Hp mini 2140 new battery

Dear people
I bought a HP mini 2140 at this store:
www.computeroutlet.nl  for the price of 169 euro
Woudenbergseweg 19 Unit C4
3707 HW Zeist
T 0343-491149
Holland
second hand ofcourse. It had a bad battery, but they said
for 30 euro more you can have a new battery.
So i bought the new battery, came home, put it in the HP mini 2140
let it charge for over 4 hours and it gave 7% was done.
Is this the normal way with new batteries?
Should we leave it on the charger/powersupply for 24 hours or so?
Or is there something wrong with this battery, and maybe it is
not a new battery?
Hope you can help me out.
Bartmans

Just to let you know, like i said, i would give feedback.
We now have a new battery and a new hp mini 2140.
The battery that was not ok, is now ok, because the problem was the hp mini
not the battery and the charger. The battery charges within 4 hours full and
works for 2 hours. It took some very long time to find out what was wrong,
but the company fixed the problem and we now have a good working HP Mini 2140
Thank you Computeroutlet.nl
And thank you hp forum members for your feedback wich helped us to get to
a good solution.

  • Mini 2140 shutting off with any kind of movement or jarring rendering the battery useless

Hello, I have about 260 of these devices and I am running into an issue with the 6-cell extended life batteries.
We have replaced the 3 cell standard life battery with the 6 cell extended life battery. Now for the issues. I have had several of these come to me with the same problem. When a using sets the machine down it will instantly power off. Almost as if you pulled the battery out. Now, once the machine shuts down you can power it back up just fine. Of course it will shut down instantly again if you touch or jar the battery at all.
Now some of them get so bad that the machine will not power on and I have to replace the battery with a new one. Does anyone know what cause this? Is there a fix for this?
    I am running
    HP Mini 2140
    XP Pro SP3
    6 cell extended life batteries
I do have 3 cell batteries that we use as back ups. I have never had one of these go bad so far.
They have been in use since August of 2009
Please let me know if anyone else has seen these issuses.
If you need any more info just let me know.

wouldn’t be concerned with this if it wasn’t wasting the battery.
The battery is not being wasted.
Apparently this mini ipod is suppose to have 14 hour battery life
That is the "estimated" time of battery life.
Depends on a lot of different factors.
As a matter of fact, last night ~11 PM, I turned on my fully charged Mini, set it to Repeat All and hit play. I turned on Hold, set it on my dresser & let it go. on & let it go.
It was still running tonight at 8:30 PM. It finally died within the last 1.5 hours or so. 21-23 hours is how long I got out it.
but mine is much less since it doesn’t properly shut off.
It is properly shutting off. Your battery is probably going bad.
Your iPod is working exactly as it is supposed to work.

  • Has anyone had their iphone 4 die on them? Mine is just 2 yrs old and won't switch on, tried all the remedies, reboot, tried to connect and reboot via itunes, new battery--nothing works

Hias anyone had their iphone 4 completely die on them? Mine won't switch on, I have tried using the power key with the home key, tried connecting it via usb cable to itunes, tried new battery- nothing has worked. The phone is just 2 yrs old this month, and I haven't dropped it or anything. I have never had a phone break on me before in almost 20 yrs of having mobile phones- I've had to resort to using a 7 yr old Nokia, which I used to love but it's not the same as my iphone!!

If you have attempted the reset, which is holding the home button and sleep/wake button, was it still connected to the computer? Have you tried to do that when not connected. You stated it never came on, how long did you hold the buttons together? If you cannot get it to connect to iTunes then you would not be able to restore the device. You can see if you can put the device into Recovery Mode by following the instructions in this support document. If that does not work, then you are correct, make an appointment at the Apple Store. If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • Ipad mini is completely dead. Button reset does not work. Will new battery fix it?

So a few months ago my ipad mini decided to die 1 month exactly out of warranty... convenient right? Anyway it was charging overnight and was fine when i set it down to sleep. Display and everything was fully functional. The next day i left alone charging, and I came home later to use it. Didnt turn on. tried the reset with the 2 buttons to no avail. Took it to apple and they said it was dead dead, and only offered a replacement.
Thing to mind here is that the charger i was using was somewhat faulty. It would sometimes rapidly charge and discharge due to a faulty connection. My thought is that maybe this started to happen and zapped the battery? Now with this as a possibility, would a completely new battery fix the issue? I could do the repair myself and I'm wondering if the effort is even worth it.

What did the Genius say at the Apple store? I would ask them if a repair is a possible solution. There are certified techs out there that can do the repairs. I once had a damaged antenna on my iphone (out of warranty-they offered a replacement) and I asked the genius if it was possible to fix it and he said yes. It took me a while to get the OEM parts from China, so yes, its possible, but I would ask the Genius first.
Be sure to tell the Genius that you have a faulty connection at home. If you can correct the faulty connection, fix it. If not is it possible to charge it somewhere else?

  • Says my brand new battery is charging but dosent change from 0%, after 10 mins the adapter changes to green and the battery dissapears from the mac.

Like the topic says, have an macbook pro 15 late 2008 works like a charm.
Have had a bad battery for over a year so today i bought a new one, plugged it in

it called, same thing happened again
downloaded cocnut battery and there it just said when i was charging that the
    battery was -1 amh?
isnt new battery supposed to be delieverd with 50% on them?
What can be the problem here? is it the AC adapter?
helpful for anytips, a very poor student so cant have it on a service

    Hi iphone_warrior,
thanks for the reply and for your support. However, I did not understand why I as customer should go to the next Apple store nor why I should pay 29,- Euros for the replacement.
I give you an example. I have an HP printer. Was not working any more after 2 month. HP send me a new printer and took back the old without any charge.
Apple knows that it is a problem with the phone battery. Why the customer should pay for that. The customer has warranty, the customer paid the product. Apple has to care about the customer. It seems that Apple cares more about to increase its profit and leave the support its customers. Anyhow, if this the only way I have to invest the time and will go for the Apple store. I hope the buggy phone will be replaced by one which is working properly. Otherwise I will go for the offer from Samsung which won't be a good advertisement for Apple at all.
    Best regards, Harun99
I wonder why this threat has been taken from the discussion forum. Is that the way Apple is working with the feedback from its customers. Very dissapointing.

  • MacBook goes dead as soon as power cord is unplugged..time for a new battery or other problem?

For months now my MacBook has been iffy with the battery percentage. It will show 2hours then within the next minute 25 min then 10 minutes then it shoots all the way up to 3 hours. Now it won't stay on unless the power cord is plugged in...and says "not charging" at the top of the screen. Am I in need of a new battery? Or is it something else? Have never had this problem before...my MacBook is approximately 3 years old...

You are posting in an iMac forum. I'd recommend re-posting in the MacBook forum.

  • Criteria for new battery and case

So I went to my local authorized apple repair place today and talked for quite a while to a very nice genius who left me more confused than ever about how bad a battery needs to be to warrant replacement. There seem to be no clear criteria.
What my battery does is vacillate between believing it has 30% of its original capacity left after 142 cycles and 80%. It lasts about an hour to an hour and a half on battery with bluetooth and airport off and the screen dim, and lately it has begun shutting off suddenly while on battery power.
When I visited the store today, it happened to believe it had 78% of its original capacity left, and it didn't shut off while he was watching it. Apparently 78% capacity was not bad enough to warrant replacement, because he asked if I could either leave the macbook with him for testing, or come back and show him what happens, if I can figure out what triggers the changes in capacity or the sudden shut-off. He said that no log would show a sudden shut-off like I was describing, so he would have to see it himself.
This left me pretty confused, since I thought that even the 78% was low after 142 cycles compared to what other people were reporting. I wonder if there are any objective criteria so that we can KNOW if our batteries are among those that need replacing.
As to the case, I have better news. Mine is one of those cases that has cracked very near the edge, under the right-hand magnet. After examining the rest of the case to make sure it showed no evidence of dents or scratches to suggest it had been dropped, he agreed right away to replace the case and has ordered a new one for me. He seemed to know of the problem and of Apple's willingness to replace such cases.
So that leaves me this weekend trying to figure out when and why my macbook shuts down when it's on battery power so I can reproduce it for the genius ....weird!

I had the same problem with my computer shutting down at 30 minutes left on the battery. You might be better off calling the number in the update. I explained to them the problem and I had a new battery two days later and then you just send the old battery back. No cost.
If you go back to the store ask to speak to the manager. Sounds like you got a genius that is not to bright. If you know when you battery is going to shut off your computer you could have enough on your battery to start it up and after a few minutes when it reaches that point it shuts down.
Mine was always at 30 minutes. You should not have to jump through hoops since this is a known problem.

  • Why would new battery not charge?

I have an iPhone 5 with a 1 year history of good behavior.  I recently transferred my Sony-manufactured battery (date code=08/2014) to my daughter's iPhone 5 so that she could make an outbound airplane flight with a functioning phone.
There was evidence that daughter's battery had died, not been subjected to a bad or uncertified charger.  It would not charge on my known good chargers.  Her Lightning port was not full of lint.  After I transferred my good battery to her phone, her phone worked fine and she was on her way.
I discarded her suspect battery and installed a new one in my phone. Acquired from a well known supplier of batteries, t was a Sony-manufactured battery with a date code nearly identical to mine.  My phone booted up fine and showed 45% cell charge.  As the hours passed, the state of charge gauge indicated showed a battery of normal endurance.
However, at the end of the day this new battery will not accept a charge in my phone.
I am using the same known good chargers that I used previously.  I am an experienced iPhone disassembler.  My Lightning port is not "linted-up".  I admit that Apple's fine-pitch PCB connectors are a challenge even for experienced disassemblers but I believe that this battery transplant went OK.
    Any ideas?
If I did, in fact, damage the battery connector during transplant, wouldn't the phone have squawked error messages before refusing to charge.  There were no error messages or hints that the battery transplant had problems.

So, to clarify, you've opened up the iPhone, and replaced the battery yourself?
Are you an Apple Authorized Service Technician?
Apple doe snot supply batteries to third-parties.  Any iPhone battery you acquired is either:
    A) Counterfeit
    B) Stolen
    C) Salvaged from another unit.
Additionally, unless you are an AAST and were using an Apple-supplied battery, your device warranty and support is permanently voided.

  • Old and new battery both ~2 hour life, recently very loud fan

    1)
My macbook pro, which was purchased April 2006, had suddenly dropped its battery life from about ~4 hours to ~2 in January. I noticed this because I traveled back home by plane with a 4 hour battery life for winter, and within weeks the life had dropped to ~2.
I already reset the system (i.e., remove battery, hold down start for 5 seconds, etc) with no avail. This was with the old battery. The apple store tried the same thing, was stumped, and decided to just give me a new battery.
The older battery was the replacement for the 'dud' my macbook pro was originally given. This new battery should be perfectly fine, but the battery life is still ~2 hours. I tried the system reset with this battery--which didn't work. I have also reduced the battery life to just about zero then charged it again--which didn't work.
Could there possibly be something wrong with the hardware? What can I do to fix it, what is the best course of action to fix this one problem?
    2)
Just a few days ago a fan in the top left corner has begun to behave strangely. It has become very loud and seemingly inconsistent even with low CPU usage. By inconsistent I mean it sounds as if it has become loose or it won't maintain a constant speed. The best description for the sound would be 'boiling water.' What could be the cause for this and how can I go about fixing this problem?
    Any input is greatly appreciated!

Have you checked your battery's serial number against the MBP battery exchange program? I did this out of curiousity with mine and it turned that mine was one of the faulty ones! So Apple sent me a new one and I sent the duff one back. It was still fairly new at the time so it still held a good charge.
    2)
I had the fan thing but mine was on the right hand side. Your BEST bet...(what I did) open up quicktime and RECORD the noise several times at different operating conditions and save the files.
send your machine to a service centre and ask for an email address to send the files to so the technician can hear what you hear. I recorded it behaving normally as well so they could hear the difference.
The 1st time mine went in it behaved itself for them so they had to give it back to me, that's when I recorded the noises! I emailed the files before I sent my MBP back again, they took one listen and said they'd order the fans, BEFORE I sent it in. They called me to say that the fans were in so in it went for the replacement.
Hope it helps - mine sounded like it was going to explode and rip apart the inside! I can email you the files if you like?

  • Put new battery in ipod. works fine but windows doesnt see

a few days ago I successfully put a new battery in my ipod.
it has worked fine: charges plays all the music nothing weird.
Then I tried to hook it up to my computer and my itunes doesnt recognize it, windows sees it but I cant access it (says Ipod on drive G). i am in the process of updating it (2005-11-17) now but it appears to be frozen. the drive is full so i dont really know how long it will take and maybe its not frozen.
    i also got this prompt:
    - drive not ready prompt:
"the drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive and make sure that a disk is insterted and that the drive door is closed"
I did theother 4 R's as well before this and even changed the cable just to make sure. any thoughts???

they are these blue straight plastic things with a little wedge hook doo dad on the end. they couldnt open the ipod initially , i used an exacto knife and pryed it open a little then got the plastics in there. Like changing a bike tube they give you two "irons" to work with. one to hold it open and the other to slid towards the top and bottom. it pops right open. you need to open it from the sides not the bottom or top. The mini i have no idea how to open i also thing the nano is built like the mini. I am sure if you google the battery replacement product it comes with instructions (but make sure you have good eyes, the writing and examples are TINY.

  • Should I get a brand new battery or just get a new player??

I have an ipod mini I recieved almost 3 years ago. It now hardly holds a charge for 3 hours (maybe less). I bought a new nano, but now I'm thinking of selling it and getting a new battery for the mini. Except for a few nicks and a the lack of battery power, it runs fine.
If I get a new battery, where is the best place to get a new one from?

You can get batteries at CompUSA for ~$20 for the Mini.

  • Adobe CS4 on HP mini 2140 models

Hello, we are using the HP mini 2140 and 5101 and 5102 models with CS4 Web premium. The machines are pretty close in spec the 5102 and the 5101 have better graphics. Basically they are atom 1.6 machines with 2 Gig of ram. and 160 gig hard drives. We are connecting them over wireless and are working out of network folders. I have started seeing error messages on some of the machines. the event log shows DR. Watson   event 4097.
Just wondering if anyone had any leads to this. I am concerned that it may be due to the underpower of the machines. We are also running the machines on the max battery mode.
    Thank you

The Dr Watson debugger that you are referring to is a component of Windows.  If that is crashing could it be related to DW, yes, does it mean DW is the cause it depends.  The error will say something like "the application, [app name], has failed".  If it is DW it is possible that it is forcing a memory error on your system.  The atom processor was really not intended for more this type of application, but based on the system requirements, DW should work although other elements in the suite will not be supported by Adobe on your machine because it is below the 2ghz requirement for the suite.
I would check your system monitor and see if all the memory in your system is being read.  Other than that I have to ask that if you have any of the applications are installed and whether they are causing the debugging error, and if so, when does it happen.

  • Don't know how to install new Battery! URGENT!

Okay so I just a new battery for the G3 lombard, how do I take out the onld one and install the new one????? Help!!!!!

This is soooo cool !! I just bought a used Lombard on eBay and know next to nothing about it. But I do know how to open up the battery holder. On both front corners there is an opening that shows the end o the latch that opens both battery holders/ on mine one controls the dvd opening. The latch operates with very little pressure so no forcing it. If you have to use force you are at the wrong place.

  • I just ordered an iPad 4 32gb from Amazon but sold by a store called iPadShop.  In the customer reviews there were several reports of this store selling used and refurbished iPads as new.  How can i verify mine is new and not used when it arrives.?

Ok, first time here, so forgive me if Im repeating the question.  I just ordered a NEW iPad 4 32gb from Amazon, but is actually being sold by a seller called "iPadShop". Although this seller got a high approval rating of 4.9 there were several reports of customers receiving used and refurbished iPads but sold as new.  Once I receive mine how can I verify it is new.  Also, even the ones that were new were purchased by this seller and then resold, which shortened the life of the 1 year warranty offered by Apple..?

If you just ordered it, I suggest you cancel your order as soon as possible. If you can't contact Amazon, call your credit card company and cancel payment on that. Why go through worrying about the ipad you are paying for as new? If it's to save money, then that can be defeated if you get a used or refurbished ipad with a less than full one year warranty. You'll be dealing with the ipad shop's return policy which could mean that once you open it, it's yours, unlike when you buy from Apple you have a full 14 days to return it even if you've opened it.
I looked at Amazon and did not see a price difference. If cost led you to buy from Amazon, what are you saving?
I suggest you buy it directly from Apple. If cost is an issue, consider buying a refurbished ipad from the Apple online Refurbished store. I would not buy a refurbished anything from anywhere but the Apple online refurb store.
The ipad 4 32 gb is $499.00 refurbished - a savings of $100.00 vs. a new one. We bought two ipads last year and one as a gift this year and they have been great!
All ipads sold in the Apple refurb store come with new front and back covers, a brand new battery, a full one year warranty, and in case it matters, come in a new white Apple box like all ipads do. Earphones and charger are also included. You can also get the new Apple Care +, which insures up to three breakages (damaged glass, water damage, etc.) in two years.
    Hope this helps.
