Hp mini 110 keyboard-spilled tea on it

Hi, I spilled tea on my hp mini 110 keyboard. I tried cleaning under the keys but that didn't help so I ordered a new keyboard. After installing the new keyboard all the keys worked minus the "Enter" key. The next day all of the keys on the middle row stopped working: A S D F G H J K L : " Enter.
My question is, could it be the new keyboard that is defective or maybe the tea that was spilled went beyond the keyboard onto the components underneath it that could be causing the problem. I may end up having to trash the whole netbook.
Thank You in advance for any help to solve this problem.

Hi there @reggiebat
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that when you click on an icon it asks if you want to send it to the recycle bin. I am happy to help with this.
It sounds to me like both of your computers have a virus or other malicious software. I would recommend you check both systems thoroughly. The following pages have some information to get you started with this.
HP PCs - Resolving and Preventing Viruses on Your Computer (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
About Spyware, Adware, and Browser Hijacking Software
Another option would be to take one of both of them to a local computer shop that offers the service and have them check and clean your system.
Let me know if you need any further help.

  • Hp Mini 110 1013tu Keyboard is Not working after upgrade to win 7

Hello need help on weird happenings to my keyboard..
Before i upgrade the Operating System From Windows XP to Windows 7 the Hp Mini 110 is working fine..
All keys on keyboard is working and touchpad is also working.
But after upgrading to windows 7 some keys on keyboard are not working like z,x,c,v, left ctrl and other more keys..
what do you think is the problem??
    Hardware Issue? or Driver Issue?
    please help thank you..

    Hello @MysticDragon ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand some of the keys on your keyboard are not working after installing Windows 7.
I do not see any drivers available for your notebook for Windows 7 on the HP website, so their might be some compatibility issues as it's going to rely on Windows update to find current drivers. This doesn't mean it will not work, but I cannot say for sure that it will.
    Try this:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click Control Panel.
    3. Click Clock, Language, and Region.
    4. Click Region and Language.
    5. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
    6. Click Change keyboards...
    7. On the General tab, make sure English (United States) - US is selected in the Default input language field.
    8. Click on any other keyboards in the Installed services list.
    9. Click Remove.
    10. Repeat for all other non-English (United States) keyboards.
You may also want to try rolling back to Windows XP and see if the issue persists. It is possible the issue is coincidental and not the direct result of the update to Windows 7.
Let me know if this works!

  • HP Mini 110-1100 CTO keyboard not working fully

    Hello, everyone;
My Mini 110-1100 keyboard is acting strangely. Most of the time, certain keys will not register as being pressed. Space bar, the left shift key, t, y, [, ], z, x, c, v, and m all do not work when this happens. Sometimes (rarely) all keys will work from boot. In addition, when it's not working properly. after using it for a few hours or so, the keyboard will randomly work. I'm assuming it is a software problem as opposed to a hardware issue because of this. I am running XP Service Pack 3, with all available updates. I have also tried reinstalling both the keyboard and touchpad driver.
If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thank you!
    -Don

Ok, so the drivers are current, an external keyboard works, you could try restoring the system to a date when the keyboard was known to work but I doubt that it would fix it, most likely it is a hardware issue, in which case you should check your warranty and call HP.

  • HP Mini 110-1030NR keyboard

Replacement keyboards for the orginal keyboard on my HP Mini 110 have exhibited a common fault, the <Left Control> key is stuck on (not mechanically stuck however). I have verified fault with 3rd party keyboard test programs. Is it the driver, or some keyboard mapper, that need to be loaded? Or is it the hardware? I have tried two different replacement keyboards from different manufacturers. Thanks for the help in advance!

    Hey wally32,
For the left Control key being stuck, I have included the document 'Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 7)'. Please click on the option for Stuck Key, and follow through the steps. This will make sure that the keyboard software is up to date, as well also cleaning the key itself manually.
Please let me know the outcome of the troubleshooting. As this will help narrow down the issue, if it is still present after troubleshooting.
    Thank you.

  • HP Mini 110-3520ca constantly restarts when trying to restore from usb flash drive

    Hi,
I have a HP Mini 110-3520ca that I upgraded to Windows 8, but was having issues with freeze ups and shut downs so I decided to go back to Windows 7 Starter.    When I tried to restore to factory default the files were corrupted and I couldn't restore from the recovery hard drive or my external back up files.  I ordered the recovery  USB flash drive from HP and tried to restore from it.  It completes the Recovery Preparation and the Software Installation finishes, Windows starts to load, but Ithen it goes back to welcome to Recovery Manager.  When I try to start Windows without the flash drive I get an error log that is below.  Can someone tell me how to fix this or what needs to be done to get my Windows working again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Savvy58
I did some further looking into that Error Log you posted. Basically, it means that is looking for a certain location that doesn't seem to be there. This could be a problem with the USB Recovery drive that you have. I would recommend that you contact HP. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • HP MIni 110-1030nr - USB Problem!

    Hello!
I have 2 HP Mini 110-1030nr netbooks. Mine runs like a charm! I love it!
My dad's however is having major problems! For the first 2 weeks it ran great, but then the hard drive died in it. We sent it back to HP, they turned it around and had it back to us in less then 2 weeks! Great service!
But now, as we have been re-installing his software we have discovered the USB ports do not work right anymore. For example, my dad bought an external Samsung cd/dvd-rom drive. It just doesn't work right. It is unrecognized sometimes, or else it will show up but it can't see that a disc is inserted. Same goes for all USB devices... we attached an external WD Passport Hard Drive and it is not recognized either. The Hard Drive lights will light up momentarily and then just go dark. But when you disconnect the hard drive, Windows plays a little "disconnect sound" as if it knew it was there. Other times the hard drive will be recognized and work just fine, or it will work good for awhile then go dark.
Some items work fine on the USB ports... we have a little Verizon Pantech USB Data Modem, it seems to work good. And a little Sandisk 8GB USB thumb drive seems to work good consistently.
Could this be a power issue? Or something goofy on the mother board?
All these devices work 100% superb on my own HP mini, no hiccups at all. Need help! Need to know if I need to send this back to HP or if there is just a setting somewhere that I'm missing? I've tried going into the BIOS (F10) but there are hardly any options to change and none of them deal with USB.
    Thx!

figured out how to remove the hard drive. You remove the battery and there are 3 small phillips screws. Remove and put in a safe place. The screws hold three small metal tabs in place. With the screw removed, take a small flathead screwdriver and push the tabs up toward the keyboard carefully!!! This will lift the back edge of the keyboard nearest the lcd screen up in the air. Then turn the laptop over and grab the back edge of the key you just pushed up and pull it towards the keyboard and the keyboard will easily come off. Make sure to CAREFULLY remove the plastic ribbon connector from the connecctor and that exposes the harddrive. The rest is very obvious and simple. Reassemble in reverse order.

Why does HP do this!!??  re-seating a mobo battery & jumper is suppose to reset bios passwords not  give you one.

  • Need Mini 110 BIOS (binary version)

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone from HP is monitoring this forum and is willing to assist.
I'm attempting to repair a Mini 110 (VF704AV, mobo #579568-001) for a friend of mine who, after attempting to upgrade the machine, could no longer get past the HP logo.  Like others I've found on various forums who have had this exact problem, this one refuses to go past POST and hangs on said logo, allowing no further input from the user (a brief AMI screen confirms "CMOS checksum error" before this occurs).
After hours of trying to get around this error, I've concluded a new BIOS chip to be the only solution.  However, I need the binary (.ROM) version of the file as contained with HP's SP47135.exe package.  I've found a few close renditions of this file on the 'net, but prefer to have the correct version before committing to have an IC flashed.
As an electronics/computer person who dates back to the Atari days (first job), I must say I've seen more robust upgrade processes.  But being unable to extract the binary file is what pushed me over the edge here.  I expect better from a company of your stature.
If someone at HP can e-mail this critical file to me, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you.

    M-dog,
Thanks very much for taking the time to write.  I had tried Winrar with no success, and just for yuks tried 7zip now.  Same result:  Both will expand the SP47135.exe file, but inside (along with a couple of .sys and .vxd files) is ANOTHER executable (308F0F19.exe) which cannot be decompressed.
As for what I've tried...everything I could find on the 'net.  I had near success using a DOS-bootable USB flash drive containing a generic version of the binary file, renamed AMIBOOT.rom to supposedly trick the BIOS into some sort of "limp mode" using CTRL+Home upon power up.  However, in each of 4 tries doing this, the BIOS file attempted to load and claimed to have done so successfully.  But the promised "rebooting now" never occurs; rather, the fan speed goes into a gradual ramp up and nothing more.  Next power cycle leads to the exact same HP logo and locked keyboard.  (I've read of this scenario at least twice on other forums.)
Not caring and having nothing to lose at this point, I decided to pull the power midway through the 5th attempt at flashing in this manner.  Well, that did it.  I now have a totally black screen and can no longer access the flash drive.  What this leads me to believe is that the others who have had this problem did not (necessarily) lose power during their failed flash attempt, hence my "less than robust" comment originally.  I think the process is flawed and HP knows it.
A BIOS chip company on eBay will sell me the IC, but I have to provide the ROM data file in binary format, which is proving disgustingly difficult.  Hence, my presence on this forum.
But again, thanks for your post.
