HP Mini Compaq 110c 1010EE (10 to 15 minutes to boot

Dear All Experts,
I have problem in my Compaq Mini I already format but the problem is still the same. Do you have any suggestion how to solve this issue.
Regards,
JSC

Hi,
Please upload the minidump file to OneDrive, and then share the link here. We will help you analyze it.
The detailed steps are as below:
1. Click "Start", input "SYSDM.CPL" (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press “Enter”.
2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab and click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery".
3. Under "Write debugging information" section, make sure the "Small memory dump (128KB)" option is selected.
4. Make sure "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" is in the "Small dump directory" open box and click “OK”.
If the system crash again, please refer to the following steps to collect memory dump files:
1. Click “Start”, type “%SystemRoot%\Minidump" (without quotation marks) in “Search” bar and press “Enter”.
2. Go to your Desktop, right-click on it and create a new folder named "Dump".
3. Copy all the memory dump files (looks like [Mini092008-01.dmp]) in Minidump to this folder.
4. Right-click on the Dump folder, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".
5. Upload to SkyDrive.
Meanwhile, I would like to suggest you update all available drivers for test. Since many BSOD is caused by the incompatible driver.

  • I installed snow leopard on my mac mini and now it takes roughly 10 minutes to boot

I have a mac mini 1.5ghz with 1gb of ram installed.
I was running leopard with the combo update (10.5.8) but decided to install snow leopard as some of my apps need 10.6.8 to run.
The mac now boots past the grey screen with the apple logo then goes to a blue screen where i can move my mouse but nothing else.
This lasts for roughly 10-11 mins and then finally goes to my desktop and sure enough everything works  perfectly and fast too.
It used to boot in around 30 seconds when i had leopard installed.  If it can not be fixed i will be happy going back to leopard but i dont want to lose anything when i install it.
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Thanks

Mac OS X 10.6: If you see a blue screen at startup .
You may need to reinstall Snow Leopard:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • My mac mini takes 5 minutes to boot up

I have had my Mac Mini for about a year now, have always run Mountain Lion on it, but in the last month it takes 5 minutes to boot up when I turn it on (turning on to the log in page).  Everything else works fine.  I have done Disk Utilities, and the permissions are all fine, I verified the disc and that is all fine.  I have two other drives plugged into it, one 500GB USB for Time Machine and one 250GB firewire for data storage and my iTunes items.  The Mac Mini is a 2.3GHz processor with 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM.
Any ideas please?  5 minutes is very slow for a computer to boot in 2013.  Thanks.

Open Console in Utilities, go to system.log, enter boot or BOOT_ in the filter field. Please post just the bootup sequence, no other messages, of those ~five minutes, from BOOT_TIME, or however it's worded until "setting hostname to "yourusername.local." If the time stamps, which we must see are not included, then post back without posting the log, since it will be useless.

  • HT5446 If I buy a mac mini with a fusion drive and add windows using boot camp, can I make the SSD function be dedicated to the windows partition?

If I buy a mac mini with a fusion drive and add windows using boot camp, can I make the SSD function be dedicated to the windows partition?

Additional information from Linc's post. Basically, only one additional partition can be added to a Fusion Drive and it resides on the HDD.
Do computers that come with a Fusion Drive support Boot Camp?
Yes. Use the Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition and install Boot Camp. The Windows partition will exist on the hard disk drive, not the Flash drive, and is not part of Fusion Drive Logical Volume Group. 3TB Fusion Drive configurations need to update to OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3 or later to install Windows 8. See iMac (27-inch, Late 2012): Boot Camp alert with 3T hard drive for more information.

  • Mac mini Intel Updated to 10.4.10 - Won't boot if Airport turned on

Just updated my Mini to 10.4.10. I have two locations set up - one wired, and one wireless. If the location is set to use Airport, the machine will not boot. It may get to the desktop, but usually hangs before the dock makes it onto the screen. I need to do a Safe Boot, and change the location back to Wired for it to boot. After that, it works perfectly fine until I try wireless again, resulting in the same problem. Taking cues from some of the threads here, I downloaded and applied the Combo update, but it didn't help. It worked just fine under 10.4.9, and is completely reproduceable under 10.4.10. I tried turning off my Linksys wireless router to see if talking to it was giving Airport trouble, but even with the router powered off, the mini still hangs.
Saw some other threads about people having difficulties after 10.4.10 using HDMI to an HDTV, which I am also using, so maybe there's some combination of DVI->HDMI monitor and Airport???
Mac Mini (Intel Duo)   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   DVI->HDMI->Vizio GV47L HDTV

Curiously, of the 3 users I have with Intel minis who updated to 10.4.10, none have boot problems with Airport enabled. None are using any unusual adapters etc, but the systems are behaving correctly none-the-less.
However, there are obviously some users who do have problems, and just to be clear, since this is a user-to-user support forum, Apple do NOT read these threads. Well, to be more accurate, the forum hosts do, but solely from the standpoint of 'policing' content, and from time to time other staffers may, though not for the purpose of identifying technical issues. It is expected that users wishing to report a problem contact Apple directly to do so, and for all those suffering this anomaly (and others like it should they occur) it cannot be stressed too much that if the answer cannot be found here from another user, contacting Apple directly to make them aware of the problem is the best way forward.
In many instances, these issues turn out to be caused by issues that already pre-existed in the system before an update was installed, but in other instances where there is a genuine issue with an update and a specific piece of hardware or software or in certain operating circumstances, often the only way Apple will know is if users report it to them directly so they can then examine the details of each reported case to help identify the cause and then release a fix if it is necessary.
A useful resource for reporting and troubleshooting issues like these is http://www.macfixit.com/ though it's interesting to note that they don't seem to indicate this particular issue has been reported to them. They do, however, have a comprehensive guide on reinstalling MacOS at http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070709083546267 for those who want to downgrade from 10.4.10

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter not working under Vista (Boot Camp).

    Hi there,
I'm facing a very serious issue with MacBook Pro Unibody running MS Vista under Boot Camp: using the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to hook a projector is 95% impossible because the only resolution available is 640x480 or sometimes 800x600. No solution came from the adaptor firmware update, still same behavior: connecting the external projector/monitor toggles 640x480 resolution with no more choices available. Just 5% of attempts on selected projectors gave me access to the complete resolutions list.
This is having a serious impact on my job where I do need both Mac&Windows running natively and with external display capabilities, please I'm looking for some feedback from users facing the same problem or someone who had an official answer on this issue from Apple. Do avoid posting about using modded display drivers please: I know they exist but the adaptor should be working with original ones.
I can understand Apple does not support MS Vista issues but this seems to be a hardware/driver one.
I'd like to point out I'm using a clean Vista installation with Apple drivers (from the Leopard DVD) and I've run Vista (same version, same gfx drivers etc) under Boot Camp on my previous MPB (with integrated DVI output+adapter) on hundreds of different projectors with never a single problem.
    Any feedback is really appreciated.
    L.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to connect to the switch in our conference room (connecting both a flat panel display and/or a projector, both with much higher native resolutions), all I get is 640x480. This is a huge problem to using bootcamp, and I really need to get this to work. I was able to get a higher resolution 1280x800 on a separate, portable display, so I'm wondering if people have the problem with standalone projectors or only with projectors connected to some sort of switch, in my case an Extron MPX423A. I have also tried this in both Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 RC1 (32-bit), with the bootcamp drivers and the latest NVidia drivers, and the behavior is the same all around.

  • Mac Mini Core 2 Duo died and now won't boot - any help or advice appreciated...

    Hi, all
I have a core 2 duo Mac Mini (possibly a 2008 model?) which has been retro-fitted with a superdrive at some point in its life and was running Lion.
It used to be left running 24/7, but one day I returned to find it powered down and it will not boot up at all now. Applying power and then pressing the power button results in the cpu fan starting, and the HD spinning up - the white power indicator lights steady, but other than that there is no sign of life - no noises, beeps, no display, nothing.
I'm not averse to getting the lid off (I've opened up a fair few mini's before ) so any suggestions as to what my next step should be?
As an aside, the Intel minis have a small push button on the logic board, about half-way down the right hand side - what is this for?
Many thanks in advance for any help and advice you may be able to offer.
    O.

    Thanks for your reply, mooblie...
I have tried the SMC reset (which, unless I have misunderstood occurs as a result of removing all power for a while then reconnecting the psu and turning on as normal after a few seconds delay) with no luck.
The PRAM reset is a bit of a problem, though, as I do not appear to have any keyboard function - I'm using an aluminium Apple keyboard and mighty mouse (both are the wired variety, plugged into separate USB ports), but the 'boot' process doesn't appear to get far enough to enable operationof the keyboard (shift lock light doesn't light if appropriate key pressed), so I can't give it the 4-finger death grip at power up.   The mouse illuminates, and I've tried all 4 USB ports, BTW...
I forgot to add to the previous post that there is 2GB RAM fitted, and both Bluetooth and Airport.

  • Can a Mini use a hard disk from a Macbook and boot OK?

My Macbook in the shop getting repaired for the RSD problem. I pulled the 120GB HD I had installed and put in the factory HD when I sent it out.
I needed a computer so I bought a Mac Mini with only a 80GB HD. My question is; can I swap out the HD and let the mini use the OS X install from the Macbook and boot up properly or is it like windows and the version of the OS is slightly different due to the hardware?
    MacMini 1.83GHz & Macbook 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello,
I've done this with the PowerPC Macs (PowerPC to PowerPC), and it's always worked fine.
You should be fine doing this as well. Just don't install it in a PowerPC system since it's an Intel version of OS X.
But, you'll be fine. Understand that you'll likely void the warranty on the Mac Mini, and that removing the drive will be a lot more work than it was in the MacBook.
    But, it will work fine.
If you don't want to risk the warranty on the Mini, then you may want to just get an external FireWire or USB 2.0 portable hard drive enclosure to install the hard drive in (make sure it's Serial-ATA). And, then you can either boot from the external drive, or use that drive to clone it to your Mini's internal drive.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi Klaus1,
Thank you for getting back to me. Both the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini are running the latest version of OS X Lion 10.7.5.
I am trying to install Samsung printer software. On the Mini though I cannot install ANYTHING, google earth, printer software, modem software etc...
I just get to the stage I have to enter my password for permission. It won't accept a wrong password, accepts the right password but window just goes away and back to install page when you click install asks for the password again..Very frustrating.
    Thank you.
