if it is, that's an outrageous price.   Shop around a little more, a 2 GB DDR3 stick at 1333 MHz is common as dirt and should be around 20 to 30 dollars US. I am sure you could find something on e-bay.co.uk that will work fine at a fraction of the cost.
Forget e-bay, just get it direct from Crucial.

It's still expensive, but better then HP's price.

  • HP Mini 110-3150CA - RAM Upgrade?

I just picked up a HP Mini 110-3150CA - I have 1gb Ram - But I would like to upgrade to 2GB ram -- can this be done? And what type of Ram do I buy?

    Here is the Manual.
    Manual
Instructions for upgrading memory are on page 51.
It uses DDR2 laptop memory 667 mhz which is commonly available even at a store like Best Buy. It only has one module so you have to replace the 1 gig module in it with a 2 gig module. You will be glad you did. It will run much better on 2 gigs.

  • Hp mini 110-1100 ram

I was wondering if the ram can be expanded to 2 gigs

    Hi,
Yes you can. Your machine has only one slot therefore you have to throw away the existing 1Gb piece and buy a new 2Gb piece of RAM. You can buy from the following link or use this info to buy elsewhere:

  • Mac Mini (Late 2012) RAM Upgrade

    Hello everyone!
I just got my first Mac machine, a Mac Mini i5 with 4GB of RAM. So far I'm loving it, everything seems to work flawlessly, updates are painless, etc. (I come from the PC/Linux world so I feel like a child with a new toy) however I think I need a small RAM upgrade.
I was looking for some cheap modules and I came across with these Kingston KTA-MB1600/4G modules that, according to the mini memory specs, should work.
    http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/partsinfo.asp?root=us&LinkBack= &ktcpartno=KTA-MB1600/4G
AFAIK the memory specs for the mini are:
    PC3-12800 DDR3
    Unbuffered
    Non-parity
    204-pin module
    1600 MHz
I was wondering if any of you have tried these or any Kingston modules on your Mac's? Do you agree with me that these should work on my mini?
I'm sorry if this a stupid question or an obvious question but I'm not 100% sure. In the PC world I would probably buy whatever that match the specs.
    Thank you!

upgrading mac mini ram is the easiest thing in the world
for 16 gig i agree with Randy u can buy in
http://www.macsales.com , or go to corsair...
    so far it work flawless!!
but by the way consider the mac mini problem with the hdmi and etc if u still want to buy it,,,
i think u should wait a bit and gather more info
    but that's just me
    ciao.

  • Unstable Mac Mini 2011 after ram upgrade

I put in 8GB kit ram from Corsair. Every specific things is matching with Apple's requirement on ram upgrade. I got Corsair 8GB KIT DDR3 SO-DIMM, 1333Mhz. The first boot with the new ram was fine but after 10 minutes of normal using (Safari, Spotify) and testing open Photoshop CS5 it crashed.
I shut down the system and tried to take off the rams the put it in again just to make sure that they're there perfectly. Second boot, everythings seems work well but after a while, maybe 20 minutes, Safari crashed and a "crash log" is sending to Apple. Happened the same with Spotify, Photoshop when it was open. I couldn't reopen the programs so I did another reboot.
The third reboot, seems fine until 1h30min the whole system crashed, the computer is rebooting by itself and showing a message of "something is wrong with the system" so it needed a reboot.
And Safari crashed once again while I wrote this.
I hope someone can help me solve the problem. I'm running the lastest version of Lion Mountain (10.8.2), 2.5Ghz i5 mid 2011 Mac mini.

I have used Corsair RAMs on multiple Macs with
a lot of success (running a 16 gig on a 2011 Mini Server
I am currently typing this on).  It may just be you got a bad
one.  It happens.  Depending on where you purchased
it should be no issue replacing.
You should check though to see which is bad.  Put
both of the old RAM in to make sure things still work
as before.  It is possible something else may be wrong.
If all is well, then swap out with one new module at a
time and see how it works.  It may be just one module
    (most likely).

  • Mac Mini Mid 2011 Ram Upgrade to Clock 1600mhz...?

I intend to upgrade the Memory on my Mac Mini Mid 2011 to 8gb. Question here is its currently running Two 1gb Chips at 1333mhz and I was wondering if I could get Two 4gb Chips at 1600mhz and have them mounted...?
Is that possible or will I have to stick to a 1333mhz Module...?

Stick with the recommended RAM for the computer.......

  • Mac Mini (late 2012) ram upgrade: 8gb dual channel vs 10gb? Flex Mode?

I attempted to upgrade my Mac Mini (late 2012) from the stock 4gb of ram to 8gb. However, I messed up and didn't pay attention when buying the ram online and ordered 1x8gb stick rather than 2x4. Will losing dual channel with a 2/8 combo (10gb) make a difference that I will notice? Will having the additional 2gb make up for any lost performance? And finally, is flex mode available with the Mac Mini so that I'd still be running 4gb at dual channel and 6gb single?
The 8gb stick arrived and I'd like to install it but Ill send it back and get the 2x4 depending on what I hear back.
    Thanks
    Ryan

to the best of my knowledge, when upgrading your Mac mini's RAM, you must upgrade it with 2 SODIMM's at a time. When I bought my Mac mini Late 2012 model it had all the base level specs. Pretty soon the stock 4GB (2x 2GB) just wasn't fast enough. I bought a Crucial 16GB upgrade from Amazon (2x 8GB) and now my Mini is much faster especially when I am using Photoshop.
Only thing I would do next is trying to swap the boot HD to a SSD, but am unsure as my Mac mini late 2012 is under AppleCare through December 2015 and I do not know if it would void the warranty.

  • Mac Mini 1.42Ghz RAM Upgrade

Hello, first post so be kind!
Ive had my mac now for some time (Mac Mini 1.42Ghz G4 Power PC) which came with 512Mb of RAM. I am thinking about upgrading to 1Gb as I have just purchased a Digital SLR camera and the minimum photo size is 4Mb 8mp in Jpeg. When working with these pictures in Iphoto 5 there is considerable "thinking" by the Mac when manipulating or zooming in on the pictures.
Also Photoshop Elements which i bought the other day seems to work ok but sometimes the slowdown is experienced again when I use Bridge or just do something a bit more heavy with the features.
Ive been looking at memory modules from Crucial and Kingston but Ive also come across this from Samsung...
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZX J2aWV3&product_uid=82592
Is this preferable as Ive heard apple use Samsung and also it appears to be a little faster? Will it work in my mac?
Im not overly technical so any help would be great

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
The PPC mini can use either PC2700 memory or PC3200 memory, however, it will only use PC3200 memory at PC2700 speeds - there is no speed benefit from using PC3200 memory. See this Apple note: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300572
You can confirm easily if your system can use more memory by checking the activity monitor. This is located on your hard drive in the applications/utilities folder. Bring it up, and look at the system memory tab. Note page ins/page outs. If you find page outs, which is how often the system has to page memory out to the hard disk to free up memory, to be greater than 10% of page ins, then a memory increase will help. Optimal would be to have zero page outs. While you're looking at that page, you might have questions about the categories of memory shown - this Apple notes details them: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107918
To see what's involved with upgrading memory, there's a good OWC video at http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=Video/directory.html . There's also a good pictorial at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/82.13.0.html

  • Mac Mini MID 2010 RAM UPGRADE... 1066 or 1330 GHRZ?

    Hi
I had read something about upgrading the mac mini`s ram and some people had upgrade it with 1,3Ghrz of speed, but is not that clear. (DDR3)
I want to know opinions about this, cuz the 1,3ghrz of ram are more frequently found on PC hardware stores instead the 1ghrz... (there is 0,8ghrz of ram, but I think they are pretty slow for the mini)
my last question is about how much is recommended to upgrade... 8gb or 4gb... i usually use my Mini to edit video with iMovie and gaming (Steam, or League Of Leguends)

I am sure Ronda has tracked you down, there is a party in your honor around the Water Cooler in the Lounge. You should have a link to it eventually. It will be going strong by the time you arrive in the next day or so!

  • Mac mini (mid 2010) RAM upgrade 4GB or 8GB

I have a mid 2010 Mac mini with 2GB of RAM. My question is - Should I upgrade the RAM to 4GB or 8GB?
    Thank you, DZetko

It's is better to go for the full 8GB upgrade now,
that way you will not have to upgrade again when OS X and your personal usage demand more.

  • 2008 Mac Mini Crashes after ram upgrade

I just upgraded my Ram from 1 to 2 GB on my Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo and it was a bad stick so I reaplaced it and it works great but I was typing something in to Firefox to search it and my screen ram multicolored line and a popup came up but I didnt see it because of the lines so I did a hard shutoff and started it back up and it is runing fine.  I am still scared to use it because of the crash. Anyhelp?

    Hi Zeke,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.

  • New Mac Mini just ordered - Ram upgrade questions

A quick Google troll shows that there may be a firmware upgrade that will indeed allow the mac mini to support 8 GB of ram.
Having sucessfully put Ram in other minis - i'm not too worried about the install, but I have a few questions:
    1. Anyone tried this successfully.
    2. Early reports of some of the trials of this showed performance problems, likely related to the firmware limitations on the machine.
    3. Ram manufacturer?
I'm not too inclined to do this with my new machine unless I can get some real world feedback.

The information that I have seen is that it requires both the firmware update and Snow Leopard. Newer Technology tried 8 GB of RAM after the firmware update but while running Leopard and reported terrible performance, worse than with 4 GB. They tried it again after Snow Leopard was released and report that there are not any issues. So they now sell an 8 GB upgrade kit.

  • HP 110-406 RAM Upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade my RAM in my computer and the information on the product specifications site is incorrect. I'll attatch a link. The site says the computer takes 240 pin DIMM RAM, but when I opened up the computer I found that there are two slots for 204-pin SODIMM RAM. I purchased 8gb of RAM to upgrade and when I put them in the computer didn't start up. Do I have the wrong RAM? IS my version of Windows 32-bit? What am I doing wrong?

You did not post any links, so I will.  Your system can be found here, according to spec it's 64bit.   I did verify the memory via this (1) PartSurfer for the number, and here for an example.  You are correct, it's 204 pin.Only 4GB modules that are manuf for your system will work.  You did not state the source, or whether those modules were approved for the system.  Only specific modules work in specific machines.

  • Happy to report (Ram upgrade for Mac mini))

    Hello All,
I would like to share this info with you, just in case someone wanted to add more Ram to their Mac mini.
I purchased 2X4GB Kingston DDR3 Ram and followed instructions that I found on YouTube and other sources to replac my 2GB Mac mini.
The Kingston ram is very cheap KVR1066D3S7/4G but you should evaluate how much Ram you will need.
If I knew that I will only need 4GB then I would have saved my money in a warmer place (my pocket).
Anyway here is the info of my Mac mini after the RAM upgrade:
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          Mac mini
      Model Identifier:          Macmini3,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          3 MB
      Memory:          8 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.07 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MM31.0081.B06
      SMC Version (system):          1.35f0

I'm not sure what your point is here. How does one actually "evaluate" how much RAM you think you need?         I think most would agree that a RAM upgrade is one of the best performance boosters for the money and the simple rule is the more RAM the better. I have a new Mac Mini with 2.3 GHz i5 processors and upgraded to 8GB of RAM from Crucial.com (complete with instructions so you don't have to search YouTube) and noticed an immediate performance increase when working with multiple applications and while playing iTunes, etc. The Crucial upgrade was only $59.99 for 8GB kit and I think the 4GB kit was only $20 cheaper so it doesn't make sense to not get thte 8GB kit.
